Flavors of Childhood?

Got this idea from looking at the "if it didn't have calories post" but it seems like a lot of the things that people post about are things that they had growing up! I know that for me when I'm craving things I crave stuff that i ate growing up. One of my biggest cravings right now is a GIANT Loco Moco picture below. I grew up in Hawaii and ate this all the time!
I recognize that this looks like a giant pile of dog food but i promise it's delish!

Kool Aid, Mom's homemade macaroni and cheese, Mom's homemade ice pops, Dad's Indian bread (he would get up at 3 or 4 a.m. to make/knead the dough), Mom's baked apples and apple crisp, Dairy Queen's small vanilla cone with cherry dip, Hamburger Helper beef stroganoff and skillet lasagna, Lakshmi's dahi vadas...
I could go on for ages! Great topic although it's making me a bit sad.
P.S. Red L cheese puffs, The Paris Bake Shop's pistachio tarts...9 -
Your loco moco looks good, and I could easily be happy with that.
I loved cheese dreams. Half a toasted hamburger bun with a little butter, a slice of crispy bacon, cut in half, a slice of cheese, and a slice of tomato on top. Under the broiler, but not right under, until the cheese melts and the tomato gets juicy and the tomato juice runs all down your chin when you take a bite.8 -
Anything my Dad made. I was such an unappreciative certifiable brat. He would make gelato, chocolates, chippies, you name it ... He made them for us. I would love just one of those treats or dishes now.24

That sounds amazing, and I love the name of your food! Cheese dreams!2 -

This reminds me of that dish that @joemac shared called "the garbage plate."1 -
My mom' s chocolate chip cookies 💚🍘🥛she made them sooo good and with a special sweetness literally and figuratively. I would love to pick at the raw dough then scrape the bowl. Then when she baked them the crispy edges and gooey middle
..gosh I can truly taste them even now.
I would use my calorie knowledge powers, forget about severe gluten, flour- wheat and egg sensitivity- Stomach condition and alot for that, maybe as 80 percent for a day with vanilla chocolate coconut milk as the only other item! 🍘🥛
Gosh I miss her so much 🙏💚🦋🏵😢11 -
My grandma made graham cracker/frosting "sandwiches" for us, and hot jello to drink when we were sick. Oh, and cinnamon toast.
(When I went looking for a image for cinnamon toast, I found it in a recipe site. Who in the kitten needs a recipe for cinnamon toast?!?)

Hot buttered Cheerios.
Fried bologna sandwiches.
English muffin pizzas in the toaster oven.
Also, the cinnamon toast...YES.11 -
YUM! Loco Moco is one of my favorite meals right now, even my husband's healthier version (Morningstar griller, egg, brown rice & vegetarian "beef" broth gravy)!
I never heard of it as a kid though...I grew up in the Midwest where some of my biggest childhood favorites are Pizza Hut personal pan pepperoni pizzas (Book It! anyone?) and brown beans served with buttered cornbread and a squirt of ketchup on the beans.5 -

my mom made this for me...even when I was like 28, she would send me home with them in a Rubbermaid container and I'd polish those bad boys off with milk. Delish.4 -

Full disclosure: just last weekend I made exactly 2 of these (mixed up a crazy-tiny bowl of frosting and everything). It felt so sad LMAO3 -

Bless Book It! and the pizza that came. I didn't have to share a pizza with my brother, it was MINE. I also loved being able to sit and read half the day at school. I liked books more than people.11 -
My moms crepes, raspberry cream cheese bars and my dads pancakes. He used club soda and milk instead of water to make them super fluffy

Super random, but does anyone who was a kid in the 2000s remember those yogurt-covered cluster-like snacks that came in pouches?? They were like crunchy... chocolaty and strawberry. I'm searching but can't find any pictures!0
