Yes @mainelylisa that is a great name for a band up here in our neck of the woods. I do believe there are a multitude of outside eating places now open in your area. A list was produced for each town recently. We should take advantage of it soon.😉3

Beleive me.....they looked nothing like the ones I used to see being hand dipped at the fair long long ago(45 years approximately).
It was just a fleeting moment of fried food cravings. I paid for it with stomach trouble for a couple days from all that grease.
Back to spinach and chicken quesadillas.😎

Day 8 of June / 7AF
Took a look back to my 2018 drink calendar. Even though I began my hard knocks less drinking journey in Jan 2018, I had some tough months once Summer hit.
June of 2018 was the worst of all my attempts to drink less, I do not want to slip back there. It is little reminders such as this drinking calendar that help keep me in check. When my tablet froze up this past Winter my first thought was not the photos that were on it, but that I could not retrieve my drinking less calendar I had created. Thankful my tablet was fixed and unfrozen.
Have a great day all.7 -
4 drinks/8 days. No issues to report! Lacing up to go out for a run and be good to myself today.
@lilann1961 , hope you have a Happy Birthday!
@dawnbgethealthy , I can relate to the Wanderlust! I am a serial Tripadvisor junkie these days. Dreaming of being quarantined in Hawaii.....4 -
Happy 40th, @lilann1961! I was thinking we had the same birth year (1961), but then I did the math and obviously not! Enjoy your day and do something fun and silly. We seem to forget how to have pure fun the older we get. Here's a smile for everyone's Tuesday. Wishing you lots of splashing! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ks9e_Nkeqg9

Our small township played The Sisterhood of the Traveling Wine/Booze for the past two weeks. It’s a grownup version of ding, dong, ditch. I won’t get into the details of how it’s played. (Ask if you want...We had over 100 active people!)
One gift I got was a tiny airplane bottle of tanqurey gin. That got me started on a spree of gin + tonics for the past week. I even splurged on a local distillery; it’s been written up and won awards for the past year.
So my less alcohol hasn’t quite worked out in June. Every day is a chance to reboot. Wish me luck!11 -
Hey everyone! I've been a little bit checked out and have been indulging more than I would like. It's a little bit sad. But hey, I'm about half the time AF. Most of my drinking seems to happen as an afterthought to the day, on days I don't plan to drink. There's always an excuse. June 5, husband got home and we had cocktails together. June 7, I had to open a bottle of white wine for a recipe and then drank the rest. Last night, we had a family happy hour zoom meeting and it was too hard watching everyone else enjoying their cocktails or wine so I caved.
Today I will be Alcohol Free.
June 1: AF
June 2: AF
June 3: AF
June 4: bottle o' bubbly for no particular reason
June 5: 2 drinks
June 6: AF
June 7: 3 drinks

So far in June 4/8 days AF10 -
I am Dawn. Turning 60 in September.
I live in SE BC, Canada.
I started on this thread November 28.18 - at that time I was having drinks every day. That first AF day was very hard! I vowed to have 1AF day per week to start, then progressed to 2AF days per week etc.
My goal now (that is working for me) is 16-20 AF days per month. I have been keeping within that since last October. I am comfortable and happy with that goal.
I have never ever been able to exceed 3 drinks or I throw up. There is moderation for you : - P
I log in here every day with a running calendar/journal of the month at a glance. It helps me.
Monday June 01.20 - AF
Tuesday June 02.20 - AF - Very long, very stupid day, my first back working for a company that I loathe. This is why i always designated Tuesdays as my drinks days in the past. However, I am coming toward the end of a 100 day weight challenge thread, and that is my motivation to stay "dry" for at least the next 5 days. In the previous round of it I lost 1.7 pounds in 100 days. Hoping to lose 2 pounds this time. (I know, painfully slow, but better than gaining, and it really does get more difficult to lose weight with aging.)
Wednesday June 03.20 - AF - Really wanted drinks after working hard in my yard. Didn't.
Thursday June 04.20 - AF - Ditto to yesterday, really really wanted a couple of drinks. I hate being back to work, and thought a couple of drinks tonight would relax me. Hanging tough to hopefully lose another 0.02 pounds over the next few days.
Friday June 05.20 - Having a couple of drinks. My last half hour digging and planting seeds was raining. I decided there and then that I would have a few drinks tonight. My weight was up 2 pounds today for no reason, so sacrificing having drinks really didn't appeal to me today. I have had my half a drink from my freezer lol, and have just poured a second. It is nice for me. Watching "Caribbean Life" on HGTV where they are always having yummy looking cocktails, and I am happy to not be white knuckling it resisting having some drinks today. All good : - )
Saturday June 06.20 - Hadn't planned on a drinks day, started out at a friend's place (who is a wine drinker) with water, and then caved. First time to have 2 drinks days in a row since the beginning of the pandemic. I will get back on track.
Sunday June 07.20 - AF - Feeling back on track, I think that I just wanted to be self-indulgent for a couple of days. Next planned drinks day is Wednesday or Thursday.
Monday June 08.20 - AF - Browsing holiday trips for my 60th, could be a pipe dream, who knows if travel will be possible in September. Watching too much HGTV (Caribbean Life, Bahamas Life, Mexico Life, Mediterranean Life, Beach Hunters etc.) and getting wanderlust.
Tuesday June 09.20 - AF - Had a horrible workday, as in every Tuesday now that I am working again for that one company (still layed off from the others at this point). This is why Tuesday were always my designated drinks day. Toughing it out, I will have drinks on a happier day...this week.
7AF days out of 9 days so far.8 -
@MissMay: For Less Alcohol I've been AF 6/9 days in June. I started Take a Break on May 21st? Anyway, I'm 20 days in to the 30 day Take a Break goal. I've been AF 15/20 days (75%!!). Even better, when I did have drinks, it was never more than 2 and a couple of times only one. Not bad for someone who last winter was drinking a bottle of wine/day! The math looks weird because we can start Take a Break any day of the month.
@mainleylisa: the dancing dog!!! We're about to adopt a disabled Dachshund. He comes w/ his chair for his hind legs. Never had a dog with a cord injury before but by all accounts (foster mum, head of the rescue, pilot who flew him to Utah from LA) he is a sweetheart. And at 5 years old Gunner is still very energetic w/ or w/o his chair. I'm already looking for small fat tires to put on his chair for trail hiking. The little guy in my profile pic died at home very suddenly last FEB. It was a heart breaker
Namaste10 -
@mainelylisa that dancing dog is hysterical. I had to keep clicking play.
@docmum ok I see the number count now for take a break, thanks. Your story about every night drinking is similar to mine. I got caught up in the glitter and fun when I started dating my now husband. I was not drinking at the time, had been AF for over a year...then WHAM! 6 weeks after that all it took was for me to hear "OH YOU CAN HAVE JUST ONE, IT WON'T HURT YOU". Then I was drinking everyday and drinking heavy, at least 6-8 drinks.
How wonderful your going to adopt a disabled Doxie. I am a huge supporter for Old Dogs-New Digs. Where you can adopt or foster older dogs that have a lesser chance of being taken into a home because of their older age or health.
@Samand303 my home made quesadillas were delicious last night. Hope your reboot went well. New days to begin over are very forgiving.
@shorepine I was having the same occurrences with my drinking in April and May. Not falling down drunk, just more than I wanted to be consuming at that time for no reason. But your still doing great, AF half the month is👍👍
Awesome staying AF @dawnbgethealthy on a Tuesday. How is the gardening coming along?
ME: Day 9 in June / 8AF8 -
4 drinks/9 days...finally lost half a pound. And I worked so hard at it! I know it's so little, but then I think, if I had drank more, I would have gained 1-2 lbs by now. Goal is to lose another 1.5 lbs this month.
Wine devil is not allowed to get in my way.
Like reducing drinking, sometimes progress is slow and happens on it's own schedule, the important thing is to keep moving towards the goal every day.10 -
6:27 am in Vegas another 24 💖7

Hi everyone. Thanks for the support! I honored yesterday's commitment to be alcohol free. It felt good. I like seeing those "AFs" on my calendar.
June 1: AF

June 5: 2 drinks
June 6: AF
June 7: 3 drinks
June 8: 2 drinks

So far in June 5/9 days AF
Have a good day everyone!10 -
Hi all! This past weekend I slacked off on all my counts (weight, drinks, golf scores) so I’m back to doing all that logging and filling in those numbers.
Today is only the 2nd AF day of the month, and that’s not bothering me at all for some reason! I am not beating myself up for choosing to have a gin and tonic on the patio or wine with dinner. I guess because now it’s a choice, not a mindless habit.
Outdoor dining FINALLY opened this past weekend. It was so wonderful to be served dinner , see friends, feel normal again. I absolutely understand some people are still not comfortable being out and about just yet, but for those of us who are, hoo boy are we happy!!!!!10 -
June: AF 7/10 days. Take a Break: AF 16/21 days. @Womona: Yep - absolutely do not beat yourself up. No self-shaming allowed. That said, you'll know when you've had enough, whether it's in one night, one week, a month, or a lifetime.
@MissMay: Our previous dog was a senior. As it turns out we were looking for a companion for Gunner dog when an 11yr old, healthy female short hair doxie was dropped off at the rescue. So now we'll be picking up two dogs this weekend! I'll have to change my profile pic8 -
@dawnbgethealthy this pandemic has put a damper on your quest to visit all those sports venues you spoke about last year. I hope you can plan and get a way for your 60th in September.
Our b-days are only a few weeks apart, I am sure mine will be low key like it was in 2019.
The plan was to spend September in Italy, me turning 60 and my sister turning 70. We knew quite awhile ago that it wouldn't be happening. She lives 12 hours from me.
I will go somewhere for sure, even if just a few towns over to be "somewhere" on my 60th.
Yup, no live sports.
Garden photos to come : - )7 -

Wednesday June 10.20 - AF - Had an N/A beer on the porch, really did not do the trick. Had a good scale victory this morning though, so I am abstaining...today. Half way to my 16. No Mojito girl parties at my place just yet.
8AF days out of 10 days so far.7 -
@Womona I hope I can choose to have a cocktail now and then eventually--glad you're enjoying patio time!
@Doxmum for adopting--esp older and/or disabled pups. You rock. And I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my Kenzo last fall after 14 years. My animals were all adopted--there been some difficult times (one is not wired properly, lol), but so much love.7 -
