Less Alcohol - MARCH 2020 - One Day at a Time
Replies
-
Whoa........ another Monday, in fact the last Monday of this Month.
My accountability for this Month is at day 29, I am 27 day alcohol free. My plan is to be AF today and tomorrow as well. Sticking to a goal is a plan, which is an accomplishment. Helps to fill these long days of off kilter schedules to see my goal come true.
My personal observation only
Be well and make one small little goal today....any goal you want.

As usual, I am going to try for 16-20 AF days for the month.
I had 18 AF days for January
I had a surprising (and record setting for me) 21AF days for the short month of February!
Sunday March 01 - AF - The month kind of came in like a lamb out West.
Monday March 02 - AF -
Tuesday March 03 - AF - It is my designated drink day, and I felt like having drinks but decided not to today.
Wednesday March 04 - AF
Thursday March 05 - 3 drinks
Friday March 06 - AF - Felt like having a few drinks, but didn't because of my recent 2AF days in a row rule.
Saturday March 07 - 3 drinks
Sunday March 08 - AF
Monday March 09 - AF - Going to be AF for at least a few days, I have lots going on this week.
Tuesday March 10 - AF - Stressful work day, my usual drinks day, maybe later in the week.
Wednesday March 11 - AF - Early morning tomorrow, so no drinks tonight.
Thursday March 12 - AF -
Friday March 13 - 3 drinks
Saturday March 14 - AF.
Sunday March 15 - Drinks.
Monday March 16 - AF
Tuesday March 17 - 2 drinks.
Wednesday March 18 - 3 drinks - my post is getting a bit long, I will delete some of it...
Thursday March 19 - 3 drinks. I was just being self-indulgent. Time to rack up more AF days soon.
Friday March 20 - 3 drinks. Self indulgence continues.
Saturday March 21 - 3 drinks. Just about ready to get back on the AF bandwagon although I am not sure really why. At least for a couple of days.
Sunday March 22- AF - Glad to have a motivator to make me AF for at least a couple of days - I have a telephone job interview Tuesday morning at 7am, so I want to be as fresh as possible. Not a great paying job, but there are benefits and stock options which is more important to me at this stage. Garden Centre for Home Depot here in town. Inching toward that 16-20 AF days for the month.
Monday March 23 - AF - Lots of fresh air today, early to bed and getting up very early to be awake and functioning for my 7am telephone interview (thinking that it must be someone in the East to whom that is 9am). I will Zumba first to get some oxygen to my brain : - )
Tuesday March 24 - 3 drinks, hours ago. I was up at 4am to prepare for the phone interview. It went great. So many posts here that have touched my heart.
Wednesday March 25 - AF - Really felt like having drinks, but need to get back to that spacing of at least 2 days AF in between.
Thursday March 26 - AF - Slid to that 16th day somehow. 5 drinks days in a row this month, I haven't done that in so long. These are not normal times, I have definitely cut myself some slack.
Friday March 27 - 3 drinks - Not planned.
Saturday March 28 - AF - That was not easy.
Sunday March 29 - 2 1/2 drinks (last half is in the freezer lol). Again not planned, and missed my 2 AF in a row. AF tomorrow for sure!
Monday March 30 - AF
18 AF days out of 30 days7 -
I typed up a post a couple of days ago and then poof..it disappeared before I posted. Kept meaning to come back to it and never did.
So...long story short 😂
13/30 days AF
Not my best month but I am proud of each one of those AF days11 -
@MissMay I like "sticking to a goal is a plan, which is an accomplishment." Nice job on your accomplishments...
Nice job to everyone here! I am 8 days alcohol free and my goal for April is to be completely alcohol free. My Marathon has not yet been cancelled so I'm still training for it and that's less than 10 weeks away now.8 -
It is hard for me. Seems like I tried to curb my anxiety with food. Now,I reach for alcohol. I am just so mentally uptight, so many worries used to be I could go for a hike and feel freed and liberated. Now I just feel stressed and anxious all the time. Especially working in the health sector. I guess I stress ate, now I stress drink. At least 2 large glasses of wine or 3 cc and coke. I don't know what is the lesser evil. I just logged almost 400 calories in booze. ugh9

Hello and welcome @tufntender. We are here to listen and support the hard times your having. Nothing seems easy any longer. Like trying go for a simple walk or hike actually takes a thought process. A good beginning is that you realized the over abundance of empty calories from the alcohol. And that is a great start. We hope you will follow us over onto our April thread
Beginning tomorrow....and that is NO FOOLS.

Another AF tally for @dawnbgethealthy, really close to your high end monthly goal.👍
@anglilacs I have that happen to me all the time with losing posts I am composing. Extremely maddening. That is basically a week k worth of AF days you have going this month. Awesome job!
@LoveyChar something for you to plan and look forward to, another marathon. I certainly hope it keeps on schedule. Training is a good way to keep your mind active.
Where is @whitpauly?? I am stealing your phrase today woman....."ANOTHER 24 AF" for this girl.
28AF/30
😊 Smile today everyone, even if no one is around to see it.5 -
Another reason to be AF alcohol reduces bodies immunity levels increased suseptibility to the virus
2 of the 3 local liquor stores have closed majority of the day, workers weren’t available anymore remaining store can have lines halfway around the block since only 2 customers at a time allowed in3 -
28 AF days/30 days. I feel OK until my husband comes home from work. Then life is tense from about 6-9 every night. He shows up like a stress bomb and I'm absorbing his stress. And he is drinking more, in front of me, and many of you know what that is like.
He supports technology for police and fire so he's mandated to go into work, which carries risk for us. Most of his co-workers with kids are home, so he is picking up their work too. And he's got a lot going on, being on Covid emergency teams and such.
So I am in control of me and how I react to my world. Goal today is to find my rose-colored glasses, put them on, get my butt out the door and move. Look for butterflies and hummingbirds. Leave a random nice note for husband, letting him know I love him. And practice deep breathing more often. It's all I can think of....8 -

I always thought that the alcohol killed any germs or viruses 😆 I never got sick when I drank daily, yes on the anxiety drinkin! That's what I did last week and it was only 10× worse once I sobered up! Hit me like a ton of bricks all at once so no I'll handle my stress another way,7:01 am in Vegas another 24,wishes for a happy, healthy day for us all!💗5 -
Oh and bring on April!!2

Checking in on the last day of the month... happy we all survived what has undoubtedly been the craziest March on record and April is shaping up the same. So sorry to @whitpauly and @MissMay on the job front that’s so tough with everything going on right now - stay strong and virtual hugs to you both.
We are doing ok here in St Louis. My job can be done from home and my husbands teaching has moved to fully online for the rest of the semester. My kids have a stellar attitude about the lockdown, aside from early disbelief and disappointment about the initial cancellations of events they were looking forward to. We are navigating home school and cabin fever and stubborn elderly father in law who doesn’t take the social distancing seriously. My sister happened to be coming to help with the kids for spring break right as this whole lockdown was starting, and has decided to just stay for a while so we’ve been really fortunate to have an extra set of hands. It’s been good for her as well as she lives alone and may have really struggled with the isolation.
We’ve tried to make the best of the situation with daily family walks and more cooking/baking than ever before, board games and movies and things like that. On the alcohol front, it hasn’t been perfect but I’ve managed a few more AF days in this crazy second half of the month so I finished with 13 AF days/31. Could have been a lot worse.
See you all in April!7 -

Hey everybody. I've been MIA for over a week, but still keeping track. I'm checking in with my March totals. I had 22 Alcohol Free days in March. My goal was to simply have more AF days than days where I drank, which I accomplished, although I was supposed to be on a tropical vacation for almost 2 weeks. The vacation didn't happen, and I've struggled with cravings for drinking. Two of the drinking days I've had in quarantine I went way overboard, which is concerning, although I haven't had many of them.
Anyway, I'm moving on over to April! See you there.
Mar 1: AF
Mar 2: AF
Mar 3: AF
Mar 4: AF
Mar 5: AF
