I'll weight in on Wednesdays. I am going to set ambitious goals after reading @frankwbrown 's inspirational quotes. Since it's a 30 lbs challenge, I will make that my goal.
Good luck to everyone else on reaching your goals.

I could help you dispose of that ice cream cake and chocolate cake. I would totally make that sacrifice, if I could.
I saw a little progress this morning, losing some of the weight I gained this past week.
Time to get back on track.
Funny Frank! I left the cakes for the kids and had some lower calorie cookies just to say I had something!! Keep up the good work.5 -
Hope everyone is sticking to it. 4 pounds down from the 10 holiday pounds I snuck on. Water weight im sure but its motivation and thats what I need at the moment. These winter doldrums put me in eating mode and its not easy.

Doing better this week (so far....). I did my mid-week check and I'm going in the right direction but it's definitely getting harder. I think getting out of the 180's is going to be a tough challenge because of the holidays and because I haven't weighed less than 180 in awhile (about 35 to 40 years!). I'm really close to the "normal weight" BMI for my height (179 lbs) but it feels like something in my body is fighting back, holding onto those last couple pounds. Eating light today. Would love a shot of whiskey but I'm fighting that urge.

It's really good to see everyone trying hard! It is so motivating. I will step on the scale tomorrow with one eye open and one eye closed - scared to look.
I am still doing IF. BUT I have polished off some cookies this week during my eating hours and those calories will add up.
However, no junk food after 7:00 all week, because I didn't buy any salty favorite snacks this week.
Happy New Year's Eve for some of you!

I’m in although I don’t know about 30 by March. I’m 62 with some mobility issues due to bad ankle. Start weight 200, lord help me. My goal is to lose 40 pounds, although I’d be better off losing 55. I may go for it after the 40 is gone. My first goal is to get under 190.10

I got down 42lbs and kind of lost motivation. I actually got down 45 but gained 3 back. Could be worse. Anyway, I've only got 34lbs lefts and I really need to do it, I'm lucky I haven't gained back more. Anything lost by March is good with me!

Hey Everyone! I decided we will eat our New Years Eve meal for lunch. That way I have time to burn it off and then just have soup for dinner. My Dad used to say that old saying, "breakfast of a King, lunch of a Prince, and dinner of a Pauper" meaning of course, eat lighter at end of day. He was never overweight. Anyway, there will be no champagne toast for me at midnight. I'll be in bed by 10. Happy New Year to all! Be, well, be safe! ~ Jen8

Hi all, for our New Years Eve we will be eating early but still celebrating with some
Champagne! Starting January first, my husband and I will be doing the Dry January challenge. This is mostly for our long term health, as we need to cut back our alcohol intake. But any advice you all have on how to avoid temptation would be greatly appreciated! It will be especially hard for me while cooking — I always enjoy sipping a little red wine while making dinner so I will miss this ritual. Thanks!2 -

There is a Dry January app you could keep track on. There are also numerous articles online about this. I have been cutting back on alcohol for the last few years; it's been a journey not a sprint.
When I do dry January, I make it non-negotionable. I will not drink. Period. I once went in January with friends to Nashville and we bar hopped the whole weekend and I still didn't drink. Set your goal and stick with it. No exception. There will be some temptations especially when cooking. I used to love drinking wine when cooking.
Another possible trick could be get some non-alcoholic beer like Heineken OO and that may help,
You may want to have some candy nearby, because alcohol is sugar, and you may crave alcohol so pop a piece of candy in your mouth to get that dopamine kick.
One last thing, cravings last about 6-10 min. so keep busy and it will pass. Have tea on hand.
I also treated myself to nice coffee drinks instead of alcohol. Anything to fill that void, because alcohol was a habit for me.
Best wishes! IT's only one month! You can do it!

My parents eat this way and are thin and healthy and in their 70s and 80s.
They eat fruit for breakfast. A big bowl.
A big lunch but sensible : maybe a steak, potatoes, peas, salad. They never have cheeseburgers for example.
Dinner: Mom eats a bowl of Cheerios. Dad has some crackers and cheese.
I like your idea and your dad's philosophy was brilliant.5 -
@Whatsthemotive I wish you the best. Track what you eat; they say that weight loss is 80 percent food and 20 percent exercise.
I also have seen on Youtube exercises you can do while sitting.5 -

You're wise to stop the gain at 3 pounds. I gained 20 in the matter of Covid months in isolation. I should have never let that get so far; now, I have a lot to lose and I should have stopped the weight gain at 3 pounds like you.4 -
Going to be eating some frozen food chinese appetizers tonight. Trying to make things partyish for my girls. Potstickers are on the menu. I love those. Going to try to have a serving and not half the bag like I would normally do. @JenT304 that's a smart idea!
Happy New Year!6 -

Happy New Years Eve! I look forward to continuing to follow everyone's journey into the new year.

25 lbs to go, I think. I'll weigh in tomorrow. I have dropped half and half from my coffee as of today and the black tastes terrible, but I will drink it because I need the caffeine. No doubt I will drink less of it which is good thing I suppose. Besides losing the weight, I am committed to going through paper work and I started shredding old checks and bank statements. I am on 1995 and 6. It is a trip, looking at these old checks and walking down memory lane. Checks to my kid's elementary school, Girl Scouts, stores that no longer exist, etc. I need to stop looking at each one or I will never finish.7

Happy new year!
May 2021 bring good health and prosperity for all!
I told myself I’d be happy if I only maintained my weight through the holidays. I came very close so I’ll call it a win. I am realizing though that I most likely won’t hit my goal by March, and that’s ok. I’ll keep going and make my changes life-long habits.
It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop. — Confucius
Also, I’m doing a dry January. Anyone else?
Pre-Covid 155, BMI 27.5
Start 165 lbs, BMI 29.2
Present 160 lbs, BMI 28.5
Goal 140 lbs, BMI 24.8
Total loss 5 lbs7 -
I'm doing Dry January too, along with my husband and a couple friends. It will definitely help with the weight loss, mindless snacking etc.
