I have been running outside every other day 5.5 miles. Today I was on my last 1/2 mile and two jack russells came on the road barking, grawling, hair standing on end, and biting me! They took two huge holes out of my jogging pants and broke the skin on my ankle! Ahg time to get me some pepper spray!!!!

Bad dog!!!!:noway:0

You know... it's always the little dogs isn't it!0
-
Was the owner around?0
-
Pepper spray works, but a much less harmful solution that work just was well is a small watergun with a ammonia and water solution in it.0
-
Rocks work well too. And I would report it.0
-
Nope, not always the little dogs. . . a few weeks ago I got chased by a pit bull while riding my bike. !!! Needless to say, I bought some pepper spray. Hopefully, I'll never have to use it, but after that harrowing experience, I'm not going to take my chances!0

I also had a run in with a neighborhood dog a few years back. and that has made me wary of walking in my neighborhood....I don't very often....0

You can try vinger too. It's cheaper and won't hurt the dogs. Just mix 12 oz of water with 2 oz of vinger, and if you need smaller version just cut everything in half.0

I had this happen when I was walking while camping. The homeowner said "he's just playing". I thought "your a horrible dog owner".0
-
I find that a little squirt of water from a bottle whether I am on the bike or running has worked everytime.0
-
Or you could get a German Shepherd to run with you! hahaha
or pepper spray0 -
I use vinegar water and it does not hurt the dog but they do not like it.0
-
I would've got them by their necks and dragged them around until the owner came out.
I was out the other month with my dog and some idiot let their dog just run at me and I had to hold my dog back (he's a staff and hates other dogs being close)
They just STOOD there watching, so I finally got away and they called their dog back and locked them in the garden. I went over and shouted at them, telling them to keep their dog on a leash if it's unfriendly.0 -
proven fact, small dogs bite the most!!!! they just don't do as much damage to warrant the attention big dogs do. nasty little ****s. If that had been me, dog lover or not, they woulda earned the nickname "punt dogs". atleast till i could get something else to keep the little ****s away. call animal services. it doesn't matter if they're small, they're still aggressive and shouldn't be runnin loose.0

Make sure you report it to the police. Also, if you havnt already get a tetanus Jab as you dont want any nasty surprises.

I would be reporting it. What if it was a child?0

I walk and there's one little dog who always has something to prove. I carry a stick and lunge at him while waving it. What really gets him is when I bark at him at the same time.0

This happened to me a couple months ago. The owner was a BEOTCH and told me not to run on my gravel (public effing) road. I was thinking about a sponge dipped in bacon grease to take care of Kujo!!!0

I would use the vinegar or water on the dogs and use the pepper spray on the dog owner.0

Call Animal Control.0

Aww. The little tykes were trying to help you run faster. Bless 'em.
I hope you're okay.0 -
Irresponsible pet owners drive me up the wall.
I've grown up with dogs. Love them to death. I've always been a believer that a dog's behavior is part nature and part nurture. We've had dogs who wouldn't hurt a fly that have required little training besides the normal sit, stay, and all that. Others required more training because they had a stronger "protect the pack" urge.
Sorry you had to deal with irresponsible owners. Generally, a loud firm voice and pepper spray/rock will be enough to deter a dog. If it's clear that they're "protecting" a specific zone, avoid that zone. Walk across the street, go around them, etc. However, if they come at you, and they chase/bite you, please do the dogs (and the children in the area!) a favor and report their owners.0 -

This made me chuckle.
There is dog mace out there special for these occasions. I have very well trained animals that are used for obedience demonstrations, public education, exercise buddies, guard dogs and companions. Loose biting dogs are UNACCEPTABLE no matter what the size and need to be dealt with harshly. The owner needs to be held responsible.0 -
Get a stun gun! LOL. jk. I wish people would have better control of their dogs.0

Call Animal Control so they can make sure the dogs have all their vaccines and so they can counsel them on leash laws/obedience training, etc...
I have three dogs and it irks me when other dog owners aren't responsible owners.0 -
What would be really fun, if the dogs had a white coat...add food coloring to the squirt bottle... Kinda like playing paint ball. lol.0

^ THIS.
My dog is a staff, not friendly with other dogs, that's why I keep him on a leash whenever we're out, if I see a dog, I cross the street. But with people, he is the nicest and friendliest dog you will ever meet! Even with strangers and small children!
But he's protective over our back garden, and a lot of children are stupid and try to climb over to (well they say they're just looking at him) to try to steal him. And he'll growl and bark at them, but he's never went for them. He probably would if they manhandled him though.
Point is; we raised him to not hurt anyone else, him not liking other dogs and being protective is his nature. If you know your dog will bite KEEP IT ON A LEASH.0 -
I called animal control, owners are getting tickets and paying for my pants! I love dogs I have one and always have/will but no I wont b using water mixed with something. I have two young kids and if that would have happend to them I would have killed them right then. I will b using pepper spray! They are lucky I don't start running with my 38! Also the animal warden informed me small dogs are the majority that bite and he's the one who told me what kind of spray to get. If you don't want an animal to get hurt control them or keep them locked up!!!0

I would use the vinegar or water on the dogs and use the pepper spray on the dog owner.
