I'm craving a whopper talk me out of it.

I dont know if you are in the UK but yes they have just started advertising all over the place for whoppers.
Personally i have never really liked burger king, they just dont taste nice to me.
Last night I had a supermarket 'quality' burger, in a sandwich thin, with 25g of cheese slice, some veggies in the thin. You could add a bit of mayo. Not quite BK or mcdonalds but it gets the craving gone.0 -

I just gave that suggestion to the OP as well but I think you're right actually!
added to that, if he has 330 calories left for the day, the whopper will only put him at maintenance?
Just eat it then.4 -
Assuming all your logging is accurate (I.e., using a food scale for all your food), your deficit is aggressive for someone with 10 pounds left to lose. 0.5 lb/week is a reasonable pace at this point.
As for the sandwich, get it tomorrow if you still want it tomorrow, and fit it into your calories.
what make's it aggressive? Just because you can't do it doesn't mean I can't. Its a pet peeve of mine here when people comment that other people should take longer to lose weight when they are doing fine themselves. 1500 calories a day for a male is not "TOO" aggressive.
Unless you are very very short and completely sedentary, yes, 1500 calories a day is too little for a man, as we tell women here over and over about 1200 calories for them.

My husband orders a burger with extra veggies, no bun.0

I've gotten lettuce wrapped at BK. Going to Phoenix in a couple of weeks. Was looking at In and Out menu today. will get the protein cheese burger and split fries with grandkids. Yes, I am looking forward to it and will be eating at maintenance while there.1

If it was me I'd just have the whopper as the worst thing I can do is to deny myself something I'm craving.
How I dealt with this would depend on how I was feeling...
- If I felt like I could put the craving off I'd do that. This would give me a chance to bank those extra calories over the course of a few days or let me plan properly and work those extra calories into my daily budget.
- If I was craving hard and really didn't want to wait then I'd just have the burger then either drop my calorie target by a little bit for the next 2 or 3 days or I'd just accept that I was gonna be a few hundred calories over my target on that day and move on.
But that's me and that's how I roll so this approach may not be the best way for other people. I know some people find if they 'stay strong' for a while they can eventually get over the craving. That doesn't happen with me, the longer I deny the worse the cave in is.
You have to work out what works best for you.1 -

If I want something like a Whopper head to the gym first or spread the cals over a few days and then your good to go.
Its a marathon anyway. 1 day is nothing in a 1000.3 -
I sometimes crave a Whopper, mostly due to memories of having them with my mom as a kid (well, a Whopper Jr back in the day lol). Now I can't have them even if I wanted to because they use soy in the bun AND the patty. So it's not worth the pain!1
-
so like others, I wait a bit to see if the craving is lasting or not (usually weeks) and then plan to indulge. I may eat maintenance or save some calories but i'll do it "fully" to satisfy the craving. This has worked so far, usually once i eat it I move on. Sometimes i can fit it in my normal deficit calories (depends on portion and food)
Funny I am getting fewer cravings lately. I guess this means I am due for one soon1 -
For those curious I got the whopper took two bites and threw it in the trash.
Went and got 5 guys burger with bacon, mozzarella sticks and side of honey mustard instead. Only had that with half a pint of red velvet halo top and some isopure protein with almond milk.. all day fitting my calories in maintenance.
You gotta live right.17 -

I find my tastes change. Junk food and sweets and treats - just appeal less over time the less I have them.
And, often, on the occasions I indulge I just dont like them like I used to.
Dieting/eating more mindfully seems to change the palate!0 -

It’s aggressive because with only 10 lbs to lose, losing at a rate of 1 lb/week risks losing lean body mass instead of fat.
It’s aggressive because you are eating the bare minimum calories that are deemed healthy for males.
It’s aggressive because you can’t fit in foods you really want into your plan without worrying about taking up half your calories.
It’s aggressive because as a 5’2 female I can lose weight eating more than that.
It’s your choice obviously but if you want to know why it’s considered aggressive these are a few reasons.
Appreciate the insight. I peeped your diary and lol'd at the calories spent on wine and coffee creamer. Interesting strategy lol but how do you not get hungry?16 -

it fits her calories...like winegelato - i'm work on the i'm not going to cut anything out mentality - just adjust to fit my macros (that being said, i've been sick for the last week - so if you want to peep at my diary look before about the 10th)8 -
Whoppers are my favorite and literally the easiest fast food item to duplicate at home. 93% ground beef & light mayo make it possible to pretty much fit it into any day.0

I figure by eating 1550 it leaves a couple hundred for error. I do 30 minutes of bike cardio 4 days a week, back and biceps monday, chest Tuesday, shoulder and triceps Wednesday and legs on Thursday. Plus i try to get 7500-10000 steps a day.
Question though. At 163 did you have love handles or lower back fat? I still do at 161 and wonder how low I need to go to get rid of them? Should I aim for 145? With .5 a week it could take nearly a year to lose 15lbs since not every week will be a loss.1 -

How long have you been lifting? Your program is more of a bro split, meant for those on gear or a surplus. I do a push/pull split so I hit every muscle twice/week. So Monday and Thursday I do push, while Tuesday and Friday Pull. for push day it is chest, shoulders, triceps and squat or leg press for legs. Pull day is pull-up, rows, along with shrugs and biceps, and deadlifts. I usually hit 8,000 to 12,000 steps/day, play sports one day a week and bike to and from work (8km/day)3 -

I hope you do get one soon. The summer heat seems to make mine dry up. This is a source of annoyance because I still bank enough calories to eat maintenance each Sunday and I can't figure out what I want to spend those calories on. I would rather not stop banking because I don't like to change my routine. Right now I kind of wish I had a Whopper craving.

Hah nice dude. Not that I feel the need to defend my diary, it’s been open for the 6 years I’ve been here, but I will take the opportunity to advertise that my hometown team won the Stanley Cup for the first time ever and so yeah, there’s been a lot of celebrating around here this week. That’s the beauty of eating at a modest deficit, you can fit all sorts of things in your calories, including indulgent holidays, vacations or celebrations, without stressing or needing people to talk you out of eating them or critiquing your choices.
Also...
Not sure how ~100 cals of coffee creamer in 3 cups or a latte seems excessive. It’s all about prioritizing and making things fit .
Nice choice on the Five Guys, it’s far superior to a BK Whopper. Glad you got over your food anxiety and were able to enjoy the meal27 -

The bigger sin is putting cream in the coffee at all.
You are, of course, right. Unless there is a medical reason, ethical reason, or a highly unbalanced diet there is no reason to be stressed about what we eat. As long as my doctor, who has my blood tested thoroughly every 4 months is not concerned then I will just continue to believe that it only matters what we do most of the time, not some of the time.

Lifting about a year and a half. Never intended to gain muscle just tone and keep a healthy amount. I was over 210 October 2017 and now depending on day fluctuate from 158 to 164. For a few months i did keto i was as low as 152 but instantly shot back up a week after i stopped so it wssnt a sustainable life style for me. Yeah it’s amazing that different people find different foods satiating isn’t it? It’s what blanket statements like “try low carb you’ll never be hungry” don’t really work for everyone.16 -

what make's it aggressive? Just because you can't do it doesn't mean I can't. Its a pet peeve of mine here when people comment that other people should take longer to lose weight when they are doing fine themselves. 1500 calories a day for a male is not "TOO" aggressive.
Interesting strategy lol but how do you not get hungry?
Glad you got over your food anxiety and were able to enjoy the meal
Not excessive, just odd to me how many calories are devoted to "liquids" the one thing less filling than carbs to me.
I wouldn't know. I do not look at people's diaries unless they ask for help. I keep my own closed because people should not try to use me as an example. Unless you really paid attention you might think I don't eat enough calories. I do but you have to see my 7 day average which is not something everyone would know to look for. I have other habits that would not make for a good idea for others to emulate either unless they shared some of my particular quirks.6 -
How far away is the store? If you walk there and back, and it's far enough, you can need and deserve a Whopper.2

If you are going to eat a whole bunch of other things, you might as well just eat the whopper and get it out of the way. I found that if I eat around something, I usually end up eating what I wanted any way after all that other stuff. SO, I should have ate what I wanted from the start and those other calories wouldn't have been consumed.1
