I talked about my experience as an IC nurse in an earlier post. However I have realized today that I’m happier. Not because there is a pandemic and it is threatening people’s lives, but because I have seen so many people pull together and get things done. I have seen so many people finally take Infection prevention seriously. I was having serious doubts about humanity before this and now I have faith in humanity again. There are some amazing people in this world!!!!!
Also I have had people who have multiple kids doing multiple sports on any given normal day actually get to connect as a family and sit down to dinner together and go for walks and actually spend time. I think we have changed the trigectory of our lives in many good ways. I hope some of this sticks.4 -

Crime.
Crime isn't going away, but how does law enforcement handle criminals during this time?
How will the courts respond? What will be the backlog?
This thing sure has a wide ripple effect, amiright?2 -
Because I have had difficulty obtaining a loaf of bread, I have learnt to bake it from scratch. Guess what?!? It gets even better than that, I'm learning to bake other things as well from scratch. My grandmother survived the Great Depression, baked everything from scratch and as an elderly lady baked her pies and cookies and cakes from scratch without the internet or even a paper recipe to look at. She just had it up in her beautiful brain how to bake a cake or to make fudge. Yes, silver lining is that I'm learning to bake different things! And even my husband complimented my bread yesterday and he is so damned picky, so I am proud of this.
Adding: I am using recipes because otherwise, I'd have no clue.7 -

they've already started announcing releases of "low level" inmates from a few places around the country, including here.
plus the sheriff's office has already stated they're not going to be sending officers out to check on, let's see:
Misdemeanor Theft
Harassment
Lost Property
Family Disciplinary Actions
Other non-emergency calls which can be resolved over the phone
and the courthouse has announced a halt of all jury trials as well for the time being, which me being *not* a lawyer wonders, if someone won't be able to use that as a motion to dismiss or something based on not receiving a speedy trial.
of course, Texas being Texas, I feel confident that there will indeed be people trying to get away with more crime against other people knowing the law won't be coming, at least not immediately. i also feel confident that some folks aren't gonna take such things lying down either.3 -
I see a silver lining in that I am "practicing weaning off considering work my main social contact network" by working at home.
I brand it as "Retirement mentality prep."
I will be retiring in only 4 years (if I don't win the lottery first)2 -
