Hello all,
Just asking if anyone has tried the cinnamon and honey tea mixture or the apple cider vinegar mixture. Has anyone of them worked for you? And how long did it take for you to find results. Just curious.

Neither help with weight loss.
What type of benefits were you hoping for?9 -
@harper16 hey! It was mainly curiosity. However reading up on it and seeing people taking these mixtures and it leading to weight loss is what I found interesting. Have you not heard of these working at all?1

No, but I also don't do fad dieting or look for quick fixes that teach one nothing about proper diet and nutrition.
If you are in a calorie deficit you will lose weight because of that, and not because you try drinking some crazy mixtures.7 -
They don't cause weight loss. Not only is there zero scientific evidence that those things help with weight loss, the only people who say otherwise are usually trying to sell you some overpriced garbage.12

I thought this was a recipe thread! Cinnamon and honey on baked apples?! Delish! ACV on a salad? Same!
As to their purported weight-loss benefits, I have neither an idea nor a comment.8 -
While carefully counting calories, I drank apple cider vinegar for weeks at a time. For other weeks at a time, still counting calories carefully, I didn't drink any at all.
It made no difference in my weight loss rate: Same either way. I felt no difference in appetite or cravings.
(I wasn't doing it for weight loss, I was doing it for other reasons, BTW.)
I'd expect the same with cinnamon and honey. I put cinnamon and blackstrap molasses in my oatmeal every day, and it doesn't have any noticeable effect on weight, either. (It tastes good, and has lots of nice potassium, though. And the oatmeal is really filling for me, though it doesn't do that for everyone.)
Sadly, there is no weight loss magic trick. We have to eat fewer calories than we burn to lose weight. We can count them or not count them, but either way that's what causes weight loss. As with so many other things, just gotta put in the work.
Best wishes!3 -
@AnnPT77 @harper16 @Terytha
Thank you to you all for replying. I, again, was simply curiously because that’s all sometimes that is blast over social media. I however am not on a fad diet. I am putting in work. On the dr.poon diet and down 31lbs. Just wanted some insight from some sane people. Thanks again!5 -
I don’t buy the idea that drinking apple cider vinegar makes you lose weight, and it certainly isn’t an effective weight loss strategy. But I love the brightness apple cider vinegar brings to dishes. I use it as a dressing for greens or on cucumber slices. I make pickled cabbage or pickled onions with it and have that as a taco topping. For me, adding apple cider vinegar (sparingly) to my dinner helps me feel satisfied and full. So I am a fan. But that is in the context of eating healthy foods, eating at a calorie deficit, and incorporating plenty of aerobic activity and strength training into my week.5

@Rosie3579 mmmm that’s sounds delicious. Never thought to use it like that. Personally I don’t like that stuff. Only used it once in a recipe in making pulled pork. Didn’t like it much0

I drank a shot of ACV once. My sister told me it was like a sour apple juice. I ended up throwing up all over my kitchen. Not recommended. But I drink black tea with honey every day. Doesn't help with weight loss, but it does taste good.1 -

That’s funny!0 -
Cinnamon and honey flavoured tea sounds nice - I like those sort of herbal teas.
I only drink them because I like them though -and they are a low calorie drink (if you only use a dash of honey)
No magic weight loss effects.2 -
I drink honey+cinnamon+ginger+green tea+ghee mix every day in the morning. It helps stomach and general health. Over the period of two years, I feel a lot of changes. These help fat cell activation and metabolism.
But weight loss happens if one eats healthy calories to the activity levels.
I drink ACV diluted with water. Taste feels ok over a period of time. Pour it straight to the throat avoiding the teeth because they will weaken.1 -

I've never seen any research that supports that statement. So you have anything?10 -

Green tea does have a small benefit in terms of metabolism (it was covered on the Physqnomics site a while back) but there are 2 caveats - (1) it is a very small boost and (2) just like the energy boost you get from caffeine, your body adjusts to the stimulus so it takes more and more to get the same benefit. I would guess that if this person has been doing this for 2 years and is not drinking gallons of green tea a day, any metabolic benefit he was getting has long since disappeared. Cinnamon might help with blood sugar control but the jury is still out on that one. I know of no studies that show any benefits to the other ingredients in the guy's morning drink.4 -

What is fat cell activation? Do they become hyperactive and jump around? And what does your metabolism do then? Storing energy as fat in a surplus is part of metabolism. Does this also happen in a deficit? Poor metabolism would probably be if you don't take energy from fat stores and/or not digest food at all but just poop it out again. Both doesn't sound healthy to be honest.6 -
If you want to help with weight loss drink some water before you eat. You will feel full faster. That is what I have found, for me anyway. Good luck.

If it works, it'll be because you were sipping something in lieu of (boredom) snacking on something higher calorie...which would work with any low-/non-calorie beverage you would slowly sip. If caffeinated tea, then might see some appetite suppression from the caffeine.1 -
or if you replace a high calorie drink like coke or 3 sugars and cream sweetend coffee or fruit juice - with a very low calorie one like herbal tea ( cinnamon, ginger, any random flavour) or water or even diluted ACV - sure, it could help in weight loss.
Just like swapping any high calorie food or drink for a lower calorie one would.
Low calorie X replaces high calorie Y = helps in weight loss.
works with any X or Y .

It seems like ingesting honey with the cinnamon would negate any benefit to blood sugar control.
I’m a type 2 diabetic. After reading a study which found a benefit to blood sugar control from drinking acv before carb heavy meals, I tried it for a few weeks since I already owned the acv. I test blood sugar regularly after meals. If there is any benefit, it’s too small to be detected by my experience.6 -

Ghee does it. It mobilises the fat cell for being combusted. It shrinks the fat cells. It is scientifically known.1 -

He some random guy on the internets and he said so. What other proof do you need???
You are straight from heaven. Read some earthly facts on ghee and fat cell.1 -

Care to share a link to a scientific backed study, because all I'm finding is a bunch of garbage.12 -
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3215354/
This is about as close to a study as I could find on ghee.. which has absolutely nothing to do with weight loss, it seems to be a study made to prove whether or not the consumption of this butter, in India and other countries has any significant health effects or benefits
And.. I could just suck at understanding what I read but it seemed to me that the rat studies... they found that there was slight increase in some things and decrease in others and I think the end result was the same as any other food... consume it in moderation.8 -
Two people can't read or cannot admit?
Read about ghee. It's well researched. If you can't find it, it's your own making.
And rat studies? Ayurveda is many 1000 years old.0 -
Well @JosephChacko I am not going to read anything from livestrong or timesofindia as that is not research.
If there is any actual research besides the one I posted, please post the link. Obviously you know where the research is since you claim it's there8 -

So you don't want to admit. I don't want to think that only nih website is gospel.
There is little bit of research from US Universities too on ghee.1 -

It's not about admitting, it's about actual scientific studies being done by scientists.. it doesnt have to be American scientists, but it definitely cant come from a blog style website that talks about their own opinion.
We have a lot of people here who think all kinds of things help weight loss like apple cider vinegar, for instance and there is all kinds of websites out there that will tell you it does, but the science proves otherwise.11
