The month of June I changed workout programs. At the end of the month I got on the scale and took measurements. I gained 6 pounds but lost 2.5 inches. I will always take the inch loss of weight.12

For years I've wanted to get my splits flat. I've been working on it for 35 days today and I just got my calls touching the floor today. The first step is a calf touch, the second is calfs resting on the ground, then thighs touching the ground, after that it's thighs resting and then your basically there.
Also hoping to lose some of the tention in my hips and I have definitely been noticing a difference in those. 🙌 Progress!12 -
NSV. I got my high school grad dress on. Doesn't fit well, I'm bustier than I was then, but it zipped. Better still I bought a size 8 denim skirt today to eventually shrink into. Well it fits now.15

I was able to do reverse crunches today... and stretch my legs out all the way and lift them up again! I couldn't believe it to be honest, I was like WHAAAAT as I did them😂 I may not be able to do many of them, but that's such a visible difference it made me feel good! I also got a 10 pound dumbbell... and it was tough to do my usual arm exercises, but I managed it. I feel so excited and proud of myself to see that I'm actually getting stronger!12

NSV instead of watching the scale creep up as if it were out of my control, I am back on MFP and logging and making a game plan to address the weight.
NSV Giving away 2 quarts of ice cream we made on the Fourth of July. It was mocha flavored; it was delicious. I ate a 1/2 cup serving every day for the last four days. I fit it into my plan. Logged and came in under goal each day. It was delicious. And now I’ve decided that I would like to spend 276 calories on other things. Rather than deprived, I fill liberated, plus it always feels good to share.17 -
Today I completed a 100-day walking challenge with a grand total of 457 miles! This is a big deal considering prior to March 30, I walked less than 1000 steps most days.28

I have a few:
1. I can now cook all my meals without hating the idea of cooking or looking after myself
2. All these are from scratch meals, and take me tops 40 mins a day of whatever i want to eat, and everything's fresh and spontaneous. I never did know I could be so kind to myself.
3. I have more energy now from eating well and actually notice how sluggish ramen or store pizzas or biscuits make me feel. I feel like an athlete who complains their diet was holding them back
4. Where i was winded walking up and down the stairs, i have slowly been able to add back actually exhausting activities like feeding community dogs for nearly an hour daily in addition to the usual cleaning and cooking.
5. Eating local, seasonal, fresh, and cooking, has given me a more peaceful and less anxious overall aspect too: cooking is a good anti anxiety tool, and learning this has been revealing.
6. Gardening: never thought it was for me but I'm doing it now with zest, watching videos to learn how to, and trying out new hacks to get it done! And watering plants on time.

Week one:
1. stayed within my calories everyday.
2. 7 inches down overall in my measurements.
3. when I got the very bad news that my cholesterol was 345!, I was able to put off the medication for a bit to see if the diet + exercise will bring it down. Crossing fingers!15 -

I've lurked on MFP for a long time but had to finally comment to let you know that I really love your post! I'm so happy for your realizations and for the care you're taking of yourself. I also love both gardening and cooking and find them such nourishing activities (even when the plants sometimes die...it's also good to realize that sometimes you don't have to blame yourself when you tried your hardest and something still goes wrong). My non scale Victory would have to be only having about two migraines a month now versus almost every day since I've been eating healthier and cleaner. Also being able to feel my vagina when I'm laying down.😂 it might be TMI but I'm sure proud of it.12

I refused to give myself the day off and my grumpy 5000m row turned out to be over 1 minute faster than my previous best efforts!
Just the pick up I needed as the scales have been solidly refusing to shift and I was starting to question if any of this was worth it.12 -
My most recent NSV.... Simple. I have just restarted MFP to lose the excessive weight I have put on!15

I'm in the top 10% of the over 260K people who have joined this challenge I've walked over 400 miles this year. Last year I missed the goal due to an injury in August, this year I'm getting the miles in any day I can to avoid this happening again.

My shoes are SO BIG.
I swear they fit when I bought them. I've dropped like 2 shoe sizes!11 -
I bought chub rub shorts* about a month ago. I don’t remember if I tried them on and they were fine or if I just went by the size label. I buy quite a lot of stuff from this store and am usually fairly consistent in their sizing. Either way, today I wore them for the first time and they are too big. They feel comfortable when I’m still, but chub rub shorts don’t do their job if the legs ride up and don’t protect from chub rub.
I don’t know which of these two NSV options happened, but one of them did:
1) I lost enough weight from my thighs in a month to make this size-sensitive garment too big even though it fit fine a month ago
2) I have lost enough weight overall to mess with my perception of size labels
I’m leaning towards option 1 as I’m at less than 10lbs total loss, which shouldn’t mess with my perception yet.
*for those not in the know, they are plain stretchy shorts you wear under dresses and skirts to prevent chub rub (or alternatively to protect your private parts from peeping creeps and pervs), pretty much just very ugly longer-legged underpants with high waist13 -
I got a couple of nice compliments at the gym tonight (of the "you're looking good" variety). Also, I pushed myself with higher weights in my class and I did better than I expected!15

After a terrible run on Tuesday plagued by cramps, I went out after work today wondering what the run would bring. I needn't have worried. My fastest 10k to date!

I bought my first bikini since I was a teenager. Not the flattest tummy but I don’t look gross and have the confidence to wear it outside!29

I haven't binged in almost 2 weeks! That's a pretty long time for me so I'm very excited.39

Kind of an odd NSV, but...I didn't go grocery shopping last week. I decided to see if I could use the food currently in the house, since I had a bunch of odds n ends that I could put together into things. The real challenge was keeping to my deficit while still feeling satisfied. It worked out quite successfully, and now I know that I can still keep to my deficit during times when I may not have the exact foods I'm used to (because I had used them up already the week before). It was excellent practice for maintenance.36

This is the best thread!
For me it’s little, but I was confident enough to wake up early do my YouTube works at my in-laws. I got my workout in and I’m still on schedule for the program I’m going through!20 -
I went to a thrift store today and bought two pairs of shorts without being able to try them on -lo and behold, they were tight. The NSV part is that while I’m a little bummed, I know that a piece of fabric doesn’t take away from my efforts of becoming healthier and doesn’t affect my self-worth!15

So quickly another NSV for me! Ran a half-marathon distance this morning - only my second ever at that distance - and got a time of 1hr 39 minutes. Not bad for a 51 yr old that only started running 18 months ago.
Now, of course, I can't move. Not because of the running, because I rewarded myself by ordering pizza! Still under my calorie goal for the day, though.

I was catching up wit me sister in law at a family event today.
She asked how I had been spending my time while furloughed and I mentioned I’d taken up running. She said “it shows and it looks really good” 😊
I also sat in a classic canvas-and-wood beach chair (you know, the flimsy looking ones with long piece of fabric in a wooden frame) without being concerned that it would not take my weight. Last year I would definitely not have risked it!21 -

I did some strength training this morning! I needed an NSV because the scale hasn't budged in a while. And my first pair of goal jeans aren't fitting even though I have lost some weight in the last few months.
I tend to wake up early in the summers naturally and just lying in bed on my phone or reading. But then yesterday I had an epiphany - why don't I strength train at that time instead of trying (and 90% of the time failing) to fit it in in the afternoon? It makes a lot of sense. When it is not so hot outside I go for a hike early in the morning. And last summer I went swimming rather than hiking. But this year, I have been wanting to swim but it hasn't gotten very hot yet so I think the water is still too cold. But I just suddenly realized yesterday I can still be working out.
So here's hoping I can continue this!20 -
Went wild swimming in Loch Lomond with my friends and son this week. I managed to get into my wetsuit without a major struggle for the first time in 2 years, very happy
