@MissMay
Surely you could accept a drink when offered and the local bartenders know to make your special AF drink for you in a fancy glass with a garnish?2 -

Hope everyone is having a nice Friday.
Welcome @sammidelvecchio. We all have different goals, strategies and stories in here. Glad to have you joining in. Take it one day at a time.5 -
Some very good thoughts in response to my wee little rant yesterday. No not a boss, just some people we chat with when out. And I have gotten my special beverage request a few times, this was a tray of spilling tequila shots that was staggering towards us. Thinking DH wants me to accept so he can have the shot I would have turned down.
Ok end of that subject for me. 😊4 -
6:58 am in Vegas another 24, yesterday was another toughie and I'm wondering what the kitten is going on 🤔 lingering effects of the full moon? TOM? Meh,best to just urge surf and not analyze it to death I guess, hey thank you all for being here and being such a good support 💖4

Had half a glass of wine after a long tough meeting. I didn’t feel the effects because my nice big late dinner counteracted it. Still, saw my hubby with wine, and I really wanted some. What can I say? Disappointed that I gave in.
Half a glass, not half a bottle is how you have to look at it! You did amazing.6 -
6:49 am in Vegas another 24 💖 I was the biggest pusher of booze when I was drinking heavily,I was a kitten pest! I just figured people wouldn't have as good of a time if they weren't drinking with the rest of us,sheesh what a creep I was6

Thanks MissMay1 Y'all are so kind and supportive here. The weekends are the hardest for me to pull off, but skipping alcohol for just one more day seems totally doable at this point.5 -

Oh that kind of changes things because then it's just more about a free drink for him and not about him not respecting your wishes. I could see my husband doing this too...2 -
I had 7.5 ounces of wine last night and I didn't even want anymore. Then I went to bed and slept like a baby.6

Being a wine snob saves the day again! At a local music venue where they served everything in plastic cups, and I just couldn’t do it. I had planned for one glass of wine, but the plastic glass killed it. I’m not a beer drinker, so I figured I may as well have club soda instead of a mixed drink that I really wasn’t into having anyway. Had a great time stone cold sober! It was awesome!10

Good Sunday morning.
Last night I checked out a new place that opened for food this past week. It was gorgeous inside. Very tastefully decorated that gave a sense of comfort and an elegant surrounding . The food was well prepared and delicious. Here is what I kept obsessing with....the cut glasses that were being filled and served to everyone. They were absolutely beautiful.
I had already chose to drink coffee with dinner, but my mind started to drift as I imagined myself holding one of those lovely cut wine glassses filled with something else.
SNAP OUTTA IT, I thought loudly inside my head.
Next time we go though I AM ordering my iced tea-ginger ale combo, straight up with an orange twist in one of those beauties,.
Another AF night

That’s a great plan! All the benefits of the “feel” of a nice glass of wine, without the alcohol!
BTW that restaurant sounds amazing!5 -

Yesterday was day 7 of being AF, so I met my mini-goal of the month. I was plotting and planning when I was going to have my 3 glasses of wine today, then it occurred to me that if I drink today, I won't have any days out of the 5 I have allocated for the month left. I need one for Day-After-Thanksgiving Christmas tree trimming. So I'm going to skip drinking until my planned wine tasting on the 23rd. So it will have to be another six days of being AF. Hope I can make it! Hubs asked yesterday what wine he should bring out for my drinking day today, so I'm going to have to tell him I'm skipping it.8
-
My goal is 16-20 AF days for the month.
I didn't get there in October, ended up with 10 or 11AF days. Daily drinking is so very easy to slip back into!
November 15 - AF
November 16 - A bunch of red wine (not my drink of choice) at a girlfriend's who invited me for Lasagna. Although I had one glass or two glasses each night in Dallas, it made me feel lovely. Did not feel lovely, thought that I was going to puke, did not feel well in the morning.
Running tally 9AF days out of 15 days so far.4 -

You painted such a great picture there of the scenario! He wanted you to accept it, put it in front of you and he would drink yours. All we can do is try to find some humour.

12/17 days AF. Don’t know why it’s easier this month than last. This is some kind of record for me!8

Good morning, everyone. I hope everyone did their best in sticking to whatever goals you had this weekend. I was trying to make it to Thursday with no alcohol. I did well until last night, then I had two glasses of wine. The Sunday scaries got to me.
Still going to aim for the remainder of the week AF.
Happy Monday9 -

So instead of drinking last night, I decided to do something productive and log and store all the wine purchases and club pickups that we've been accumulating over the past several months into our wine storage. Was left with this mountain of boxes and bags, shown here in front of our wine storage.
During this exercise, it occurred to me that part of the reason I have a problem is because I never saw drinking wine as a problem until now. Hubs and I are foodies (and obviously, very into wine) and wine is even touted as healthy to drink (in moderation). I've decided that going forward that when I do drink, it's going to be the good stuff, preferably had with a fabulous home-cooked meal, and I am going to savor every drop I drink to give it the respect that it deserves.

Did you have a turning point? Mine was Saturday. Walking through the parking lot from one hotel to another, dragging my bowling bag along... after a long day of bowling and TQ shots... everything was going fine, until I decided to bend over to tie my shoe. I toppled over due to my drinking I was not stable. Lucky for me my glasses broke my fall... creating a large gash in my nose, bleeding wouldn't stop, not sure yet is my nose is broken, someone called the paramedics. I was so embarrassed! Glasses scratched up, the cut, and I look like I was punched in the face, can't hide the bruising around my eyes or the band-aid across my nose... could have been worse... I get the feeling that this was God's hand, giving me a little push down to the asphalt, a warning shot. I am getting my act together. I will definitely not be drinking for a while, if ever... I am not good a moderation.
Thank you for listening.14 -
Feeling a bit overwhelmed with work stuff. Overate instead of drinking. Wish I could stick to my eating stuff too. Going to try to head to bed a little early.

@yamabachi I agree with you! I’m getting much more picky about what wine I’m drinking. We also get cases of wine delivered, and because I’ve cut back, the boxes are stacking up! Sadly, no wine storage as gorgeous as yours!
@looneycatblue so sorry to hear about your fall, but I think you absolutely have the right attitude about it being a blessing in disguise. Good for you for recognizing your low point. God may have tipped you over for a reason, but He’ll definitely pull you back up!4
