Today’s goal. Daughter turns 13 today
-work out/Zwift ride
-shoot for 750-1000 calorie deficit
-grocery shop
-going to cheese cake factory for dinner. Skip dessert. Eat smart

I agree with Cake fail lol Yesterday was my mom's birthday so we had cake and streak and shrimp and egg rolls. I think overall it came out to about 2000 calories only because it was my only meal of the day lol. Today I will be back on it and do better. the egg rolls are always my downfall cause I could easily snack on those all day long. Committed to hydrating and eating a low carb meal today!4

Scale goalsEnd of 2017: 174.6
End of 2018: 189.2
End of 2019: 196.4
End of January:
Today: n/a
Ongoing plans/ideas behind the cut1. Purchases: Look for an "ugly Christmas sweater" and a long-haired doll at thrift stores. Practice French braiding. Go to used bookstore and look for On Writing (Stephen King), Dying for a Paycheck (Robin Hardman), The Prince (tr. Tim Parks, Russell Price, or Robert Adams), The Secret Adversary (Christie).
2. E2: What should the controlling ideas be in a study of world literature? Review world lit options. Create vocabulary lists for each unit that come from the texts used: Animal Farm, Julius Caesar, Wes Moore, I Am Malala. Find a way to incorporate changing words from one part of speech to another. Students need to know how to review multiple sources and synthesize information in order to draw a conclusion. Need practice with the difference between transitions and overlapping (at end of paragraph - "another issue is Y" vs "there are other issues besides X"). Quit using "in conclusion" and "I believe" and other writing-about-my-writing phrases. Confusion between direct/indirect objects and prepositional phrases. Use the UDHR and the Declaration of Independence to study paraphrasing; use that to front-load Machiavelli and how to deal with challenging texts. Confusion between everyday / every day and similar constructions.
3. E1: Need practice with quoting & paraphrasing sources, identifying claims that would need support, use of last names for reference, and capitalization practice (common/proper nouns, titles). Difficulty using possessive nouns in their own writing. Honors: practice subject/object pronouns (my friend and I / my friend and me). Poetry: Revise "Songs are Poetry" handouts.
4. Curriculum Development: Writing mini-unit. Review scholarly research on 5PE. (I think I can have this as an intro to the research unit so that they also get exposure to how quotes are integrated and cited.) Parallel structure; use of emotional language, specific detail. Use "Write About a Pebble" lesson from Atwell. How long should each unit take? Do research on characteristics: curiosity, persistence, resilience, creativity, responsibility, optimism, courage, integrity, authenticity, leadership, self-awareness, humility, compassion - others? Include grammarly check on essays! Review assessments. What is the purpose for each unit? What should the controlling ideas be in a study of world literature? Review world lit options. Schedule assessments for Fall 2019; plan out return times. Write 1 reflection weekly; type one in Classroom by Weds. Copy-paste to discussion board for comments due Friday. PB usernames 6 digits, no 19 or 20s, no birthdates. Homework: Online journal Mon due Tue; Reflection Tue due Wed; C&P journal in class Wed; Comments Thu due Fri. Bonus if you are the first response; further bonus if you respond to comments on your post. Grammar practice Mon & Wed; quiz Fri.
5. Professional Development: Write blog post weekly. Comment on 3 posts each week -Tu Th Sun? Check with PSC. Talk with Z about articles and/or conference proposals. NOTE: ATTENDED PRE FLEX DAY.
6. Medical: Dentist Apr 30 8 AM but check on meetings and RS. Onco Apr ???. PCP Schedule for July. ObG schedule for October. PCP - allergy shots?
7. Theater: 1984.
8. House: Crawl space repairs. After that - siding? Or perhaps bathroom floor.
9. Fun: Open beading on Thursdays. Coloring at library on Tuesday. Put jewelry away. Edney Hack Nights alt Weds. ASL? Spanish/Portuguese practice? Practice piano. ROL Secret Adversary. Buy new bikes and bike rack for car.
10. Volunteering ideas: Theater. Library. Animal shelter. Community Kitchen. Emerge Georgia training.
11. Family: Find cousin photos.
WFTY: Progress. The morning is mostly gone and my grading is not done. UGHHHH.

This so far has been my favorite group I’ve seen on here. One day at a time is the best way. Today I concentrated on not snacking and drinking lots of water. Talked my pre-teen daughter to do yoga after dinner during the weekdays and some on the weekends. Starting tomorrow, working out first thing and getting more steps in. Another thing that I’m not proud of is I like beer and usually have a few especially on the weekends. I made a goal to not have any for a month and hope that the results give me the inspiration to keep going.5

I’ve read and kept caught up this weekend, but I’ve also spent some time doing things off of my phone and social media.
I don’t go back to work until Wednesday and I’m quite happy about that. Tomorrow is Family Day here in Alberta and Tuesday I am taking a lieu day for a dental appointment and to get my hair coloured.

HEGoddard0928 wrote: »@teigansdad I wanted to give you a fair warning since you are the only man on this board. I will be going into slight detail about a woman's health issue so feel free to skip over this post if it makes you feel uncomfortable.
Okay, so I have bad news. I went to get my ultrasound down yesterday. About half an hour after I left the radiology office I got a phone call from my doctor. They wanted to see me as soon as possible. So, of course, I'm freaking out. And honestly, I had a right to be freaking out.
On Wednesday I am going in for surgery to have my right ovary removed. I have a cyst the size of a baby's head attached to it. It explains a lot of things. It's also my fault that it wasn't caught before this. I was told to have an ultrasound 5 years ago. And then told again about 2 years ago and I just never went and did it. If I had this would have been caught a long time ago and I may not have needed this kind of surgery.
It is going to be a full open surgery. They'll have to go through my abdomen and remove it that way. The recovery is 6-8 weeks so I'll have to sign up for government short term disability/unemployment to try and get some kind of money while I'm out because there is no way we'll be able to pay my bills.
So I ask you my friends so keep me in your prayers and to send me good thoughts and all that.
Sorry to hear this, it must be a big shock. Wishing you all the best for the surgery. It will be just fine. I had similar surgery a couple of years ago to have a massive fibroid removed - similar size to your cyst. Recovery was quick. You do have to rest for some time afterwards to make sure you heal properly but most of the actual discomfort went very quickly and then it was just a question of putting your feet up . I seem to remember I was just taking paracetamol after only a couple of days. I actually really enjoyed my recovery period as it meant I got loads of time to read! (you can get loads of writing done!)
There are loads of women having procedures like this every day - I was amazed by the number in my ward! - so it's totally routine for them even though it's scary for you. They'll take care of you and then you can crack on with getting pregnant with your problems fixed Hugs and prayers x5 -
