03/28 250.4 I didn’t have much yesterday for breakfast, so I treated myself to some frozen yogurt. I also went grocery shopping and managed to find food! I was so happy to find some real food and almost stocked shelves for the first time in a few weeks.
03/29 251.2 No hugs needed! I was under calorie yesterday, but had all the carbs, nearly double what I usually eat. For some reason my appetite was still a little off in the morning and I treated myself just a little in the afternoon and evening. It was a very nice day and I learned that these days I’m happy with a happy meal.
03/30 251.4 The carb bounce always takes a couple of days to go. I finally got a good night sleep last night after a couple of days of either not sleeping or using sleeping pills.
03/31 250.6 There we go back down and hopefully some more losses in days to come.
04/01 250.8 Hmm, this week is now trending closer to my trend during ovulation than last weeks trend. With perimenopause who knows when what is happening anymore. It’s okay though I know that I’m eating within my calorie goals and I just have to wait out the water. On the plus side while at Walmart I picked up some new clothes because my light pants won’t stay up and it’s too warm for sweatpants. I had to get both a 20 and 22 because dressing rooms were closed and the 20s fit, just barely, so I’m keeping both so that I have something to wear while I lose a little more to fit comfortably into the 20s. It won’t be long and I’m just so thrilled that it I can find pants with ease.
04/02 250.0 Well my weight finally matches my drivers license. I’m at also at the lowest I’ve been in over 20 years.
04/03 249.6 I was hopeful of seeing this number yesterday during my “official” weigh in, but that’s okay I’m happy that I get to type that four now. By staying the course I’ll get to show it off next week.
04/04 247.8 I’ll see what tomorrow brings because I’m worried this is a false low. However, I am very on track so who knows, I guess I’ll see tomorrow.

03/28 - 356.0 - I conducted a little experiment. I live near Philly, where we are known for our cheesesteaks. Lots of shredded meat, cheese, some fried onions and mushrooms, all slapped on a roll. So I bought one yesterday. But while I ate it, I also drank my ACV drink. I wanted to see if the ACV would affect my insulin and fat storage. Now I admit I don't quite understand the biomechanics well, but my calorie intake for yesterday was only 300 under my daily normal intake. But my weight loss was 1.4 lbs. I don't want to do this too often, but when I did our weekly shopping (the ONLY time I am around anyone during this quarantine), mom asked for donuts from our Amish farmer's market. Imagine pie filling (apple, strawberry, etc.) injected into a dough roll. One for mom, one for me. I'll be trying the ACV before eating mine. But I have been using the ACV before I eat my processed carbs and it seems to decrease/affect my insulin and weight loss for the positive. Anecdotal experiment, I know.
03/29 - 356.3 - That'll teach me for eating finger food for dinner. Egg rolls, taquitos and potstickers. WAY overdid it. Very tasty, though.
03/30 - 356.3 - No change... and weird. My calories were short by almost 700 yet no move down. Now I'm confused. I'll just stay the course and hope it corrects in the next few days.
03/31 - 356.1 - Slight downtick. I'm wondering if this is my first plateau. If so, I don't like it. I want to move down. Just kidding. I stopped my ACV for a couple of days and suddenly I've stopped. I've got to simply stick with what has worked and not play around with it. On a good note for substituting foods, I picked up some cauliflower crust pizzas to replace the standard flour and water. Still take Mom for an early morning walk and then my own walk. And two of the last three days I'm adding a kettelbell workout in. Slow, small steps are what get us there. Not dramatic changes that we can't sustain. My opinion. Everyone stay safe!
04/01 - 355.5 - Stumbled across a YouTube video yesterday talking about taking cold showers. I thought it was an early April Fool's joke, but after watching it and the links to others, I saw several important health benefits to it. Two that I think could help most of us on this site. First, cold showers help with weight loss. Apparently, by forcing the body temp lower, it causes us to shiver, which burns fat. Now, they say it only burns UP TO 9 lbs. a year, but every little bit helps. Second, where a hot shower opens the pores and allows things into the skin that don't belong. Cold showers close the pores and prevent impurities in. What impurities? How about those things like bacteria that cause pimples, sores, etc. So, I tried it. I started with a luke warm shower and gradually made it colder and colder. Refreshing, and not as difficult as you might think.
04/02 - 355.8 - another minor uptick. Meh... I'm doing my early morning walk, but having trouble motivating myself to start lifting weights again.
04/03 - 355.5 - another small drop, back to Wednesday. But it was very windy this morning so I didn't go out for my walk.
04/04 - 355.5 - I'm either stuck or my scale needs to have the batteries changed. There's no way I stay virtually the same for this long... unless I really have hit a plateau. It's ok if I have, just bummed because it's right before I hit the 50 lb. loss mark. I know... stay the course. Just frustrating.

03/27 …..203.8….. ENDING WEIGHT LAST ROUND
03/28 …..203.5 …..
03/29 …..203.5 …..
03/30 …..203.5 …..
03/31 …..203.5 ….. 04/01 …..203.2 ….. I pre-logged yesterday to have a blueprint to follow since my discipline has been pretty bad. I did go back and change it up a bit choosing some not as healthy over more of the healthy choices, but overall, I stayed within my overall goals pretty well. Today, I will try to stick to the healthier choices. The sugar-free ice cream bars are all gone now. Down 0.3 so I am feeling pretty good about that.
04/02 …..203.2 ….. Under cals but carbs a little higher than I’d hoped for. I over-reacted to a sugar drop and fast hunger. I handled it so-so.
04/03 …..203.1 ….. Finally, no severe glucose drop last night (after 3 of them this week). Sadly, I know why. It was the sugar I ate. I did very very very well all day until about 1:00 a.m. when I had a sugary (and unnecessary) snack that I shouldn’t have had. Otherwise, I KNOW the scale would have reflected an even bigger loss. However, anything is better than nothing! So far today, a great day again. However, it’s a challenge getting enough movement in. Paying bills today online for the business so a lot of sitting. Trying to get up every hour, get some steps in, burn more than what I’ll be eating. It is beautiful here today in Michigan. Sad because our Governor said in her conference yesterday that our shut-in will probably be extended beyond the current April 13th date. Thinking of you all……
04/04 …..203.1 ….. More of the same. I did very well yesterday but another late night snack due to cravings, not glucose drops. No gain, but it is definitely stopping my losses. Come on Donna! Get your butt together! Glucose is way too high this morning due to late night madness!

Round 109 - March 28 to April 6
Female, 5’, 67 years. SW – 165.6 (this is a blip up), GW – 163 something, UGW – 140.
Goals: continue with 12 hr. IF, complete my tracking every day and get some kind of outdoor exercise unless it is raining. That could be spring yard work or walking. 3x a week – either gym exercises I can do at home or other (like fitness video). Reminded again by my weight at the beginning of this round that I must get in the movement.
Day/Weight/Comment
03/28 – 165.6 – Couldn’t believe this at first as I’ve been 163/164 for most of the last round. Then I thought about it and realized – extra ice cream (1 cup vs my usual ½ cup), extra oat scone last night, mainly sitting the last week with very little exercise, etc. … all little things but they add up. I did go for a walk last evening which felt great, although man am I slow.
03/29 – 165 – IF 12 hrs., did not finish tracking. Raining outside so I did exercises while listening to a podcast instead of just sitting. Prepped the trim I need to paint – thought I would get it painted but my chatty granddaughter phoned. Happy to have the talk with her and likely better to give the arm a break after all the sanding.
03/30
03/31 – 164.4
04/01 – 164.4 – IF 12 hrs. Tracked everything. Not so great about getting on here but making good progress on the painting trim. LOTS of phone calls … even from people we haven’t heard from in ages - I think they are bored. Of course our kids want to check in on us as well. So this is all great but after while I let DH answer cause I was not going to get finished otherwise. More prep to do today. Started doing exercises in the evening if I’m watching Youtube.
04/02 – 165 – No IF since I had a handful of dried cranberries late in the evening. Did not track but quite sure I was within cals. However, my inner self just rebelled at doing more painting prep. and I sat and stitched most of the day. I love doing that but it’s not good for the body – my eyes and hand need a break and my body needs exercise, sigh. At least binge stitching is better that binge eating …
04/03 – 165
04/04 – 165.8 – Thought I had a really good day yesterday and the usual IF. Today will make myself track. I notice with my husband that he is eating way more now that he is stuck at home so maybe I’ve eaten more than I realized. We’ve had snow and rain since the beginning of this round but today is lovely so hoping to get in a walk.

@musicsax – Local shops in Canada are few and far between – absolutely nothing in my area – so all my purchases are online unless I find one when I’m on a trip. This kit came from a small family business in Moscow. I used to teach new immigrants to Canada and had a few from E. Europe and know how hard it is to get by in those countries so kind of liked buying from her.
@SheilaBoneham – I knit some too but hadn’t done cross stitch since I was in my 20’s. I’ve found that it has changed a lot since then. There are so many different varieties of patterns and a ton of independent designers. Lots of them combine different counted work techniques with the cross stitch or add beads or use specialty threads. I especially liked the way the black backstitching was used in this design (though it’s a pain to do) but was surprised that it also uses shading – the background and some of the water in the containers is 1 thread instead of two and sometimes just a half stitch.
@deepwoodslady – Lol – even the vase is similar!

Looking forward:
- March: I need to focus on getting back to where I was pre-Christmas
- 2020: Goal is to stabilise weight around 145
- Strengthen strategies to reframe the tendency to use unhealthy snack food as a reward/treat.
- Make sure I have prepared healthy snacks available
- Cut down on eating between meals
Back Story:2018:2020
My goal was to get down below 160, to allow me to enjoy the indulgences of holidays and celebrations.
2019:
I exceeded that and have been below 150 for most of the last 2 months.
In 2018, I put on 10 lbs over the last 2 months of the year.
In 2019, I consistently lost weight since the end of July. I put on about 4lbs over the Christmas break, but was still below my original 2019 goal.
That's a WIN in my book!
Focus: maintenance! I might even manage to lose a bit more ever so slowly.

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

I' m in! Thank you, @GrandmaJackie!
70 year old female...5'5" ...I used to be 5'7" but arthritis hit and I lost two inches, so now that two inches is squished around my waist like the billows of a big accordion... ...Oh, well. I'll just keep working on it.
We used to walk 5 miles a day. A pinched nerve and back surgery side-lined me for about a year. Then I had back surgery. Then I had hip surgery March 10th. Recovery is slow. Sure do want to be back walking!
The Shelter in Place has everyone freaked. We need to remain calm and respectful of each other.

@deepwoodslady - thank you! I think he’s just the cutest, but I know I am biased! He’s almost the spitting image of my brother when he was little.
@wellnfree - I am learning more about being the mum of a boy, I will need to steel my heart I think!6 -

Day | Weight | Change | Comment
03/28 | 132.8kg | +0.2kg
03/29 | 132.7kg | -0.1kg | Sorry for the late start to the round, I always seem to struggle getting online on weekends! I haven’t been making good food choices, but portion sizes are down so that’s good. No exercise. Not enough water. I can do better than this! My brother in law has been tested for the virus, will get the results in a couple of days. If it’s positive, it’s the first case in our town and my sister will need to be quarantined (she’s a teacher). Waiting with bated breath!
03/30 | 132.8kg | +0.1kg | Much more of the same poor choices for the weekend. Guzzling the water today and hoping to make some better choices! No. Hope is not a management method. I WILL make some better choices! Still awaiting test results for my brother in law, no news yet.
03/31 | 133.0kg | +0.2kg
04/01 | 133.1kg | +0.1kg | More of the same poor choices. I've been eating too much bread and not enough veggies. Must do better. Brother in law has tested negative, so that's good! Still no local cases here, but our state is essentially in lockdown - only allowed out of the house to do essential shopping/business, work etc. so I'm glad to be working from home. My work is still not really taking it seriously, as I am one of only 3-4 people who have been allowed to work from home (others may be able to if they ask, but management are avoiding doing a proper risk assessment which would result in scores of people working remotely, since they can't monitor that work properly. In other news, had to take my little one to the emergency room yesterday - he is 15 months old, and only started walking maybe a month ago, but decided he could try running. It did not end well - he fell over on the pavers outside and hit his head pretty hard. He has a big egg on his head and some bruising, but no signs of concussion (yet) - talk about giving his mama a heart attack though!
04/02 | 133.5kg | +0.4kg

04/05 | 134.0kg | +0.4kg | Sorry I have been AWOL the last few days. I am struggling a lot with staying on track. I am one of those people whose motivation drops off quickly and I go back to old habits. I need to develop some good new habits in this new environment.

🙂 I'm glad to be back for another round. Posting daily helps me stay accountable. I've missed a few rounds but I'm working my way back.
I ended Round108 at 166.6lbs
This time around I'll
- get down to165lbs or less and
- complete 1 full hr of exercise each day
It will happen as long as I stay on plan. I have everything I need on hand so No Excuses!

04/03 Too Crazy to Care!
I'm holding myself accountable for having done nothing I promised myself this round. Worse, this applies to every area of my life and not just health and wellness mini goals.
I feel Blessed that my immediate family has not been infected. However, my home town is at the epicenter of this thing and we all live within a short drive off where we grew up. Furthermore, I'm stuck 1000 miles away because I needed to attend to matters out of town. Normally I enjoy solitude and my own company but with this global pandemic I'm losing my isht!
Tomorrow I'll weigh in and attempt to post something both relevant and coherent. Thanks for allowing me to rant.
04/04. 171.4? I think
I weighed but neglected to record it so I'm just guessing at how far I've swung the wrong way. What I'm certain of is this is bad and it is the result of eating the worst things for me personally.
My head is still not on straight but I've regained calorie control. Recording everything I eat is key especially when I've gone astray.
I've got a way to go with my workout plan. This has always been the easiest thing for me but suddenly it's no longer a no brainier. That's troubling. Muscle tone feeds my vanity especially around my mid section. I need my waistline back.
Tomorrow I'll get a proper weight. By staying with my heaviest time of day for the record, there is no lying to myself.
Stay Safe
Stay Healthy
Stay HOME!

It's *inspiring* and this is when keeping it up is more important than ever. There are so many factors, like increasing muscle mass, water retention, hormonal fluctuations --> that day to day you can't always see the bigger picture. It will all pay off in the long run.
Cheering you on!

Day/Weight/Comment
03/28 192.0 grr I’m tired of seeing this number. I mean I was WAY under on calories, they were almost all high quality calories, plus I had the best run in years. I’m still hoping this is hormonal and will release all at once in a few days.
03/29 191.8 all I can think is my body is getting too efficient. Doing the same things most days, under for calories, but zero weight lost in the last 7 days. I keep saying I need to mix it up but now I have to commit to that with some planning
03/30 191.2 finally some trend down. Overall not huge movement, but better than I’ve been doing. Cross fingers this keeps going.
03/31 191.6
04/01 191.4 too busy yesterday to post, but I did weigh. 10 days later, same number. I would really hate to think these are my maintenance calories, but it’s hard to chock this up to hormones any longer. If it’s a factor of staying indoors to work—how do work from home folks cope? I’m actually not overeating, I’m always green on calories. I weigh and measure. I’m still getting out for daily exercise, I just don’t get the same daily movement of getting from meeting room to meeting room. (I commute to my kitchen...and it’s much closer to my desk than the break room or bathrooms at work are!) I’m going to give it a few days longer then move up to maintenance calories just in case it’s a factor of eating too little (doesn’t feel like it, but who know).
04/02 191.8 I’m just not believing these numbers. I really am not cheating myself in any way. And I’m getting in good movement. And realistically my stress doesn’t feel all that much worse than bad days at work usually do. I’m sure it’s in the background but it’s not driving me crazy or anything. This weekend I have to figure out something different to jolt out of this weight!
04/03 191.4 ok, I’m done with this. Switching up to maintenance calories this weekend. If I’m not going to lose (been this weight since March 22, almost 2 weeks without moving down) then I might as well try to actively maintain.
04/04 191.4 went up to maintenance calories and nailed the exact same weight. Not what I really want but at least no gain yet when eating more. Let’s see how this plays out.

Day/Weight/Comment
03/28 133.6 – 9 miles walked yesterday in my allowed daily exercise yesterday. 540 calories in credit, all macros in green. Managed to get all my supplies at the supermarket yesterday, only had to queue for 15 minutes to gain access, no hardship at all in the great scheme of things. Keep washing our hands !!
03/29 134.4 – 8 miles walked yesterday – 39 calories & 75 carbs over respectively. Had a lovely video conference call with DD, DS and little DGC, I miss them so much, but know needs must to keep us all safe.
03/30 133.2 – 7.41 miles walked yesterday, 397 calories in credit, all other macros in green, more protein and less carbs, I'm going to try to stick with that trend. Call out to our heroes, the NHS and those both in the food chain and benefit system, 4 of my siblings are involved in each of those areas, each are experiencing “difficulties” in their jobs at the moment not helped by the public at large who are giving them lots of verbal abuse which they don't need, they are experiencing so much stress already without that. Please be kind particularly to our key workers at this very difficult time.
03/31 133.2 – 9.87 miles walked yesterday, 666 calories in credit & all macros in green. Stay safe everyone.
04/01 134 – my fault – succumbed to chocolate last night although I did stay within calories. 10.3 miles walked yesterday, 240 calories in credit, 14 carbs over.
04/02 133 – 11.49 miles walked yesterday, a good day; 655 calories in credit, all macros in green.
04/03 133 – 9.15 miles walked yesterday, 392 calories in credit, 5 carbs over.
04/04 133 – 8.66 miles walked yesterday, 288 calories in credit, all macros in green.
04/05 135.2 - 8.4 miles walked yesterday, but got hit by the late night chocolate monster . Must be extra strong today to compensate. Plan on having a garden bbq today as it is forecast to be a lovely warm sunny day. So,,,, today the balance of for our holiday in June in Menorca to celebrate DH's 60th birthday (he's my toy boy !) was taken from our credit card. We've spent much time debating as to whether we should stop this final payment, whether we will get our money back if it doesn't go ahead, we are doubtful that it will, but if we don't pay it we stand to lose what we've already paid. So it's done, we are covered by both ABTA & our credit card company, but ................ I know it's a small thing in the grand scheme of things compared to others great suffering and sacrifice at these unpresidented times, but it's human nature that we concentrate on our own particular circumstances! Hope your're all keeping well and safe

Super busy and I am loving the WW zoom meetings and my congregation zoom meetings too. But I hate staying home for so many reasons. I need to keep moving. Surprisingly my eating has been pretty good but because I am getting less than 3000 steps most days by weight loss has been wonky. But at least I am not binging while at home and I have made sure I have nothing to binge on even thought it has been so tempting to buy chips, brownies etc to snack on while at home. But I have my favorite fruits on standby.

My journey … "I May Not Be Where I Want To Be, but I’m Not Where I Use To Be!"In 2003 Weighed over 600 lbs.My highest weight was 611 in 2003. Weight in 2004 before weight loss surgery was 580. Lowest weight after surgery was 302 in 2007. "I May Not Be Where I Want To Be, but I’m Not Where I Use To Be!"
In 2005 Weighed under 400 lbs.
In 2007 lowest weight after surgery 302lbs
I joined MFP on March 27, 2010 weighing in at 388 pounds. I was re-gaining weight and stumbled up on it while trying to get back on track. I was determined never to see 400+ on that scale again for me.
I have been morbidly obese all my life. I have a lifetime of mental and physical scars from obesity. In October 2004 I had Gastric Bypass surgery. WLS (Weight Loss Surgery) was the best gift that I could and did give to myself.
Between 2008 and 2010 I gradually gained back 80 of almost 300 pounds lost initially after weight loss surgery. I never reached my goal weight of 200 pounds. I still managed to keep off over 65 percent of the weight I lost which is very good and I am very proud of my accomplishments since 2004. It has literally changed my life for the better on all levels. I am here to lose re-gained weight and to reach my initial goal weight. I am in no hurry. I am taking this one day at a time and I am in it for the long haul.
Surgery did not fix the head. It is a good tool and the best gift I have given to myself, but it was not the easy way out as many people think. Once the honeymoon period is over after the WLS it is up to the patient to keep the weight off.
On August 29, 2011-- I was admitted to Intensive Out Patient Eating Disorder Program to learn how to manage my binge eating disorder effectively. The program is wonderful indeed and will be instrumental in me reaching all of my goals. The focus of this program was how to eat and not diet. Weight loss was not a goal of the program. I actually gained 20 pounds in program. But I had to get thru a lot of stuff and my the time I was released I had stopped gaining. I was discharged from program on December 3, 2011.
My tool is still working for me today. My head is still the issue. SO the struggle continues. I will never beat myself up again. I fight the fine fight faithfully and positively everyday. Because that is what will get me to my goals one day. Even though it may not show up on the scale every day -- Everyday I make progress one way or another just by showing up, waking up and trying.
Giving up is not an option for me. Perseverance, Patience, & Positive thinking will help me reach my goals…… and the same is true for you too!! We have the power within us.*One of my major goals is to get my BMI under 40 (260 weight) so I can have surgery on my knees *
