NEVER GIVE UP! You can surprise yourself! I have.
What we need to succeed is a sustainable way of eating, not a DIET we go on and off.
This is NOT A DIET. It’s a LIFESTYLE.
10/29 119.5
*******
10/30 120.5 Great workout yesterday but terrible headache this morning. I know it’s the arthritis in my neck and it will pass. I changed some settings Senza so it adjusts my calories according my burn at the gym so I had more calories but was still under 10g total carbs. I’m sure the uptick is water retention for muscle recovery. HoopsGuy72, you have inspired me! Carl went to the gym and I’m getting ready to go myself!
10/31 121.0 I enjoyed the gym yesterday! WHAT??? Unfortunately, maybe too much. My left shoulder and both of my ankles hurt. I will probably go this morning but take it easy.
11/1 121.0 Limited workout yesterday but skipping the gym today. Going to a craft show at World Market with a friend. She needs to buy prizes for a charity shoot she has arranged.
11/2 121.0 DH has poker this afternoon so I will go to the gym then. I am going back to my old every other day schedule from 10-11 years ago.
11/3 120.5
11/4 121.0 I was over on everything yesterday! May not have had enough water. We picked up friends at the airport and had discussed eating out with them - they had been on a 10.5 hour flight followed by 1.5 hour with barely enough time to clear customs and get to the last flight. Anyway, didn’t eat out so came home and make eggplant parm with mozzarella meatballs. I was getting really hungry and overdid my OMAD. This too shall pass!
11/5 122.0 According to my HRM, I burned 564 calories at the gym yesterday! I should have had a protein shake when I got home. Greek salad w/gyro meat for lunch. I ate 2 eggs & 2 oz of cheddar at 7:30 last night because my protein intake was so low for the day and my stomach was growling.
11/6 123.0 Things hurt all over. I really increased the weights I did yesterday I’m relatively sure that is the explanation for the upticks. I WANT to go to the gym but think I need a day off. I can’t believe I have allowed myself to get as weak as I have.9 -
quiltingjaine wrote: »@tinabambina29 I say it every round - what you eat today my take TWO TO THREE DAYS to show up on the scale. It isn’t instantaneous. It took me decades to realize this. Others have denied it and then realized it was true.
@tinabambina29 and @quiltingjaine Sometimes our transgressions show up on the scale the very next morning and we feel we can quickly resolve it. However, quiltingjaine is right....sometimes it takes a couple of days which is baffling & frustrating when we've just come from a great day & night. It seems like we'll never get to our goal! Knowing this can help keep you in line. If you know you may still be seeing scale changes & battling them later in the week than you thought, it will help you make the best choices you can as often as you can. Don't give up! We all have tempting choices, travel times, social engagements, work pressures etc. Just soldier on and realize that the process is sometimes slow, but the progress is real over time. The journaling really really helps me go back & see what choices hurt me the most. Information=success. My best to you. You've been doing well & I love watching your journey!5 -

Total loss since returning: 7.8 lbs/1.0% BF
Average loss per round: 0.87 lbs/0.11% BF
Goal for this round: Get under 220 (same as last round). Plan better when I'm having "cheat" days (parties, eating out with family and friends, et cetera). Limit alcohol intake (no more than two drinks on any occasion, stick with red wine or spirit + diet soda).
Day/Weight/Comment
10/30: 221.2 (-0.2)/18.6 (0.0). I'll take anything as long as there's a "-" next to it. I didn't feel well last night, so I didn't make it to the gym. I'll get there tonight, though. I still feel like I'm on a good track, but I need to notice that yesterday was the first time that I have missed the gym in a long time. In the past, this would be "one of those things" that might throw me off. I really want to get this right this time. I've "gotten it right" before, but I need to figure out how to maintain it once I get there. I REALLY want this. I need to stay focused.
10/31: 220.6 (-0.6)/18.6 (0.0). I went to the gym last night and pushed myself, even though I am pretty sure my back is "out of whack." It went fine, but I'm really looking forward to my visit with the chiropractor on Monday. It's hilarious how it takes one day to really screw up, but it takes multiple days (sometimes even a week) to make up for it. I need to try to remember not to get the "binge" attitude: when a "cheat item" or a "cheat meal" turns into a "cheat day." The earlier I end my binge behavior, the less damage I do (and less time I have to spend "making up" for it).
11/1: 221.6 (+1.0)/18.6 (0.0). What do you get when you have a surprise Halloween gathering celebrating your sister-in-law's birthday? One pound, apparently. She bought pizza from my favorite place; I had three small slices. There was cake; I had a tiny piece. She made cupcakes; I cut the bottom off, and only at the top. Add in one beer, and about 1.5 ounces of sweet red wine. I'm listing everything because I'm actually kind of proud of myself. I could have (and likely would have) eaten three times what I consumed yesterday, but I tried my best to stay in control while still indulging "a bit." I'll be in the gym tonight!
11/2: 219.6 (-2.0)/18.4 (-0.2). I did not get a chance to post, but I went to the gym the night before. I generally seem to get good weigh-ins the day after the gym.
11/3: 219.2 (-0.4)/18.4 (0.0). I played basketball yesterday, and I felt pretty crappy. Still, a bad day at basketball is better than just about any other day. I also played miniature golf with my wife's family for her sister's birthday. I'm headed to the gym this morning. This weight (219.2) is equals the lowest I've been since I've been back to these challenges. I'm going to work hard today and hope for a bit of a breakthrough when I weigh in tomorrow.
11/4: 219.0 (-0.2)/18.4 (0.0). I went to the gym yesterday to lift weights and ate reasonably well. I limited myself at dinner to "stopping when I'm not hungry." As a result, there was a bunch of food left over that normally would have been in my belly that night. I made it through a weekend weighing less than I did on Friday morning!
11/5: 220.0 (+1.0)/18.4 (0.0). I had a stressful day yesterday, and I had a bit of a "slip" in the evening related to leftover Halloween candy (six small bars). There was not a lot of damage done; I'm going to work on keeping this slip to one evening. Gym night tonight!
11/6: 219.2 (-0.8)/18.4 (0.0). I did not go to the gym yesterday, but I DID eat well. I went to the chiropractor on Monday, and I was still pretty sore yesterday, so I will instead go to the gym tonight with my wife. I like that I'm hovering at 220 or under. I know that my average weight for a challenge says just as much (if not much more) than my starting and ending weight for a challenge. I'm still feeling a bit stressed at work (I have a huge deadline next Friday that is going to require me to work my @$$ off), but there's a light at the end of the tunnel. I'm going to try to focus on that light and get to work. Side note - I had something yesterday that had peanut butter in it (although, to be fair, it was "whipped" peanut butter), and I did not hate it. Anyone who knows me knows that peanut butter is the most disgusting substance in the world (to me). Now I have to rethink that... at least a little bit.

10/29 …..188.0….. ENDING WEIGHT LAST ROUND
10/30 …..188.0 ….. Yesterday’s stats: 1273 Calories In / 2617 Calories Out. 25 Net Carbs. 17,508 Total Steps & 7.41 Total Miles. 12/13 Fitbit Step Hours. I slept 4 hours on the button I went for a hall walk in the school (cold outside) for 124 minutes at about 3.0 mph. The extra calorie burn was 694. Good luck everyone this round.
10/31 …..190.2 …..
11/01 …..188.0 ….. Yesterday’s stats: 797 Calories In / 2459 Calories Out. 12 Net Carbs. 14,002 Total Steps & 5.92 Total Miles. 13/13 Fitbit Step Hours. I slept 6 hours & 15 minutes. I walked for 103 minutes at 2.5 mph for a total extra calorie burn of 463.
11/02 …..188.0 ….. Yesterday’s stats: 1551 Calories In / 2585 Calories Out. 78 Net Carbs. 16,472 Total Steps & 6.97 Total Miles. 12/13 Fitbit Step Hours. I slept 6 hours & 38 minutes. I Hall walked the school with my walking partner for 107 minutes at about 3.0 mph burning an extra 612 calories.
11/03 …..185.6 ….. Yesterday’s stats: 565 Calories In / 2566 Calories Out. 9 Net Carbs. 14,275 Total Steps & 6.04 Total Miles. 11/13 Fitbit Step Hours. I slept 4 hours & 49 minutes which included my extra hour for Daylight Savings Time. I walked for 67 minutes at a moderate pace burning an extra 316 Calories.
11/04 …..186.0 ….. Yesterday's weight was a bit unrealistic due to a lack of solid calories the day before. "Too good to be true". Yesterday I ate back my workout calories & carbs but stayed within the perimeters. Perhaps a bit too much sodium so I will focus on water today. Yesterday’s stats: 1501 Calories In / 2617 Calories Out. 61 Net Carbs. 14,381 Total Steps & 6.09 Total Miles. 12/13 Fitbit Step Hours. I slept 5 hours & 24 minutes and woke up very tired, dragging. I proved my commitment to myself by walking in FREEZING COLD TEMPS at early dark in my neighborhood for 46 minutes and burned an extra 271 calories. I walked at 3.5 mph to get my freezing butt home quickly! I watched for bears and carried my bear spray. Today I plan on walking inside the school which is unavailable most weekends. I am at goal for the round today. Now, to keep up the momentum! Have a great week everyone!
11/05 …..186.0 ….. Holding steady. They have scheduled my CT scan for Nov 11 (Monday). More travel on that day since I am so far from hospital. Yesterday’s stats: 1014 Calories In / 2733 Calories Out. 16 Net Carbs. 17,202 Total Steps & 7.28 Total Miles. 13/13 Fitbit Step Hours. I slept 2 hours & 40 minutes. Not enough, I know. I walked for 98 minutes inside the school at 3.0 mph burning an extra 515 calories over my normal daily routines. I also fit in 13 minutes of aerobics last night after I closed out my MFP day burning an additional 65 calories.
11/06 …..186.0 ….. I’m not gonna lie. I was hoping for a lower number or fraction of a pound on the scale but it is what it is. Sometimes trying to lose a pound feels like watching a drop of water trying to drip from a spigot. It’s looming right there on the rim, ready to fall anytime but just won’t drop. I continue to trust the process and wait for my rightful next number to show up! Patience is definitely part of this process. Yesterday’s stats: 1315 Calories In / 2689 Calories Out. 29 Net Carbs of mostly friendly veggies. 17,219 total Steps & 7.29 Total Miles. (Almost identical to yesterday’s activity!) 13/13 Fitbit Step Hours. I slept 4 hours & 47 minutes waking up refreshed. I walked in the school hallways (mall walking) for 83 minutes at 3.0 mph burning an extra 443. I did 22 minutes of aerobics burning 160 calories. Total extra caloie burn was 603.

5: 209.8 Exhausted again today, though I did get a more reasonable amount of sleep last night. Took a nap yesterday and today. Pretty sure my body is working overtime so that I won't get the nasty cold my 2 younger kids both have. No IF today. Followed my hunger that came a few hours early compared to my normal ease of 16:8. Figured my body must need it if I'm hungry during a time when I haven't been for months. I intend to still stop eating at 7, unless I feel legitimate hunger then, which also hasn't happened in months. I think my adjusted goal for this round is simply to support my immune system.
6: 208.8 What a pleasant surprise to see the scale down again! I finished eating by 7pm. Then fell asleep shortly after 9 and woke up naturally at 5:30 in the exact same position. Feeling much better today! Spent about 30 minutes shoveling, so I could get the kids to school. It kept snowing though, so I'm heading back out to do it again shortly now that it's stopped.

▪10/30 -182 - IF/18.5hrs. 12g carbs. Meal times~ 2:30, 5:30, 7:30.
▪10/31 - 181.8 - IF/21.5hrs. 21g carbs. Meal times~ 5pm, 7:30.
▪11/1 - 183 - Currently, I really do not know what my actual weight is. I weigh early a.m. every day, usually before 12 fasted hours are completed. I hardly ever feel hungry. Fasted for 24.5hrs/not intentional. 20g carbs. Meal time~ 8pm.
▪11/2 - 182 - IF/21.5hrs. 20g carbs.
Meal time~ 5pm.
▪11/3 - 183.6 😦 - IF/20hrs. 17g carbs. Meal times~ 2pm, 7:30.
▪11/4 - 183.6 - IF/17.5hrs. 40g carbs, 20g net carbs.(seed porridge) Meal times~ 1pm, 7pm.
▪11/5 - 184.4 - Early weigh in again. I took some magnesium citrate yesterday. It did nothing but fill my gut with more fluid and add an extra
.8lbs. Smh.
IF/20.5hrs. 27g carbs, 9g net carbs.(seed porridge) Meal times~ 3:30, 8pm.
11/6 - 184.4 - IF/16.5hrs. 48g carbs. Meal times~ 3:30, 7:30. I raised my calories to 1425 and carbs to 50g yesterday. Also dropping my IF hours back to 16/8, maybe 12/12 in the weeks ahead. Everything that I've been reading suggests more carbs to heal adrenal fatigue, specifically more wholegrain carbs. Not doing that, but more vegetables and maybe a serving or two of starchy veg this week, like squash and sweet potato.

Its all about the overall trend being what you want it to be
Thanks!! It's just been a very frustrating couple of weeks. Those cycles always mess me up and I feel it coming Thank you for all the support5 -

10/30--206.5 Finished W3D1 of c25k yesterday. Another great fall day to go out and run. Strength coach tonight.
10/31--206.3 Tough workout with my coach yesterday, but I am definitely seeing progress. This morning I decided to try on these boots I haven't been able to wear for the past 2 years because my calves had gotten too big. Well, not only am I wearing them today, but I also have my jeans tucked into them!
11/01--207.6 I'm not surprised about the jump. Between soreness from my workout 2 days ago, not great sleep last night, and lack of water over the past 2 days, the jump on the scale was expected. Goal for today is to drink water. I finished W3D2 last night. Tonight is the gym.
11/02--207.6 Yesterday I reintroduced a food into my diet that I was tested as sensitive to almost a year ago. I'm supposed to reintroduce the food over 3 meals and then see how it affects me over the next 1-3 days. Well, after eating the food for only one meal yesterday, I can already tell that it still affects me, so I'm not going to be eating anymore of it. There is definite bloating and heaviness this morning, so I'm surprised there wasn't a jump in the scale today, but that may change over the next couple of days. My plan is to make sure I drink a lot of water today. Movie and dinner with a friend tonight.
11/03--207.6 I feel so much better this morning, I slept for almost 10 hours! The bloated feeling and heaviness from yesterday is gone. Last night I went out and saw a movie and went out for dinner, but before I went to the movies I did w3d3 of c25k, even though I hadn't planned to go out for a run. I saw my strength coach this morning and it was great. Plan is to relax for the rest of the morning.
11/04--207.4 Rest day today.
11/05--206.7 I ended up snacking more than usual yesterday evening. Looking back, I'm not sure why I did it. A part of me is wondering if the fact that it is now getting darker faster than usual has something to do with it. Regardless, I am over it. Going out for a run tonight, hopefully I can finish the run before it gets too dark outside.
11/06--206.7 So, I wasn't over the snacking and I did some more snacking last night. Now I'm really over it. I also did not go out for a run last night, but today is a new day and I have my strength coach tonight.

@tinabambina29 Sometimes I’ll see the bounce up from a high day the next day, sometimes it’s a day or two later. I’m betting that you’ll see a drop within a few days hang in there.
@beachwalker99 Happy birthday!

Will this be the round that I hit my goal for this year? It will be if I get serious and end the eating out. My goal for this round is at least a two pound loss.
10/30 284.6 This bounce up is nothing more than the usual ovulation bounce up. I actually went back over my weight and ovulation times to prove it to myself. If all goes the same as the past it should be gone tomorrow or at worst in two days.
10/31 282.2 And the whoosh. I do have a small family party and eat out planned today, but I preplanned them and know what I can have to stay in calorie goals. I might still see a bounce tomorrow from sodium, but I’m positive I will reach my goal for this year by Monday at the latest.
11/01 281.4 I stayed on plan yesterday! I wasn’t expecting another drop today, but I’m happy seeing it. This loss puts me a little under my 100 pound loss goal for this year. I’m going to shoot for at least another 8 before the Christmas holiday.
11/02 280.4 I’m sure this freefall will end soon. I suspected that I had been retaining water for awhile now from the new exercise bike, but I didn’t think it was this much.
11/03 279.4 Still in free fall. Don’t worry I’m not starving myself and am eating at a decent calorie level.
11/04 278.8 I was so busy with errands yesterday, but I did them all between meals and made sure that I was at home near meal times so that I didn’t grab something out. Because of this I didn’t drink enough yesterday and I feel dehydrated today. On the plus side I don’t have anything planned until Thursday so I can rest a little and recover from my weekend.
11/05 278.2 I upped my morning walk yesterday from 20 minutes to 35 minutes. I also did the Just Dance arm movements while I did my exercise bike so I’m happy that the increased activity didn’t end in a bump up. Today I’m a little sore so I might take it a little easier than I have the last few days.
11/06 277.4 So I keep saying that I’m going to rest, and I still haven’t done it. Today I’m going to try to force myself to take it a little easier and have a rest day.

10/30:205.4- Yayyyy! Not as much as I was hoping for, but still happy it's going down. Now to leave the 205 zone.
10/31:205.4-No gain, but no loss which is kind of annoying. I did really good and think I messed up lat night when I went to the new boba place in town. I didn't get boba, just a green tea with cream topping, but think the sweetener and topping threw my body off. Staying in tonight and might get a keto pizza from Blaze. Happy Halloween!
11/1:205-This is awesome! I'm so shocked because even though I had a salad for lunch I had a Popeyes leg and wing and mashed potatoes for dinner AND half a Blaze pizza. The pizza was a keto pizza though, so maybe that helped Still I'm surprised! So close to 204 come onnnnnn
11/2:205.4-
11/3:DNW
11/4:205.6-Not so happy about this gain, but the amount of horrible I ate this weekend I honestly welcome only .6 of a gain. Back on it today. Feeling a lot better compared to last week. Getting my food logged today and have meal prepped for most of the days this week. Trying to get my water up and back into the gym.
11/5:206.6-Beyond pissed! I got so mad when I got on the scale. How do I go from eating so bad on Sunday and only gain .5lb, but yesterday I ate healthy, walked, drank water AND got in the gym and I gain A POUND! I'm hoping it's water weight or some other sorcery because I'm annoyed. >:[
11/6:206.2-Happy for my little loss, but still bummed.

Female, 5’8”, 68 YO.
This is my third complete round, lost a few pounds on the first go round, maintained last round, hoping to drop a pound this time around. More would be welcomed, but as I’m within the healthy weight range for my height, I’ve round it gets harder and harder to drop and keep it off. But y’all are inspiring me, and I haven’t gone off target/plan since joining these challenges, so thanks HEAPS!

10/30 157.6 SMH, I'm up .2 pounds from yesterday, the end of round 93. Stress eating though, due to death in the family, so hoping I can overcome this soon.
10/31 156.4 No excitement... on our way home from our walk with the dogs, I had my mind on my brother, on a song that wouldn't leave my head, everywhere except on where I was putting my feet. Stepped 1/2 off the asphalt, twisted and sprained my right ankle and wrist, bruised and scraped my left knee, shin and elbow, and my cheek bone bounced off a nice big stone! So... no treat on my Halloween, just tricks! ROFL Have a great Halloween y'all, I will, but now, from a sitting position! ROFL
11/01 ? Ankle was too sore to balance on the scale
11/02 157.4 expected this, sitting on your rear all day does this to a gal. SMH
11/03 157.0 got in a small walk yesterday, had salad with no meat for dinner, and it did the trick.
11/04 156.8
11/05 157.6 I blame that 12oz T bone steak for dinner, along with that long hard roll... ROFL Tomorrow is another day.
11/06 156.8 that 6 mile hike yesterday paid off.

Round 94:
Female, 57 yy, 4'11''
OSW: 177.1 lbs
LTG: 105 - 110.0 lbs or BF 23-25%
STG: 110 (next milestone)
Goals for 10 day Challenge: reach 114 - upper end of ideal weight for my height.
Day/Weight/Comment
10/30 114.8, %BF 27.5 Reached my STG of last round now! (be below 115) but better late than never! Expect wt may go back up tomorrow and I’ll bounce around here, but just might be possible to reach the upper end of the ideal weight range for my height this round. In the meantime goal is to keep working on increasing muscle mass (seems to be working according to scale) with the increase in calories and burning fat. Early morning spin class for cardio today!
10/31 116.4, BF% 27.9 OK maybe I should not predict that it will go up cuz it seems to come true -lol ! Pasta for dinner last night so expect a lot of the gain is water with the carbs/glycogen storage (and food retention) - but was refueled for step aerobics this am!!! Switched to using two risers to increase HR during class so got a high intensity workout in. Strength training with trainer afterwards - we are on to the Stage 4 workouts from Strong (Schuler & Cosgrove of NROLW) for the next month. Halloween get together with neighbors tonight (pizza) so have pre-logged and should be in my macros (higher calories on weight day help!) Hoping that the strong storms (under tornado watch) that are predicted hold off until after trick-or-treating! Even with the ups/downs after the last two weeks of higher calories, Happy Scale thinks my current loss rate is 0.47 lbs/week so looks like that is in line with my estimated TDEE and calorie targets so trend is more important than the noisy day to day measurements!
11/01 115.2 BF% 27.6 yeah! Heading back in the right direction! (even with pizza & wine last night- all in moderation)
11/02 114.4 BF% 27.5 yeah!!! Back below weight at start of the round! Step aerobics in the morning and then went back in the late afternoon for spin !
11/03 114.4 BF% 27.4 Holding steady! Did Xtrain class in the morning and increased power on bike to 213 watts (PWR 4.1). Did strength workout in afternoon Stage 4B from “Strong” - arms are still a bit sore as are glutes from deadlifts but should sleep well tonight!
11/04 114.0 BF% 27.3 Thrilled that I made round goal weight (the upper end of the ideal weight range for my height) even if it does bounce back up! Still want to reduce BF more, so will continue cutting and trying to conserve muscle to reduce BF to get to next STG of 110 (probably sometime in December). At that point I’ll reassess whether to work on body recomp or drop to 105 (current LTG). Going forward focus will be more on BF than scale. Rest day for weights, but did “easy” spin class tonight.
11/05 113.8, BF% 27.3 Surprised with this drop, but will take it! Wondering if the higher calories are helping with consistency in drops compared to previous weeks ??? Tuesday is heavy weight/lower rep training, so may have some DOMS tomorrow! Heading back to the gym after work so that I can get my cardio in before dinner (it also seems to help stretch quads after squats!) Also high calorie day (on strength days) so hit 1625 on the nose! Trying a sunbasket meal kit for “Cheesy Fusilli with leeks and wilted greens” tonight - basically mac-n-cheese that will make one of my daughters happy (OK I like mac-n-cheese too :-) but should hit the spot after a long day!
11/06 113.8, BF% 27.3 Held it even with the higher calorie/weight day yesterday!!! And no DOMS either (so far!) Cardio after work (spin class) today. NSV: can wear an old ring that I’ve had since I was a kid; other rings (were on ring fingers) have to move to middle fingers! (though keep forgetting to put them back on after lifting!)

Day/Weight/Comment
10/30: 292.0 lbs (+1.4) .. bit of an uptick this morning, nothing too bad. Most likely going to take it pretty easy today aside from some walking.
10/31: 290.9 lbs (-1.1) … back down near my current low weight. Had a good run this morning, 3 miles over 40 minutes. It was warmer than normal for this time of year, but rainy. The rain felt pretty good though! I have my second strength training personal trainer session this evening after work, then I’m manning the door for trick or treaters for the remainder of the evening.
11/01: 292.2 lbs (+1.3) … pushed my calories yesterday slightly higher than I have for the past week or so, and ate a bit more carb-heavy than typical. I’m just glad that I’m hovering in the 290-292 range instead of staying at 295 like I was for the last few weeks.
11/02: 292.4 lbs (+0.2) … didn’t go out for a run this morning as planned… my legs were really sore from the gym on Thursday night. We’ll see how I feel in the morning. Likely going to take it easy today and rest.
11/03: 293.5 lbs (+1.1)
11/04: 294.3 lbs (+0.8) … the number on the scale keeps creeping up. Been eating well within my budget, so it's not food related. Was a bit frustrated about it until I read this morning that it's pretty common when you're beginning strength training and have sore muscles.
11/05: 291.7 lbs (-2.6) … there we go, a little recovery from recent upticks. At this point I’d be happy if I broke even this round, but hopefully I can show at least a little bit of loss in the next 4 days. Last night I had my third session with my personal trainer, an hour long. Still feeling a bit spaghetti-legged from that this morning, but not sore... yet. We'll see how I feel tomorrow I guess. Lastly, I noticed this morning that my shirts are fitting a bit better around the stomach — so even if I’m not losing pounds, I’m still making progress.
11/06: 292.7 lbs (+1.0) … more water retention fun! I’m pretty certain that’s what the uptick is. My legs and shoulders are pretty sore from Monday’s session at the gym. Trying to be more active today to shed the extra weight. I'm up to about 2 hours walking and 11,500 steps so far at 2pm.

Round 94 – Oct. 30 to Nov. 7/ 2019
Female, 5’, 66 years. Goals – finish calorie log each day, only yogurt or fruit in the evening and nothing after 9 p.m. SW – 163.4, GW – 162, UGW – 140. (This really should be 125 or 130 but that seems like such a long ways to go and 140 would be a huge improvement.) Planning to get my winter gym membership this round and get back to regular 2-3 times a week workout. Before that though will take a few days of catch up and plan.
Day/Weight/Comment
10/30 – 163.4 – Not such a great day, but didn’t go totally overboard and now am finished with the Tues. p.m. class. Also got a skiff of snow so the next 3 days I’m going to spend tidying up outside and putting leaves through the chopper and then I’m done with outside stuff! Yay, and back to the gym for my exercise.
10/31 – 164.2 – This is what I expected to see yesterday. Getting close to my all-time high weight. Good day yesterday though, no LNS and reasonable meals. No exercise but did do a gym membership online last night. We have a concert coming up beginning of Dec. and I either must shrink around the middle or get a new top. This is my last year with them so just want to keep the old one. I am doing an online sewing/fitting class so had to take detailed measurements – we’ll see how far I can get this round and in Nov.
11/01- 164.8 – I think; slept in and had to run off to a funeral but I did weigh.
11/02- 164.4 – Clean house day and work on sewing class (no exercise there). I did do some morning exercise though.
11/03 - 164
11/04 – 164.2 – Was going along swimmingly yesterday until I found the chocolate covered ginger that I’d forgotten about. Not a low cal LNS for sure. Fortunately I had been smart enough to only buy about a cup. As a result of that self-sabotage, I’ve decided to go for a no-treat November. I don’t have any in the house now and am not going to buy any this month. DH has his vanilla ice cream that I don’t care for and the occasional pop which doesn’t tempt me.
11/05 – Busy day and forgot to record weight
11/06 – 163.4 – No LNS and finally going down. Just wish I hadn’t gone up first

Gardening season wraps up tomorrow, just some hard pruning next week and a couple of yards of mulch to move. Winter for me involves lots and lots of exercise so I’m hoping I can get things moving in the right direction.

So I am back for another round. My goals will be the same as last since I didn't make any progress in round 93. I would like to be under 144.0 for every weigh-in and have at least 60% of them be under 142.0. My husband turns 39 on the 7th and our last weigh-in is the day after. We also have to deal with Halloween, so this round may be a little tricky. Although I know I am kind of being selfish, but I really want to get out of the 140's, so I have decided not to pass out candy this year. All 5 of my kids will be out or doing other things, so I am not going to temp myself at all. I guess not having any little kids anymore makes this year a little easier. I do feel guilty about the other neighborhood kids, but I am taking this year off and not bringing bags of candy into the house.
(I only include the last 5 rounds of results)
Round 89: 147.0 - 143.7 Avg 144.99
Round 90: 143.7 - 140.9 Avg 142.68
Round 91: 140.9 - 143.6 Avg 143.62
Round 92: 143.6 - 141.5 Avg 142.01
Round 93: 141.5 - 142.3 Avg 143.21
10/30 - 140.7 Finally!!!! A new low!!! Now it's only by 2/10 of a pound, but I am taking it and running. Was on track all day yesterday and stuck to my no alcohol. Will do the same today and hope for another, hopefully bigger drop tomorrow.
10/31 - 140.7 same as yesterday. So I am ending October with an entire 2/10 of a pound loss. Not thrilled, but I have to accept it and move on. The good news is my monthly moving average is down 2.2 pounds according to my happy scale. I am pretty much losing about a pound to a pound and a half a month right now. I am at about 22.5 on my BMI chart, so in the healthy range and am ok with how my clothes fit. I think it's just vanity that I want to weigh in the 130's, lol. I don't really think anything is going to change if the scale says 140.7 or 138.7, but it will make me happy, so I will continue working on it. No alcohol again last night and stayed on track food wise. I have only drank 2 days out of the last 10 and that is huge for me, so I am going to continue trying to go that route for a couple more weeks.
11/01 - 141.5 So my husband finally made tenure yesterday and got a really nice raise. We knew he was being re-evaluated, but it was way better than we could have imagined. Plus he got a really nice bonus and we can finally pay some bills off that we have putting off. Having 2 kids in college and another one starting next year is sometimes hard on the wallet, lol. That being said we celebrated last night with a couple of drinks and Chinese food. He wanted to go out, but I made it at home instead. The chicken egg rolls (I only had 1) went into the air fryer, the fried rice was made with low sodium soy sauce (husband could not even tell the difference), and baked some chicken to go with it. I only had 4 oz of Crown and nothing else. I was really good! I don't think I deserve this uptick, but maybe even using the low sodium soy sauce it was more than I should have had. We will see tomorrow. It was a celebration and don't regret the 1 pound at all. TGIF!!!!
11/02 - 139.7 yes, yes, yes!!!! Finally and it’s real, but now here comes the weekend. I always gain during the weekend no matter what. Maybe this will be my motivation to be really good.
11/03 - 140.7 Did some projects around the house all day yesterday and took 3 of the kids for flu shots. Ate under calories, but did have a couple of beers with my hubby while putting together my new hall tree. It came in about 400 pieces, lol and my husband was not happy. It looks amazing though and I love it.
11/04 - 141.5 cleaned house all day Sunday and did about 8 loads of laundry over the weekend. Made banana bread, chocolate banana bread, (did not have any) and burritos for the week for everyone. I only had my 2 meals and both were on track. We had aged steak for dinner and brussel sprouts. I did not have any potatoes, mac and cheese, or bread, but I did have a couple of beers watching the night games with the hubby. I have got to get back to no alcohol. I am so good for a while and then I just start sliding again and of course the Cowboys are playing tonight. I'm not going to lie, being a Cowboys fan causes you to drink sometimes, lol. Oh well, I am doing my best.
11/05 - 139.7 Well, I can say I am pretty consistent this round for sure. Cowboys won and I am sure I am a little dehydrated from the beer, but ate way under calories. So it should even out. Back on no alcohol as of tonight. Would love to see the same pattern to finish out the next 3 days of this round.
11/06 - 140.7 This is the result of the beer from Monday night. I always have an uptick when I over drink 2 days later. Definitely well deserved and will hopefully be back down tomorrow. I have done really well this week, way better than I thought I would. I knew this week was going to be a rough one for me with so much going on. We are having my husband's bday tonight with all the kids at home. Fajitas and pineapple upside down cake are on the menu. I am making extra veggies and will put mine on lettuce instead of tortillas and not have any cake. I should be able to stay on track. Tomorrow is his actual bday and he of course wants to go to is favorite pizza place with some friends and have a couple of beers. So tomorrow will be my true test, which I have been planning for.

** ROUND 94 **
Round # 23 for me
The next ten days: I am going to focus on doing more intentional exercise (step goal 6500) and be more mindful of when I eat. Make sure I not doing as much emotional eating.
Day/Weight/Comment
10/30 397.0 – I lost 1.6 pounds last round. Finally getting back on track. I am not making any goals, but I do know in 10 days I should lose at least 2 pounds just by focusing on behavior modifications. I didn’t do the whole 10 days last round. But I am not beating myself up at all. I am just going to focus on my behaviors which will get me where I want to be.
10/31 395.6 (-1.4) – Yesterday: 7434 steps, 30 min walking. Did OK eating - no binge or fast foods. We will see how the eating goes today. I did not do the potluck with the department. But I still ate some candy and I brought some Chicago Mix popcorn for me. But I only had a few cups for lunch. No binge thus far. Night is the worse. Tomorrow I go to a special lunch, planning on eating mindfully there. Having grilled chicken since I know they are going to have it and he some veggies. I go to WW on Saturday. Trying to break even - but if I don’t, I am not going to worry about it because I have not been to a meeting in weeks. I am still up 3 pounds from the last time I was there on my scale.
11/01 396.8 (+1.2)
11/02 397.8 (+1.0)
11/03 NWI
11/04 397.2 (-0.6) - Gained over weekend. Sorta back on track today. Surprised by weight loss yesterday. Not sure on that one. I did not reach step goal last 3 days. Super busy though. I don’t think I will get step goal today either. I see my therapist tomorrow. I am down since the last time I saw her. Tomorrow I will know how much. She did not care how much, if I am losing. I got into a big argument with my boss Friday which started weekend off wrong. She was off today. We will see how she is acting tomorrow and if I will be written up or something because she was in a mood Friday and she is power tripping. She did not even say bye to anyone Friday. So she was hot but I know it was just not me. Something else happen and my argument was icing on the cake. Oh well. It is what it is. I don’t want to, but in March of next year, I must think seriously about looking for another job because I can see this is not working. It is not good for me or her. It has been a little over a year since my previous boss retired. Our personalities are not clashing at all.
11/05 397.0 (-0.2) – 4669 steps. Not even close to my 6500-step goal. Eating not the greatest. My boss came in to work today. Was normal like nothing happened Friday. Interesting. We have a P&R on Thursday. Let’s see if she cancels it.
11/06 398.2 (+1.2) 6650 steps yesterday. Overate yesterday. Mini binge or grazing. Back on track today. Some emotional eating involved. Great visit with therapist! I have one more day to see if I can get out of the red zone here this round.

My journey … ("I May Not Be Where I Want To Be, but I’m Not Where I Use To Be!")In 2003 Weighed over 600 lbsMy highest weight was 611 in 2003. Weight in 2004 before weight loss surgery was 580. Lowest weight after surgery was 302 in 2007. "I May Not Be Where I Want To Be, but I’m Not Where I Use To Be!"
In 2005 Weighed under 400 lbs
In 2007 lowest weight after surgery 302lbs
I joined MFP on March 27, 2010 weighing in at 388 pounds. I was re-gaining weight and stumbled up on it while trying to get back on track. I was determined never to see 400+ on that scale again for me.
I have been morbidly obese all my life. I have a lifetime of mental and physical scars from obesity. In October 2004 I had Gastric Bypass surgery. WLS (Weight Loss Surgery) was the best gift that I could and did give to myself.
Between 2008 and 2010 I gradually gained back 80 of almost 300 pounds lost initially after weight loss surgery. I never reached my goal weight of 200 pounds. I still managed to keep off over 65 percent of the weight I lost which is very good and I am very proud of my accomplishments since 2004. It has literally changed my life for the better on all levels. I am here to lose re-gained weight and to reach my initial goal weight. I am in no hurry. I am taking this one day at a time and I am in it for the long haul.
Surgery did not fix the head. It is a good tool and the best gift I have given to myself, but it was not the easy way out as many people think. Once the honeymoon period is over after the WLS it is up to the patient to keep the weight off.
On August 29, 2011-- I was admitted to Intensive Out Patient Eating Disorder Program to learn how to manage my binge eating disorder effectively. The program is wonderful indeed and will be instrumental in me reaching all of my goals. The focus of this program was how to eat and not diet. Weight loss was not a goal of the program. I actually gained 20 pounds in program. But I had to get thru a lot of stuff and my the time I was released I had stopped gaining. I was discharged from program on December 3, 2011.
My tool is still working for me today. My head is still the issue. SO the struggle continues. I will never beat myself up again. I fight the fine fight faithfully and positively everyday. Because that is what will get me to my goals one day. Even though it may not show up on the scale every day -- Everyday I make progress one way or another just by showing up, waking up and trying.
Giving up is not an option for me. Perseverance, Patience, & Positive thinking will help me reach my goals…… and the same is true for you too!! We have the power within us.:flowerforyou: Jan 3, 2019 SW 373.4 CW 400.4 :flowerforyou:Round 64 - SW 373.4 EW 369 (-4.4)

11/01 - 68.7kg
11/02 - 68.9kg - on another scale as well so very pleased!
11/03 - 70kg - Not surprised and expected it! Spent all of today grazing - healthy stuff but too much and spent 4 hours at a gig, drinking and dancing. Should remedy itself by today!
11/04 - 70.55kg! Oh no! Still in remedying
11/05 - 69.9kg more like it. Let's see
11/06 - 69.9kg
11/07 - 68.5kg - yay back to my last week's weight!

My goal is to remain consistent with my calories and under my daily target. I'll do this by eating high protein meals and lots of vegetables which keep me full, and snacking on apples if I want something in the evening. In the last round, I managed to do this 7 out of the 10 days and in this round I want to do better.
Round 93: SW 71.9kg EW 70.7kg (-1.2 kg / -2.6 lbs)
10/30 70.7kg - under calorie target; exercised
10/31 70.7kg - under calorie target
11/01 70.4kg - under calorie target; exercised
11/02 70.3kg - 750 calories over target; exercised
11/03 71.1kg - under calorie target; exercised
11/04 70.7kg - under calorie target; exercised
11/05 70.2kg - 100 calories over target; exercised
11/06 69.9kg - under calorie target; exercised
11/07 69.4kg - I was going to have a rest day today but I really wanted to go to a yoga class this morning so I did. I can see my body changing so the progress is not just on the scales.

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

Hi. My name is Trina.
I'm till trying to get down to 128, before officially starting to maintain, but mostly want to stay under 130. I'm happy that my weight is staying level even with adding in the occasional carbs. I love this challenge to keep me on track and keep me grounded in reality! My other goal this 10 days is to regain some arm mobility after my mastectomy.

Day/Weight/Comment
10/30 129.5 Same as yesterday minus 10 inches of hair...which apparently only weighed 3 oz.
10/31 129.5 -- It finally stopped raining enough to take a late walk yesterday. Today I think I'll need to exercise inside!
11/01 129.5
11/02 ??? Forgot to weigh....I never forget! LOL
11/03 130 Temporary up....Had a beer late and some snacks. And not much in the way of movement yesterday.
11/04 131 Not what I wanted....but temporary! Today I FINALLY got to drive again post surgery. I took advantage of the car to go to the gym and do a strength workout and zumba. Funniest thing....the one thing I couldn't do in zumba was spread and raise my arms and take a deep breath in for warmup and cool down!! That's not supposed to be hard for anyone!
11/05 130 Walked 8 miles today. 3 fast, 5 with friends!
11/06 130 Walked another 8 miles today, 3 before going to meet with the oncology nurse. Kind of bummed to realize hair loss is pretty much guaranteed, although it's somewhat of a relief to know rather than worry about it. Called a friend on the way home and met her for another 5 mile walk. Ate a few fewer leftover Halloween snacks today.
