wow. That is a lot of alcohol. Binge drinking is the most dangerous kind of drinking.
Have you considered that you may have a problem with alcohol? Can you just have one or two single shots per session? That is considered normal drinking and doesn't lead to a hangover. One to two drinks per session.
That's bold to assume she might have an alcohol problem based on one singular snapshot into her life.
I have a lot of personal/professional experience with alcohol "problems."
16 drinks in one session is a problem - no matter how you slice it.23 -

I wouldnβt say I have a drink problem ... I think when I do manage to have a night out I tend to over indulge so I would agree that I binge ππ» I donβt do this all the time by the way hahaha
So Iβm going to make sure the next time that I eat properly on the day and drink some water between alcohol so I stay hydrated π―
There is a big difference between every 6-8 weeks and every 3-4 months. Every 6-8 weeks translates to 7-9 times per year; whereas every 3-4 months translates to 3 or 4 times per year. Denial/downplaying the frequency and/or severity of a problem is a symptom of a problem. Do you binge 3 times per year or 9 times per year? You don't owe us an answer; but you do owe yourself one.

You beat me to it.
I had a housemate who wouldn't drink for months at a time, but when she did, she went off the rails, and once we had to haul her off to detox. This was not her first, or last, trip to detox.
My ex used to think "I don't have a drinking problem - I only drink on Sunday." Well, it wasn't only Sundays, and when you get blackout drunk every Sunday, there's a problem.
@xLollKellyx I also noticed that in your second post quoted above you say "I have a drink" - you're not having "a" drink - "6/7 glasses (doubles) of bourbon whiskey and one or two kopperbergs to start" is binge drinking.
As a women, the potential extra calories the day after binge drinking is the least of your worries. I say this as a woman who used to abuse alcohol.11 -
I realised when I wrote the first one that I go a lot longer than 6-8 weeks without drinking... bloody hell my issue wasnβt about how much alcohol I consume and how often ππππ I was simply asking does anyone eat badly the next day after drinking ????
Judge me all you like... when I have a drink I let go and you know what I bloody deserve a good night out when I get the chance... being a mother to 7 children Iβm surprised Iβm not a full blown alcoholic π€£π€£π€£π€£π€£π€£
Lighten up people Iβm ok ... jeeeeeezzzzzz
Ps my kids are all good too before all the opinionated people comment about me being a mother fffffssssss π€£ππ€£14 -

Well, it stands to reason that if you post about hangovers, poor eating after drinking and then post the amount you drink - people are going to have opinions.
I suggest not disclosing stuff you don't want comments on.
Over-drinking causes poor eating the next day for almost everyone.10 -
Eating junk with a hangover is completely normal. Avoiding drinking to that degree is doing yourself a big favor. Iβm a past every day drinker (havenβt had a drink in almost 5 years) but I never drank to that level. I think I would black out. My question is how you deal with 7 children with a hangover.ππ
Hats off to you!3 -

Many of the posters who replied were well qualified to have an opinion, either from working with problem drinkers professionally, having friends or family who minimize drinking, or having been problem drinkers ourselves.
No one "deserves" 16 drinks (seven double whiskeys and two Kopperbergs) in one sitting. That's your Addictive Voice talking.
I'd suggest getting a gym membership or a hobby for blowing off stress, but don't think you're in a place to hear it, but maybe someone else reading is.9 -
Iβve took on board what everyone has said! It is excessive the amount I drank ππ»just to let you all know I donβt drink this amount every time I just went over the top but it was a bloody good night π€£ so Iβm going to limit my drinks in future and Iβm actually going to change my drink too because that bourbon is lethal π
So Iβm not in denial... Iβm hungover... like death warmed up π€£π€£π€£
So thank you for your opinions and Iβve been really good eating and drank loads of water too ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ»4 -
If it's once every 3-4 months, then the day of overeating is hardly an issue.
If it's more frequent, the drinking is likely the issue.1 -
I don't think anyone was judging. Many many people have had issues with alcohol and when we see red flags, we tend to wish we could open other people's eyes BEFORE they get where we went (but that doesn't seem to be possible).
I hope you are right that it is no big deal but maybe just look at the research a little and see the danger behind binges with alcohol.
For the record yes. I did tend to find that alcohol and hangovers negatively affected my weight loss. I would under eat to make room for drinks, then I would drink more calories than intended, then eat all the calorie dense food because I was starving and had no inhibitions, then the next day I would have zero movement and crave all the fats, salt, and sugar.
Best of luckβ€5 -
It's good to have a night out and a good time, and having a bunch of drinks now and then is whatever but consider the way you're feeling after is legit a sort of poisoning. As part of my weight loss and diet overhaul I reduced my drinking a lot and now when I have alcohol the effects are more heightened and noticeable and it honestly doesn't feel great sometimes especially if I am thinking hard about what it's really doing to me. I'm not about to go teetotal or anything but I do think twice or three times before I have any alcohol these days.3

Yes, I think it's important to point out that the posts expressing concern weren't making a morality judgement, they are concerned about your health. That much alcohol on an empty stomach for a woman is a recipe for a trip to the ER for alcohol poisoning. Women dying from binge drinking related alcohol poisoning is a real thing, and people don't want you to end up in the hospital. And it's not the kind of thing where since it hasn't gotten you yet, that means you're immune.

Anyway, glad to hear you're going to eat a little bit more and drink less next time. Maybe ask one of the people you're with to help you limit it. I personally find I am incapable of determining a proper amount of food while I'm drinking and while I feel like crap afterwards. That combined with the feeling like crap keeps me from having more than a couple of drinks anymore, it's not worth it for me. Hope you find your happy medium7 -

What is a Kopperberg ?
you are right alcohol is the Devil0 -
Kopperberg is like alcopops used to be, I think. My niece and her friends were drinking it last time I was back in the UK. Tall and fruity, probably malt liquor.0

This... All the way!
OP... eventually (probably) you may reach a point where you become sick of feeling like crap and that will be your own personal line to draw.3 -
You are all right... Iβve definitely opened my eyes to the dangers of my binge drink π― I felt awful the next day!
So Iβve decided to not drink for a while and focus on my overall health ... itβs just not worth it at all ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ»
So again thank you to EVERYONE for telling me how it is and I think I am trying to sugar coat it... itβs not good!!!
I need to be healthy for my kids because Iβm there world and frankly I need to be in it π―π―π―π―π―
Iβm actually glad I posted this... because itβs been a real eye opener to the danger Iβm putting myself in ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ»
I think when/if I do drink Iβll have singles instead of double and maybe have 3/4 MAX drinks and space them out because I really did feel like death warmed up π€£π14 -
Spicy food, it satisfies the craving a bit more. Maybe some healthy noodles and veggies, just make sure it has lots of umami flavour and spices and it will be a bit more satisfying.0
