NEVER GIVE UP! You can surprise yourself! I have.
What we need to succeed is a sustainable way of eating, not a DIET we go on and off.
This is NOT A DIET. It’s a LIFESTYLE.

01/08 121.5 Late dinner last night, couldn’t go to sleep (drinking a Bang on the drive back from DGD’s basketball game wasn’t a good plan), awake early as DH had to take friends to the airport at 6.
01/09 121.0 Went to the gym yesterday for the first time in a long time (November??) My leg hurts - so mad I forgot to ask the doctor about sciatica-the assistant had made a note but then he and I got into a blood pressure med discussion and I forgot and he didn’t see her note, I guess.
01/10 120.0
01/11 121.5 Greek salad, 1/2 pita, small piece of birthday cake - it was our neighbor’s 80th! Cake was bleech. Why do I do this????
01/12 120.5
01/13 121.0 BP check at doctor’s office this morning and meeting my friend at the gym this afternoon. BP’s are always good at home, we’ll see how it is at the office. White coat syndrome. Our baby turned 47 today!
01/14 121.0 My BP was excellent. Met my friend at the gym when she got off work yesterday.
01/15 121.5 Went to Buffet@Asia yesterday. Lots of carbs. Today is my art quilt meeting, we’re meeting friends for a movie this afternoon, and community bingo/dinner tonight.
01/16 121.0 22 hour fast yesterday broken after the movie broken by bacon and crisp chicken skin. I took a salad with chicken and blue cheese to bingo because they were having spaghetti.9 -

1/12-168-I had skied a lot and figured I lost a pound. Yesterday I still was carrying some salt...glad to be back in the 160’s.
1/13-167-I did not feel hungry at all yesterday, I’m glad for the downward trend.
1/16-167-Gone for a few days packing up the house and at a quilting class. Hoping to stay in the 160’s.8 -

01/12 159.4 This week is motivating, but I know it is also mostly water weight from cutting sodium back and logging again. I have this bad habit of eating when I am annoyed or upset with my spouse... Which is a lot recently. 😂
01/13 160 beginning my second week of logging again and stepping on the scale daily. Yesterday I ate well, but I could have skipped the bread and wine at dinner. I'm feeling emotionally much better today than I have in about six months. I know the impact food has on my mental health, but very hard to do anything about it sometimes. It is not yet 11a and I have almost hit my step goal for the day after a 70 minute hike.
01/14 159 ate very well and very clean yesterday. Planning on replicating today. Heading out for another hike.
01/15 158.6 yesterday was another great day, with the small exception of two glasses if wine in the evening while I was cooking and eating.
01/16 160 I stayed within my calories, but I ate back my exercise calories, which I don't usually do. And, dinner was pretty sodium heavy. I'm hoping if I can eat clean today and turn down offers of wine from the husband tonight at dinner, I'll bump back down to 159. I'll start round 102 overseas on a trip visiting my sister in Ankara, turkey. Need to figure out how to long all sorts of foods I don't usually eat.

Day/Weight/Comment:
1/08: 132.0 - can't complain when it doesn't go up. Weight lifting yesterday and this morning plus 25 minutes treadmill/elliptical. An hour in the gym this morning and my apple watch says I burned 300 calories. Hard to stay under calories when I can eat that back in a nanosecond. But still feeling on top of this for now. Stopped at grocery store and bought lots of veggies for roasted veggies and garbanzo beans tonight. Have a fantastic healthy day, everyone!
1/09: 130.4 - Wow, that's pretty cool. I've changed my diet to maximize protein, which is really hard for me as a vegetarian. The last 2 nights, even though I wasn't hungry, I added an 80 calorie/15 gram protein plain greek yogurt at the end of the day (on top of adding as much protein as possible during the day) and maybe that has made a difference. And I started lifting heavily on Monday, lifted the last 3 days. Taking today off from lifting because my arm is sore and I'm trying to listen to my body. But might add some sort of activity.
1/10: 131.0 - no work out yesterday, was hard to stay within calories without those "extras" but I did it. Today, great workout (back and biceps) and 20 minutes elliptical. Taking a road trip tonight to look at some cheap cars and dinner will be on the road, must make good choices.
1/11: 130.0 - just hit my goal weight! Took a solid year to get here and it feels pretty amazing. Now to keep it here! I think 2 things really jump started the weight loss over the last month - eating more protein and lifting weights. Well, that and eating consistently at a deficit. Who knew ;-).
1/12: 129.0 - going to enjoy this downward trend for as long as it lasts. Great workout yesterday, ate under calories and got lots of protein. Btw, 125 is my ultimate happy, happy weight. 130 was a “let’s see how I feel when I get there” goal.
1/13: 129.2 - Had a great workout today but I overdid it and my tennis elbow is very sore. I was doing so well, thought it was getting the rest it needed but now I feel like the last 2 weeks off from pickleball was for nothing. Very frustrated with myself for not taking it slowly. I know better.
1/14: 129.8 - Forcing myself to take today off from working out. Sitting still is a challenge. Considering going swimming, that's rest, right?
1/15: 129.8 - Man, it was hard to eat under calories yesterday and I ended up adding some time on the treadmill and some stretching/abs at the end of the day so I didn't go over. Surprised the scale isn't higher today, felt like I snacked all day long. I will have to figure out how to get some solid exercise in while resting my elbow.
1/16: 130.6 - Not surprised to be inching up a little, I've been off track. Haven't been working out and that a) makes it hard to stay under calories and b) gives me a whole lot of time to be bored and eat more.
1/17:10 -
Past is over. Future is uncertain. We only have today.
RSW: 157.4 lb
RGW: 152 lb
UGW: 145 lb
What am I going to do daily to make a better tomorrow?
1. Log my food. Drink my water. Sugar/Alcohol Fast.
2. Exercise for at least 15 minutes. Strive for 10k steps.
3. Be grateful. Determine and complete my WIG.
07 jan: (157.4) Did not wake for exercise and did not get out during the day for a walk. Food included M&Ms and did not measure dinner. Positives- Logged food. Measured the M&Ms and ate with control. Made effort to get in a few steps during Legos. Did a quick cleanup before bed.
08 jan: (157.4) Today's obstacles- Finding time for exercise which seems like a constant lately as I don't want to wake up early. Food logged- no sugar/alcohol except for 3 chocolate covered peanuts. Was able to get in about 15 minutes of exercise (8.5k steps). Kept an attitude of gratitude.
09 jan: (158.4) Today’s obstacles- Busy day. Will have to walk at work to get any exercise. Woke up hungry.
10 jan: Travel to wedding
11 jan: Wedding
12 jan: Travel home from wedding
13 jan: (160.3) Up a few pounds which is expected. Worked out this morning. Made a good choice of eating my packed lunch instead of the crap that was provided at work. Busy night ahead. Goal is to something that will make my home life calmer tomorrow. Good day. Was on track with all of my goals and life habits. Tackled more of the front porch.
14 jan: (158) Back down. Lifted weights this morning. Another busy day ahead. Happier goal today is to vacuum and dust my bedroom. Work goal- complete my permit application. Update: Bedroom cleaned. Ate according to plan. Good day.
15 jan: (156.5) Looks like my efforts have been paying off! Woot! Woot! Slug this morning after being up late last night. Happier goal- bathroom cleaning. Work goal- KPIs and permit application. Health goal- Exercise tonight after work. Get up and move every hour. Was able to keep active yesterday during work. Took kids swimming. Got into foods that I shouldn’t have last night- Sugary cereal; caramel popcorn; then had a bit of a binge after swimming. Not good. Happier goal of cleaning was not accomplished. Work goals not all complete, but I felt accomplished.
16 jan: (156.0) A few more pounds and I’ll be able to fit back into my skinner jeans. YAY! Exercise goal- 10,000 steps. (I will need to walk at lunch to accomplish this). Happier goal- clean the bathroom. Work goal- Permit application. Food goal- WATER!

That's what 220.0 is for me right now. Time to get my $#!+ together. I'll be in the gym tonight. I'm going to make today a good day.
1/9: 219.2 (-1.0)/18.4 (-0.1). I hit the gym last night, and it felt much better than last time. My neck and shoulder are actually hurting less AFTER going, which for some reason is how my body tends to work. I've been dragging my feet on this, but I think I'm almost ready to give keto a go again. I've had a lot of success on it in the past, and I've been hovering between 215 and 220 for months now.
1/10: 219.0 (-0.2)/18.4 (0.0). I went a little wild with dinner last night after I found a really good local poke/ramen place. I'm finding myself REALLY sore today after the gym a couple of days ago. It's amazing how just taking even a week or two off can affect my experience there. I'm back on track with my schedule at the gym, however; I'll be lifting weights tonight after work. I really hope basketball starts back up again soon. I miss it, even though I know the first 2-3 times I play will be terrible. Getting older SUCKS!
1/11: 218.0 (-1.0)/18.3 (-0.1). I tried not to eat yesterday unless I was hungry. I didn't make it to the gym yesterday, but I'm going this morning with my wife. I'm going wine tasting and having dinner with my parents and wife today. I'll do my best to keep it "under control," but this would likely be one of those "cheat days." I'm going to focus on portion size.
1/12: 220.2 (+2.2)/18.5 (+0.2). I didn't do a great job of "staying under control."
1/13: 221.0 (+0.8)/18.6 (+0.1). I had a surprise 1.5 year old visitor yesterday (my nephew/Godson), and we "ordered in" dinner when his parents arrived to pick him up. I was pretty good throughout the day, but dinner was a bit of $#!+ show. I WILL, however, be going to the gym tonight after work. And I AM going to get this thing under control. Here's to everyone (including me) having a good week!
1/14: 219.4 (-1.6)/18.4 (-0.2). The work week is ALWAYS better for me. I'm busy all day, and I'm 100% in control of everything that goes in my mouth. Even as I say that it sounds funny; I am, of course, ALWAYS 100% responsible for everything I put in my face. But work is easier. Even dinner is easier, because having to go to work the next morning appropriately limits what I can do for dinner. I'm going to need to think about this a bit more.
1/15: 219.4 (0.0)/18.4 (0.0). I didn't go to the gym on Monday, but I'm going tonight (dammit!). I'm struggling a bit trying to get myself completely back on track. I just realized that work has continued to be an issue for the past couple of months. It's been super-stressful, and I have had some major deadlines that have needed to be "pushed back" multiple times. This weekend will be the end of that. I'm hoping that the removal of this giant stress will feel as good as I think it will.
1/16: 217.8 (-1.6)/18.3 (-0.1). My wife is going to run a 5k, her knee was sore last night, so I decided to push back the gym one day (to tonight) so that we can go together. That's my story. My food is all planned out today/tonight, and I'm going to the gym, so today WILL BE A GOOD DAY!

Day/Weight/Comment
01/08--207.0 My stomach did not feel well this morning, and I know I ate something that I am sensitive to. I'm going to drink a lot of water today, and be careful about what I eat today.
01/09--207.0 Stomach feeling better, but still not 100%. I was able to finish another session of YWA last night.
01/10--206.5 Went to the gym this morning. Finished Day 8 of YWA yesterday, it was a relaxing session, which I definitely needed.
01/11--206.3 Relaxing day today and going out to a movie.
01/12--205.6 I did not eat any of my hubby's popcorn during the movie yesterday, and what helped me was that I brought an apple with me to the movie. I didn't eat the apple during the movie, but by bringing the apple it helped me mentally, because it made me question whether I was really hungry before I ate the popcorn, or did I just want to eat the popcorn because it was there. If I told myself that I was really hungry, then I told myself, "well, you have an apple with you, so you can eat it once the movie is over." That self-talk helped me from mindlessly eating the popcorn. Strength coach this morning and then going out for an early dinner.
01/13--206.1 Yesterday, I went out for dinner yesterday, and I chose a great lower calorie meal. I also had a really hard workout with my strength coach yesterday, he changed up my workout for preparation of my Spartan race, and I am so sore this morning. Goal today is water. Ballet class this evening.
01/14--205.6 I had another great ballet class yesterday, but I'm still sore from my workout on Sunday. More water today, and other than my yoga, no other workout for me.
01/15--205.6 I had a small snacking session after dinner yesterday, it's been a while since that last happened. Looking back, I can't see why I did it. Regardless the reason, at least I recognized that it was happening. Strength coach today.
01/16--204.3 I had missed the past 2 days of doing YWA, but last night I finished Day 12 and it felt great. Tempted to go out for a run tonight, I haven't ran in almost 2 weeks. Hopefully it's not raining tonight.

Eat at/under calorie goal each day (I’m full time breast-feeding, so that’s still a lot of calories!). Be especially watchful of evening eating. Hydrate. Move. Lose any amount.

R101 - First Round for Me.
Goals in 2020: lower body fat %, gain strength, improve running times, focus on macros esp protein goals, hit goal weight.
56 year old, female, 5' 7"ft
Heaviest W: 160
Current W:. 148.9
Challenge GW: Lose 2 lbs as I get back into the swing of things after a long vacay.
Day/Weight/Comment:
1/08: 148.9 - first weigh in since 12/21. Better than I expected after eating and drinking whatever I wanted for 2 weeks. It was worth it but need to batten down the hatches for 2020. Did a circuit training class and went for a run and it felt good. I will be sore
1/09: 148.8 - Had my Body Fat % measured at the gym via a DXA scan. I now have some data to work with to get stronger and lose the fat. And I need to eat more protein.
1/10: 148.8 ( same ) Never understand how my scale measures the same weight. Don't know if I trust it tbh. Had a good run. But still enjoying the wine at night. That has to stop - empty calories
1/11: 149.8 (+1 lb ) Weighed after my protein drink and coffee so who knows. Heading to the gym for some weights and cardio.
1/12: 149.6 (-.2) Pre-run. Ran 6 miles today - felt ok. Ate a big breakfast so need to be watchful the rest of the day and get some veggies in me and lots of water. Hoping for a great week ahead of motivation
1/13: 149.8 (+.2) One word……Pancake! Going to focus on water and eating some extra veggies. I am sore today so the walk helped. Also need to get back into abstaining mode for a while re alcohol. Just a derailing habit for me.
1/14: 149.8 – (same) I think its weird that I can weigh in the same day after day. What are the chances? Keep thinking that my scale is not right but then I added an 8 pound dumbbell and low and behold, my scale said 157.8 so it appears to be accurate. I will just go with it. Numbers are funny that way. Another day another chance to move and feed my body in a healthy way.
1/15: 147.6 (-2.2) Ate pretty well yesterday and left quite a bit in the bank. Drank lots of water. Met with trainer to go over strength circuit to kick some of my own butt. Dunno tbh. Just gotta keep on keepin on…..logging, moving, eating well, no alcohol. My 15 year old pup is killing my sleep vibes. She is slowly losing it...vision, hearing, acting really strange and last night, was panting and anxious all night long. Pain maybe? doggy dementia? Aging sucks whether your human or dog.
1/16:148.2 (+.4) Had an extra round of snacks yesterday at Mah Jongg….so not surprised. But said no the offered glass of wine so that’s a win. Had a good run albeit slow – it was hot and humid! Today’s challenge-staying up until 12:30 am to pick up darling daughter from the airport. That will set me back but hitting the gym later today for second day of strength circuit.

Day/Weight/Comment
01/08. 177.4
I've weighed in at what's typically my heaviest time of day. While the number distresses me, this change will provide a built in cushion of a few pounds when I'm back at my normal weight.
01/09. 177.2
No weight loss goal for the round. My focus is to avoid eating out and having processed foods at home. When I stick with this and get my exercise in the scale will eventually cooperate. As usual it will happen painfully slow but fat loss will happen.
01/10. 176.4
I ate until it hurt yesterday but my calories and macros landed where they should. Unprepared and living without a plan never works for me. Today I'll be ready.
01/11. 175.6
I did well yesterday with the exception of a very late dinner. This is no big deal since I'm following a 16/8 Intermittent fasting program for three days filled by one non fasting day. Dinner crossed into my non fasting day leaving my program in tact.
01/12. 173.6
An early weigh in has me a bit lighter than reality but I'm more focused on size than pounds. Weight is an objective measure for posting but a perfectly fitting wardrobe is my goal.
01/13. 174.2
I'm expecting a hellish start to my week so beforehand I want to get my weigh in done. Lately I've let everything get in the way of my personal needs but not this time. Today's 0.6 gain is as artificial as yesterday's 2.0 loss because of the varying times of day. (However, I still feel hurt whenever the scale goes up.)I'm outside of my time restricted eating zone this morning but I'll make it up on the other end. So far it's been a good week. My appetite is under control and my macros are on point.
01/14. 173.4
Yesterday I screwed up in such a way that to provide an accurate description in the words I would normally use would be far too rude for this forum. While both fast and keto are done for, calorie average is ok. Today has been better but it's early yet. My danger zone will not begin for hours. Lately I've not felt much inner strength but I'm going to fake it. Doing right when I would rather do wrong will plague me this evening. Nonetheless I must work at it. The struggle continues and I know I'll succeed.
Thanks so much MFP🤩Friends for the support and feed back. While I haven't had time to read posts I've seen the notices. I'll borrow from your strength today.
01/15. 174.6
The past day although better than the day before was poor. I caved easily without good reason because I've conveniently "forgotten" that I am on a diet for life. This is not a lifestyle choice it is a necessity. I'm determined to regaining my vigilance for doing what works. A major attitude adjustment is in progress.
01/16. 174.6
Calories fine. Macros shameful. My head is still not in the game but I'm working on my obstacles. I've been my own worst enemy after having felt so positive about getting my diet for life back on track. I'm working on the things that are derailing my progress. I'll soon be back to fasting and full on keto. I need this too badly to screw up. Long term health and success means everything to me.

Round 101 - Jan.8 to Jan.18
Female, 5’, 66 years. SW – 166.4, GW – 165 something, UGW – 140. (This really should be 125 or 130 but that seems like such a long ways to go and 140 would be a huge improvement.)
After reading over the comments on the last round, and also noting that my invisible GERD which had not bothered me for a long time is back, I’m going to try to stick faithfully to “no food after supper” for this round. I don’t know if that qualifies as IF (12-13 hours) but that is what gave me the idea. I think that the anti-viral meds were not kind to my stomach and also the extra few lbs all seem to be right on the middle which gives my stomach less space so giving my stomach a break seems like a good way to go.
01/08 – 166.2 – No food after 7:30 p.m. last night and definitely feel better this a.m. though woke up a little cold. Off to the gym for a short session.
01/09 – 165.6 – Managed IF again last night, even with spending a lot of time on the computer. Gym was good though shorter (kept it to 1 hr. including stretches). Also used a much lower resistance to be kind to the body.
01/10 - 166
01/11 – 166 – Late start yesterday and had to get to the gym in the morning if I was to go so did weigh but didn’t post. Did make it to the gym and also first coat on 4 doors. Couldn’t sleep because arm was hurting and finally took a painkiller – not my right though, or I would blame the painting, maybe something at the gym. So, was hoping to paint a second coat today … trying to decide if possible sore arm is worth the risk for the joy of having one more thing painted and off the list. That moving date is always at the back of my mind and I feel so much better if I know I’m keeping things moving forward.
01/12 – 166.2
01/13 - 165
01/14 – 165 – So great to see this number 2 days in a row. Now have 3 family weddings coming up – 2 in spring and 1 in Aug. If I can just get the weight down a bit and keep at the gym, I’ll be able to wear something I already have. Hate shopping under pressure because of a special event. Made it to the gym yesterday, painting today. Think I’m going to alternate because have to watch that I don’t overdo it on the arm exercise.
01/15 – 164.4 – Great to see this today, puts me back where I was sometime in Oct. Finished painting 4 more doors. Decided to give my arm a break today and work on paperwork and updating computer.
01/16 – 164.6 – Thankful this is not higher, we’ll see what tomorrow brings. Made granola last night, interrupted by long phone call, and of course had a sample, or two, or three, rather late so there went IF for yesterday. I used to think of granola as a healthy snack but once I calculated the calories I realized that it is incredibly high calorie so now I treat it like sweetened nuts. Husband likes it though and it is handy to have around for company.

So I am trying to get back on track. I reached my goal weight right before Christmas and then lost it. I am up about 6 pounds from where I want to maintain. So we will see what happens in this round. Have not really given it 100% or participated fully since round 97, yikes! This is my round to get my breakfast and lunches back on track and cut down on my alcohol.
01/08 - 144.3 Yikes! Breakfast and lunch were planned and I have not gone off track since Monday. Hoping to start losing anytime now. Have pretty much stayed right here the last couple of days. Ready for a water whoosh any day now!
01/09 - 143.1 I think my scale and body are confused on what I should weigh right now. I'm sure my body is freaking out that I ate a salad for lunch 2 days in a row, lol. I have been terrible the last couple of weeks and back on track only for the last couple of days. The first time it said 142.2, then 143.1, then 142.7, so I am going with the highest and hoping for another drop today. I would love for at least 4 pounds of this to be water weight. If I can get back into the 130's that would be amazing, but I am sure I have gained some actual weight the last month or so. I guess time will tell!
01/10 -143.0
01/11 - 139.8 Yes almost back to my pre-Christmas banaza weight!
01/12 - 139.8 I'll take it
01/13 - 140.7 Not bad for a Monday! Totally ok with this. We had fast food for dinner last night, but no alcohol all weekend. I am trying to finish out strong and get back down to 137 or 138. May take me another week or 2, but we will see. On track so far today and hoping to do the same tonight
01/14 - 142.0 I am sure this is from the chocolate that I ate right before bed or could be because I ate a pickle late to. I am having super weird cravings. I think it's because I am trying not to snack and cut myself off of the crabs and sugar that I have been indulging in the last couple of months. I should be back down tomorrow hopefully. No snacking tonight, no snacking tonight! (Hopefully)
01/15 - 140.7 I am ok with this. I am just chugging along right now and waiting to get firmly back in the 130's
01/16 - 140.7 holding steady. Just a couple more ounces and I will be back at the top of my maintenance weight. I think TOM is right around the corner so that may be what's stalling things right now. I guess we will see what happens. Hopefully in the next round I will get back into maintenance range!

My journey … "I May Not Be Where I Want To Be, but I’m Not Where I Use To Be!"In 2003 Weighed over 600 lbs.My highest weight was 611 in 2003. Weight in 2004 before weight loss surgery was 580. Lowest weight after surgery was 302 in 2007. "I May Not Be Where I Want To Be, but I’m Not Where I Use To Be!"
In 2005 Weighed under 400 lbs.
In 2007 lowest weight after surgery 302lbs
I joined MFP on March 27, 2010 weighing in at 388 pounds. I was re-gaining weight and stumbled up on it while trying to get back on track. I was determined never to see 400+ on that scale again for me.
I have been morbidly obese all my life. I have a lifetime of mental and physical scars from obesity. In October 2004 I had Gastric Bypass surgery. WLS (Weight Loss Surgery) was the best gift that I could and did give to myself.
Between 2008 and 2010 I gradually gained back 80 of almost 300 pounds lost initially after weight loss surgery. I never reached my goal weight of 200 pounds. I still managed to keep off over 65 percent of the weight I lost which is very good and I am very proud of my accomplishments since 2004. It has literally changed my life for the better on all levels. I am here to lose re-gained weight and to reach my initial goal weight. I am in no hurry. I am taking this one day at a time and I am in it for the long haul.
Surgery did not fix the head. It is a good tool and the best gift I have given to myself, but it was not the easy way out as many people think. Once the honeymoon period is over after the WLS it is up to the patient to keep the weight off.
On August 29, 2011-- I was admitted to Intensive Out Patient Eating Disorder Program to learn how to manage my binge eating disorder effectively. The program is wonderful indeed and will be instrumental in me reaching all of my goals. The focus of this program was how to eat and not diet. Weight loss was not a goal of the program. I actually gained 20 pounds in program. But I had to get thru a lot of stuff and my the time I was released I had stopped gaining. I was discharged from program on December 3, 2011.
My tool is still working for me today. My head is still the issue. SO the struggle continues. I will never beat myself up again. I fight the fine fight faithfully and positively everyday. Because that is what will get me to my goals one day. Even though it may not show up on the scale every day -- Everyday I make progress one way or another just by showing up, waking up and trying.
Giving up is not an option for me. Perseverance, Patience, & Positive thinking will help me reach my goals…… and the same is true for you too!! We have the power within us.

Day/Weight/Comment
01/07 …..190.6….. ENDING WEIGHT LAST ROUND
01/08 …..190.6 ….. A bit over calorie & carb yesterday so I’m glad to see no change actually. I walked at the school yesterday for 79 minutes burning an extra 467 calories. I was slowed down by a very nice older lady who walks daily to support her walking brother. I wanted to go faster, but wanted to be kind. I’m glad I did. She’s even nicer than I thought! What nice conversation we had! 12/13 fitbit step hours. I charged my fitbit overnight so I don’t know exact sleep either but it wasn’t good. I was a little better on water. Good Luck everyone this round!
01/09 …..194.0 ….. Travel day yesterday. Lots of sitting and a delicious menu to consider. If it was a test I failed it. Usually it is worth it, yesterday it was not. However, I did enjoy my time alone and away from home with my son who lives with me. It’s sometimes hard to get him out of his room and off the computer. That was the only thing I truly enjoyed. I am so glad to be home where I can get things back in control. I managed to burn 867 extra calories yesterday with the walking during the shopping. That is the only other bright light in the dark tunnel. Today I will begin my IF again. Today will be a good day. One day at a time in 10 day blocks, right? I’ve added my newest goal to this page, to be in the 170’s by Easter. Winter in isolated rural northern Michigan is a shut-in time but I can do this!
01/10 …..194.2 ….. This is just becoming very NOT FAIR!!! I had another severe glucose drop last night (it always happens evening or night AFTER I’ve had my allotted cals & carbs for the day). Frenzy filled face stuffing. I try to be mindful and trusting of the process of bringing it back up but I’m fighting human instinct here. To give you an idea, my glucose was 38. I think two things may be happening. #1 – my body has become re-accustomed to (too many) carbs between Thanksgiving & Christmas and is fighting me on the lower carb plan. #2 My weight is up, therefore, my T2D is worsening again. So the plan is to ease back into my low carb way of life which, in the end, is exactly what will help my T2D the most if I can just get past this hump again. (I went through all this is 2018 when I first started Keto). On the positive side, I walked 9.03 miles yesterday, I burned 3037 Calories. I walked over 21,000 Steps. I am back to staying active. The best part of all, I am committed. I’m just telling myself to “Hang on Donna. It’s going to be a bumpy ride.” I have moved past all of this before and I will do it again.
01/11 …..194.2 ….. Still working on balancing my glucose and following my plan. I must also work harder on the water!
01/12 …..194.2 ….. Talk about stuck at a weight! I felt a bit better yesterday without a major glucose episode but I can chalk that up to the fact that it was movie night with my son and it did involve a few more carbs than I normally allow, so no fuel cravings from my body. Today is a busy work day with lots of cabins to clean. I will get my exercise in and be mindful of my diet. I hope my body continues to adjust for me. I know it will…..it just takes time.
01/13 …..195.4 ….. Heavy work day yesterday including cabin cleaning & lots of snow cleanup (12.5 inches). Food on the grab not helping my cause. I will work harder today on myself. I hope to get to the school later to walk the halls. Steps good so far today at home. Perhaps some prep cooking tonight for my freezer if I can fit it in. I find that I am sleeping in the 4 hour range again these past few nights. That is not helping.
01/14 …..192.0 ….. After s.l.o.w.l.y easing back into lower carb I finally see a drop on the scale. Last night I began to feel a bit of a sugar drop, I pounded the water and ate an atkins indulgence bar and it passed. Thank Goodness! I just wasn’t in the mood to feel so sick again! Yesterday’s stats: 1194 Calories In / 2782 Calories Out. 16 Net Carbs. 20,367 Total Steps & 8.62 Total Miles. 13/13 Fitbit Step Hours. I slept 6 hours & 3 minutes. My son started back on his diet plan yesterday. It is completely different than mine due to his food issues related to sensory & autism. However, I have been cooking two different meals for each meal all along so it will not be an issue. I hope he doesn’t easily give up!
01/15 …..189.7 ….. Another drop which put me (finally) below starting weight this round. Yesterday was the first good day without a drop in my glucose levels. However, while walking at the school I became very VERY hungry with such loud stomach growls I was sure everyone could hear reverberating through the hallways! While I would love to walk in a fasted state, I know better because of my T2D, so I had a small meal before I left and still the hunger which is not typical. My body is fighting me as I get back into the lifestyle of low carb. Yesterday I won. I am happy to say that my home is back to being a “safety zone” with all good & healthy foods. My splurges will always be when traveling but one day does not affect me so permanently like the 5 week period between Thanksgiving and Christmas does because that time often contains more bad days than good. Yesterday’s stats: 1253 Calories In / 3467 Calories Out. 29 Net Carbs. 22,578 Total Steps & 10.69 Total Miles. 11/13 Fitbit Step Hours. I slept 4 hours & 23 minutes. I walked in my neighborhood for 60 minutes at 3.5 mph burning 370 cals, I walked at the school for 130 minutes at 3.0 burning 712 cals and I danced for 14 minutes burning 112 cals. Sample song – “Hold on we’re going home” by Drake.. Total extra calorie burn 1194.
01/16 …..189.7 ….. After two days of large drops, the scale has stabilized. Yesterday was a good day. I talked my 11 yr old DGS into staying after school and meeting me to walk the school hallways. I’m almost 60 and he couldn’t keep up! He walked two and ½ miles and I continued while he did his homework on a hallway desk. I did shorten my walk a bit for him, and slowed it down a bit but all was good. Yesterday’s stats: 1654 Calories In (a bit over)/2566 calories out. 58 Net Carbs (a bit over thanks to spaghetti squash casserole – got to say no to second portions!). 16,072 Total Steps & 6.8 Total Miles. 13/13 Fitbit Step Hours. I slept 6 hours & 52 minutes and needed every second of it! I walked for 96 minutes at the school at about 3.0 mph burning 500 calories and I did low-impact aerobics at home office until I was interrupted by business for 11 minutes burning another 58 calories. Total extra calorie burn 558.

R100 1/7/20 end weight 217.2lb (-1.6lb)
Start Weight- 218.8lb
Current Weight- 217.2lb
End of Round 101 Goal- 213lb
Ultimate Goal- 173lb
I’ve started some good healthy habits in Round 100- looking forward to continuing these for the next 10 days. Didn’t lose the amount of weight I wanted to in the last round, but did weigh in at 216 a few days ago. Looking for a ‘mini whoosh’ this 10 days to get me losing some lb!!! Aim is to go to the gym 8 times in the 10 days, always stay under my calorie goal and eat my dinners a bit earlier (not currently eating until after 8pm).
Day/Weight/Comment
1/8 - 216.0 lb (-1.2lb) A great start to the 10 days. Came in just below the daily calories allowance. Missed the gym due to football coaching going on too long. Today I plan to do some cardio at the gym, stick to my calories and avoid any treats on the staff room table.
1/9 -216.6lb- not bothered about the slight weight gain, however; disappointed in myself that I missed a gym session (I could have found time) and are a couple of biscuits from the staff room. Other than that stuck to my calories/ more water needed today- this really is my Achilles heel! Early finish at work today so gym around lunchtime for a heavy leg session. First time at the pub for a month tonight since I became AF a month ago. Lime and soda all the way- never want to go back to what I was!!!
1/10 - 215.4lb (-1.2lb). A good loss yesterday after a few days of no movement. Went to the pub last night and drank AF Becks. Didn’t miss ‘normal’ beer in the slightest, even if the becks didn’t taste that amazing. Ate 200 cals over my allowance, but did gain back lots of exercise calories through the gym and a very active football session. Aim for today is to stay under the calorie goal, go to the gym and drink 2.5l of water.
1/11 - 215.8lb (+.4lb) Wasn’t really feeling it yesterday! Only packed a very small lunch which meant I consumed far too much food after work. Hummous and breadstick binge 🙄. Drank lots of water but didn’t make the gym due to my girlfriend not feeling great (She’s 38 weeks pregnant)
Back to the gym today, do some cardio, deadlifts and some isolation activities. Aim is to be in the 214s by Monday.
1/12 - 215.8lb . Another day of feeling quite groggy. No gym yesterday, must be in the ‘nesting phase’ as all I seem to want to do is clean. Made the most amazing beef and celeriac stew last night, limited my portion and only had a small amount of potato. I WILL go to the gym today- no excuses. Light day planned today.
1/13 - 215.8lb. Ate very healthily today and drank quite a bit of water. Back to work today which always presents its problems with regards to fluid intake. Can never seem to get enough in. Might need to re-assess my 10 day goal. I think, because I’ve got a lot of weight to lose (42 pound) that it would come off quickly. Need to be more realistic and happy to lose 1.5lb a week.
1/14 - 215.2 (-0.6lb) Drank a bit more water than usual, although still need to drink more. Under my calorie goal, and ate a very healthy dinner. Food is all logged in advance for today- just got to stick to it.
1/15 - 214.0 (-1.2lb) Happy with that after a few days of same (ish) weight. Stuck to all my calorie goals yesterday. More of the same today- must continue to up my water intake. Managed to get 1.5 l yesterday, will
make sure I have 2l.
1/16 - 213.8 (-0.2lb) Happy to see another loss today- nice to see it ticking along. Aim to not binge after work and burn some extra calories at football coaching by being more active and running around more. Food is programmed in and I won’t go over. Would
love to see another loss tomorrow, no matter how small that may be.
