Threw 2 more albums out, only pulled a few pics to keep. I never really thought about the fact that I haven't looked at some of them in 30, or more, years. And haven't seen most of these people since high school.4

Part of decluttering is not buying things.... Today, I went to the teacher store and bought some things for my classroom. Then, I was tempted to go to TJMaxx or Target to keep shopping. I told myself "What's the point?"- for a quick thrill of buying some things I really don't need, I will just have to lug them home and find places in my clean apartment for the purchases. So, I just came home and will read instead.
@NewLIFEstyle4ME I hope you're ok. I haven't seen any posts from you recently and I know how active you usually are. If you're on a trip or taking a break, then keep it going!! xo Thinking of you!7 -

1,000 apologies for being MIA, I have been and am sooooooo very very BUSY these days...and it's been nothing but tremendous trials, tribulations and more important, learning thru it all and having a "good" time too. I'm so GLAD that I've learned and am learning not to look at mere "good stuff" happening in/thru/to me as "good", but I'm rejoicing and counting it ALL JOY, as I experience again, trials and tribulations of life, it's literally "ALL GOOD" as "they" say. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!! I'm "passing" the patience, gentleness, kindness, being STRONG in The Lord and The POWER of His Might tests daily--YAY!!!! It's actually thrilling to walk daily in love and self-control--just fabulous!
Speaking of self-control, your girl over here is almost to my ultimate DREAM goal...I'm down another big ole 2.2lbs since last posting/weighing in:

I AM DOWN 78.2LBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Whatcha talking about? 78.2lbs is nothing less than amazing and I'm soooooo GLAD about it. WOW, 78.2lbs is a whole lot of weight blastification and I'm looking and feeling fabulous honey. I'm only 1.4lbs away from my goal of 140lbs (down from my highest 219.8) to my DREAM goal of 137lbs (or 4.4lbs away). When one is trying to lose a seemingly 10lbs or less, it's actually TOUGHER than losing a big bulk, but whatevah, I'm VERY close now again super mega ULTRA YAY!!!

Hi friends, got home last night to a clean house! Hubby cleaned, mopped, and even shampooed carpets. It was a wonderful feeling!

Girllllll...the "ugly" socks are a testimony to how BUSY I am these days AND my "cute" socks/slippers are dirty . But here's a pic for you any ole ways. Pls. note, they are still dirty AND the scale is up .2lbs from yesterday, but whatevah--I'm still in the 141's and I'm THRILLED about it!!!!!!

I think that the scale is up a bit because your cute socks are heavier than the dark ones, not because you gained wt of any kind2 -
I am back in my organizing mood! I don't call it "declutering" because every room in the house is in proper order (husband side of the office is an exception... ), but even when I do have order in my closet too, I needed to donate clothing items that I don't wear anymore. So I did that today.
I found a second hand boutique that is very put together, clean and organized but is not near my house so I have to make a special trip. I get disappointed with places where the drop-off for donation is a mess. I feel that it is a disrespect to the people that brings the donations, even if the actual store where items are sold is in order. OK, call me weird and picky.
This new boutique seem accept, and sell at a very discounted prices, clothing that are newer, seldom used, and of higher quality. The owner told me that they sell mostly to business people that need a variety of items and don't want to (or can't) spend a lot of money and to people that go back to the work force after a long hiatus. They don't get too many small or petite sizes items, so my donations were very appreciated. I think that they will be getting more business from me.

Was getting ready to mop today, moving the little trash can, and other things out of the way. I moved the trash can into the tub instead. All the small cans will be added tonight, soaked overnight, and scrubbed tomorrow. Its been way too long!6

I enjoy getting rid of things oddly esp with my background. I think why hold on to anything that is no longer serving you well. I remember the most eye-opening decluttering was last December while I was moving and packing I decided to go through my freezer and cabinets and go through spices and dry goods. I found so much that had been expired for years dating back 2012 and beyond. After purging I felt so light-headed and weak. Like I wish I had friends as it was a real wow moment for me that I just had to process alone. I think for all my years og being poor and never wanting to be without I would hold on to things just in case. I translate that to life in general as I know I have held on to different pain and pov's just in case as I never wanted to be blind sighted or just keep my guard up as I'm a woman of color and at that time I traveled for work a lot back so I was always ready. Now, I go through everything in my house from food to toiletries and if it has a date and it's gone it's out. It may not be hurting but its taking space and it's not adding to me. No more having stashes I want to get lean in all areas except for money I want to be loaded lol.14

What's so tremendous about this "lifestyle" of being and becoming more and more "leaner" in every area of our lives, we suddenly "find" ourselves with a little more and more money, because we become more "watchful" about how and where we spend our time and money.

I cannot, CANNOT persuade myself to get rid of my bike that was destroyed four weeks ago, even though today I took delivery of a new bike. I am not normally so sentimental about mechanical things. DH says that he's going to try to repair it so that I have a backup for when I need it.
It's so bizarre as we've just moved house, I have gotten rid of (literally) tons of stuff and yet I cannot bear even the thought of getting rid of my old unusable bike.
However, later on this week I will be recycling all of my degree notes bar my essays and dissertation. I have also decided, a little reluctantly, to get rid of my children's artwork AFTER I have photographed it all. Much as I love the drawings, there are a lot (four children who were prolific artists) of pics. The children don't want them so I think that photographing them is the solution.8 -

Yes honey, I've been thru a LOT...but ya know what, EVERYONE has and has their own tale of woe or UGH that's happened to them, is happening to them or will happen to them. I'm so GRATEFUL for my "experiencing a great deal", because God Himself has given me The/His Wisdom, Power and Courage/GRACE to finally face it ALL and humble myself and deal the YUCK a death blow, by doing the exact opposite of what is "normal" to do in the face of YUCK. By again, humbling myself, counting it ALL joy and Letting GO and NOT LOOKING BACK at the people, places and things that influenced me to be sad, mad and bad all the time. Nope, no more--WHEN (not if...but when) UGLY and YUCK (people, place and things) stare me in the face and tempt me to go back to the dark place of anger, bitterness, resentment, sadness and all that "mess"...my answer is NO and to replace all those things with their opposites:
Anger with Peace, patience and understanding
Bitterness with humility ( telling myself I could be wrong about this and even if I'm not wrong, bitterness equals "rottenness in my bones" AND makes my heart hard and me being all evil and impatient, vengeful and yuck"), therefore I reject it with being grateful for everything instead--including lessons finally learned and again, peace of mind.
Resentment w/wisdom and common sense--what's done is done...fool me once, shame on you--fool me twice, shame on me reality. Also, replacing resentment with a sense of valuing my time, knowing tomorrow's NOT promised to me, so living everyday as if it's my last and aint no body got time for resentment when today could be y/our last on on this earth, period.
Sadness: w/JOY unspeakable, no matter what. MAN! I wasted sooooooooo many good years and time in my life being sad--YUCK! I never knew I could live life utterly rejecting sadness as the bummer and energy/life zapper it is. I NEVER knew I could and should reject sadness with the quickness and see it as an utter enemy and NEVER embrace it or even allow it no more than a "wee bit" of my time and space. God Himself showed me/revealed this to me when I started this decluttering journey and I'm so glad He did. I look at sadness now ( I'm talking self-pity, victim mentality, woe-is-me, all that kind of waste of time and energy and sickness provoking) as a SIN. No matter what's happening in my life, I can overcome it--because God says I can and with Him I can, so aint nobody got NO TIME AT ALL for sadness, period. Here's a perfect example of utterly rejecting sadness. One of my children just took a super important test and got an 80. They were super SAD about it. because they wanted 100% or close to it--super sadness filled with resentment, bitterness and woe. They were saying they can not retake the test unless they failed it and they wished they would have failed instead. THIS is exactly they type of sadness I used to embrace and nurse all the time. I told them what I tell myself in these situations. BE GRATEFUL you passed and utterly reject any and all remorse, regret and sadness, because it's a LIE and promotes and influences all kinds of negative, depressing and nasty stinkin thinkin and feeling. BE GRATEFUL is what I replace sadness with and they thanked me profusely for sharing that.
All that "mess" w/cleanliness, orderliness, and love and appreciation for taking care of myself and the people, places and things around me. I love love and lovliness and that's what I replace "mess" with!

Hi all! I've been mia for a couple weeks. It's been a roller coaster ride lately. Hopefully, things are getting more "normal". I haven't been very productive in the decluttering dept. I have started washing the inside doors, trying to do 1 a day. Every little bit helps!4

Been thinking about you my friend. {{{{ Hugs }}}} on the roller coaster ride(s) lately. Every little steps does count and when "life" gets in the way, we give it it's way and then proceeds as usual, knowing life, "Murphy's Law" can and does show up, when we least expect it to...so as we "roll with the punches", we get knocked down, we pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and start all over again!

Never a truer thing said. I was talking to someone the other day who said that just when you think life is going along its straight road, you get thrown a curve ball. The comment that struck me most was that he said, "It's not WHAT happens to you, it's HOW you deal with it that matters." And he's right. A good philosophy.3 -

Decluttering is very liberating but I only get rid of my own stuff. I leave my husband's stuff alone. I won't allow myself buy a new item of clothing unless I get rid of something already in my wardrobe. If I am throwing something out I say to myself "may all my bad luck go with you" and sometimes I say "I bless you with joy and release you from my life" . I still have lots of stuff, more books than I will ever read, more cds than I will ever listen to but not nearly as much stuff as I used to have and I am very happy with less clutter.7

I say "MAJOR" contribution because I've NEVER thought to think, let alone "say" to the stuff I get rid of anything at all. Wow, again, I just love it and what you've contributed with help folk get rid of stuff a bit more easily. YAY YOU!!!!!
