Hell House LLC is really good. the sequels are okay- not as good as the first, but not bad either.
The Blackwell Ghost is pretty spooky, but its really short, only like an hour long.
Savageland is phenomenal, sort of a mockumentary style if that's your thing.
Stake Land 1 & 2 are both awesome4 -

I would add Blair Witch Project, love it or hate its significant in the genre.4 -
Haunting of Hill House was also very good. I didn’t think it was that scary but the drama and characters are great
It Follows
The Shining
Let the Right One In
Halloween (70s one)6 -

Looks like I did it by accident while scrolling. I took it off. Sorry for the confusion. I don’t disagree with that post.1 -
Oh ok, that's what i thought but didn't know if it was someone here or someone else. I was confused.0

Modern horror movies aren’t really scary to me as much as creepy/gory with lots of startle scenes. I can’t be scared by ghost or spirit films since I don’t believe in that and they are hence too fake to me. Stuff that can really happen, like a serial killer, really gets me.
Recently saw Ready or Not which I liked. It is a Ryan Murphy film which I like and had a Jordan Peele feel to it also.
I liked Don’t Breathe from a couple years ago.
Older scary films I liked were
Saw
The Strangers
Texas Chainsaw (original or remake, not prequel)
Silence of the Lambs
Candy man
Hitcher

How do you feel about foreign films where you have to read subtitles? If you're okay with that, I can recommend:
Oldboy
Memento Mori
Forest of Death
Re-Cycle
Spider Forest
Uzumaki
