...mainly because of overuse! In 2004 when I worked in a video store, I thought oh that's kind of cute & clever to quote the Sandlot when my coworker would say this. But I still hear people say it A LOT and I'm annoyed every time.2 -

Not only that, but the phrase is quoted straight-up WRONG. The original phrase was "blood of the covenant is thicker than water of the womb" which means the people you covenant with (particularly in marriage and on the battlefield) tie you closer than just being related. So it literally means the exact opposite of what they think it means, making them stupid on top of manipulative.18 -

Exactly! I don't like that phrase EVER but find it appropriate only when someone buys their first new car/house, decides to move to a faraway city, gets a huge tattoo, etc. Not when they organize their closet or try the new tapas place.2 -

My husband totally hates "chillax".
I hate acronyms that are used with duplicate words...it's not an ATM machine...the M already already stands for
machine...just call it an ATM. GAH!7 -
