I have done most of Jillian Michael's DVDs and love them. I just started The Biggest Loser Boot Camp. I find this easier to do than Jillian's 30 Day Shred but still feel like I had a good work out. Also I do the Yoga Weight Loss DVD and that one works for body FOR SURE!!0

Jade~ Just do what you can. If push ups hurt, don't do them. March in place, do side lunges instead. Opt for whatever doesn't hurt. But a day or two of rest certainly won't set you back.0

I realllly want to do a day 7 today...and it's taking everything in me to just rest. I keep telling myself it's okay to rest...give my body and muscles a chance to catch up, build, and everything will go along as planned. I'm torn though because I plan to go at it again tomorrow...but as soon as I hit those pushups I'm gonna be in pain again. Am considering wall push-ups...but do they do ANY good? Is it worth it? And then to just continue doing regular crunches when they do the reverse and anything else that requires major use of transverse abs? What would you do?!! I don't want to make it worse...but I don't want to lose steam here either. I'm noticing changes...my friends and family are too...and I want to keep this momentum going!!
TBH I don't think there is anything wrong with having a rest day, especially if you have that kind of pain. I did it earlier this week because of my quads and was def better for it. By the following day I felt much stronger. Or like Statia said, do what you can if you must do something. Just be careful to not do those exercises that exacerbate the injury you seem to be dealing with. It won't set you back or undo the progress you've made.

It's past midnight here and I'm about to do Day 6, I really want to go to bed though!! I will be away for the next few days but I'm going to take the laptop with me to keep going.
Jade - I agree, there's nothing wrong with having a rest day if you're in pain, just jump back in when you're feeling better. Hope you're feeling better soon though.

I am feeling really guilty because I skipped my workout today and went out to dinner. I wasn't that bad as far as calories but still feel guilty. I might try to do the video twice tomorrow to make up for missing today.0

Level 1 - Day 5 completed with a calorie burn of 210 in 28 minutes. I use 5 lb. weights. I also did 56 minutes of Zumba this morning and an hour of Yogalates back to back. Still modifying the JJ's because my knees were starting to feel it when I actually did them a few days ago, but the bicycle crunches seemed easier today! :bigsmile:0

Man....one day of rest and today was HARD for me to get through. I did wall pushups instead (transverse ab is feeling a smidgeon better...couple more days and I think it'll be healed). Now I see why people don't want to take a day off...LOL! So, day 7, level 1 done. Only 23 more days...(that doesn't sound too encouraging to me right now.) /0

L1 Day 7 done and feeling good about it! HRM seemed consistent with yesterday at 287 calories burned today.
Tomorrow I will start L2. Planning on getting my ars kicked, but at this point, it will hopefully be a good thing!0 -

I've been doing my weigh-ins on Wednesday (since that is the day I joined MFP). But if I look at my weight when we started last Monday (181.8) to today (181.2)....that shows .6 loss. However...ugh...it's more of a gain since last Wednesday I had made it down to 179.6. / I'll count it as a .6 loss though...and weigh on Wednesday for my records (and hope that number has come back down since just yesterday I was 180.2). STOOPID WATER WEIGHT. / I've been eating back *most* of my exercise calories, although not all of them....and I don't know that this theory works for my body to lose weight consistently, unfortunately. It's been a couple of weeks that I've been testing it out for *me* and I think I may have to eat closer to the 1200 range rather than 1500-1600 (I normally burn 650-700 a day in exercise). ( ( (0

I slacked off all weekend and did not work out at all. The good news is I weighed in this morning and was down .6, I am happy with this considering my bad weekend. Hoping to do better next week.0

Helllllo! I'm back from camping/biking and it was great! I was able to eat well and still have a good time! I even worked soem beers into my calories! Over Fri, Sat, and Sun I only went over by 100 calories on Sunday as it was my rest day! I'm pretty please about that!
I didn't do 30ds at all this weekend BUT i did need a rest day (i'm awful about taking those) and on Saturday I rode 36.5 miles in ONE sitting! It was amazing! Not only was it a bike ride, but it was a mountain bike race that my husband and stumbled apon. Soooo I burned 3048 calories that day and it was amazing!
Anyway, back to 30ds tonight with the hubby and then I'm about to do my turbo fire workout after lunch! Got some cleaning and catching up to do! Good job everyone, keep going!0 -

I took yesterday and today off for rest! yesterday was my rest day, but today with all the exercising and sweating ive done all week, my thighs have chafed to the point i cannot stand to do 30ds today but it gives me a even bigger push to do this ! ( smaller thighs perhaps haha )0

chafing sucks! when i started exercising again i had to get new workout shorts/capris for exactly this reason, so i feel your pain! hope it eases so you can get back into the swing of things0 -

Hello all!
Workout completed! I gotta say, after that bike ride, I am SO SORE in the calves! Well not the calves, but right at the bottom of them! WOWZA- but I did it and they are getting easier every day. I still can't do the full 18-20 push ups, but i"m up to 14 the first set and 12 or 13 on the second set. That's pretty good being 6 days ago I could only do 10 slow ones!
Anyway, we are feeling good (my husband and I) and I love that we are all doing this together!0 -
Day 8 is done with level 2. Level 2 made me feel like I did on the first day of level 1 - was a good workout and I was pouring sweat by the end! Made it through and expect to be sore tomorrow.
Got to tell you though, some of the exercises did feel a bit tougher and require some balance.
My HRM said I burned 328 calories, a little bit above what I burned in level 1. We'll see how the next week progresses.

Day 9 complete. Is it just me or does it feel like its getting harder? I'm still doing level 1...but man, all the squats and lunges just feel like they take FOREVER and they burn so much worse now than they did before. I'm burning less calories during a workout than I did before (was burning 325-350 each session), now I get about 300. And I'm exhausted when I'm done. What gives!?0

I dont feel like it's getting harder, but I do feel like my motivation is going down. Not to say that I'm going to quit, but I didn't really talk back in the first few days. Now, as soon as Jillian goes off on her little speeches, I just roll my eyes and call her names. I despise the anterior raises, so once those are done I'm happy again, but I spend the entirety of the workout thinking about how much they're going to suck.
LUCKILY today was my last day of level 1. I'm glad to be done with it, since I'm not really sore anymore and am getting pretty bored with it. That being said, I'm pretty nervous to see what level 2 looks like, since level 1 still definitely gets me sweating and tired. As far as results, I'm not seeing as much as I'd like, but that's because the past few days have involved some craptastic eating. But I'm back on track for that, so I'm hoping the next two levels will show better results.0 -

Yeah, my motivation is going down as well...mainly because I'm bored. It's still very challenging but I'm TIRED of doing lunges and squats and blahblahblah. That and it BURNSSSSS. I think maybe pushing deeper in the moves and therefore it hurts more (trying to be less Anita and more Natalie, but that's a joke). I tried level 2 last week...hahahaha...it's killer. I want to move on (due to aforementioned boredom) but after having a taste of it, I'm hesitant. New areas on my body hurt after half-arsing that level 2 workout last week, that's for sure!
I also started (yesterday) adding in some free weights because I just do not feel a burn with the bicep curls (and no way can I handle heavier weights while doing lunges simultaneously). So I'm doing 10 and 15 lb bicep curls (12 reps, 2 sets) and some tricep french presses at 15 lbs, 12 reps, 2 sets (I think that's what it's called ~ holding onto one weight behind your head and pushing up). I'll increase the tricep weight probably tomorrow though as 15 didn't burn enough. It's a start...my arms (like the rest of my body) are very flabby from living a sedentary obese lifestyle for the past six years. I NEED to see some differences if I am going to stay motivated to kick my *kitten* everyday.0 -

Finished day 9 and the second day of L2. It's definitely working me over! I can see why people hate planks.
Trying to encourage the wife to get on board with 30DS and after a 20 minute break from L2 I did L1 with the wife.
HRM still seems to be consistent with about a 328 calorie burn for L2 and about 295 for L1.
L1 seems like a jog in the park after the last 2 days of L2.0 -
Gotta say, as much as I DID not want to do 30 DS today, I did! LOL It was great and I got a second wind during it all!
I burned 220 calories as opposed to 205 and that was after doing a pretty hardcore cardio workout. Soooo, LOVING I DID IT! Oh and my pushups were strong and steady. STill only 14, but so much better!
Looking forward to getting to Level 2! I think i am going to do that sometime next week! We'll see! I remember level 2 being quite a big more difficult! LOL Want to really master level 1 first!

Yes, it's very quiet in here. Sometimes I feel like I'm talking to myself, LOL! Where'd the rest of our "team" go?!?!?! Is there another thread we should be posting in?
So today is my usual weigh-in day...and I'm SO very excited to say I lost a whole pound since last week's weigh-in. That's a total of 3.2 lbs lost since beginning on the 21st. I ate nearly ALL of my exercise calories the last two days and still LOST....so I hope this is a trend.... ) last day of Level 1 today, Day 10....tomorrow I will start level 2.0
