So we had company this weekend and I ate a piece of pie and drank a mnt dew....good news I didn't gain any weight, bad news I didn't lose any either. Aaaaand I am hungry....but psychologically. 😵9

My initial goal is just to log ALL my food! I'm pretty good at logging meals but not so good at logging "picks" ... those little grab and go moments! I've set my goals to not lose weight so that I'm not bothered by calories left etc. I'll get to that later!
So that's it to start with, establish the habit.

Water is still a struggle averaging around 64oz/day
Food has been awesome but I need to do better on tracking my snacks.
I do believe my strenuous exercise is causing water weight so working on that too!

Here's my weekly check-in:
I did really well this first week "back on track", but in all honesty, the first week is usually easy for me because mentally I'm ready. It's once we get a couple weeks in and I lose my motivation. So, I'm hoping I keep going. Disclaimer on my weightloss: It looks like I lost a large amount of weight this week, more than I have ever lost in a week. But when I weighed in last Monday, I thought I was weighing high due to having Chinese food on Sunday. I'm sure this week will be much less and more normal!
SW(1/6/20): 260.4

Jan. GW: 250
Ultimate Goal: 150
I also met my goal of exercising 3x last week for an hour each time. I have a very busy week this week as my son has 3 basketball games and I have to work both my full & part time jobs this week, so I'm hoping I can get in 3x for at least 30 minutes...some is better than none!

I've lost and gained weight over the past 5 years, seem to add on more pounds each time and now I'm wanting to get rid of it for good. Started on Jan 2.

Onederland is such an excellent word lol I have dipped above and below this for the past few years but only recently gained the 20lbs that's brought me to my heaviest weight now. I want to actually enjoy exercise as I know this will be key to me getting fitter and helping with the weight loss.
I used to do 30 say shred and I have done a few kettlebell workouts in the past week so hoping to keep that up since I'm new to weights.
Im blown away by the success many you have had so far, it's really motivating to see others doing well!

@torihudson6 - I don't believe in what we like to call "willpower" or "self-control". It's more about shaping your environment so you have the best chance at being successful. I mentioned the book "Change Anything", this 7 minute video clip from the folks who wrote that book demonstrates why willpower is over-rated. I found it adorable, heartbreaking and insightful.

@AmethystEFC, @Jenfromtheblock84, and @vegasgirl0825 - congratulations on having great weeks! @vegasgirl0825 , I'm guessing you meant to say you were at 251.1, not 151.1. A remarkable loss regardless. It's amazing what salty food can do to our bodies when we aren't used to it.4

@momx4hill - I find I am hungrier when I eat sugary foods, even when I've clearly had enough calories. Sometimes balancing the sugar with a bit of protein tricks my brain into feeling satiated. Maybe that's why some folks like to eat their apple pie with cheddar. Or have milk with their cookies.5

The discussion on the thread is interesting, too. For me it sounded like "broscience" at first, but I believe it's because the people posting were trying to summarize what was related to them by a professional - who, in turn, had probably already put the explanation in layman's terms to make it comprehensible to the person who was posting. Prior to finally deciding to go to nursing school, I studied a lot of cell and molecular biology, so I wouldn't have needed the simpler explanation, and the article @speyerj linked to above did explain things in more technical terms.

Wow...2020!
I'm not sure if it's the fact that I will be 20 years out of high school this year or just the fact that I'm sick of being on the back burner priority wise but I've decided to focus on me this year. Being a mother of two and wife (wife can be harder) but I've realized that my well being has been demoted the teens on my priority list. It's time to change that. I'm ready to feel more energized, beautiful and sexy!

CW: Same-just started
Goal: 200 -I'll reevaluate then. But I have always enjoyed my curves so that may be where I stop.
January Goal: To stick with it until the end of the month. They say you can make or break a habit if you stick with it for 21 days.
I'd love to have some friends to share the journey with!

I'm finally getting back into the swing of things after a rough couple of years. I maintained my current (heaviest) weight for the last year. I'm ready to start losing now. I plan to record my weight every Friday.
Jan 2020 SW: 242.5 lb.
CW: 242 lb. (01/10)
Dec 2020 GW: 210 lb.
My goal for January is to set my calorie goal for 0.5 lb a week and stick to it every day. I'm also trying to drink less pop. I'll increase my goal to 1 lb. a week next month, once I get used to counting calories again.9 -
Saturday is a friend's birthday party. He is quite well off so the alcohol and charcuterie will be flowing freely. I do love him and his wife, but they are on a whole separate level of society. Their friends are all in politics and activism and they travel and read thoughtful literature and are the most stereotypical High Society.
I'm poor, work a crappy desk job in baggy jeans, and mostly read trashy romance. The trashier the better. I am so there for the cruel sheik's servant bride or literally anyone's secret baby.
So you see, I have nothing to say to these people. I feel like a child amidst adults. When I'm nervous I eat, just so I can be doing something.
I don't foresee my calories on Saturday surviving. -_-11 -
@Terytha I think that being aware of the situation is a good thing! You know what triggers you. A couple thoughts...maybe eat something before you go so you aren't as hungry and maybe won't eat as much because you'll just feel blah...another idea, could you ask if you can bring a friend/date, someone with so that you'll have someone there you can relate to so that you're more comfortable...thirdly, maybe instead of eating play a game in your head making up those trashy romance stories about the people at the party! lol
I'd definitely feel the same way as you in that situation, so I have no idea if my ideas are helpful or not, but thought I'd throw them out there!5 -

My husband will be there with me but he's an extroverted bureaucrat so he, without even noticing, usually ditches me for more interesting company. XD
It's fine, I don't need a babysitter and I want him to have fun. I will make an effort to nibble fruit instead of cheese and nurse one drink. I can play-act social butterfly but when I'm nervous I just sound like airheaded arm candy. I swear I'm actually fairly smart. =P6 -

I felt like poo most of the weekend and I am still not 100%. I ate decent but not fabulous over the weekend so today I have been very aware of what I'm feeding myself. I don't want to lose my momentum and head back up on the scale! I'm definitely going to.reach my goal of 4750 steps today with how many times I have already had to go up and down the stairs chafing Wilbur because he up and decided he wants to go outside every 5 minutes today! The stinker!7

One month into this journey and I can’t help but worry that I am too focused on future me, and not so much present me. How do you balance working towards a goal, while loving yourself in the here and now? Trying to live in the moment, while constantly thinking about the next weigh is my biggest struggle right now.
Working on forgiving myself for letting my health by the wayside for so long, and loving myself for doing the work to get back on track!

@vegasgirl0825 - you can edit your posts within 1 hour of posting them. I'm not sure if you can edit on the phone app but you can on the web application. After posting (and refreshing your screen), go back to your post and you should see a little cog wheel in the upper right hand corner. Click on that to edit, then you can save your post. After an hour, the edit feature goes away.3

Scroll down through the comments because the original posted follows up on the part about the goal is to be happy now. He comes back and write, so eloquently:
"It is also about forgiving yourself for gaining weight in the first place. This may not apply to everyone but I certainly tried to punish myself in previous attempts to lose weight. It is hard to try and be kind to myself and happy today while holding a grudge against myself. I had to let it go."
The shame I felt for losing and then regaining 100 pounds was pretty intense and it stopped me from getting back on the wagon. I'm glad that I figured out if I was going to be successful in this journey, I had to kick shame out of my path or I was going to trip over it.8 -

Wow I go away for 2 days and it is crazy in here 😂 this is awesome!! Ok so here’s my weekly weigh in:
Last week: 200
This week: 198.4
Lost 1.6 lbs in 1 week
Not my personal best but still really good
I have not eaten any of the cookies my husband made. The will power has been fierce with this one! I did find a keto recipe and made those cookies. 🤢🤮 They were nasty.
I love how I’m back in ONEDERLAND 🎉🎊
Besides just feeling down emotionally, I have been feeling physically down all of a sudden and I think it’s partially due to my eating. I follow my doctor’s nutrition plan at the bariatric clinic but I don’t think overall I’m eating enough so I’m going to try to get in a few more calories. I know it’ll slow progress but the right kind of calories will be a good energy source and hopefully help pick me up a little.
Idk if my diary is visible or not but I generally get between 500-800 calories a day (remember I had bariatric surgery, this is not abnormal for people like me) with most days being closer to 500...
Last but not least I got MFP’s 8 year badge 🤣 wow! I had no idea I’ve been around this website that long!

@flimflam87 I have the same trouble sometimes, living in the now, being happy now. I think thats also part of the lifestyle change, changing our mentality. Thanks @speyerj for that link, that was very helpful and inspiring.
Today was my first day back at work after 3 weeks off. I’m happy to have routine and purpose again. I planned my meals out and have been good about logging and measuring everything. Mentally feel good, no major cravings. I made a 3X gym goal for this week, I plan on going tomorrow after work and then 2 other times. Looking forward to report back on that. Hope you all have a good evening6 -
