      I grew up in the LA area (South Bay). This does not bother me, because my value and worth as a person do not depend on how I look :smile:

      Also. There are PLENTY of normal people in the area. You just have to get away from the tourist traps. I highly recommend Redondo, Manhattan & Hermosa. You'll find friends there

      I lived in Hermosa on the strand at 15th (just north of the pier)

      .... and later in the tree section of Manhattan Beach.

      The Lighthouse in Hermosa should be on a national register of historical places.

      I am from LA and there is a huge emphasis on looks. When I travel anywhere else, I get tons of attention and compliments but there I don’t get noticed much. A lot of guys like fake body parts too, more so than other places.

      I used to live in that area, so no. I am nowhere near a "10" (whatever that is). I am extremely average looking and originate from the Midwest, so I knew then that I stuck out (kinda pale, not thin, etc), BUT... you live there long enough and you'll realize that there aren't a bunch of "10's" running around and no one else. There are a varied multitude of people in LA and most of them are just regular people doing regular people things. Not everyone in LA dresses like they're going to a premier or looks like they just rolled out of a botox clinic.

      Most are just regular people. It's a city like any other city, just happens to have Hollywood nearby.

      If you’re talking the beauty standards from the rich people from LA, the Kim Ks ect..

      I can never feel that way towards people like that, who have had surgery, fillers etc. I don’t feel less then if anything I have a bit of a superiority complex.

      I feel like everyone in LA is trying to look exotic, on the Hispanic, middle eastern, mixed with something side- Kylie Jenner for example.

      There are a lot of Latinos, middle easterners, and multi racial people. How does one *try* to look exotic?

      Yes there are a lot of multi racial ppl in LA. Im sayingthe beauty standard from what I’ve experienced and seen in certain parts of LA- there is particular group of people ( I have an example- Kylie Jenner who are trying to look anything but themselves.

      I never felt ugly anywhere, but I also don't physically compare myself to others whenever I enter a room.

      But, I have felt rather poor when living in SoCal (L.A. & San Diego) & other places for that matter. But, then it's my issue, cuz I'm comparing my fiances to others.

      When you live here, it is hard to move because you get used to the weather. I can’t tolerate anything colder than 70 for more than short periods.

      Can confirm. Used to live in that area and now live somewhere else that while, is usually 70 degrees or warmer, is still kinda cold in the winter and I'm freezing.

      It's currently 70 degrees in my home (with the heater), and I'm still cold! I live in hoodies and jackets indoors now. :lol:
