What is your "Petty" Reason to Lose Weight?

I am an alcoholic and have been sober for 4 months now and am going to stay that way. I don't want to be that person any more. Sobriety is no problem when i think about the calories in booze and what it would do to my progress. Its petty but its my petty.49

Congrats my sober sister! I have 37 years sober this year and invite you to join me on this journey.
We don't NEED booze, but we do need food. It's putting the correct emphasis on it.17 -

Totally awesome, but I respectfully disagree. Not petty at all. Inspiring!17 -
About six-seven years ago (when I was active and a healthy weight) a passing man in the street said I was beautiful during a warm down walk after a run (so I was a sweaty mess mostly). Now I'm over 30, have kids and am overweight and there are men in the office who actively treat me like I'm not there, no eyecontact, hello, if I say anything it gets ignored. While I don't want to buy into the rudeness/ sexism/ageism or be pestered, I also do not want to spend the next 30 years of my working life being treated like a piece of furniture to be walked around.25

NOT PETTY AT ALL! 9 months sober myself..one of the best things I ever did!14 -
I just came to terms with the fact that I’m just really friggin sad right now. Finally losing the last 30 pounds may not be a happy pill but it’ll be a step in the right direction.43

I keep trying to hide and not be noticed. I want my smile, the bounce and the confidence back.
Oh and an ex once said that he “didn’t love my curves as much as he ought to”. He was a douche bag that I have nothing to do with any more but I want to feel hot, curvy and sexy again!17 -
I have lost significant weight before. When I did, my “best friend” was so jealous. She constantly told me she wished I would put the weight back on, because, “Then we could lose weight together!” Well, I did put the weight back on as I encountered some major health issues. Guess who wasn’t interested in teaming up with me to take it back off again!
Recently, this same person disagreed with me on something I posted online (that had nothing to do with her, it was just me), and she said she was “embarrassed” of me and couldn’t remain my friend. Clearly she never was my friend anyway.
So one of my petty reasons (there are many) is to lose all the weight I lost before and then some, and live my best life, without her there to drag me down. If I run into her at the store or something and her jaw drops, all the better!26 -
So that the girl who broke my heart will one day come to regret the decision.
It’s petty, but every time I think I can’t manage another minute running on the treadmill, that’s the motivation to keep going.
Hopefully I won’t see her for a few months so I can keep the motivation going!26 -
My petty reason is someone at work acted like keto was a top secret plan that only they could do. She has lost a lot of weight and I was really happy for her and told her she looked really good. Asked her what she was doing and yes she told me. You know how some people come together and be like, "Girl go here. Do this. Do that. Here's this recipe. Let me know how it's working for you!" That is what I do. It all just became hush! So I started low carb. Because grul this is not just about you. Besides I have the support of MFP. So I don't need yours. Down 25 pounds. I am also doing it for me too.15

I'm constantly hiding behind the baggy sweaters / hoodies because I don't want anyone to see the weight that I gained back. I have felt like a failure and haven't been able to really commit to losing the weight again. I want ME back. The girl that would laugh, smile and have fun - the one that wasn't worried about what she looked like.17

Yep. This.14 -
Oh, I don't know, how much time do you have?
I don't know if anyone else goes through this but seeing myself in photos is sometimes a rude shock - I think I'm pretty down to earth and realistic, but it's a shard through the heart when you look far worse in a photo than you think you do. Looking good - not gorgeous, not fabulous but having my outside match my inside, so I keep all those photos that I take with my kids and not delete. That's my #1 petty reason.
Petty Reason #2: I want to walk into any store, see something cute and be able to at least try it on without feeling ridiculous. My goal is not a size 0 - I just want to be in single digits. That's it.
Petty Reason #3: I'm going to be seeing people from high school that I haven't seen in 20+ odd years. I want to look like a sophisticated, stylish, attractive version of myself - that je ne sais quoi that comes with confidence and experience is easier to embody when you feel great in your body! Also, I want nothing from the boys I knew back when (happily married thanks) but it'd still be nice to have them wonder "back then, what if....?" And the mean girls I knew back when. Well...
Petty Reason #4: My husband has always been the fit/thin one in our relationship. He has always maintained that he didn't marry me for my looks but for who I am as a person (oh, yes. That was meant as a compliment and it was years ago but it still stings, that one). I want to be the hot one in the relationship and have him eat his words.21 -
1. Being able to shop without going to the plus size section or the back of the rack for the bigger sizes.
2. Owning one Lululemon clothing item that fits well.13 -
My "petty" reason is to be able to fit in a restaurant booth without "squeezing in". Really my only disgusted moment...LOL13

I would have to say I have a few lol. One is yes to turn heads. I’m a happily married woman but it still feels good to know you’re attractive. Let’s face it, people treat over weight people different. Another reason is my husbands evil ex wife just lost a lot of weight (cause she did the lap band) and so I want to look better then her at events down the road we may be at for the kids. I hope I don’t sound like a bad person but it felt good to say it lol.

I have a wedding in June where my ex's bestfriend will be at and I want him to see those pictures and think "what if?". He's married now with kids so there's no chance of anything happening but just knowing how good I look would be enough
Also I'm legit single and living in a new country so it's time to meet someone13 -
Fitting my gut and butt into jeans again, i love leggings bc theyre comfy but THEY NEVER HAVE POCKETS 😢15

To show this louse I live with what a swan he’s been overlooking all this time with his neglect. I want that perfect heart shaped *kitten* of mine to be the last thing he sees as I walk out that door for the last time.25

I want to reclaim my life after the ptsd of a traumatic birth experience, and fit into my old clothes!!19
-
* To feel better about myself after an extremely traumatic experience.
* To stick it to my mother who, during the December holidays, told me "I remember how you used to diet to look pretty and thin when you were 16, I don't know what happened (for you to look like this at 40)." My mother has been on one crash diet or another since I was a small child, but has never been particularly thin or in shape. She used to shove diet mixtures down my throat when I was a child, since the age of around 11 and when I didn't need it. I was a thin child! She has always treated me like I was in competition with her, bringing me either oversized clothing in what she assumed to be my size or passing down clothes that were "too big for her" that she knew wouldn't fit me. She was absolutely delighted when I gained so much weight as an adult.
* To stick it to the supposed 'friend' who turned on me and started posting passive aggresive crap about my appearance on FB.23 -

That's the worst thing. Sorry you had to deal with that!3 -
I moved to Florida and I want to look pretty in sundresses and feel better in a swim suit.16

I want to be hit on again or given the 'eye'. It is not very likely as I turn 50 this year. I know many people find it offensive however I see it as a compliment.17

You're so funny!!! Just keep enjoying the benefits of marriage!!!3 -
Looking good in a bikini, or really whatever I want to wear. Not having to “dress for my body type”7
-
To not feel like an out of shape old man when i take my daughter swimming in the summer. To make the women turn their heads when i walk into a room. To be an example to my daughter.10
