5 Pounds in 5 Weeks: Over the Holidays

Greetings friends,
Today I am starting a "5 Pounds in 5 Weeks: Over the Holidays" Challenge. The way I see it is that I could easily put ON 5 pounds over the holidays (both Thanksgiving and Christmas), and the sometimes erratic eating schedule that comes with them. But if we don't put on 5 pounds, but instead lose 5 pounds, that's an effective 10-pound difference in what we could have been.
So as I examine the next 5 weeks, through December, I am asking myself if I want to be five pounds heavier or 5 pounds lighter at the end of December.
How about you? Will you join in, starting today, November 24, 2019, for the challenge? We all need some extra motivation over the holidays, maybe this is exactly what we need.
My commitment is to weigh daily and record all food and exercise, even on the holidays when I know things will be crazy busy with friends and family coming over. The only time I cannot weigh in is when I will be traveling to China (a few days in December).
Let's see if this holiday season things will be different than previous holiday seasons, where we all end up needing to make a "New Year's Resolution" to lose the weight we put on over the holidays. I believe things can be different!

Exactly! The difference between your 191.6 and the higher end of your "plus 5" is nearly 10 pounds, which is a significant difference.
I'm confident that with planning, forethought, encouragement from each other that we can have this holiday season be different than previous ones.2 -
I lose slowly. I pretty sure my body would not relinquish that much weight, but I would like to lose during the holidays. Count me in:

I'm happy that I was up .08 pounds on the very first day for several reasons: It's important to see that weight fluctuates on a daily basis, so we're after trends not one day's change. Also, an "up" day on the scale does not derail us; anybody who reaches their goal has numerous "up" days along the way. All is well.

Just popping in for a short word of encouragement to all of us.
Weight gain is instantaneous: we overeat, we make poor choices, fat is added to our bodies immediately and it shows up on the scale the next weigh-in.
Weight loss is slower as our bodies burn off the excess. To use another metaphor, weight loss is like planting seeds, we don't see the result immediately, but over time we can reap a harvest.
Let's plant good seeds today in the form of eating well, keeping within our target range and even exercising some if possible.
Let's not be weary in eating well, for we will reap a good harvest by the end of December.6 -
Just redownloaded MFP because I have a goal to lose about 3-5kg now. Will do weigh in tmrw!

I did the other challenge for 2 pounds a week for two weeks, I didnt quite make it, but this time I am hopeful. I am not too concerned about actually reaching my goal of 175 as even if its slow, weight loss is weight loss. I would really be happy under 180 again. Looking forward to this, the daily weigh ins really motivate me!

Congratulations @SammyDee2015, moving in the right direction! One of the things I try to do is to speak the results I want. So if I'm down a couple of pounds, I'm saying "yes, that's the direction I'm on, and this will continue. I won't be surprised if I'm down another pound in a week." I'm speaking the truth and living what I'm speaking, and you'll be surprised at the results of this, which show the value of talking to ourselves rather than listening to ourselves .1

Goal weight: 170.0
November 25: 176.2.
