R106 Goals — I’m trying something new this round. I’ve counted calories daily for years, through ups and downs, and have admitted to myself that it’s obsessive and not necessarily productive. This round I’m trying to simply eat when hungry and to mindfully choose mostly what I know is healthful. I’m going to weigh in only on the first and final days this round, but I will check in daily. I can see that not recording what I eat will be a struggle, I’ve been doing it for so long (even while gaining back some of what I’d lost), but I’m starting to work my way through The Intuitive Eating Workbook to see if I can stop snacking and otherwise eating stupidly, and stop letting food and calories control me. So no more weighing until 3/7 and no tracking this round. I know that’s not the point of this challenge, but this group is so supportive and inspiring, I want to hang out with you. 🎟

I’m managing not to step on the scale, but it’s hard — such a habit! I had a good weekend in terms of food (no idea about calories, but I felt “lighter”), and took a nice walk yesterday. It’s warmed up, but now we expect a few days of rain. Oh well!

Friday, 02/28: 274.9 lbs (-0.2) … I was fully expecting an uptick this morning. I was about 500 calories over budget and I ate quite a bit more food volume-wise than usual… but my trip to the gym yesterday seems to have countered that. That’s a good feeling. I’m going to try to recommit to going to the gym and running now. I’ve been slacking off for a while.
Saturday, 02/29: 276.2 lbs (+1.3) … Ran for 20 minutes on the treadmill today without much trouble. I decided that I’m going to go through the C25k program again, starting from W5D3, which is the first time you run for 20 minutes straight. Then I got a call from college daughter and it really stressed me out. She is struggling with post college decisions and I feel helpless knowing that its truly her journey and tried to reassure her that whatever she does, its just a step…a first step. Still had to have some wine after….😏🍷 Today is cardio medley because I can’t run just yet.

It IS getting tiring being this rigid with tracking every goal, every day, but I was slipping badly for a couple weeks. I feel stronger in every way now so one more day to make it the five I committed to, then I'll keep going just not post every goal, every day. It's time to weigh again Fri or Sat. 02/27 - 365.8 - Small uptick. Found that if I use ACV before a high(er) carb meal will balance blood sugar levels and it seems to help w/ my weight. I've been doing a lot of research, especially those doctors and dieticians (not YouTube influencers) that have done real research.
02/28 - 365.8 - I think stress is really hurting my rest. Job hunting isn't going as well as I need and it's definitely taking it's toll.
02/29 - 364.5 - First time in days I got decent sleep... and the drop proves it. Also started weight-work w/ kettlebell and free weights.
03/01 - 364.3 - Ate a donut yesterday (lol). The first real cheat in weeks. Tasted way too sweet. But kept myself under on my calorie limit, so that's good. I'll take the minor drop.
03/02 - 364.0 - The downward trend continues. Only 3.6 lbs. short of making my DietBet challenge. Must be at 360.4 on March 17th.
03/03 - 362.0 - Wasn't too hungry yesterday. Actually got a huge chef salad (oil/vinegar dressing) and still had plenty of room for frozen yogurt and a protein bar before starting my fast again. Four days to go and already made my goal weight. Also went to the gym again. 45 minutes, 3.08 miles on the eliptical. And now 40, yes, FORTY lbs. down on my journey.
03/04 - 362.0 - No change is fine. I'm still where I wanted to be for this round, so anything more is just the proverbial cherry on top. I an nearing a weight I have not been under for 10 years, so I AM getting excited.
03/05 - 360.7 - Damn! I might see sub-360 sooner than I expected. As of today, i'm down 42 lbs. since I started this journey on Nov. 17th. I'm doing a Snoopy happy dance.
03/06 - 359.6 - OK, bigger damn! This is the first time since my dogs died and my depression really kicked in, that I've been under 360. That was early 2011... so 9 years. Also, I started getting dressed while standing up. Little triumphs. While the stress from job hunting is still present, this weight-loss journey is keeping my spirits buoyed.

I have not been hungry all day some days or either don't know what to eat, then eat between 7-10pm. (All the DNW) Going through a period of being tired of cooking a meal for my family and then one for me each day. Slightly depressed over my hip pain and knee instability keeping me from exercising. Tried to start back a week ago, but didn't happen. Not sleeping well, mind too active. Having some underlying extended family concerns too. Nothing out of hand yet, but I gotta get it together. So sorry to have "disappeared" ❤

02/27 258.8 I was so sick yesterday I barely got out of bed, so this must be water retention from the chicken soup and crackers. Between the fall and getting sick it looks like Feb will be a wash. That’s okay though life happens, and I know all of this is water bounce up that will go once I’m eating properly again.

02/27: 181.4 (The scale is going down very slowly this week. I ate to plan and did some weight lifting and more spinning. The thing I forgot about spinning after a long hiatus is how much your butt hurts sitting on that hard saddle! I had to go to a sporting goods store after the gym and buy one of those cushions! Let’s hope the tush doesn’t hurt as much today!)
02/28: 179.6 (Yes! Back down to losing weight again! This is living proof that if you go off the rails, you could lose all that weight and more if you go back to it! A new low for me in 2020. I did a dance class on YouTube and ate to plan!)

02/28 …..195.8 ….. I had dinner at DD#2 last night and some glorious time with my DGS #4. She tries to keep it a bit more carb and calorie conscious for me which is very thoughtful. Not as on plan as at home but not too bad. I am unsure of exact calories & carbs, info too sketchy when I’m not sure of exact recipe, but overall didn’t seem too bad. I walked with my son at school during conferences since school was open. A little slower as he is not used to it, about 3.0 mph but I was proud of him. My total calorie burn for 110 minutes was 597. I walked 18,119 steps for the day, 7.67 Total Miles, burned 2839 Total Calories. 13/13 Fitbit Step Hours. I slept 5 hours & 47 minutes and only woke up once! An average day overall.
02/29 …..198.6 ….. I really blew it when out with a friend. Got in my walk but I ate back 80% of the calories and the carbs were through the roof. And I only ate ½ my dinner and brought the other half home for my son! I deserve every bit of this. My walk was 93 minutes. Feeling weak and unprepared. Uggg.
03/01 …..199.8 ….. Absolutely no excuses except for the fact that if I am not 100% perfect and on target with every single morsel on this low-carb plan, I gain. However, it does seem to be what is best for my T2D. I just get tired of the continuous "failures" at every turn of everyday life. I'm going to keep fighting.
03/02 …..201.6 ….. Emergency Unexpected Travel yesterday for me & my son. I arrived back last night. Diet plan & exercise out the window. I am only grateful that my scale number isn’t worse. However, I don’t like being back in the 200 club that I worked so hard to graduate from. I’ll be very mindful today.
03/03 …..201.6 ….. A very good day yesterday in walking and food until I ate the large bowl of cereal last night. I haven’t had a bowl of cereal in 2 years and I have to say, it was good. The cravings are horrendous after a lapse so I am trying hard to get through that. It had very little to do with hunger. We still have a ton of snow here so no outside activity. I sure wish there was a gym nearby but it’s Amish country here. Just farms and cabins. Thank goodness the school lets us old folks walk the hallways in the evenings! Last year we had snow through May. The largest blizzard being 10 inches of snow. In fact, it has been snowy until June for many years now. However, I am still hoping for a normal spring (by Easter) that lasts. I am sleeping again in the 4 hour range for the past few days. This is the norm for me but keeps me at a 20 hour waking window of eating. I am using IF for at least 12:12 right now but it's still a very long day without food. I continue to try careful planning. Last night after walking I did some more prep cooking.
03/04 …..200.8 ….. Yay! Finally a drop of almost a pound. A great day yesterday. I preplanned meals and got in a bit of walking at the school. I even got 6 hours & 5 minutes of sleep.
03/05 …..200.6 ….. Being Mindful. Walked at the school. Had 2 oldest grandsons over after school for dinner & dessert. I was at the high end of my cals & carbs, but I managed to stay just under. Still feeling strong.
03/06 …..200.3 ….. Clearly I won’t make goal to be less than the end of last round, but on a downward trend and feeling pretty strong lately. Rolling with it! Another good walk yesterday inside the school, 37 carbs, 1247 calories. Over 15,000 steps, Over 6 miles, Almost 2800 calories burned. Over 500 extra calories burned with exercise. Still sleeping in the 4 hour range for the past few nights which I know doesn’t help . Busy day today but I’ll be walking today for sure since the school is closed on the weekends. I hardly pee'd yesterday so I will be trying to drink more water today.

02/27 - 188.2 not feeling very well today, my supervisor yelled at me for no reason today for 45 minutes and it made me feel so bad about myself I got sick and threw up in our bathroom. I asked why he's cancelled all of our meetings for the past 6 months, because I was worried something was up, and he just like, transformed into a different person and yelled at me for implying he wasn't invested or interested in his "subordinates." He sent me a bunch of angry emails afterwards and I am freaking out trying to figure out how to move forward. I can't believe my one sentence question that I thought was pretty reasonable/innocent created such a hurricane of anger
02/28 - 187.6 still haven't responded to any emails, kind of worried my working relationship with this person is destroyed even though I really don't think I did anything wrong. At least my weight is down, which is nice, but it might just be from being so sick. Got sick again later today and threw up again. Broke keto so I could eat some crackers to try to settle my stomach
02/29 - 188 still very nauseated, still haven't responded to the emails. Trying to figure it out. Trying to focus on having a nice weekend but it's hard because I'm kind of terrified of work next week. Didn't exercise again today, feel too ill, but trying to stick to my diet as best as I can. I really want to break through this 188 barrier, I've been coasting here for months
03/01 - 190.5.. Not sure why my weight shot up overnight. Maybe it's an overreaction to keeping all my food down again. Finally started feeling better and got lots of exercise today building a fence, digging, laying cinderblocks, etc. Nervous to work again tomorrow
03/02 - 190.. slightly down, which is good, but I wish it were more down, I really don't want to end this challenge with a gain, especially a mystery gain. Was very good about my diet, did some exercise, and my boss apologized to me. I still feel bad about it and dont really trust our professional relationship, but it was nice that he did some reflection and gave me a heartfelt apology (via email... hahah). Hoping to be back down again tomorrow
03/03 - 187.9! Wow, super down. OK, at least the diet is working again Got a lot of exercise in today and did a good job of sticking to my diet. Got lots of work done too but got a huge migraine around 6PM that basically robbed my entire night. Missed dinner and spending time with my partner. These migraines have been more and more frequent, it's very frustrating.
03/04 - 188.4.. back up! This has been a bit of a roller coaster challenge for me hahah. Feeling nauseated again today, but my head feels good so so far so good. Doing well on my diet and at work today and I went to the gym for the first time this week. So I'm going to call today a win even though it's still early
03/05 - 187.2! The smallest number I've seen on a scale in years! Yeehaw! I'd like to keep up this momentum, I really want to break through the 188 barrier I've been stuck at for what feels like months now - correction, now that I've checked my logs, has been two months and one week! Going to be extra strict about my diet, really focus on getting my exercise in, and not let myself give in to temptation. I've been so happy with my progress that I've let myself cheat here and there, but it really adds up. I told myself it was okay because I wasn't really gaining weight, at least not more than a pound or two, but now seeing how I haven't really made progress in 2 months, I see that those cheats really do make a big impact.
03/06 - 188... womp womp. I was so excited to weigh in today, because I had a really powerful craving for McDonalds yesterday, and rather than give in, I made myself go home and make a healthy keto meal. But I am back up to my challenge start weight, so that is disappointing. I'm trying not to let this demotivate me from fighting off my cheat cravings, but it's hard. Easier to keep them at bay when the scale is moving in the right direction! I'm hoping this is just water retention or something, but who knows. I'm reassessing my calorie needs today and focusing on tracking more closely for now

02/28 – 169.2 – Added two new strength exercises to my gym routine today. Went to the local sushi place for lunch. Their dumpling soup is delicious but seems to have a day’s worth of sodium in it. Still, it was the perfect thing for a cold, windy day.
02/29 – 169.8 – No surprise, given that I was over on sodium and calories yesterday. Today was much better – enjoyed time with my grandsons and met all my goals!

02/27 | 134.0kg | -0.9kg | Still getting fed up with the daily fluctuations so I decided to try using the Happy Scale app to smooth those fluctuations. My actual weight today was 133.7kg but Happy Scale tells me that my moving average weight is 134.0kg so that feels like a more correct amount to me. I'll be putting the Happy Scale moving average weight as my measurement each day and see how that goes. I drank a lot of water yesterday, starting to think that's a key for me. I did eat some unhealthy foods but surprisingly it fit within my calorie limit - probably due to the smaller dinner size I had! Did 15 mins of walking, wanted to get on the stationary bike but my sister called so I was on the phone to her for a while and then it was too late to get started. Will aim for more movement again today and definitely keep up the water!
02/28 | 133.6kg | -0.4kg | Actual scale read 132.9kg - haven’t seen that number in a long time so glad to see the moving average coming down. Did 10 mins of walking and 20 mins on the bike so feeling good about that. Today we have the memorial for a friend who passed away in a tragic farm accident so I don’t expect to do any exercise or control my calories today. I know I should, but I think there are more important things today.
02/29 | DNW | Early start for a day trip with over 7 hours of driving plus shopping etc. so I forgot to jump on the scale when I got up at 4:30am!
03/01 | 133.5kg | -0.1kg | Actual scale read 133.7kg. Long, long day in the car yesterday but I didn’t eat a lot. Drank a couple of sugary drinks (frozen coke was amazing!) but drank a LOT of water so hopefully not too much water retention. My feet/ankles were very puffy when we got home last night so I was expecting a much higher read today. Glad I drank so much water, will keep that up today.
03/02 | 133.6kg | +0.1kg | Actual scale read 133.9kg. Trending upward, which I'm not surprised about. Like fmfdfa2020 I will focus on hitting my goals for the next 5 days - thanks for the inspiration!
03/03 | 133.7kg | +0.1kg | Actual scale read 134.2kg. Hectic day at work so I didn't even get a chance to post, letalone read through all the posts I've missed! I'll try to catch up over the next few days.

03/04 | 133.6kg | -0.1kg | Actual scale read 133.4kg. Another hectic day at work - barely left my desk all day and stayed back for an hour just to try to get on top of everything. Should be better after today, month-end should be completed (on time) and I should be back to normal! Getting some of these goals hit which is good, just need to find time to track everything!

03/05 | 133.5kg | -0.1kg | Actual scale read 133.2kg. Just had an average day yesterday. Wasn’t especially hungry most of the day and ate a smaller portion than I normally would for dinner so that was a win. No exercise though.

03/06 | 133.3kg | -0.2kg | Actual scale read 132.9kg. Stayed home from work with a headache yesterday. So not a lot of movement and most likely too many calories. I did stick with a smaller portion for dinner though, so that was a small win for me. That seems to be working for me, and I'm glad.

03/07 | 133.0 | -0.3kg | Actual scale read 132.6kg. Kind of busy day at work yesterday. Did some lunges and yoga for a challenge I’m in at the moment, but that’s all. Made homemade pizzas for dinner and ate far to much and drank a couple of beers. So I have no explanation for this dip but I don’t expect it to stick around!

Down 1.6kg for the round! Admittedly I did finish up at the end of the last round but I still would have a loss so I’m happy with that. I’m liking the Happy Scale app, making me feel better about these daily fluctuations.

02/29 59.3kg back below 60! Daughters birthday party today (birthday is in August!) but I'm not tempted to nibble.
03/01 59.55kg. I wasn't tempted by the party food but I did have wine later so this will probably bounce up tomorrow. Its a new month so I'm going to be back on the losing game and see where I can end up in 31 days.
03/02 60.15kg expected bounce. Now back to what I know works
03/03 60.0kg despite a heavy dinner. This looks promising. Public holiday here today so a nice lie in and gym later.
03/04 60.0kg...I'm getting there and gym was good
03/05 60.0kg...crazy amounts of exercise yesterday and calories under so I should get the benefit soon.
03/06 60.1kg. Surprised there was no drop but its OK. Means I'll have to strap on track at the weekend
03/07 59.85kg...finally back under 60kg. Yesterday I wasn't hungry at dinner so I didn't eat. Enjoying a day off from the gym.

02/27 133 – good start to the round, 13.2 miles walked yesterday, 640 calories in credit, all other macros well in green.
02/28 133.6 – child minding DGS yesterday, 2 hour journey each way so no structured walking, but chasing him around soft play for 2 hours is a work out !!!
02/29 133.6 – 8.75 miles walked (last 3.5 danced!) yesterday, all macros well in green.
03/01 133.6 – 7.88 miles walked yesterday, 182 calories in credit, 29 carbs over.
03/02 133 – 10 miles walked yesterday, delicious Sunday lunch out with DH & 4 of my siblings, meant that I was not hungry at tea time so just had a juicy pear. Calories 373 in credit & all macros well in credit.
03/03 133.4 – 10.64 miles walked yesterday, 476 calories in credit, all other macros in green. Not much chance of a walk today; Dad's funeral & it's raining .
03/04 134.4 – Dad had a good send off yesterday & it stopped raining before we left for church and stayed dry whilst we were at the cemetery and then all afternoon. Thank you all so much for your good wishes and kind comments, it means so much. I didn't log or count yesterday and barely did 5K steps, but felt I kept in control and didn't feel bloated or stuffed. Just couldn't sleep last night; only got 3 hours and of course I'm tired now !! Today is a new day and I'm back on the straight and narrow.
03/05 133.6 – 10.45 miles walked yesterday. 871 calories in credit, all macros well in green. A good day.
03/06 134.4 – no walking yesterday, spent day travelling up to and with DD and 2 adorable little Dgs, hence 198 calories, 52 carbs & 8 fat over macros, but SO worth it !!
03/07 133.6 - 9.77 miles walked, 584 calories in credit, all other macros in green. Ended the round exactly the same as the last, I suppose all things considered that's not bad. See you all in the next round.
