I have an aversion to medical environments, but after 3 days of extreme tiredness and headaches coupled with an irregular period and rapid/partly unintentional weight loss over the last month I bit the bullet on Tuesday and went to the doctor. That’s a NSV in itself as I find it very stressful to even walk in and I also knew that there would have to be blood and needles. Thankfully I got through my visit and four vials of blood without fainting, crying or throwing up.
The other NSV is that I seem to be quite healthy 😊 I had good blood pressure and good blood sugar and all the other tests he ordered came back today also within normal levels.
I don’t have any before labs to compare it with but it’s nice to know that even when I’m super stressed (literally, he commented on this in my journal) my blood pressure is 130/90.

A coat which wouldn't fasten last winter now fits comfortably, it felt so good zipping it up, I really like this coat. Also my friend who only sees me once per week says he can see a difference in me!14

I went to Goodwill yesterday looking for something. One of my favorite things to do is skim through the jeans section looking for high end denim. And... there usually is some. Yesterday I ran across a pair of Hudson's (retails around $200) but they were a size 28 (6-8) and a "super skinny" style. I needed a new pair of skinny jeans since my dog got a hold of my favorite pair...but these just looked SO TINY. But, they were stretchy so I thought maybe, just maybe, they will fit when I lose the next 5-10 pounds. Well, I tried them on when I got home, half expecting them to not pull up over my thighs, but low and behold, they fit like a glove. And, they look fantastic. The draw back? Once I lose another 5-10 pounds they won't fit any more. But, they were only $9.99, so I don't care.

WOW!!!
I was up half a pound today and feeling a little bummed... but I've been weight training- pushups, squats, etc.
Just standing in the front hall a minute ago, and noticed my pants were really sagging...
On a whim, I put my thumbs in the non-elastic waistband and pushed and ---YEP!
My pants slid to the floor!
WHAT???? These corduroys used to be tight.

I made about two dozen homemade chocolate-chip cookies this morning b/c I was expecting a guest, who ended up cancelling on me. Dang those cookies were great... I use the best chocolate, grind my own oat flour, refrigerate my dough overnight before baking them etc....
I ate two of them. I gave the rest away.
If those cookies remained in this house I would eat the entire lot in 5 minutes flat.
I really do not know what it is about cookies. Nothing else, no other dessert, candy, or any other sugary thing does this to me. But the cookies can voodoo up some serious mind control if I don't watch it.16 -
This week, I've noticed that the jiggly flab where my calves are are now starting to feel like actual muscle!12

My husband brought home milk duds yesterday.
He rarely does that, we don’t really buy candy except for the higher quality dark chocolate I make daily room in the calories for, because I refuse to live in a world where my food doesn’t include at least a small piece of chocolate whenever the heck I want it
It’s been an overly stressful week. Stress + dehydration + TOM weaken my resolve.
I found myself stress eating the milk duds after dinner a few minutes ago. I don't even like milk duds. I haven’t had the urge to stress eat in ages.
I knew what a serving was and I almost devoured an entire serving in 2 minutes flat with plans to give up on hitting calorie goals for the day and go back for more.
Mid bringing my hand back up to my face I stopped, put them back in the box, and walked into the kitchen to make myself an apple cider vinegar + stevia drink instead. ZERO calories and I’m back to thinking milk duds aren’t really worth the calories.
I really needed this win today.38 -

I got out for another walk this evening, not easy for me, I had a rather nasty case of covid19 in February, I'm a senior, and I am beyond terrified of catching it again! But I put my mask on snugly and out the door I went, for 1.5 hours, and really enjoyed all the Halloween yard decorations. That's two long walks this week, YAY!

Back in August I did a Youtube fitness test for people over 60 - I did it again this morning and improved in all areas. I was pretty happy. My cardio showed the most improvement. Shows me what really putting some effort into exercising can do.20

Thank you! I was also rather impressed with it, especially since I remember thinking “this will put me over my calories, oh well, screw it.” I think it was that thought that sort of slapped me out of it and brought me back to reality rather abruptly

My work gave us treats today. I used to be a huge candy lover, loved chocolate. I havnt had candy in over a month. there were about 15 different candy options and then goldfish crackers. I looked at all the candy bars and was actually turned off by them so i chose the goldfish crackers. I plan on giving those to my grandson. Ive lost almost 50 pounds now and dont plan on going backwards for a candy bar.32

On my way to the gym this morning (Saturday) I threw on my Rain coat and done up it comes down over My bum! I don’t think it’s ever done that 😁16

Today marks the 300th day I've been on this journey - and even though I'm taking it as a "holiday" I know I'll be right back to it tomorrow, just like the very few other "holidays" I've had. My body fat is below 31% and I'm BMI 29.2. It's nice to know that for the first time since I was a kid, my body composition isn't medically dangerous to me. And it's still improving. My persistence is the NSV.30

I’ve got another one.
I took a bit of a diet break the last few weeks, and I’m ok with it. Feel free to stop there, the rest is my external processing about that NSV
After reading in the forums here about another’s experience & decisions to plan in maintenance weeks around TOM, travel, or a holiday I decided to do it.
Had some good heart to hearts with myself in the process and for whatever reason I think I was subconsciously considering a diet break a failure (on my part) like I was too weak to stick it through these last 15-20lbs and juts push hard and get it done and be done with it. Couldn’t have told ya that’s what I was thinking, but I’ve had clarity about it and dang if that’s not spot on.
Perhaps it’s because I’m truly seeing scale results after years of child growing and baby nursing and not just markers of recomp (good decreased size measurements but no scale change) that I feel safe enough to let my foot off the gas a little and realize that not every week with be a loss week?
Who knows. When I figure it out I’ll likely get back on here and share it. but, for now, taking a break and not feeling like a quitter (HA! That’s the ticket! I bet last months realization that I’m not a quitter has helped this! Hahaha) is a big victory for me.

I cinched my belt to the last buckle hole, which I added myself, on the most recent belt I bought, trying to hold up the most recent pants I bought, which I've already taken in 4 inches. I like progress!22

I read the signals my body was sending-I don't crave salt, but tonight I could FEEL the need for salt. (I tend to avoid salty foods due to hypertension.) I made a steaming cup of bouillon. Delicious, and I can now feel the subtle change, happy cells. Am learning to hear my body, not just my taste buds!22

I did measures today and although it was expected I’m excited to have lost a bunch of inches! Even my stubborn calfs lost an inch! I can also see definite change in my progress photos.
Last night I had a small amount of candy and then I put the rest away and didn’t go back. I’m getting good at keeping treats in the house without them screaming my name at every turn.17 -
Additional NSV - my step average per day for 2020 is now 10 003. 10K average is my goal for the year, I think I can do it!16

Not eating even a SINGLE piece of candy this Halloween, bought some for the rest of the household and wasn't even tempted. I know people say "everything in moderation" though that's a concept I am still working on and I am still rather new in my weight loss journey so I don't feel comfortable jeopardizing my success at this point and triggering a binge. So, for me, not eating any candy was a really amazing and wonderful thing in comparison to past Halloweens' where I'd LITERALLY binge on an entire 80 piece of box candies and then some.22

I can now taste food additives. That's kind of an NSV because it's only possible because of my clean diet!15

First “let’s see where this road goes” longer bike ride. It wasn’t fast or pretty, esp with a near constant headwind the last 8 miles, but it’s done!21
