I haven't checked in for quite some time, but I have been reading! My schedule has been so crazy that I don't get a lot of time to respond to everyone. Im up at 5:30AM and don't get home till after 7PM 🙄.
I struggled for 2 months to work up the courage to leave the cardio grind and head to the weight section of my gym. 2 weeks ago I was finally able to wonder over there and do a few exercises. My goal was to just get comfortable in the space and using the equipment. But now, I am going to the gym 5 days a week and feeling the soreness of my changing body. 3 days are weight lifting and 2 days are cardio (I walk for an hour at an incline to get my heart rate up, but Id like to try 30 min HIIT workouts soon). Im finding that I really enjoy going to the gym! Its a weird feeling since I have always hatted the idea of leaving the house to go workout among other people.
I am still food prepping meals and planing on going to the gym during this crazy time. My health needs to be a priority. I know that if I make excuses, it will be so hard to get back into it again. I am the worst at procrastination and excuses. I am of course washing constantly and being careful, but I need to try and keep a sense of routine if I want to be successful. I need to hit my goals!9 -
Hi Ladies,
Today I'm starting my 30 day challenge!
SW 230 lb
Trying intermittent fasting 16/8
And doing Leslie Sansone's walking on utube (which I enjoy)
I've been suffering from plantar fasciitis for 18 months, I walked at a parkrun a couple of weeks ago and was in agony after for about a week. Finally took a course of ibuprofen and its helped so have been able to start indoor walking plan again. I'm turning 50 next June and just don't want to be carrying all this weight around anymore! I'm a single mum with a 16 year old son and want him to be proud of me!!9 -
Ended up on an emergency trip to take care of my mom and gained 10 pounds. UGH I was doing so good before this 2 weeks of chaos. I hope I can back on track. Hoping to figure out ways to stop emotionally eating when there.8

Social Distancing at the gym this morning...

I’m a happy “Proud Loser”❣️
Happy to report on my shopping trip (see outfit pictured), I am a Misses size 14 bottom and L top.
This time last year I was a Plus size 26/28 and a 3X/4X top.
What an amazing year❣️23 -
@pamiede IM SO SO HAPPY FOR YOU! YOU LOOK BEAUTIFUL!!2
-
Just starting new read👏🏽👏🏽

@ aliciap0116 hope you feel better soon
@Tarzan sorry about the bad neighbors. Sounds like it would be a good idea to make sure you have as much social distancing as possible from them. That is the thing about this. By keeping yourself safe you are keeping others safe and vice versa
@mmdeveau yes our decision about the gym was decided for us too. I had just read about how to make a good decision. The pool is safer if you can negotiate the locker room ok.
@CupcakeCrusoe I hope everyone in your house feels better soon.
@pamiede that is exciting to have lost during vacation! Good job! Nice outfit.
@Terytha yes scary
@torihudson6 I am so sorry about the kick boxing and it got me thinking about doing the same for the Y.
@BrownSugar174 Glad your gym is being responsible. I read a lot. I read 83 books last year. Good book, enjoy. I like legal mysteries.
@orangequilt happy that your weight is down to where you haven’t seen in so long. I am now at last October which was a low I hadn’t seen in quite a while but I hope to see soon more progress.
@shorepine good approach to dealing with these times. Today was my 1st day at home so I was curious about how it would go with having more food around and being home.
@AlexandraFindsHerself hope you are feeling better soon.
@shalane I remember when I was too busy to check in here as much as I wanted.
@changeforeverlj I like the idea the idea of Leslie Sansone youTube since my gym is closed.
@MyBeth1 It is so hard taking care of a parent. I am sorry about your Mom’s emergency. Hope all is better.
Well today was my 1st day working at home. I had a healthier breakfast than usual since we made a pot of our wonderful house blend. I spent some time setting things up (my husband set up a bigger screen for my lap top and helped me find a file crate), got through email. One of my coworkers younger than me said it was very quiet in the office. I made my tea and drank water all day. Had left over vegetable soup I made this weekend for lunch. Got the big Monday task done and took my afternoon break. It was late about an hour before "closing". Then on my way back to my computer I see a text from work. We have a storm line but they use it for other emergency type news or road closures. It said my work was shutting down. I got on my work email and we are shut down until the 31st. We will be paid until then but no promises afterwords. I was asking my husband what he thought about going to aquafit. He said the Y was closed. I was going to go for a walk if we didn't go to the Y but I need to have time to think through things. I am not surprised since I heard some talk about the possibility.
He told me when he stopped working (2 hours late) that where he work is only open for essential services and only employees can get in the building otherwise. Most were working from home anyway.
I think my calories were down for the day but again little exercise. I will figure out what to do at home tomorrow. I need to do some thinking (and praying) tonight and I plan to sleep in tomorrow morning then start my inforced vacation. I was making plans for working at home not for this so time to rethink.5 -

For sure. They have the attitude that they will party every weekend and it is their life and no one can tell them what to do. Luckily they have closed the bars and restaurants here as of this evening. Which will probably mean they just party next-door or at a friend's house. Super.
Well, my work place shut down this afternoon. We do not know when it will reopen. We will be paid through the end of this week, so no need to work from home. On Monday we can either go to work every fourth day or work from home, or work outside more if we'd like. We'll see how those guidelines change going forward. I made a pretty good to-do list in my head as I was walking my pup for over an hour this afternoon. Things like cleaning the basement and organizing it, getting things together for Goodwill, reading the new book I just started recently, etc. I will look at the next 6 days as a staycation and try to also get good sleep, drink plenty of water, and take Emergen-C daily.
Oh, and today is my birthday. Definitely a memorable one. I'm just praying we all stay safe and healthy - all of us - in the days and weeks to come!8 -
@Tarzan37 Happy birthday!!!
@bluffgirl67 I’m so sorry to hear about your mum. Sending lots of love and strength your way.
To everyone else, I’m sorry to hear about how everyone is facing/dealing with the COVID pandemic. It’s hit hard everywhere. I’ve a family of 6 kids plus my husband and myself and trying to get in to do a regular shop here is awful as people throw daggers with their eyes at us. We aren’t panic buying just trying to do a normal fortnightly shop to feed our family. We have however had to stock up on nappies and formula as we have 15 month old twins and a 5 month old baby and it’s getting a little hard to find these particular ítems. Quite a bit of panic has set in over here but there’s been no closures or lockdowns just a whole heap of cancellations of events. Really hoping everything goes back to normal soon.
Sunday was my weigh in but we’ve been seriously busy looking for a new car as one of ours got caught up in the floods that happened not long ago and it’s been written off. We purchased a Toyota Land Cruiser on Sunday so that took my mind off recording it here on MFP.
Stats are as follows
OSW 101.3kg (223.3lbs) 26 Jan 20
March SW 95.5kg (209.6lbs)
CW 93.7kg (206.5lbs)
Wasn’t expecting a loss this week due to TOM but I did manage a 600gram (1.3lbs) loss.6 -
Happy birthday @Tarzan37!3
-
@pamiede CONGRATULATIONS! Also, you look absolutely fabulous. I love your style.
@Tarzan37 so sorry that this mess is happening, and on your birthday of all days. Happy birthday.
@Terytha these are definitely scary times, but we'll get through it
@torihudson6 you definitely won't gain it all back if you're taking a break from kickboxing. Weight loss is made in the kitchen, after all
@BrownSugar174 Oooh, I've been meaning to read that book! Let me know how it is!
@orangequilt *high fives*
@shorepine Taking a facebook break is definitely a wonderful thing. I've been on a facebook break for a year now, no regrets. I also have a problem with eating my feelings, and it's going to be hard.
@AlexandraFindsHerself1971 Feel better soon!
@shalanne so happy to hear that lifting is working out for you!
@changeforeverlj You're in the right place.
@MyBeth1 I know, emotional eating is such a hard habit to break! But you can do it.
@KeriA Sounds like a great day of food, even if your day was stressful.
@svm569 hey, new car! Yay!
Y'all, I just mindlessly ate the entire rest of my almond butter (it covered the bottom) because I'm so stressed out. I should be at home teleworking, but instead work is being dumb. Hopefully they call it soon, because I hate thissssssssssssssssss. Anyway. On, to more positive things!
I'm going running today, so there's a chance I can make up for that almond butter and still eat all my planned food for today. I'm planning on making some red potato-zucchini-goat cheese-bacon hash for dinner. Should be good.
Stay safe and well, everyone!7 -
I'm new here so I'm a little late, but I feel like I will need this as my gym just closed down!
A little about me. I started my weightloss journey a few years ago. I started at 334lbs and in 2 years I had lost 100 lbs! But then I let my focus slip. My grandma had just passed and I went though a break up. And I never really got back in the wagon after that. So I put back most of the weight. Once my scale got back up to 300 I knew I had to start again. And I was doing great on my own for a while. Until I just kept losing and gaining the same 10lbs over and over again... Yet not changing anything. So I finally buckled down, joined a gym (which just closed! 😭) and re downloaded this app. So here I am! And I hope to find a few friends to help keep me accountable and encourage me on the way!
SW (since downloading this app): 287lbs
CW: 281.8lbs
GW (for end of March) 275lbs
Wish me luck!11 -
@nels5850 Welcome to the group and our lifestyle journey! You can do this.!!👍🏽🥰8

Darn it! I WANT SOME!!8 -
I did my old walk this morning. I found that I can actually do it faster because of the treadmill at my gym! I'll take that win! Hopefully I don't slow back down before the 1st!9

But, I managed to stay at a maintenance amount and didn't gain any weight so that's a plus. Getting back on track this week.
My goals this month are figuring out how to continue to go out with friends and family to dinner, bar, bowling, etc., and still continue to lose weight. The summer months are coming too and we have our first camping trip the first weekend of April and I struggle not gaining weight while camping too so need to work on both of these.
Starting Weight on Jan 1: 278.4
Current Weight: 265.6
Goal by Mar 31: 260
Final GW: Not sure.. 199 for now, which is where my lowest was 8 years ago
Hey everyone. Hope everyone is surviving this madness. I'm finding it challenging to meal prep and eat healthy foods right now with the limitations at the grocery stores here. Im having to plan my week of food prep while at the store after seeing whats available.
On a plus note, still continuing my loss. Down to 263 today9 -

The other plus is now we don't have the temptation of going out to eat 😂6 -
Feeling better now that I am home and able to stay on track. Found some new recipes and even my hubby wants to try them. Let's see what happens7
-
My gym is officially closed. Looks like its cardio at home for the foreseeable future. Also my class for tomorrow was cancelled.
Sigh.
I just want to eat everything. Its probably OK to go a little closer to maintenance don't you think? But I really want to lose weight. I don't know what to do.8 -

I get this feeling. Whatever you choose to do is okay. This won't be forever. Just take care of yourself for now, whatever that looks like.5 -
@CupcakeCrusoe and @KeriA this book has been an edge of your seat page turner from the first sentence!!

@Pamiede, wow you are inspirational! Well done, you should be so proud of yourself! You look fabulous !3

Im putting this on my list as well haha3 -
I was so excited and encouraged to open my fitness pal and have replies!! I'm sure you are all feeling the effects of Covid-19! I'm from South Africa and it really just hit us, however, the government is clamping down fast! Schools are shut and gatherings banned, I've washed my hands so much they burn! We mustn't let fear lead us! We can still be kind and help those around us who need it! So I'm using this time to reflect and be disciplined! Day 2 was successful!
@BrownSugar174 I will definitely look out for that book!
@nels5850 Good luck! I've also just returned, I feel like I've been losing the same 50lbs over and over again!8 -

Aloha everyone! Glad to find this group! Keep working even if there are obstacles (covid-19) in our path! You can do it! 🙌🏾☺️6

@Tarzan You only have a week of office closed and you are already more organized than me. Happy birthday! I didn’t see this until today so I guess it is belated birthdays but I think you should take the whole week to celebrate.
@svm569 sorry about the looks for getting supplies you need. Great progress.
@CupcakeCrusoe I can totally see mindlessly eating up the last of any nut butter. We bought almond butter too but haven’t opened it. The run and hash sound good! I miss my interval runs. Your advice to Terytha is right on and applies to all of us.
@nels5850 Welcome and sorry about your gym. I hope they open soon with some ground rules to allow for social distancing and cleaning often. I need a pool. Good for you for turning it around at 300. I gained back the 40 pounds I lost on here and am slowly making progress turning it around.
@TuesdayLucero That is just sad to have to meal plan at the store. We were able to find everything but we in the end went to more than 4 stores. We probably were exposed so I don’t really see the point. Great progress!
@MyBeth great positive attitude!
@Terytha I was thinking about all of us in this situation and wondered if eating at maintenance isn’t wise since we are all trying to keep from getting sick. Maybe some of us need to just go slower but then that is what I seem to be doing now anyway.
@changeforeverlj So nice to hear your country acted fast.
67 years old, Height: 5'6"
SW: 266 lbs
3/1: 261.8 lbs
3/15: 260.4
CW: 260
GW: Onderland 1st, maintain for a few weeks then 150 lbs.
March Goal weight get to 255
My March Weekly Goals are:
1. Continue to go to Aquafit 3 times a week Can’t do that!
2. Continue to Improve my weekday breakfasts Really am doing this now that I don’t go to Starbucks anymore since I am staying home!
3. Log weight, food and exercise I am doing this much better.
4. Get into the mid 250s this means my highs and lows get and stay below 260 I’m at 260 now and my highs are so much lower. The lows are harder to move.
5. Make progress adding in exercise on days I don’t go to aquafit Hmm! I am going to make a plan for at home exercise for the rest of the month today. I need to modify this goal.
6. Make healthy foods at home I am so doing this.
7. Get enough sleep and improve water intake I am so doing this.
8. Check out this thread more often I am so doing this.

Life has been crazy (as I'm sure it is for all of us right now!) and I realized I missed updating for my weigh-in Monday yesterday! I am a teacher and a mom, so not only am I dealing with my kids being off school indefinitely and having to do online learning, I'm also dealing with creating online lessons and still educating my students. It's super stressful times, but luckily I haven't been turning to food. If anything, over the last week I have not been eating enough. For me, it's so hard to have an appetite with all the stress. Of course, because of this I had a good loss this last week, so there's some positivity!! Anyways, hope everyone is handling this well. Here's my stats:
SW (1/6/2020): 260.4
1/31: 244.8 (-15.6)
3/1: 237.3 (-23.1)
3/9: 235.7 (-24.7)
3/16: 232.9 (-27.5)
So I have officially lost 10% of my starting weight! My goal for March is 227.3, it seems doable but also because after tomorrow I'll be working from home that makes another challenge. I like my routine at school and I'm good at staying on track when I'm away from home and the refrigerator. Many grocery stores around me are getting cleaned out of produce, so I hope that I can still be as successful if I'm not getting as many fruits & veggies.
I hope everyone has a great week!7 -
Well it looks as if there are some big effects of this Covid 19 situation for my goals. Some bad but some good. The bad ones I can adjust to but then today I got up and stepped wrong on my knee. The pain was only passing but that is why I do Aquafit. However there was some real progress made on other fronts and food is really most of the equation in weight loss. I am going to look at this in a way in which I don't just look at exercise but also NEAT (Non-exercise activity thermogenesis) I plan to do more cooking & cleaning at home that I didn't have time for when I worked and commuted. Maybe even gardening. I did this at work as much as possible such as parking further away, taking the stairs, getting up and moving at breaks etc. So I need to do this more at home. More on this later after planning today but for now here are my modified goals:
My March Weekly Goals are:
2. Continue to Improve my weekday breakfasts
3. Log weight, food and exercise and eat under calorie goal.
4. Get closer to the mid 250s this means my highs and lows get and stay below 260
5. Get some exercise and up NEAT at least 6 days a week.
6. Make healthy foods at home.
7. Get enough sleep and improve water intake.
8. Check out this thread daily.7
