@Candyn617 Congrats on your anniversary and your weight loss in that year! I agree with how much this group means. And, like you, I share more here than with those around me. Good luck as you continue your journey!3

Weigh-in Wednesday
Highest weight: 435 (11/1/18)--lost 50 lbs. by the end of 2018 but got off track and gained back almost 31 lbs.
SW: 415.8 (4/17/19)
4/1: 262.0
4/8: 260.8
4/15: 258.0
4/22: 255.8
4/30:
April GW: 254.2
GW: 160 (then reevaluate)
Weekly exercise goals:
- exercise bike 5 times per week - 5/5
- short walking videos/treadmill twice a day 5 times per week - 5/5
- strength training 2 times per week - 2/2
- chair yoga 3 times per week - 3/3
- choose 2 or 3 core specific exercises and start doing them 3 times per week
I think the pain in my right leg is gone. I've had no pain at all the past 2 days. Yay!
I can't imagine how some of you are handling job changes/loss and/or teaching children at home. It must be very stressful. Good luck to you all during these trying times.10 -
Weigh-in Wednesday for me:
Height: 5'6"
4/1: 186.5
4/8: 186.0
4/15: 186.3
4/22: 188.1
4/29:
April goal: 181
Non-scale goals:- Some type of movement activity/exercise in the morning and evening - getting more like once a day
- Water at 128 oz - between 96-128
- Continue eating healthy foods - yes but treats here and there
- Prioritize sleep and manage anxiety - getting better at this
Hmmmn. Second week of posting a gain (albeit small) despite averaging 1530 calories this past week. I continue to be lower on protein and higher in carbs than I should be and have indulged in some treats (but not significant enough to take be out of a deficit and be a gain). Exercise has been okay, not great. TOM has felt imminent for the past two weeks (perimenopause) and I do believe that it is partly responsible.
I don't want to end my journey here!! I feel like the 180s is a "comfortable" weight - not skinny but not too heavy. It was a settling point for me previously. So I need to push myself into the 170s. The coronavirus coverage is making health seem more urgent. I have historically had high inflammation (CRP) numbers and would like to bring them down more by reducing my weight.
I do believe I need to get back to basics. When I started, I was double tracking here on on WW. I'm going to start that up again; I do believe it makes me more careful about what I am eating instead of just focusing on calories. Also, I was doing pretty well with intermittent fasting before. I have let that go over the past few weeks. I have definitely been snacking and having treats later into the evening for the past few weeks. And I need to increase my protein. I have been having more vegetarian meals lately since our daughter doesn't eat meat but I know protein helps me lose weight and feel satiated.
On the non-scale victory front, we took actual bikes out yesterday!! I have been using a spinning bike for indoor exercise and the last time I rode a bike I was so out of breath and overwhelmed, I needed to stop and let my family go further without me. Granted this was not a strenuous ride as we are teaching our 6 year old to ride. But I can tell my stamina is much better! And he is doing just great too!9 -
Welcome to everyone new, and hugs to everyone struggling.
@candyn Congratulation on the 1 year milestone! Your persistence and success has been so inspirational! It has been so nice to get to know you on this thread and I feel the same way about it!!
@muttiNM so glad your pain has resolved. And thank you so much for sharing more about your journey. It is so cool to see how you and your plan have evolved.
@speyerj your boots are so cool! You will never be able to look at them without thinking about how awesome you are!
@keriA congrats on the loss and taking control of COVID-19!! You are really using this time well and staying safe, which is awesome.
@shorepine your garden sounds amazing and I am sure having easier access to fresh fruit and veggies will make a huge difference. Homeschooling and working has been a real challenge over here too. I am really trying to lean into this experience because it it has really been a rollercoaster for all of us. I am finding when I set aside specific times to work with my son he does so much better and it is more effective than having him try to work alongside me. Of course it means I usually log off from work at 10 pm to get everything done.
Stay strong and healthy,everyone!7 -
Tonight wasn't a traditional shrimp scampi, but it was good enough that I'm going to write down what I did and go through the slog of entering it in MFP. And putting it on a recipe card.4

Hey everyone and happy Wednesday. It's nice to see how everyone is doing. I'm having a good day, it's rainy outside but it feels kind of nice. On rainy days at least it feels like I want to be home and cozy. I think the sunnier days are harder because I feel inspired to be out and about and it's hard when there is nowhere to go.
I've already had "PE" class with my kids, we did some exercise videos geared toward children and then after that I ran on my treadmill for almost 45 minutes. I also have done yoga. I feel pretty exhausted to be honest, but that's good because I've been having trouble sleeping the last few nights. I do that wonderful thing where I wake up at 3 am and spend a few hours worrying. The worst! I hope all the exercise will help me sleep.
@aliciap0116 I have started to have weird stuff happen like feeling like my period is imminent for weeks too, I wonder if that could be perimenopause. I've kind of been feeling like that for the last week! So annoying. The 180's has been a settling point for me in the past too, I hope you can push past it. You are doing so great though, and have come so far. I hear you on the challenges of homeschool and working. I have found the same thing as you- that taking specific time to work with my kids is a lot more constructive than just having them work alongside of me.
@Candyn617 that is an impressive weight loss over the year- congratulations and thanks for inspiring us!
@pat30725 so sorry to hear of the challenges of caring for your husband during this trying time. Falling is always scary, and probably even more so now that there are other health risks around. I hope you have help and support nearby if needed. And yeah, being inside hasn't helped many of us with our health goals. Life seems too centered around the kitchen!
@KeriA I always said the same thing about gardening, that I didn't have time. And really, I didn't. But of course all that has changed now. We had a couple raised beds and I've always grown lettuces for my salads in them because I eat a lot of salad in the summer and fresh picked greens are so much better. But this year we built 3 additional raised beds and decided to diversify what we are growing. I will definitely have time this year!

I can’t remember what I started the month at but here’s where I’m at now
Aug 2019 SW 262.9
hw 265
Cw 234.8
Gw 160
It’s such a long road and in the end it will be over a hundred pounds lost but right now I keep my focus on the fact that I’ve lost 30 pounds.7 -
I just posted my weight yesterday but I post my weight when I lose it and I lost it again today. This way I get to have a weigh in with the Wednesday weigh-in people.
Name: Keri
67 years old, Height: 5'6"
SW: 266 lbs
2/1: 263.6
3/1: 261.8 lbs
April SW: 257.6
3/24: 257.4 (my old low)
4/16: 256.8
4/22: 255.8
CW: 255.2
GW: Onderland 1st, maintain for a few weeks then 150 lbs.
April Goal weight: 252
I made Hawaiian style Chicken Long Rice. It is made with bean threads so low in carbs but feels like you are eating Chinese rice noodles. I still need to do some exercise today.8 -
I had a day today. I didn’t want water. I didn’t want to exercise. I didn’t want to eat my food but I wanted junk. I guess this is the funks?11

My weightloss has slowed down because I don't want to move. I know this is depression, I know that it's due to the COVID-19 situation, and so I'm just keeping an eye on my psyche and making sure I do the right things, even when it's really really hard to do them. If it gets past a certain point I'll be calling my psychiatrist for a prescription, don't worry. My boyfriend and girlfriend and I are all watching our mental health very very closely. This is exactly the sort of thing that can knock a major mental illness into an exacerbation, and we don't need that.

I have been losing everyday lately.
Name: Keri
67 years old, Height: 5'6"
SW: 266 lbs
2/1: 263.6
3/1: 261.8 lbs
April SW: 257.6

4/21: 255.8
4/22: 255.2
CW: 254.4
GW: Onderland 1st, maintain for a few weeks then 150 lbs.
April Goal weight: 252
My April Goals are:
1. Get enough sleep and improve water intake Doing well at sleep but sometimes I go to sleep late or wake up too early. But since I am not working I either sleep in or take a nap. I am drinking more water.
2. Log weight, food and exercise and stay under calorie goal Yes.
3. Get some exercise 6 days a week and up NEAT clean More like 5 days a week so far.
4. Get close to lower 250s this means my highs and lows get and stay below 255 I made this goal.
5. Make healthy foods at home. Yes
We will have the leftover Hawaiian style Chicken Long Rice. But I will add more bean threads (long rice). I did get exercise yesterday.
I have read the posts from the last few days. I definitely have my days when I am in a funk. I just try to achieve a few objectives and read, pray, etc.
Non-scale victory. I am weird. I like black licorice. Sometimes I ask my husband to get me a package. I used to eat the whole thing. Just a regular size package but more than 1 serving. Then recently I would be able to leave a small half. Lately he has been getting some for me without me asking for it I guess since we don't go to the store often. But then I would ask only month or less. I usually yell at him when he does this. I don't really yell. But the time before last I just had a third of the package each day. This time I have only had a serving each time I get some. I have never been able to do that with candy. We didn't get candy when I was growing up so I never learned how to control eating sweets. I guess I am learning now. However I am not sure whether I could do this with sour gummy bears.

💮Lose weight. ✅ Wow. I'm in the 180s! It won't stick around, because I went running last night, and forgot to drink more water before I went to sleep. But man, after two weeks of hovering at right around the same weight, it's really nice to see that whoosh.
And into a new decade of numbers! I haven't been in the 180s since 2018, right after I had my baby (how having babies works for me is, I gain lots of weight with baby, have baby, lose weight back to pre-pregnancy pretty easily, then sloooowly creep up in weight as I go on breastfeeding, because I second guess my supply and overeat in a bid to get my supply back up. Then I have to go on to lose the weight again after I'm done breastfeeding. Mind games, man. Get me every time.)
💮Move every day. ✅ We've had a couple rainy days, but I've managed to do some kind of workout every day. It's raining again today, so we'll see what I can get into for today.
💮Be kind to myself. ✅ Tonight is pizza night, and I have plans to binge watch some shows while either knitting or doing a puzzle. TGIF: COVID edition, lol.
I wanted to take a second to thank @RavenStCloud again. When I lost weight from 216 to 155 or so several years ago, I second guessed all my progress every step of the way, and my only outlet for talking about it was a Xanga blog (so now you know how long ago it was, lol). This thread has been essential to my staying sane during this process this go round, and I wanted to thank @RavenStCloud for this thread and all of you, for being here, for showing up, and for showing love. I really appreciate you all, and all you do.14 -

Overall Goal Weight: 165
I had a better week this week. Almost back to my starting weight for the month, so I should be able to meet my goal of maintaining this month, possibly even losing a bit. I'm feeling motivated to increase my exercise more also, and am going to dig out my weights and find a routine to add to my evenings. I'm also going to try a recipe for a peanut butter chocolate protein shake and am hoping to add that to my afternoon or evening routine. I feel like I eat well until dinner time, and then usually go over so hopefully the shakes will help keep the hunger levels steady throughout the last half of each day.
Have a great weekend, everyone!9 -
I made cranberry-white chocolate chip miniature scones as a present today and did not have a one. (Not least because I know I find them addictive and it's safest to just not have any.)
Also going to make chocolate peanut butter chocolate chip tea bread, for my sons. Then Sunday I'll make that lemon meringue pie for Mom and take up a whole bunch of stuff; the pie, a container of ham and beans, a wedge of cornbread, the scones, and the chocolate bread, plus some presents that I got for Younger Son and couldn't give him earlier this month. I got her a grocery gift card for a present because she has Elder and Younger Sons and Younger Son's Boyfriend living with her, and none of them can work/school because of COVID-19, and they were contributing to the household's income. I believe in practical presents.9 -
Woot! It is my weigh in day and even though it is TOM, I still managed to lose weight. I attribute that to closely watching my intake, drinking water, and moving every single day. It was nice to see a decent dip.

@Tarzan37 : great job getting back to the weight you want to maintain. Let us know if the protein shake is a tasty option for you!
@CupcakeCrusoe: great perseverance! It really showed in that drop! I do like the goal of being kind to yourself...I may have to integrate that into my May goals!

Caught up reading all posts missed in the last 2-3 days. Congrats to those who've maintained or lost. Hang in there, it'll get better ... to those who didn't meet their goals this time around. Hello to any new folks.
This was the status I posted earlier today --- Last couple of days ... BLAH!! Mood was sucky; couldn't get logged on or stay logged on when I did. Inhaler prescription did not get called in so struggling there. Too cold to be outside for me. Just a couple of craptastic days! OK ... enough of that!! Gonna put some fun dance music on and boogie!!
Things generally seem to be under control today. Called doctor this morning about missing prescription; just got a call from the drug store that it's in ... so I'll actually be going outside , in my car, to go pickup my medication. OMG!! I can't tell you how excited that makes me. not even going to get out of the car! just going out and about in my car is a thrill!! LOL8 -

I am really happy because I got a delivery date for weekly deliveries from a local dairy. It took two weeks for them to set it up, but they did. They don’t just deliver milk, my husband’s half n half, eggs, yogurt, cheese and butter. They also deliver bread, granola, coffee beans, & bacon. We used to use them before my kids went off to college. Now my big milk drinker is home going to a local college (online for now) so it makes sense again. Why did I not think of this sooner? I actually thought of this before the Pandemic hit but was too busy to set it up.
I have decided that Fridays are my Mondays now and Mondays are my Fridays. I am usually in a funk on Monday. I don’t exercise. I don’t want to get dressed. I get just a few things done on my list – make dinner. I have no motivation. Tuesday is a better Monday than Monday is. I am up to 5 days a week exercise. The plan was exercise M-F then if you feel like it another day then do it and I am up to 6 days. Well last week I had to exercise on Saturday because I didn’t on Monday. I am in the same situation this week. Tues, Wed, Thurs, and Friday exercise? no problem, some days more exercise, some days less. However not on Monday! Today I have already gotten on the Gazelle and listened to the Phit_n_Phat podcast and even put some HIIT into my session and I am thinking of doing some exercise YouTube videos later. Maybe it is because my daughter and husband are busy doing their work and school Monday mornings. I am the only one who doesn’t have to do anything. So I don’t. I guess this is the thing I need to work on now. Something compelling to do on Mondays. Hmmm. Do I really have to put this on my weekly goals?
I am now all out of my Food plan so I guess I need to do that. Since we have no overflow fridge I am afraid to plan/shop too far ahead.
@CupcakeCrusoe Wow nice woosh! It has been rainy here too but I went for that walk with my husband anyway. Hey Seattlites can deal with a little rain. We got spoiled by unusual beautiful weather earlier in April. Enjoy your Friday night.
@Tarzan37 I am glad you had a better week and are going to end the month strong!
@AlexandraFindsHerself what nice presents.
@wholebygrace Yes being kind and taking care of ourselves is something that works. It turns things around. You are making good progress!
@cesse47 Sorry it has been hard. Enjoy the dancing. I danced last Friday probably inspired by you. I am sort of scared of going out but when I do it is weird how just being out driving around is actually entertaining. I have thought that my family and I should just go for a long drive. We don’t have to have a destination.8 -

Yea, it's really strange. I used to go out anytime of the day or night for a variety of reasons. Now, I've been in lockdown since the 2nd week of March or so and am almost paranoid about going out the door. Our lockdown has been extended to middle of May. And, because of my age and lung issues, mine will probably be even longer than that. I like the idea of going for a drive though. My granddaughter will be home this weekend. Maybe I'll see if she'll drive us to the Nature Center and walk with me for a bit. I'd like to go sit on one of the docks in the Wetland area trail.4 -

Hi everyone it has been a while I since weight in . Welcome to all our new members this is a great place to be lots of wonderful support. Hope everyone is doing ok. I want to thank everyone for their kind words and support. At work things seems to be a bit quiter these days there are less patients coming in but we are still in the battle of our lives. Everyone has been so supportive with gifts of food and kind words. I also want to thank those out of state health care workers that leave their families behind and join the hospital to help on the front line, and all essential workers. For those out there that are demonstrating and want things to be back to normal please have patience. I wish this was a bad dream and we could all wake up and be happy with our love ones still with us and not so much pain and heart break. Hope everyone have a great weekend. May God keep us safe, healthy and comfort those griving souls in these troubling times.

My goals for this month are:
1. Walking 5 times a week and total 12 miles.
2. My job is a sit down job, so move more, stand instead of sitting or just get up and walk around for a few minutes.
3. I do a great job logging in which makes me realize I need to eat more regularly throughout the day so by end of day I am not faced with low cals/etc and thinking its the reason for my current plateau.
4. See a steady weight loss of any amount from week to week.9 -

April Goals ---
Log all food and beverages honestly
Drink at least 8 cups of water every day
Begin to exercise; and increase duration each week -- Need to improve here!!
Stay in touch with family and friends on a frequent basis
Get outside every day weather permits
Loss for this week might have been better if it weren't for those darn Hershey Miniatures! I still have about 4 zipper bags with 4 in each in the freezer. Think I'll tell Granddaughter to take them to her room ... or I'll give them away (soooooo painful)!!
Still on track with my goals. Definitely need to improve in the exercise area but have increased a bit each week so that's good. And, need to get more diverse in the foods I'm having. Overall, doing ok this month. Have a great day Everyone!!10 -
Happy Saturday!! I feel those of you feeling down. It was a couple of days I literally forced myself into walking. I reminded myself of the progress I’d made. The weather kept me in a couple of days, so I did videos.

Good afternoon!
I weighed in today instead of yesterday as I did last week. I will do my final weigh in for April on May 1st (Friday).
I have started to work through what I want my goals to be in May. A lot of us have been struggling with what the scale says. Some are doing all the right things and it's not moving and some of us are not perfect and are getting discouraged by the scale number. I know this week I was happy with my loss because well, I wasn't perfect. But I am proud of how far I have come and the changes I am making in my life.
Some of us listen to the Phit-n-Phat podcasts and follow Corinne Crabtree. There is a separate thread for anyone that would like to discuss anything about that but I wanted to place this here because it is important that we focus on WHO we want to be and WHY we are doing this and not just the number on the scale. Just a little blurb from one of her podcasts this week.
Do you want to weigh (insert # here)?
Or, do you want to wake up each day happy? Confident? Comfortable around food? Living your life instead of just getting by?
I decided to start working on who I wanted to be. I started self-improving by focusing on doing things that felt good, right, and doable.
I stopped self-fixing by picking numbers and doing anything I could to lose weight, disregarding if I even liked doing them or wanted to do them.
Right now it's important to ask yourself, "WHO do I want to be by May 31st" versus "What do I want to weigh by May 31st."
https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/setting-a-may-31st-goal/id1233384453?i=1000472497803
(warning: podcast has some bad language)
I know this thread is about setting goals and most of us put a number or goal weight we want to reach, and I am not saying we shouldn't do that.
My focus in May is going to be working on me and getting through this like I would any other crisis. Making a plan everyday (I did this in April and I feel like it helped). A realistic plan. I am going to work on only eating when I am hungry and stop when I am satisfied. I am going to prioritize sleep, moving and my water intake. Stay connected with others through this forum and reaching out to friends and family. I am going to take about 10 minutes this weekend to write down all of my why’s…why do I want to lose weight and remind myself of these why’s every time I want to sway from my goals and plan.
I highly recommend listening to this podcast. She is also on Facebook and does live posts every Wednesday. She normally puts the live posts in her podcast the Saturday after she does it live on Facebook. You can always go back and watch the lives or listen to it on her podcast. It really focuses on the mental side of weight loss which is very helpful during this time.
Know that I have read every post and you all inspire me! Thank you for being here! Anyone new feel free to friend me! I hope every one has a wonderful weekend!

@duebedm, I hope you're feeling better. I've been experiencing that as well, going through phases of craving stuff that I know is bad for me.
@AlexandraFindsHerself1971, that's a solid plan of action to have.
@KeriA, great losses. It's cool to look back on our numbers and see trends. And that's a great victory! I struggle with sweets as well, I don't keep certain foods in the house because I will eat them in one sitting.
@CupcakeCrusoe. what a wonderful number to see! And thank you for showing up for us, too
@Tarzan37, I'm glad to hear you've had a better week. Enjoy your weekend, too!
@wholebygrace, great loss, especially for TOM!
@cesse47, getting out is a pleasure these days! It feels so good.
@Curvybaja55, nice loss! And thank you for sharing the kind words and quote.
@trust463, great goals, my job is sit down and can be hard to remember to get up and move throughout the day.
@pamiede, hope the funk passes soon, mine feels like it's finally lifting. Sending hugs. Great news about your soon! And nice work with your losses, nice and steady.
@Zoejohnse91, welcome! Please feel free to add me.
@mmccloy12, thank you for sharing. That sounds like a wonderful idea for May--I actually could share a lot of goals that you have listed.
Welcome to anyone new! I've read through all the posts and am sending hugs to those struggling and high-fives to those feeling good. We're all doing the best we can right now in times like this. I plan to weigh-in tomorrow, fingers crossed for either a loss or maintaining the same weight, we will see! Have a great Saturday all5 -
I'm grateful for all of you active and posting - so difficult for everyone right now, and it has been comforting to me to see all of your victories, challenges, and coping strategies.
@MuttiNM - thank you so much for sharing your incredibly inspirational story!
@Candyn617 - congrats on 95 pounds - that is amazing!
@KeriA - I'm glad the scale is finally showing you the results you have been working for
@_confunded_ - I totally relate to not wanting to get on the scale frequently. I don't weigh myself that frequently because I just have a toxic relationship with the scale. Obsessing over the number doesn't do me any favors. I am trying to weigh myself once a month as well.
@mmccloy12 - Thanks for sharing the suggestion to focus on "Who do I want to be?" instead of "What do I want to weigh?" That's really great insight, and I am definitely going to think about that.
This week was okay for me. I made my step goals and did some strength training. I ate at maintenance calories some days and at a deficit other days. The days are always harder for me when it's cold & rainy outside. But I tried to focus on doing what I could. I felt very much like I wanted to eat everything in my kitchen the other day and curbed that by roasting a whole head of cauliflower with Frank's Red Hot sauce. 10 minutes out of the oven - I happily ate the whole thing! Kept me full the rest of the afternoon and kept me away from a high calorie binge. I have been trying to increase the number of floors of stairs I climb since this is good strength work and lower impact than running (I'm not a big runner because of knee challenges). Set a goal for myself to climb 50 flights of stairs today, and I've managed to do 52! So I will take that as a win and just keep focusing on the positives. Sending positive thoughts to everyone!
