1 mile per day challenge September 2019

I did something like this a couple years ago and actually stuck with it for the whole month. This is a very simple challenge: do some exercise that measures at least one mile every single day for the month. It can be walking, running, elliptical, rowing, skating, biking, whatever, just log at least 1 mile every single day. If you do more, great. If you don't, you still did a mile.

For our metric buddies around the world, this equals 1.61 km, if you would like to participate.

I want this to be intentional exercise, not just "I logged this many steps at work today and that equals X miles."

I decided to get serious about losing weight again and today is the first day of my new routine. I thought a challenge like this would be fun and keep me accountable. It's also something basically anyone can do, it's not just for gym rats.

This morning I got in a bit more than 1 mile walking my dogs and 3 miles on the elliptical. I will start updating everyday on Sept 1, but wanted to post this now to put the word out. Who's in? :)

What a great response! Looks like we have a good group going. :)

Not gonna lie, my doggoes make this easy for me. Want to be forced to exercise? Get huskies!

@duskyjewel My dog is a couch potato, so I'll be going it alone. Or carrying him. :)

I am starting a 4 week fitness challenge at work (I am the wellness coordinator) on Sept 1, so I will add this to my daily goals!

I have a little Shitzu and he loves going for walks so this will be even more fun having it be a challenge ;)

We are getting closer to our start date. I have been resting on the couch with my dog, saving up my energy for the first. :)

I will need to push myself, forntje past 6 months I’ve had a problem with my hip, I was born with the problem but didn’t find out until this year. The specialist said I’m too young for a hip replacement. I was told to do exercises and lose weight and see if that helps. I’ve been seeing a physio thearapist and he had me feeling a little. It better but the last few days I’ve been back into the excruciating pain. I have to push through because I know I can’t live on pain killers

Have you done any water exercise? The weightlessness & low impact may allow for increased activity. As your doctor or therapist for alternatives

@JeBeBu thanks I have done water exercises and it feels very good, but because it doesn’t hurt I go overboard then when I get out of the water I suffer, I need to find a happy medium

Maybe look into taking a class so there is a "stop" built in? Our local Y has all the traditional aerobics classes, but also a regular water walking class and an arthritis water walking class. I teach advanced aquacise (we incorporate dumbbells, resistance bands and balance balls) but there are options for so many fitness levels. I also do deep water aqua jogging, both tethered and free running

    First day official check in!

    Sunday September 1

Visiting family, took the huskies for a walk around the neighborhood. This equaled 1.4 miles. B)q4sbqxymes92.png

I went for a nine mile walk with my son this morning. My feet are telling me that this won't be happening again any time soon. :)

Been on MFP before and challenges are very helpful. Would like to join this for daily tracking if possible. I forget how this works, is there a formal join process or do we just post/edit post for progress updates?

Overachiever! Hope you're not too sore tomorrow. If I did 9 miles in one day, I'd be in traction. I used to be in good enough shape to do a 7 mile hike, hope to get there again.

Kind of a lazy day, but I did get in my mile walk and complete day 1 of my 4 week challenge. I have a Fitbit challenge kicking off tomorrow, too so I can't let down 3 seperate challenge groups and myself! Can't. Won't.
