Hi everyone! Things are going well.
@MissMay I love really good wine and I am in a wine club. But, I live really close to wine country and there are a lot of wonderful small family-owned wineries. My wine club is with a winery very close to me, and I just get two bottles every 4 months of some really good wine. I've gotten to know the winemakers, toured the vineyards, and I value that connection.
I did end up getting my money back from the canceled hotel, and I did end up splurging on a case of wine from them. They are a small business that has been struggling since their tasting room was forced to close due to the quarantine requirements. I want to get to the place where I really savor my wine, that's what I'm working on. I'm excited to get my case and work on being mindful.
In other news I have managed to somehow not drink anything the last 3 nights, which has been tough because I've been really stressed out like everyone else. I have unfortunately found myself binging on sweets instead though. I need to figure out how not to have that happen. My goal for today is no alcohol AND no sweets.

Virtual pub tonight. About 15 of us on zoom. I needed that.
19/20 AF8 -
@shorepine now 2 bottles per order is more sensible.
He received 15 bottles the last shipment. We do not have an army over for wine tasting, nor do I ever drink wine ( sorry wine folks just not my thing). Anyhoo..... as long as I don't have to give up food space to store the darn stuff I won't complain too much. Nice job this mindful month.

@helen_goldthorpe That sounds like a nice way to enjoy a drink, especially under the circumstances.3

Hit a wall today. Feel exhausted. I still went for a walk after work and have a virtual Zumba class tomorrow morning. Hoping for some endorphins.
I got some David’s tea and have been enjoying that. Hope you have all been doing well.

@shorepine I emphasize. It's hard. I'm 13 days without alcohol and proud of the streak so far but I am eating sugar, too much sugar. One thing at a time, one day at a time. I'll get the sugar under control too, soon. Don't beat yourself up over it, I know easier said than done.

Still at 18 out of 20 days. Used up my second allowed "drinking pass" last night. No passes left for March. That's a good thing....!

I do NOT emphasize. I empathize. LMAO! I guess I could emphasize, though. Oh my gosh 🤣🤣🤣! Typo autocorrect 🧐🤪🤦!4
-
@LoveyChar haha! I didn't even notice the mistake until you pointed it out, my brain read it as you intended. Yeah, the sugar thing is rough. Last night I successfully avoided both alcohol and sugar, but I snacked like a wild banshee on crackers before dinner so by the time alcohol or sweets were a temptation, I was way too full to even consider either.
@MissMay 15 bottles is crazy! That is way too much wine unless you're entertaining all the time. Glad he canceled.
I'm proud of myself for having 4 AF nights in a row now. The stress of everything right now has me wanting to drink. My case of fancy wine arrived yesterday and I enjoyed filling my wine rack. I thought about opening a bottle but thought about my commitment to savor it. I'll wait for a time when I can have some friends over to share it with.

Day 19 AF done! Goal is to be AF thru month end. It's good for me. Alcohol causes depression and anxiety once it wears off and it lowers the immune system. Really don't need these extra problems!
If there's ever a time to step up and be strong, it's now....

Hello all!
Ugh, I’m doing terribly this month. Totally off my “drink one/day only on weekends” plan. Drinking almost every day. My skin looks terrible the next day. Part of it is an old habit, part of it is either stress relief of caring for my husband post surgery, or “celebration “ of getting things organized in the house.
How can a year of getting this under control (vacations excepted) be blown out the window- and this started before the Coronavirus restrictions in my area!
Sigh.12 -
Hey everyone! This is definitely a time where stress and boredom can become factors in our eating and alcohol consuming patterns. I had really good resolve for a few days there. But yesterday I woke up thinking about drinking and cracked a bottle of wine by the time Saturday night rolled in. However!! I only had one glass then I did a late night workout! So all was not lost. Feels good seeing those long stretches of AF days!

Exercise definitely helped my mood yesterday. Did a strength training workout this mornjng. While good for me, I feel that I need some cardio or a long walk each day to help keep my mood elevated.
Hope you are all doing well.

Sunday March 22- AF - Glad to have a motivator to make me AF for at least a couple of days - I have a telephone job interview Tuesday morning at 7am, so I want to be as fresh as possible. Not a great paying job, but there are benefits and stock options which is more important to me at this stage. Garden Centre for Home Depot here in town. Inching toward that 16-20 AF days for the month.

Sigh.
Yes, I drank 5 days in a row and slid right into it so easily. I haven't been going anywhere where there are people, just hiking every day and I probably look raggedy too.4 -
Monday Monday...
Getting pretty close to the end of March ( the longest fricken month of my entire life thus far, where an hour of the day seems like a week)
So far, I have done really well. I am not even sure how to caculate my drinking over the weekend. Both Saturday and Sunday I had exactly 4 ounces of beer. Woooooooo big party girl here. I knew there was no way I would drink more than that. Not a beer drinker by choice.
Also, my husband who is a very heavy drinker. Has been very controlled. Not being able to go to bars for him in the past was a huge punishment. I thought for sure with having to stay home he would be heavily heavily hitting the bottles. But he has not gone to excess. Pleases me beyond words to have him being mindful. 🙂
Positive thoughts go out to all of you still checking in and posting. Thanks so much for your support.7 -
AF yesterday! Yay me! One whole day in a row! Haha!
Got some delicious Italian take-out last night. I love simultaneously supporting a local restaurant and not having to cook. My weight has been another story though. It’s definitely creeping up without vigorous exercise. Eating delicious homemade pasta and bread. definitely doesn’t help!I really miss playing tennis.6 -
20 AF/22. Super critical for me to get out the door and double up on my activity before I check in on the latest daily news. Days like these I wish I lived on a 10+ acre farm in Idaho, near a river where I can catch my own trout. I'd have a vegetable garden, some chickens and baby goats.
@dawnbgethealthy, good luck with the job opportunity. Sounds like a good one...!

@Womona I was terrified to even check the comments here, because I am exactly in your boat. I have done terrible. I find if I go outside for a long walk with the family, I do better, but I still drink.
As extroverted as I am, I have no problem staying home and following directions of the Governor and CDC. I am hoping to read more, play with the kids and do as many learning things with them as possible. We shall get through this. Just need to make sure I don't completely fall back into my old habits.6 -
I fell off the AF bandwagon this last week. The last 6 days have almost pushed me to the edge of a nervous breakdown. I was averaging 15-18hr work days dealing with cruise ships trying to debark passengers. I was sensible though only having a glass or 2 of wine. I’m currently sitting at 13/23 AF days this month.8
-
Mar 21: one glass red wine
Mar 22: one glass of red wine
And the bottle is gone! Definitely considered cracking open another wine last night. But didn’t! I actually did a tae bo workout after my glass of wine. And went to bed early. Lol woo!!! Will still be trying to avoid alcohol completely for the rest of the month. Once you start it’s a slippery slope! Proud of everyone who is still posting in this group! It’s a stressful time so don’t give up!!! Only a week left in March now! Let’s finish strong!6 -
Well, I was doing so well considering how crazy everything is right now, but then on Saturday had a bit of a binge drinking episode. We have a family we are still socializing with, they have kids the same ages as ours and have also agreed not to socialize with anyone else. They came over to our place with their camper Saturday night and my friend and I got into my fancy wine- sharing a bottle of sparkling rose. Then after that was over, around the campfire I had 3 vodka sodas over the course of the evening. I guess I needed the release and it was the only socialization I'd had in a while. I woke up yesterday feeling awful, both from the alcohol and from the alcohol-induced ice cream eating binge that happened. I am not going to let this happen again! Managed an AF day yesterday and planning to have a few more in a row before I even look at that wine rack again.
@globalhiker I live on a 14 acre farm in a rural area of Oregon, and let me tell you I'm not sad about my life decisions right now. I have horses and no goats, but I'm thinking of getting a few additional animals this spring like maybe a cow or two. Also I bet my garden is going to be off the hook this year.

Thank you! In person interviews were not an option right now, so at least I don't have to dress up for a telephone interview : - )5 -

I live 35 minutes from the Idaho border, the top slim bit. My best friend lives in Idaho, but who knows when we are going to get to see each other again with the country borders closed to everything but trade.
There aren't any gardens growing in this area just yet : - )
I will see if I can figure out how to attach a photo of where I live...
(That is 50km per hour btw)
Not gardening time quite yet : - )
And a selfie thrown in just for fun.
