I started going through my fall/winter type clothes and most of them (all the pants) literally just hung on me. It’s good, in that I’m a lot smaller than I was last year but it looks like I’m going to have to replace pretty much everything.
I came to the conclusion that I have too many clothes and as I do replace things I will be much more discerning. I was still working last year, so my lifestyle has changed. I’m looking into a “capsule type” wardrobe with interest.

I am here, having to start from the ground up on my wardrobe for the fall. I also plan to be discerning and start with a capsule type wardrobe.

It's basically a wardrobe that is relatively small in number of pieces and contains basics that all work with each other in combination. This NSV requires a bit of explanation! (Sorry, it is long)

Christmas 2011: I saw a picture of myself and woke up. I was "about" 243lbs.
January 2012: The hubs and I started going to the gym. We were slowly making progress, but nothing super significant. The biggest gains of that month was changing our habits.
February 2012: (more like late Jan, really) My bestie showed me MFP. This opened up the world.

Fast forward to 2013. I'd taken off about 80lbs, give or take general fluctuations. I was feeling good, but I'd reached a point of fatigue. I'd changed my food intake, my habits, and I wanted to do something different. I'd had success in the fall of 2012 with the 30 days shred, and at the time, I was heavily reading the MFP forums. I purchased the New Rules of Lifting For Women because I "felt" like I was in a plateau. (I wasn't; my "younger" self knew nothing, but it did push me to change). I started going to the gym with my coworker.

Now, back to the NSV. After a year of doing the various routines in the NROLFW, I'd reached the pinnacle of my progress: 120lb dead lift, 90lb back squat, and 40lb hand weights. For me, this was amazing. I've always been weak and lazy. XD My grip is my barrier -- and back then, even more so. My legs and arms could handle more weight, but my fingers not so much. I've always had tiny, weak hands.

Around this time 5 years ago in 2013, I stopped strength training. We went on vacation and my coworker's wife had their baby. The holiday season is busy for me at work, and I got out of the habit. Now, I have a new coworker friend that I've been going out on walks with because we're sharing the trials of weight loss and making better choices. She suggested going back to the gym and I was like "COOL, YAY!" because the work gym is amazing. I've kept my membership (well it's a perk XD), anyway.

TODAY. I am still weak, BUT, I did not drop back to 0. My deadlift today was at 60lbs and my back squat at 45lbs. Half what I used to do, but half is still better than "I can barely lift the bar wtf." I didn't try the hand weights, but I was consistently between 20-50lbs on the weight machines, depending on the exercise.

So for me, despite doing *nothing* strength wise for literally 5 years, this is an NSV. We're going to start going, but now I need to go buy gym clothes since the ones I have don't fit! XD

I have been doing this for 2 years and I will never go back - it is amazing and I save so much money, plus added bonus is I no longer am receptive to the shopping mania that seems to have infected everyone around me...

My bike and I have travelled over 9,000 miles together. I actually stopped during my ride today when I was five miles from home to photograph this momentous occasion:



Here's to the next 9,000 and beyond . . . including numerous brake blocks, tyres, tubes, punctures, cables, chains, sprockets, etc. I think that the only parts that haven't been changed are the frame, one wheel and the pedals (and they are very worn now).

Planning a 50-mile ride on Sunday (as long as the weather remains dry-ish). Really looking forward to it

I'm laying on my sofa watching television, and I realize I can do this with my legs. At my heaviest I could barely cross then without using my arms to help hoist one over the other.

While on vacation in Philadelphia, I stood at the base of the steps to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. That's the steps that Rocky Balboa/Sylvester Stallone ran up in his movies. Well, this 60 year old woman decided on a whim, "I bet I can run up these too". So off I went, bounding up 72 steps without even getting winded. Once at the top, I did the obligatory arms raised over my head with clenched fists just like Rocky. Just as I was about to start down the steps, a gentleman came over to me smiling and says "Wow, you just ran up all of those steps!" That just made my day. 1 year ago, I could've never done that. I guess, being down 60 lbs and probably in the best shape of my life and something to do with it.

I found a great app called All Trails and was able to try out a few new places to walk. During one of those walks, I missed the markings on the trees so I wound up taking the wrong trail. All was good because instead of doing a 2.8 mile walk, I wound up doing a 3.37 mile walk. Woohoo! Surprisingly, I was thrilled by the mistake.

Yay!!! That's awesome. Of course I don't mind, I love it when I realize that I'm not the only one that is as happy as a clam over twisted legs thinking "coolest thing ever!!!". *High five*.

I had to order some new work pants and they are a size medium! They fit perfectly when they arrived today and I tried them on. So exciting!

NSV for me is would be looking forward to going to the gym and working out. Changing the "having to workout" into a "wanting to workout." Though I still have my lazy days of course.
