Well I weighed in at 204, down from 208 a week or so ago, I can't seem to get past 204 lately. The crazy work schedule probably doesn't help. I've upped my protein intake and on a more consistent basis and feeling better about it. I was able to donate blood earlier this week, hematocrit at 40, when it's usually 36-38 (they want 38 to donate here) so yay!8

@mmdeveau Thanks for your concern! I was worried it was going to get worse, but it healed and is fine now! I never knew that dental issues could be so dangerous! Quite scary!

I live in Midland MI which if you haven't heard has been devastated by a 500 year catastrophic flood. We had over two days of extremely heavy rainfall. This on top of it already being flood season for us. We live downstream of 5 dams. The northern most dam was overflowing. The second also. The third and fourth breached entirely. The closest dam held but had full berm failure. This sent an unbelievable historic level of water onto us. My city evacuated more than 11,000 people safely. No reported deaths; minimal injuries thus far.
I went over two days with no sleep monitoring all the emergency sites, news reports, etc. to keep track of the flooding and evacuations. My brother was part of the first group evacuated and he moved to a daughter's home and they were evacuated about 3 hours later. They all moved to another daughter's house. I sent my granddaughter and her three dogs to her aunt's home about 30 miles east of us which would keep her out of harm's way. I had my car packed for my cat and I and in the driveway (in case of loss of power and garage not open). So, if it became necessary, I'd be ready to evacuate. I had a route planned with no bridges to ensure I'd not get stopped because of water over the road or bridges out. Luckily for me, the water crested at 35 feet (a 500 year historic record) so I did not need to evacuate. My water, power, and sewer are fine and fully functional. A true blessing!!
My brother estimates his home has at least 5 feet of water inside it. Governor Whitmer came to Midland yesterday, did an aerial tour of the devastation over many miles and several counties. Declared a State of Emergency. Graciously praised our Emergency teams for all their preplanning and for the ongoing evacuation efforts.
Now we are in a waiting game. Flood waters have to recede enough that damage assessments can be started. Then recede even more before homeowners can get in to assess their damages and start the recovery process. We're also praying that the dam closest to us, Sanford Dam, does not collapse. Recovery will be a very long process.
Please send your prayers to all those impacted by the dam failures and the resulting flooding in Gladwin County, Clare County, and Midland County. Thank you.12 -

Check on My weekly goals
1. To be working out in my gardens/yard a 1-2 hours a day (except Sunday)ββββββ
2. To walk my dogs everyday β (rainy weather)
3. To get my 10,000 steps on my fitbit ***Have been increasing them daily, but not there yet***
4. To control what and quantity I put in my mouth βββββ
5. Drink 80oz of water daily.
Surprisingly the scale is headed in the right direction. I have had two days that I did not watch what I ate and did not record my intake. I am back to recording and back to working on myself. I think I will keep these goals at least through the end of the month.
@changeforeverlj The weather has been rainy so unfortunately we have not walked in the last couple of days. Looks like we may have dry weather tomorrow and for a couple days, we are looking forward to our walks.
@speyerj Congratulations on reaching your goal.
@cesse47 I am so glad that you and your family are safe. Prayers that the rains stop and that the water recedes.
Hope everyone has a safe and wonderful weekend

@cesse47 I am so glad to hear that you are safe. Praying for everyone; such a difficult and scary time and situation.2

@Rosie3579 you are wonder women. Take care of yourself and your cub.
@PansyLass13 glad you are seeing signs of progress
@cesse47 so glad you weathered the flooding. Prayers on the way.
I took my daughter to her dental appointment and it went well. They had followed CDC and King County health guidelines plus. It was well thought out. I waited in the car.
Today I made Beef Cabbage Borscht and it was very good and healthy. I am now already half way through my book that I am using to migrate to ArcGIS Pro. I didnβt get any exercise though. I am trying to get all the water I can.
Hope I can have a normal day tomorrow with exercise, doing another Chapter, drinking water and keeping calories down. I am hoping I can do a Friday check-in.7 -

GOALS:
π΅οΈ Lose 5 lbs. Welp. I did see 187 one morning this week, and I'm ovulating, so there's an outside shot that I could make goal this month. It's an outside shot, but a shot nonetheless. And if I don't- that's okay. This month's weekly weights look terrible, but I've been consistently high on Fridays, which I guess is great for a reality check. When my weekly highs get lower, I know I'm doing something.
π΅οΈ Log everything in grams. β
π΅οΈ No more than 20% calories from treats every day. β
π΅οΈ Move every day. β That tropical depression we had has made it so gross outside. I haven't been doing my bodyweight exercises.
π΅οΈ Drink more water. β
π΅οΈBe kind to myself. β I'm not beating myself up about weights. I'm looking at it like learning and refining what I can do better/how I can make this as painless as possible, which has been very helpful.
π΅οΈ Treat myself in other ways than food. β I finished Vengeful, by VE Schwab, which I recommend (along with her first book in what will be a trilogy, Vicious). I've been playing a lot of Sea of Thieves at night. It is good for not snacking, because both my hands are busy. I also started and finished knitting a Christmas stocking this week, and started another one.
π΅οΈ Reduce sodium intake β
Goals overall: ββ ββ β β β
NSVs:
π΅οΈI'm in size 10 jeans! They're stretchy, and it was a bit of a squeeze, but they are on my body.
π΅οΈMy quads and calves look so great and I can feel them getting bigger and stronger. I love it.
I did better this week. Still snacking a little, but I'm more mindful of it, and I try to log all of it. The 16:8 is super helpful for that impulse, because even if I do snack, there's only a certain time I can, and it's limited. I haven't been great about exercise this week, what with it being rainy and gross outside EVERY DAY FFS (and my new gaming computer calls to me, let's be honest). The baby kept me up until 12 last night, and then I had to be up at 4. This is life, and it sucks, but I have to work with what I've got.
@KeriA thanks for the link about weight set points! I do feel as though 190 is one of my setpoints, which is why I'm having a hard time seeing it go away. When I did the percentages, I've only lost 12%, so not near 20, but still. When I've lost weight, I've always been stuck here for a while.
Today is another day! I'm going to make a homemade pizza tonight, and play more Sea of Thieves. Not sure what the weather will hold, so I'm going to dedicate to doing some new form of exercise inside. I've always wanted to do a forearm stand in yoga, I should probably, ya know, start practicing yoga to realize that goal. At all. My four year old will love doing yoga, I think. I'll make it a mother-daughter pursuit.
Have a great day everyone! Happy Friday!8 -
@cesse47 so glad you are safe! What a scary thing to go through.
@CupcakeCrusoe nice work on the size 10 jeans!! Must feel good!!3 -
Cesse47 - I am so sorry you are having to go through this! Sending prayers for you, your fam, and your community. I am glad you have an evacuation plan in place.3

does anyone notice getting more anxious if the scales go down? I don't know if both are the effect of doing less comfort eating, or whether my body notices the loss somehow and makes me jittery....I've noticed it a few times over the years and I think it's been the route to me eating more to get rid of the anxious feeling. Some skinny person amongst you, tell me it goes away after a while??!!!4
-
Orange quilt - I am not the skinny one in the group.... and I havenβt had anxiety about the scale going down in the past. (I did have problems with low blood sugar after strenuous exercise in the past though and that definitely caused anxiety and jitters. I learned to manage that by checking my blood sugar and eating the right amount for me.)
However, past weight loss did make me realize that losing weight did not fix all my problems and perhaps brought other problems to light.
Hang in there!5 -
Its take-out friday, our unofficial official order in dinner day. And I had half a Costco double chocolate chip muffin for breakfast so I won't be getting fast food tonight.
They're so good and also 700 calories. -_-
My shirts are getting looser and looser. I might have to hit up Walmart or a thrift store just for anything nice I can wear. My wedding anniversary is in three weeks, I'd like to dress up at least a little.8 -
I'm plateaued, but I am resolutely Not Worrying About It. I have too much else to do what with finding a house and being the person who packs the 4 bed/3 bath house we're in now.
Right now I'm reading a book and drinking ice water and telling myself sternly that I can wait to eat lunch. Really. I can wait 20 minutes. I don't need to eat just this minute.7 -
Wow @CupcakeCrusoe! Size 10!! I can't even imagine. I don't understand sizing. I'm 5' 9" and weigh 180 yet I am a size 14.
@orangequilt - I'm not exactly skinny, but losing weight has not caused me to become more anxious. I have lots of reasons to be more anxious these days, we all do. And you especially, with your upcoming travel plans. I do remember my mother, who was overweight most of her life after the age of 25, telling me that fat felt protective. Especially against sexual harassment. For her, weight gain was a coping mechanism after a traumatic experience, so losing it was an anxiety trigger. For me, I'm not that complicated. No trauma, just not enough self control and didn't previously have an effective way to manage it before.
@Terytha - I urge you to go out and buy something cute and form fitting. It will do wonders for your self-esteem. You've been wearing over-sized clothes for so long. You will emerge like a beautiful butterfly from your baggy sweater cocoon! Happy Anniversary!10 -
Happy Friday!!
I weighed in after 9 days of logging. The scale went up 0.8 lbs. π I did well staying under or just above my calorie goal. I might need to adjust my goal a bit (even though I made it less than what MFP suggested)
My Fitbit calorie adjustment has also given me calories back each day (I am not eating them back. It usually doesnβt adjust till the next day).
This week hope to continue my progress of logging every day. Staying a little under my calorie goal, and moving around! (Walking, cleaning, exercise) πͺπ»8 -
Hello Everyone and Happy Friday! I am so glad that it is a Holiday weekend for us here in the States. I think I am going to use an hour of vacation today and cut out of work earlier. I need a break.
You all seem to be doing so well!
@procolorer Great loss!
@speyerj Awesome job on your goal and an inspiration to us all!
@MuttiNM It is still a nice loss, although I know how hard it can be when you are doing everything right and you expect so much more. Sometimes it just takes time to catch up.
@PansyLass13 great loss and hooray for glowing skin!
@cesse47 I am so sorry about the flood and its impact on your family. We will continue to think of all of you and hope for swift intervention
@CupcakeCrusoe Nice loss and even better attitude about hitting your May goal!

GOALS:
π΅οΈ Continue with my C25K program (currently on week 5). π
π΅οΈ Try to incorporate a fruit or veggie in every meal. π
π΅οΈ Lose at least 5 pounds
π΅οΈ Hit Active every single day this month per Apple Watchπ
π΅οΈ Be present with my family (i.e. put down my phone)
π΅οΈ Read at least 4 books this month (it helps with my stress)
I have been doing pretty well with my goals. Tomorrow is my 20 minute run with C25K and I need to psyche myself up for that. I should hit my 4 book goal this weekend, but I still need to work on being present with my family. It is hard to not want to speed up the weight loss, but I know if I do not eat back some of my exercise calories, especially on days when I run, I will be miserable. Enjoy your weekends!9 -
Hi everyone! Sorry to be MIA, my summer course started and work is quite busy right now as we have a summer program to gear up for. I have been staying at a steady 239, I actually think I'm between 238.5-239 because my scale only weighs in 0.5 increments so I don't get to see any ounces besides that. I would like a new scale, but it is not in my grad school budget at this time, hopefully soon! I plan to weigh in tomorrow hopefully. I plan to mow the lawn today which is a workout in itself, so that might be exercise for the day.
@janicemlove, 4lbs in a week is a great loss though, especially at the beginning. It may slow down randomly, but you're still doing a great job!
@cesse47, I'm sorry to hear that, I hope you're staying safe as well as your family. Sending you positive thoughts.
@bellanbear, yay! And great work meeting your goals.
@KeriA, hope you're doing well
@CupcakeCrusoe, nice loss! I love reading your posts, they always encourage me when I start to get a bit into my head. Enjoy your yoga!
@orangequilt, I also have that feeling. I think mine stems from seeing numbers that I have not seen before, so it is kind of like discovering my body again. It is a weird, but unique feeling.
@Terytha, that sounds yummy though! I hope you find a cute outfit for yourself.
@rhsdancer5, you got this! It is always frustrating when the scale doesn't cooperate.
@wholebygrace, great loss and progress on your goals! I recently started reading again and I fell in love. I used to do it all the time, but then I started slacking and it feels good to be in the habit again.
