@speyerj I love the idea of rewarding yourself every 25lbs! I think I'm going to do it too! By the way, those shoes are really funky.

Down a pound! I've been annoyingly plateaued for the last two and a half weeks. I wasn't exactly worried yet, but one does start to wonder what the heck is going on. (grin) I'd like to dip below 270 before it plateaus again.11

Good morning ladies! I know I have been quiet on here lately but I come here every day to catch up and see how everyone is doing. You all are more inspiring than you know. Today marks my 1 year anniversary using MFP and as I reflect on how far I have come and how far I still have to go. I just wanted to say thank you for all your stories, wisdom and encouragement. I never knew how much this group has meant to me. I honestly share more here with you all than I do with those around me. You all know the struggles and know how even a small loss feels so good.
My stats:
04/22/19 -288
04/22/20 -195 95 lost!!
Didn't quite hit 100lbs lost within a year but I am proud of my progress. That feeling is new to me. Thank you for letting me share. Love to you all! Have a great day!! ๐๐13 -

You really inspire me, because that's the type of weight loss I'm trying for. Keep on keeping on!

@AlexandraFindsHerself1971 Thank you so much! I am inspired by you as well! I love reading your posts and your food prep always sound so good! I think it's wonderful you prep for BF and Gf as well as your own food! Keep rocking it! ๐5

I'm so glad you found us @finngirl61! I know from experience that the idea of having to lose 100 pounds or more seems insurmountable when you begin. But right now, all you have to do is lose 2 pounds in 10 days. Before long those 2 pound increments will add up. Right now, set your sights on logging and if you can manage it, move just a little more than you did yesterday. That is really enough.
Welcome also @wholebygrace. You are so right about not going into too high a deficit. I often say that my goal of this weight loss journey has been to make it as easy as I can for myself. For me that meant small changes that I could manage. You have to meet yourself where you are at right now. The rest will come in time.
@duebedm - You made good progress!
@_confunded_ good for you for staying within your limits (and you can adjust the MFP settings to give you more calories if that seems like a more sustainable option). I'm interested to find out what your month end weight will be! I don't know how you manage the suspense!
For those of you who've been with me on my journey for a while, you may know that I devised a plan to reward myself for each 25 pound I dropped. And my go to reward has been John Fluevog shoes. They are expensive and frivolous, which makes them perfect for the occassion. So here's my 100 pound loss reward:
Thanks @speyerj!!! You continue to be an inspiration and I like your specific suggestions! Cool shoes; are they comfortable? ๐3 -

Hello,
I was on a good plan until being inside for 3 months so far. No CV-19 but have a husband with Parkinson's who is prone to falling and needs being waited on due to not being able to walk much without assistance. Keeps me really close to home and close to him. I'm even uneasy going to the mailbox these days. And if he does fall, I have to call the Rescue Squad to come and help him up. So, it's a struggle for me.

@speyerj and @changeforeverlj Thank you! @speyerj Thanks for the exercise suggestion. I'll definitely give that a try. And I will do it near a wall...my balance could use some improvement as well.4

@Candyn617 Congrats on your anniversary and your weight loss in that year! I agree with how much this group means. And, like you, I share more here than with those around me. Good luck as you continue your journey!3

Weigh-in Wednesday
Highest weight: 435 (11/1/18)--lost 50 lbs. by the end of 2018 but got off track and gained back almost 31 lbs.
SW: 415.8 (4/17/19)
4/1: 262.0
4/8: 260.8
4/15: 258.0
4/22: 255.8
4/30:
April GW: 254.2
GW: 160 (then reevaluate)
Weekly exercise goals:
- exercise bike 5 times per week - 5/5
- short walking videos/treadmill twice a day 5 times per week - 5/5
- strength training 2 times per week - 2/2
- chair yoga 3 times per week - 3/3
- choose 2 or 3 core specific exercises and start doing them 3 times per week
I think the pain in my right leg is gone. I've had no pain at all the past 2 days. Yay!
I can't imagine how some of you are handling job changes/loss and/or teaching children at home. It must be very stressful. Good luck to you all during these trying times.10 -
Weigh-in Wednesday for me:
Height: 5'6"
4/1: 186.5
4/8: 186.0
4/15: 186.3
4/22: 188.1
4/29:
April goal: 181
Non-scale goals:- Some type of movement activity/exercise in the morning and evening - getting more like once a day
- Water at 128 oz - between 96-128
- Continue eating healthy foods - yes but treats here and there
- Prioritize sleep and manage anxiety - getting better at this
Hmmmn. Second week of posting a gain (albeit small) despite averaging 1530 calories this past week. I continue to be lower on protein and higher in carbs than I should be and have indulged in some treats (but not significant enough to take be out of a deficit and be a gain). Exercise has been okay, not great. TOM has felt imminent for the past two weeks (perimenopause) and I do believe that it is partly responsible.
I don't want to end my journey here!! I feel like the 180s is a "comfortable" weight - not skinny but not too heavy. It was a settling point for me previously. So I need to push myself into the 170s. The coronavirus coverage is making health seem more urgent. I have historically had high inflammation (CRP) numbers and would like to bring them down more by reducing my weight.
I do believe I need to get back to basics. When I started, I was double tracking here on on WW. I'm going to start that up again; I do believe it makes me more careful about what I am eating instead of just focusing on calories. Also, I was doing pretty well with intermittent fasting before. I have let that go over the past few weeks. I have definitely been snacking and having treats later into the evening for the past few weeks. And I need to increase my protein. I have been having more vegetarian meals lately since our daughter doesn't eat meat but I know protein helps me lose weight and feel satiated.
On the non-scale victory front, we took actual bikes out yesterday!! I have been using a spinning bike for indoor exercise and the last time I rode a bike I was so out of breath and overwhelmed, I needed to stop and let my family go further without me. Granted this was not a strenuous ride as we are teaching our 6 year old to ride. But I can tell my stamina is much better! And he is doing just great too!9 -
Welcome to everyone new, and hugs to everyone struggling.
@candyn Congratulation on the 1 year milestone! Your persistence and success has been so inspirational! It has been so nice to get to know you on this thread and I feel the same way about it!!
@muttiNM so glad your pain has resolved. And thank you so much for sharing more about your journey. It is so cool to see how you and your plan have evolved.
@speyerj your boots are so cool! You will never be able to look at them without thinking about how awesome you are!
@keriA congrats on the loss and taking control of COVID-19!! You are really using this time well and staying safe, which is awesome.
@shorepine your garden sounds amazing and I am sure having easier access to fresh fruit and veggies will make a huge difference. Homeschooling and working has been a real challenge over here too. I am really trying to lean into this experience because it it has really been a rollercoaster for all of us. I am finding when I set aside specific times to work with my son he does so much better and it is more effective than having him try to work alongside me. Of course it means I usually log off from work at 10 pm to get everything done.
Stay strong and healthy,everyone!7 -
Tonight wasn't a traditional shrimp scampi, but it was good enough that I'm going to write down what I did and go through the slog of entering it in MFP. And putting it on a recipe card.4

Hey everyone and happy Wednesday. It's nice to see how everyone is doing. I'm having a good day, it's rainy outside but it feels kind of nice. On rainy days at least it feels like I want to be home and cozy. I think the sunnier days are harder because I feel inspired to be out and about and it's hard when there is nowhere to go.
I've already had "PE" class with my kids, we did some exercise videos geared toward children and then after that I ran on my treadmill for almost 45 minutes. I also have done yoga. I feel pretty exhausted to be honest, but that's good because I've been having trouble sleeping the last few nights. I do that wonderful thing where I wake up at 3 am and spend a few hours worrying. The worst! I hope all the exercise will help me sleep.
@aliciap0116 I have started to have weird stuff happen like feeling like my period is imminent for weeks too, I wonder if that could be perimenopause. I've kind of been feeling like that for the last week! So annoying. The 180's has been a settling point for me in the past too, I hope you can push past it. You are doing so great though, and have come so far. I hear you on the challenges of homeschool and working. I have found the same thing as you- that taking specific time to work with my kids is a lot more constructive than just having them work alongside of me.
@Candyn617 that is an impressive weight loss over the year- congratulations and thanks for inspiring us!
@pat30725 so sorry to hear of the challenges of caring for your husband during this trying time. Falling is always scary, and probably even more so now that there are other health risks around. I hope you have help and support nearby if needed. And yeah, being inside hasn't helped many of us with our health goals. Life seems too centered around the kitchen!
@KeriA I always said the same thing about gardening, that I didn't have time. And really, I didn't. But of course all that has changed now. We had a couple raised beds and I've always grown lettuces for my salads in them because I eat a lot of salad in the summer and fresh picked greens are so much better. But this year we built 3 additional raised beds and decided to diversify what we are growing. I will definitely have time this year!
