So, I've been quiet lately, hoping to come back with good news. There is none, other than the fact that today I made an appointment with the lead mental health specialist at our local hospital. I've been putting this off but I realise that it's needed.

BMI as of the last 2 days - 16.5, although it was 16.1 last week (fluctuations, not fat). That's 5.4lbs down since I last posted (August 7th).

The earliest date I can get is September 4. It's better than nothing.

Many thanks to everyone that commented and advised on my previous threads, it's very true that "sometimes you can't see the wood for the trees".

I've been regularly checking the online appointment system and my original doctor now has appointments free for 16th September. I've booked one 👍

BMI is still 15.9 but I'm expecting a change tomorrow.

I think you should go to hospital and be evaluated instead of just using an online system. They may be able to bump you up in line if you do.

It's impossible to see a doctor without an appointment unfortunately. The system here is ridiculously irritating re; appointments - you can go direct to the relevant department secretary and be told you must call the appointment telephone number. When you call the number you are told you must go to the department secretary 🤯
The online system is new (first time we've tried to use it) and doesn't seem to be as straightforward as it could/should be.

I've got an appointment with the endocrinology department on 6th September as my last CT scan showed a polyp on my thyroid. I'm presuming that blood tests will be required (?), maybe all will show that I'm well 🤔

BMI today is still 15.9. I don't understand why ☹️

The most likely answer is you're eating roughly at maintenance or even a little below, since you've lost more than 5 1/2 lbs in the past month. Eat more.

No way am I eating at or anywhere near maintenance. I know the MFP rules/guidelines on these matters so I'm not going to say what my daily calorie intake is but it is NOT maintenance.

Using the past 8 weeks data my maintenance works out at 1700 calories/day. I'm consuming considerably less than that. I'm expecting a whoosh any day now.

OP if I remember from your previous thread you are in turkey but originally from UK? Can you fly home for a few months and get NHS treatment?
Treatment for an eating disorder is going to be talking based. Is that going to be an option for you if you stay where you are? Can you speak Turkish well enough or are there English speaking psychotherapists over there?
    Apologies if I have misremembered.

That's correct, I'm out in the sticks in Turkey. I wouldn't be entitled to or deserve free NHS treatment now and I don't believe in adding to the already huge strain on the NHS. Also, I know what treatment is offered there and how long it takes. I just couldn't spend that long there even if it were possible.

I'm hoping that the psychiatrist I see can speak English. If not, I know that the hospital has a translator. She's not great but better than nothing.

@sefajane1 I would rather be discussing this via PM, but last time I tried to send you one you didn't get it!

@PAV8888 my understanding is that you now have to be "friends" in order to get PMs - did you first try sending her a friend request?

I've sent out PM's before and some people responded while others did not--but I didn't consider that they might not have received the message! I stopped adding friends a few years back, so it would make me sad if this is a new requirement!
