I've lost over 50 pounds and love exercise! I've done it all from a half marathon, rock climbing to yoga Depending on my weight a d fitness level I just wanted to suggest that if you are lifting weights, you may not lose pounds as quickly but you will look fab and toned! Instead of rewards every 10 pounds which may be discouraging I would suggest rewards for inch loss right now or reduced clothing sizes. My waist is 27.5 and hips are 35....my bras are too big and my weight is "stuck" at mid 130s I'm not upset but I feel ready to focus on weights training myself now! Yoga burns the inches, walking burns the fat. When I resume weights this fall....My focus will be on measurements Favourite rewards for me have been a massage at 10 pounds, fitting into my smaller clothes, breakfast or a nice dinner out, manicures.....anything at all that makes you feel special! Think about inch loss Instead though now . My original NSV I came on to post is that my loose skin I had on the inside of my elbow, the only tiny area I had any, I've noticed is GONE!! It could be all those downward facing dogs helped! 😆

Hi! Yoga with Adriene I started a few years ago and it was difficult as a heavier person but stuck with it and now it's so much easier I should have sayed It really tones my body When I don't do it for a while notice the inch loss stops When I am disciplined and do her 30 day challenges the inches melt off quickly I have completed 5 and 4 of them twice I enjoy repeating them once because I enjoy the production so much and am currently repeating my 5th I think beginners should check them out and focus on the series that feature 20 minute workouts You don't need to join a gym to start moving and see results As you tone and lose pounds and inches you naturally gravitate towards needing more exercise to see results 😉

Don’t discount yoga. Yoga can be a terrific workout. It depends on what you put into it, same with most exercise regimens.

I do hot power yoga several times a week. “Flows” can include several pushups per series, head stands, chin stands, arm balances, balance sequences. You do one side and then repeat on the other side.

I always find it kinda cool when I do a cardio class, and they’re incorporating the same stuff we do in yoga. A burpee is just a jumpback and an extra jump. Mountain climbers- just an arm balance prep.

We have gals bringing their fit boyfriends to yoga pretty often for their very first yoga class. They saunter in confidently and knowingly, and slink out, sobered, having had their butts handed to them on a platter. It can be very entertaining.

One of our students is a former pro football player, apparently of some note (Heck if I’d know!) He’ll be the first to tell you he can’t always keep up, but he’s been coming for years.

A young instructor brought her super fit firefighter boyfriend to take her class. I swear he was crying at the end. There was definitely some moaning coming from his mat. But bless his heart, he did come back for more. True love.

I LOVED this! I've also taken hot yoga classes and power yoga, etc thru a yoga membership I once had. So many inspiring people! One young pregnant woman disappeared for a while, then I stopped going. When I returned I didn't recognize her and all she had done was yoga to bounce back into shape. After 2 years the studio became so popular it became unenjoyable as each class was so full. After a vacation where I did yoga by the pool every morning in a class I was inspired to find a better way and found home yoga with Adriene. I love the difficulty without the jarring. I think yoga is confused with stretching, but what a fantastic workout for everyone! Our bodies thank us for taking a chance on this "stretching class". 😉

Thanks for the explanation. As in the post below, I had associated yoga more with gentle stretching, had forgotten about Ashtanga :).

Another non scale victory. When I was obese, I always slept on my side. Sleeping on my back I always felt my airways constricted or I worried about snoring. Now I can sleep on my back easily, in fact I often wake up that way. Just goes to show how losing weight can help.

I had to buy a new dress for a graduation at the end of June (the one I wore for the last 3 yrs is too big.) They didn't have any in the Women's section of JCP, so went to the misses. I easily fit in the XL size, and could actually squeeze into a size 16! (used to be 24W, and that was getting tight.)

Instead of buy a dress because it fit, I had a choice of three, and chose the style/color I liked. (the size 16 was a little too tight for my taste, and a little short - too bad since I really like the color).

I also did buy a couple of large blouses that were on sale. They fit fine, although I like my clothes a little on the loose side. Likely going to be perfect in a couple of months!
