But did the OP ever realize her dream of becoming a classy, cute-clothed stripper/dancer?0

Good lord... this thread is still going???
Good lord... This thread got necro'd after four years of being dead.
MFP runs like *kitten*. I'm willing to bet that if they deleted some old threads it'd not only prevent things like this from coming back to life. But, it'd also improve performance1 -
I would love to be a stripper but my age, job and husband prevent it lmao!3

Why is being a stripper bad?
I realize I'm replying to a zombie thread
Being a stripper isn't bad - never has been, never will be - it's a service desired
...being a debt collector, present day, COVID-19, is an awful predicament to be in now, I imagine2 -

Isn’t that a really old comment you’re quoting? 😁0 -

It is, and was very fitting1 -
Was it a troll thread tho?
Ima say yes...entertainment at its finest0 -
I have zero issue with it. They are marketing an asset that they have worked on, and being compensated for it.
People with “morals” think you are prostituting yourself, but I do that every day I go to work, I just have to wear pants is all3 -

Well it's not bad per-se, it's a legit and honest occupation and provides a service that has a demand and in more ways it's more honest than covert-sexualised industries (cough*advertising**cough). But I guess the negative connoatations are stemming from some of the types that associated with that industry. Well.. Maybe I watched to many episodes of The Sopranos. If it's what u wanna do, then do it...I hear pole dancing is actually quite a brutal workout.
EDIT: This thread is from 16'..da *kitten*?2 -

i think it was a random spam bot that bumped the thread with some stupid clickable link. got flagged for spam enough and then removed.
but hilariously, now it makes it look like @PlentyofProtein00 was the first one to actually bump the thread again in 20202 -

gotta do what you gotta do to pay the bills in the meantime. strippings legal at least. long as you don't end up snorting coke off the top of the toilet roll holder in the back of the bathroom you'll prob be okay.
lovely here come the judgey comments about doing coke off the top of the toilet roll holder smh
LOL..But slightly off topic, I used to work in Loss Prevention for a major chain. My job was to break down video whenever an issue in the store or facility arose. One time, the video was priceless..two guys in the can, doing coke, yup...ON THE TOILET COVER! I *kitten* you not! We were SO grossed out while printing the pictures, not because they were doing coke, but YUCK, on the TOILET! Do it off your hand at least!!!

Lol.
A 4-yrs later update from the OP would be nice to see how she fared, cuz so many strippers have sad tales to tell (I've known a few)... addiction, abuse, often pressured into champagne room trysts (according to the aforementioned). There are other avenues.
I met a 23-yr old bartender recently. She worked at a beach nightclub, made more $ in 1 night than I've ever made in 1-wk & had just purchased 1 condo for herself & another for her mum. I should have learned how to make a gimlet.1 -

Yeah, I know a couple of bartenders who are similar in banking good money a night. But, the stories are also very similar in that not all make that kind of money unless they're working in a very busy nightclub or bar. Most do okay but not good.
Strippers are similar. The run of the mill local strip joints which are smaller don't do all that well. it's the higher end clubs that cater to more affluent clientele such as stars, athletes, business districts, etc. that get the money in.
Though, in current times, strippers are out of work as well and it's webcam models who are making the money. At least until people's savings dry up from being out of work, then they'll be SoL unless they've got a rich tipper.2 -

True to all the above & many other professions. Location, location, location.
And, yes, we're in the Tampa area & she works at a beach nightclub, so the money flows freely.
Have a great day!1 -

There are no trysts in the champagne room.

Pros of stripping: good money, flexible schedule, the chance to feel confident and sexy in front of an audience.
Cons: the world that surrounds it is pretty dangerous if you don’t take care and distance yourself. I haven’t met a stripper yet who didn’t end up either on drugs, facing traumatic events before stopping it altogether or death (two of my friends who stripped died. One of suicide and one from OD.
I don’t blame stripping for their deaths. But it’s important to have a business mindset when doing something that makes you extremely vulnerable to predatory people and damaging mindsets.
I personally couldn’t do it. I’ve dabbled in camming in the past and it just made me feel bad about myself once the “high” from attention wore off. I cannot disconnect from my emotions and put too much into whatever I do.
;TLDR
Is being a stripper bad? No
However, I do feel it is a dangerous lifestyle for many people.
And I personally wouldn’t do it because I know I am one of those people.9 -
Nothing wrong with being a stripper, but as with any profession there are pros and cons. Good money of course is one of the biggest pros....but you need to be careful. There are numerous dangers out there. A stripper in a well-managed, high end place might be a lot safer that other places....Working the pole takes tons of strength and agility...Make sure you are doing it for all the right reasons..0

Sometimes you can’t just paint over something and it’s best to get down to basics before starting again3
