Success/Struggles: I am starting a new chapter with maintenance. While essentially nothing has changed - I still weigh myself, I still log, I still weigh my food, I still have macros and calorie limits - it still feels very much like uncharted territory and I will confess, I am am afraid of failing. I am afraid of getting complacent in my tracking. I am afraid of my own hubris getting in the way of my success. I am afraid that something, like an injury, will interrupt my exercise regime and that will be my undoing. I have had lots of success in weight loss, but no success in maintaining so far. But I need to remind myself, I have lots of experience with what didn't work. And so I can learn from it and use that to my advantage. I've been waiting for the day when I can post my weight here to help me monitor my progress at remaining the same.8 -
Hi! My name is Kristen. And I struggle to maintain my weight. I have had great success losing/gaining, but I'm hoping this group helps me be more accountable. I weigh only 1x week on Sundays, so that's when I'll check in. My 2 goals in 2020 are to not let the scale go above 153 and weigh in EVERY Sunday for the WHOLE YEAR. This seems easy to most, but I get lazy and make excuses why I don't need to weigh in and then all of a sudden everything in my closet has shrunk. LOL

Successes: There was a real in person 5K to run!!! And even in July I ran 45 seconds off my PR! We're going to smash those PRs in the fall!!! Weight is up a little into my maintenance range. Might try to only cut a bit for marathon season.

Successes: I’m maintaining!
Increasing my exercise level by about 7%. Split my late afternoon walk/hike into 2 exercise times (AM & a little before sunset) to
limit UV exposure & the negative impact of high heat. Also gives me TWO hits of endorphins to handle stress etc.
Struggles: None that are exercise, food, or scale related.
STILL waiting for some important lab test results...
I pro-actively decreased the work stress. I realized some of it came from my choosing to overwork. Stopped that.

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: My weight this week was still on the high end (lots of Thai food, Chinese food, and pizza doesn't help with that!). However, my weekly steps were ~95k as I got outside for some activities. I'm hoping to keep the increased activity up, and I'm also going to try to get back on track with eating a bit better. I'm starting with getting some fruit back into my week.6 -

Success/Struggles: Still maintaining so that's a success. No real weight struggles. It took me a while to find my maintenance weight and calories but it seems like I finally stopped losing and now I seem to be holding pretty steady.

Successes/challenges:
I'm made improvements in sleep (my body is now often naturally waking up right before my alarm does!), have been great with exercise and was doing well with my eating up until the weekend.
On the weekend had a struggle, being badly influenced by my partner, who doesn't eat the same as I do. While I stuck to the right foods, I ended up snacking between meals and not fasting for as long as I usually would overnight. We also ate way more dark chocolate than should have. It's okay to do once in a while, but it also reminds me why I have struggled for so many decades - when you share your life with someone, end up compromised.5 -

Success: I ran my first 1/2 marathon on Saturday with a 10:27 pace. More proud of that accomplishment than losing weight. Of course, I could not have finished at that pace without the weight loss.
Struggles: I ate more carbs than normal the week before the race and it shows on the scale. I don't think I ate over maintenance, but I am also still trying to figure out how many calories keeps me in maintenance.5 -

Success/Struggles: Enjoyed my 4th of July weekend immensely! Pretty much didn’t log for 2 days, which is the first time I’ve done that in almost 5 months. But, that being said, I’m literally up only 1 ½ pounds after all of that. Back on track yesterday so I should see that drop off in a day or two tops I’m guessing. Got back to running yesterday (it had been like a week or more) and knocked out 3 miles which was nice. Weight training is going well (nothing massive, just something light). Fitting into my old medium sized shirts again!

Success/Struggles: weight is slowing coming off but even more importantly to me the inches are going down and muscle is building. .. i will always struggle with loving the wrong foods and not liking the better foods but i am trying to eat better with what i do like. and also to love me NOW not wait for a better me.3 -

Successes/Struggles: Did a bunch of digging and mulching yesterday, our back yard make over is almost complete. Very sore today, but it's nice to see progress. Everything else is pretty much same old, same old. Still working at home, doing minimal errands. Coronavirus is spiking like crazy all over our state. I think I'll stay put for a while.

Successes: experimenting with tofu more, found it cheap at the international market! Want to try it in the air fryer too.
Struggles: while my weight is within the range I set, seeing it creep up does make me think I’m going to just beeline to my starting weight tomorrow. Logically I know that’s not true but it is a feeling. Just trying to acknowledge the feeling, and acknowledge the logical response. This is a long term journey

Success(es)/struggle(s) of the week: I'm still sitting just above the high end of my range, which I'm not happy about. I bumped up my daily steps goal again, and with some walks outside, I managed to get my weekly steps over 90k again. I've added a bit of fresh fruit into my diet but hope to be able to add more fruits and vegetables. It's a struggle between trying to eat healthier and cook more and trying to support local restaurants and ordering takeout. The restaurant food is keeping my weight high, likely due to a combination of lots of sodium and carbs, and I also might be underestimating calories a bit, so I'm going to try to cut down to maybe only 1 takeout meal per week and do more cooking.4 -

Success of the week: Even though my average weight is up a bit this week (0.2 from last week, 0.9 from two weeks ago), the TrendWeight website still shows me slowly losing, and my average weight is down about a half pound from three weeks ago. I started running a few weeks ago, and this week enjoyed it and set some best times and a farthest distance.
Struggle of the week: I still struggle with admitting to myself that I am actually maintaining my weight because it's fluctuating up and down just a few pounds over what I have deemed "ideal." I need to step back and look at the big picture because when I do that, I see that I'm actually closer to that elusive "ideal" weight than I was two years ago when I started maintenance and almost exactly the same as it was one year ago. I have certainly fluctuated both up AND down since then; it's just what happens, and that is to be expected.4 -

Success: Dropped the water weight that was the result of running a half marathon - if you eat a lot of carbs, drink a lot of electrolytes and put your body under stress, you will retain water. I'm happy to have realized that and didn't freak out or alter my plan. I stayed the course and trusted that it would right itself over the course of the week.
Struggles: Kind of gave up logging yesterday. I had another couple over for wine and cheese on my deck - my first attempt at a socially distanced social gathering. It was wonderful. Successes: Exercising A LOT more & that led to my eating a bit more, but I caught it & scale is coming back down Slowly. I look leaner & I’m already feeling much stronger. Took a semi -rest day yesterday - 1 hr walk instead of 2.5-3 hours.
Having some Gastro issues, so I’ll likely drop back to my earlier 10K steps per day. Modifying diet to see if it quiets.

Successes/challenges: Been an uneventful week, nothing much to report.

Struggles: Kind of gave up logging yesterday. I had another couple over for wine and cheese on my deck - my first attempt at a socially distanced social gathering. It was wonderful. But I mindlessly ate cheese, crackers and charcuterie and really had no idea how much I ate. Lesson learned: make a plate for myself in advance, weighing quantities before and after. I already had separate cheese plates for each couple - to prevent cross contamination - so making a cheese plate just for myself wouldn't be a stretch. At any rate, no damage done. I appear to have stayed within my calories over the course of the week.
What I often do in this situation is make as good a guess as I can. If you do weigh a few example pieces of cheese, olives, or whatever you were serving, you can try to at least make a mental note each time you eat one (or five). I have found that my estimator gets better if I use the scale to reinforce my brain to know what a "cube of cheese" for example weighs. I think typical cube of cheese is between a half ounce and an ounce, or 15-30 grams more or less. I had to resort to estimating today; I had some pizza. Good luck getting THAT dialed in. MFP has pizza slices in the database from 200 to 600 calories each.
When I go on a rafting or diving trip, I just use a "recipe" I created that I call "Rafters Rations" or "Diver Rations" that's a given amount of grams of fat, carbs, and protein. I just log the same 1 portion of that each day, and I also guess how long I row or paddle. My computer can tell me how long I dive. I sometimes even prep food, guess the weight, and THEN put it on the scale. It's just another tool to have in the box for times when you can't be as accurate as you might want.

Successes/struggles:
We were away in my motorhome for a few days last week, I relaxed and didn’t log all my food. I pre-measured and logged my breakfasts before we left home but nothing else. I was careful, no chips, no rich desserts, no beer, but we did have cake and pastry. On Friday the scales were at 48.9 kg – increase 0.8 kg (1.8 lb)! However, now it’s dropped again. My trend line lifted slightly but I shouldn’t worry about it.
We enjoyed the break, although must admit to being a bit nervous visiting the nearby town. It was very quiet and we spent a couple of hours in the park, ate lunch sitting in the park. It’s good to feel that life is getting back to normal again.

I was going to say almost the same thing. Why does .5 over makes me nervous and .5 under makes me gleeful? I know better. They are both very much the same. It is just a mark on the scale. But it is in a way okay. I get in trouble when I ignore the upticks and wsnt to stop it before it is much more than an uptick. So I'm celebrating a tad below goal weight (even if in range).

Success/Struggles: Still ever so slowly losing, although the last few days seem to have leveled out. I think the increased strength training may be helping (water weight, etc). Hoping I’ve finally settled into my ‘happy place”. Checked my BMI yesterday and I’m smack dab in the middle of “healthy range” so that’s reassuring. I can run a bit longer now, trying to use my new thinner body. I’ve gone from barely being able to do 1 pull-up to doing 10-12 at a time, as well. So some physical benefits are nice! As a side note, I was carrying a 35 lb kettlebell yesterday and thought, “I used to walk around all day with more then this in fat on me!”.

Hi! My name is Kristen. And I struggle to maintain my weight. I have had great success losing/gaining, but I'm hoping this group helps me be more accountable. I weigh only 1x week on Sundays, so that's when I'll check in. My 2 goals in 2020 are to not let the scale go above 153 and weigh in EVERY Sunday for the WHOLE YEAR. Successes: Got through a virtual version of Dopey Challenge this week (5k, 10k, Half marathon, Marathon over 4 mornings). Experimenting more with my air fryer. Air fried a beyond patty and it was amazing!
Struggles: Pushed a little too hard on the marathon so my legs are trash today. Hopefully in the next day or two they'll get back to a normal state
