So yesterday we had a funeral and I was over the dinner. I was on my feet all day preparing and serving food. When I finally got to eat I went a little crazy. This morning my scale was mean to me 😭 but back on track today, going to take a walk after I drop the kids off at school. And drink extra water!!

Good morning everyone! Today is weigh in day! I woke up with my wedding band feeling tight so I wasn't expecting to see the scale move. Much to my surprise it did!! I try not to let a number on a scale dictate my mood but it really does. I am hoping you all have a great day.

This week has been stressful and crazy so I haven't gotten in as much exercise as I would have like to but I did make sure to log everything and get my water in. My challenge this week to get more activity in as I know I feel better when I do. Honestly I read through these posts as it inspires me to get up and do something, just move!!! Thanks for that!!15 -
@Rebeckah11 Welcome! You have great goals and have come to a great place for motivation and support!! I have no doubt you'll reach your October goal before your trip to Paris! How exciting!
@theleadmare Way to go on your losses so far! I hope that your muscle spasm has eased up! Sometimes warm therapy will help get blood moving and help relax the muscles.
@momx4hill Sorry for your loss. One day of "going a little crazy on food" wont completely sabotage you! Your game plan sounds perfect. A walk, plenty of water and getting right back at it! This journey will be bumpy but we will get to our goals!3 -
@Candyn617 congrats on passing 75 lbs lost! So inspiring!!
@speyerj I love the shoes! What a perfect reward.
@shorepine I'm sorry you are missing your mom. Sending you hugs.
@mmccloy12 great job on the exercise! It doesn't matter when you go as long as you go!
Welcome to everyone new! So glad you found this thread. It is so inspiring to come here every day.6 -

Thank you all so much for posting on this thread. I love checking in here every day and seeing your posts, whether a struggle or a triumph. It is really motivating. For all those new, feel free to add me as a friend!9 -
When I started in April of last year I had to lose half my body weight (144 lbs 😔) to be considered healthy. (BMI scale). I beat myself up for so long for letting myself get to this point. It seemed like an impossible feat. Tomorrow is weigh in but I am half way there. Each day, each meal, each exercise, I am that much closer. So now that I have rambled on. I hope you all have a wonderful evening or morning, depending on where you are! 💞
I also started April last year with around half of myself to lose. If you were to read my first post on the boards here, it was just oozing hopelessness. I did not believe I would ever get anywhere. Now I'm a hair away from Onederland.
I feel like I owe at least part of my success to the knowledgeable, supportive and kind people who come here all the time.9 -
@speyerj, those are so cute! Also, so proud of you for reaching that goal. I can’t wait to get there.
@Rebeckah11, welcome! Those sounds like great, reasonable goals.
@theleadmare, I’m sorry to hear about the spasm pain. I hope it passes soon.
@momx4hill, I’m sorry for your loss. One day won’t negate any progress you’ve made.
@Candyn617, great loss! I also come here for motivation when I’m starting to feel a craving and it helps to read through everyone’s post and see all the positivity and encouragement.
@aliciap0116, I think onederland is completely possible. You got this. Also, happy to hear the scales moving! That’s always a great feeling.
Kickboxing is going really well so far. I was surprised I didn’t feel sore yet, but that has definitely hit me hard today. I expected it for sure, but it’s so hard to want to do anything when the soreness is everywhere. I’m hoping some light stretching will help ease it up a bit. And welcome new faces! Please feel free to add me8 -
Thanks @BrownSugar174 !
And thanks for the welcome everyone.
I got my run in this morning, a speed test. I got up to a 9 min/mile pace there for a bit, very exciting. And to feel that burn in the quads where I know I'm working, muah *chef's kiss*. All my food is planned, including a treat, and my numbers look pretty great today. Just have to stick to the plan.
I hope everyone has a great hump dayyyyyyyyyyyy9 -

I have plateaued!!! I lost 15 lbs since I started in November and can't seem to drop any more lbs!! Any and all advice is welcome!! Help me!!7 -
Hi @shellebelle813 ! Every time I've plateued, I wasn't weighing my food properly, or was weighing some but not all, so my logging wasn't as precise as it could be.
Could that be a problem? Not as much sleep? Stress? Less active?8 -
@CupcakeCrusoe terrible sleep and being less active could definitely be the issue. UGH. Thanks for the advice! I need to step it up on the working out which i hate LOL5

Well hello, Just started my fitness pal a week and a half ago and just saw this thread. I am 63 which is older then most I have seen here and been fighting being big for all of my life. Have lost several people (in weight) in my life but they always come back to visit ha ha. I do have chronic health problems which certainly doesn't help. Gave up regular cigarettes on December 2nd after 40 years of smoking, went to E-cigs and promptly put on 20 pounds in like 6 weeks geeze that figures but was upsetting..soooo .....going to give it the ole college try to get some of this ole fat off my poor old body lol. Joined a gym started going last week and will be going twice a week from now on....exercise is hard....but what isn't. I actually walked a mile on the treadmill yesterday at 2.0 per hour....and believe me for me that was a huge deal and I was very happy with me and have a class on Tuesday and Wednesday with some gals my age so I think doing this with others is really going to be a help. Also getting a used treadmill for home this weekend and a goal is to walk one mile at the gym on Tuesday's and Thursday's and at least another couple of miles at home to start building up some stamina.
Have a terrible liking for sweets so that is gonna be a kick to kick ...(grin). Very happy to meet you all and hey....let's just do it the best we can.7 -
Hello. I just need motivation I guess. I'm doing a weight loss program in my area and have lost approximately 31 lbs in the second half of 2019. However, I somewhat fell off the wagon but I didn't drag it into the woods and set it on fire and use the insurance money to buy cupcakes. LOL So now I'm trying to get back on the wagon. I'm older and menopausal which is another issue in and of itself. It's like pulling teeth to get the pounds off. But I digress. My goal for 2020 is to get out of the 200's.
The program I'm doing has me eating 1500 calories a day. No allowance for exercise. I work out 3-5 times a week doing strength training, Zumba, walking, home videos, etc. But it's so slow.
How many calories do those of you around my current weight eat?

Total loss: 9.6lbs
I lost 2.8 pounds this week! My January loss is up to 9.6lbs :O
I feel so elated with my progress. 2019 ended rough for me so to be able to erase those gains from the last month so fast is excellent. Mentally I feel good and like I can do this lifestyle change. More energy, happier, overall everything is better. I know I can't expect to lose 3-6 pounds every week but for now I'll take it!
2020 Resolutions
1. Prioritize healthy lifestyle through action (logging food, exercise, healthy choices, etc.)--> I'm doing it, my actions match my words
2. Make more time to socialize with friends/fam--> I have events for the next few weeks to friends/fam set up
3. Try a new recipe once a week--> I did a recipe but it was not healthy lol for football viewing I made fried chicken wings using John Legend's family recipe. You can find it on youtube if interested. It was good but salty, will use less salt next time. I figure if I am gonna eat bad food I may as well make it so I know whats in it.
5. Run 1/2 marathon--> no runs yet but close to losing the 20 I want to start running again. Just walking/stair master for now
6. Pay off car--> in progress
January Goals
1. Lose 5 pounds--> Almost doubled! Can I triple it?
2. Walk/Run/Hike 30 miles (1 mile a day) --> 9.2 mi, I am a bit behind on this, need to add more time to my weekend walks/hikes to help make up. Hope to be at 20 miles by next week to be back on pace
4. Meditate using Stop, Breathe, Think App Daily--> I am not doing this, for those that do meditate, when do you do it? I am having a hard time figuring out where it fits into my routine.11 -
@Candyn617 Great idea to do a few squats on the frequent bathroom trips. Very nice loss for the week. I bet the ring tightness is water bloat and there will be another drop. You are so consistent in keeping the scales moving down. Keep going.
@theleadmare I think learning to be comfortable with ourselves is a lifelong process. As I'm getting older it is getting easier. My son is 29 and also on the spectrum. Sadly we didn't realize it until he was out of high school. If Asperger's was still separate he would be listed as that. We just always thought he was a super smart pain with things like having volumes on odd numbers and too many others to list. He talks about faking emotion on the rare times he communicates. Although he is very good at expressing anger and frustration. Tbh it hurts my heart not only that we didn't discover the "why of" early on when help is available at younger ages but he will never experience happiness or love. I'm so happy you have found a way to find that comfort within and start living life as you want. Congrats on the 7lb loss! Hope you can get the muscles eased soon.
@flimflam82 Awesome that your hubby is on board and supportive. I love that he took the time to cook a healthy meal for you. I just recently started buying zoodles and am liking them as a pasta base much better than I imagined. I've found I need to drain them really well. Sprinkle with a little salt, pepper, and garlic then saute. I make regular noodles for everyone else.
@speyerj Congrats on hitting the 75lb loss!!! Ticking off all those weekly goal boxes is really paying off. Your new shoes are gorgeous and I expect a modeling shot when you get them. Keep up the good work.
@momx4hill I'm sorry for your loss. One day of slipping isn't a big thing. What matters is not letting the one day turn into two and so on. You've already got a plan in place to get back on start so don't worry about it.
@aliciap0116 Very nice loss. You might not have hit the weekly goals like you wished but are definitely doing something right.
@shellebelle813 I'm still to new to have had plateaus but there are some great ladies here who have hit them and pushed through. I'm sure they will have some great advice. Meanwhile trust in the process and don't let the scales be a discouragement. You've got this!
@MuttiNM Congrats on your loss. Doing great
@suziieq44 Like you mentioned most things are hard but you can lose and meet your goals. Look at you already getting a mile in. I think joining the gym classes with people you can relate to will make things easier.
@ladyluch99 Your wagon story cracked me up. Last year was a successful one for you so maybe changing things a little if your stuck could help. The program has 1500 cal lock but have you tried plugging in your numbers to MFP. If you are exercising quite a bit but not eating those calories then that might be the problem. Smarter people than me will be along but that is my first thought.
@sharpdust WTG you are dropping it this month!! I prefer to do my meditation late afternoon. Hubby is off to work by then and anything I need to do is usually done. Much harder to fit in around a work schedule. Maybe taking time right after getting home and before eating would be good. It could be used to close out the work day and start the you day.
The numbness is really bad today. I can only stand for a few minutes and can't lift my arm past chest height. Exercise is still back burner but did a mini food prep. I boiled some eggs, instant pot rice, and baked a couple of ham steaks (those mostly for hubby and son). I still have some chicken breast and pork chops from earlier along with a few servings of the lentil soup I didn't freeze. That should get me through the rest of the week pretty well. Hope everyone has a great week and finds some inspiration to get things done.

I bought 2018 copy of Just Dance for the Switch, gees that’s a good aerobic exercise and I have zero coordination

Very happy!
No alcohol continuing and 10,000 daily steps with the hound and striding it out for a better workout.5 -
BOOM 💥 @CupcakeCrusoe I just had this revelation! My use of olive oil and coffee creamer!3
-
@speyerj Congrats on your loss! What store are your shoes from? Both these and the boots are so gorgeous.
@flimflam Spaghetti squash works well to substitute and making your own zoodles with a spiralizer as well. The hungry girl site has lots of recipes for them. So much better than regular noodles. And your husband is a gem!
Started walking at lunch.4 -
@suziieq44 Welcome! I'm 61 so one of the older ones too. I've lost a person or so (in weight) several times as well but they never seem to leave me alone either. I'm hoping this time I can say good-bye permanently! Congrats on quitting the cigarettes. You're doing great on the exercise. When I started this time, I didn't add any exercise until I was logging my food and eating at a calorie deficit for 3 months. Then I started at just 4 minutes on a recumbent exercise bike, adding a minute a day for a while. I couldn't really walk much and that was about all I could handle. This time around I decided to try baby steps instead of changing everything at once and sustaining nothing. It's working so far but there have been no huge stressors in my life lately. We'll see what happens when the stress ramps up again as it surely will. Good luck!6

I started reading all the posts and commenting on them since I last posted and gave up! My fault. I thought I would get on here last weekend and didn’t. I deleted all those comments to old posts. So I admit I skipped to a few pages from the current page.
@shorepine Sorry you are missing your Mom. I spent time Sunday updating my logging that I missed. Hope you got a good nights sleep.
@theleadmare glad it was a good day Tuesday. Good progress today! Hope your shoulder feels better soon.
@bluffgirl67 I made red lentil soup this weekend and it was so good. I just discovered red lentils. I love soup but I don’t always have time for them. Sorry you aren’t feeling well today.
@speyerj Congrats on reaching this goal
@aliciap0116 Now that’s a nice weigh in Wednesday. I think it is a good idea revising goals a bit too.
@shellebelle813 the time I plateaued it was because I wasn’t eating enough calories. I lost 20 lbs and tried everything to lose. It turn out I was eating below my BMR! Once I took a break at maintenance calories and I started to lose. I began lowering my calories again after a few weeks setting them at between my TDEE and BMR and lost my next 20 lbs. Sometimes we need a break from low calories.
@suziiieq44 I am older than you are and there are all ages here. You are taking some good steps.
@ladyluch99 I am definitely dealing with the age related slower metabolism. I lost for a while on lower calories (1550) but then stopped losing. I found that I need exercise to help metabolism which you are doing. I weigh about what your starting weight is. I have a 1650 goal. I am 5’6”. I sometimes eat some of my exercise calories. I find that getting enough sleep and eating healthy at home help a lot.
@shardust Yay!
Snow day for me today. Monday and Tuesday were late start days at work so I have been able to catch up with sleep. I thought the Y was open so I tried to go to the morning Aquafit class but it opened late. However I made a healthy breakfast at home. I am continuing to get the holiday lbs off. I just hope to get some new lbs off this January. I have logged food better but haven't been able to do it daily. Although I didn't make it on here this weekend I did get caught up on my spreadsheet and some logging. I made some food for the week as did my husband.
He goes to aquafit with me and we both try to make healthy food at home despite both working fulltime and commuting. Most days we drop off our youngest at the transit center so she only has one bus on our way to work and pick her up on our way home at school.
After reading alot of the posts on here I really feel I need to focus on getting on this thread more often. It is what I had been looking for.
SW: 266
CW: 263.8
Goals:
Post and log daily keeping calorie goal
Up water intake
Make sure I get enough sleep
Continue Aquafit 3 days a week (except when closed for snow!)
Make steps to increase exercise (exercise on non aquafit days)
Continue to make meals at home as much as possible
Tweek weekday breakfasts
Lose all holiday lbs and start to lose more by the end of January
Next post I plan to quantify the above goals so I can track progress.
Hope all have a great week!7 -
Height : 5ft5
CW: 211.6 (starting today from scratch)
1st GW: 168 (hopefully by July 2020)
2nd GW: 140 (Will stay at this weight if i look good/feel heathier otherwise il do 3rd GW)
3rd GW: 126
My Goals:
To try to lose weight for my birthday (13th July 2020) as planning to go abroad somewhere and i want to be able to be confident in swimsuit/ photos. Happy to have lost anything atm but 12 stone (168) is my first goal weight. Currently suffering from chronic plantar fasciitis which is an injury to the foot so my mobility is minimal.
Hoping within this year i am more mobile to include more exercise into my weight loss plan; for now i hope to start swimming at least once a week by 1st week of Feb.
To find a job so i can earn income, keep this roof over my head and eventually be able to pay to use gym/ swimming fees.
Rest of year:
*Go on at least 1-2 holidays
* Get provisional license and start learning to ride a motorbike (if i have money)
* Do some voluntary work with animals
* Start and complete a GCSE Maths Course
* PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE CAN PLANTAR FASCIITIS GO AWAY THIS YEAR?!!!8 -
Ok, so I've been catching up with everybody's posts (WOW!! ) I was noticing many of you choose Wednesdays to weigh in. I was thinking of doing it on Fridays. But, I was like... Hmm, maybe I should just jump on the scale today and see what happens. I've lost weight!!
SW: 201.4 (1/6)
1/10: 200.8
CW: 199.4
I was definitely expecting to either be the same weight or back up again. The weekend wasn't really great, I don't think I even logged Sunday. I have gone over in my daily calories a few days, but still logging them!! I haven't even kept up with exercising (did some today tho). So weird... Definitely encourages me to keep going!! LOL!!5 -
@BrownSugar174 olive oil gets me every time. I need, I don't know, a dedicated cup with a tablespoon in it for use all day or something. Then just log that every day. That could work actually...5
-
So I haven't posted since my original post in here on December 31st and I'm a bit ashamed of myself because I promised to try and do better! I've actually done...way more than I expected. I haven't been able to really hit on all of my monthly resolutions. The gym has mostly been a bust so far and I've gotten a lot less exercising at home done than I want to on account of being sick for a while (was going to try and start again today but my stomach basically just laughed at me and went "you thought"). But I have stayed away from the vending machine at work and I've tracked every piece of food that has gone into my mouth.
I weigh in on Mondays and on the one which just passed, I weighed in at 218.5 lbs, meaning I've lost about 7 and a half pounds this month. My conservative estimate of aiming for 1.5 pounds per week says that I'm doing pretty great for myself. I know the weight won't always come off this fast, but seeing those numbers drop means that if I can keep anywhere near this pace for the next several weeks, I'll drop out of the 200s by sometime in March. But that's putting the cart before the horse and for now I'm just going to worry about trying to avoid eating the birthday cake my nieces made for me last night for my birthday yesterday!6 -
Hi everyone!
I just turned FORTY on Saturday and am headed to Mexico with a girfriend in exactly five weeks! I've GOT to make a difference in my weight, even if it's just 10lbs. I started working out again on Monday and will go three days a week. I do 9Round, the boxing circuit training, and I LOVE it. I am on a caloric deficit, 1200 calories a day and I'm doing intermittent fasting. Here's hoping I can get some of this weight off AND KEEP GOING, even after I get back from Mexico! I want to look good and FEEL good in my body. I'm sick of my fat pants and muffin top. HAHA. It's time to take back control!
Age: 40, ugh
Starting Weight: 225 (1/6/20)
CW: 223
Goal Weight for Mexico: 212
Goal Weight: 180
I love this group! I just found it today but you ladies are MOTIVATING! Get it girls!
Also, if anyone has some really awesome Before/After pics, I'd love to see them! I love real women going out and crushing their dreams! It makes me feel like I can do it too!
Thanks for the positivity!

@CupcakeCrusoe this evening I actually pulled out the measuring spoon to measure out a tablespoon and it blew my mind how much olive oil I was using but not really recording🤯🤯🤯🤯! My coffee creamer!!! SAME! The serving is 2 tablespoons...I’d been recording between 4-8 because it’s my sweet tooth and tastes so good😬🤪! Girl last night I actually measured out a 1/4 cup (four tablespoons) and my coffee wasn’t as sweet but in my mind I’m like “It’s soooooo good😂😂).7

@flimflam87 its definitely a blessing when your partner supports your efforts. My BF was similar before as in "should I get a pizza on the way to your place?" but not he sees that I am trying and has changed the types of foods he recommends.
@speyerj Way to go! Your starting weight is a little less than my current weight so seeing your progress is very inspiring and making me believed that I can do it. Keep doing what you're doing cuz its working!
@theleadmare Good loss, hope your shoulder feels better soon
@momx4hill funerals are always full of food and emotions, so not hard to see how you slipped up. The important thing is that you get back on track
@Candyn617 Sometimes the scale surprises us in a good way. Hope you have a better week next week as far as physical activity
@aliciap0116 What an awesome goal, I'm excited to hear about you reaching it!
@Terytha I hear you on that hopelessness, it is so easy to get in your own head. So glad you stuck it through and are doing so well
@torihudson6 That sore feeling is the best! Keep it up
@CupcakeCrusoe Planning is key for me! Even down to the treats. I remember when I used to be able to run a 9 minute mile, its definitely a goal for later down the line
@MuttiNM Great loss! Keep it up
@suziieq44 "exercise is hard...but what isn't." this stood out to me, anything worth anything requires work. Happy to see you trying again and look forward to hearing about your progress
@ladyluch99 Congrats on your progress so far. Hope you reach your goal in 2020
@bluffgirl67 You inspired me to go to the gym yesterday. I was at home, considering not going again, but in checking out posts I saw your comment to "hit the gym and show it who's boss" and that was all I needed to change and get my butt out there. I truly appreciate your advice. I'm sorry that you are not feeling well enough to work out, hope you feel better soon
8 -
LOL right! @BrownSugar174 Four tablespoons is easier for me to shrug off than a 1/4 cup, too, for some reason, it's like, "oh it's JUST four of these" and then you realize... "yep, that's a 1/4 cup right there" the measuring cup makes it more real
I used to take a whole bunch of creamer in my coffee, too, but now I order a bunch of flavors of syrup from Torani's website- the sugar free ones, and do almond milk with it. My husband still takes full sugar in the morning, so a couple times a year we order enough to qualify for free shipping!5 -
@fitchick37 omg! That’s such a good idea about the switch game! I’m def copying you lol.2
