Anyone else doing this crazy challenge? I know my workouts will be better not to mention how it will help with weight. No more logging wine ☺️.
Shoot me a line if your reading this and on board too!

My husband has just announced he is doing it. So I will probably end up doing it by default since all the restaurants are closed and I don't much care if I drink at home or not.2

I'm going to quote myself from the Sober October thread, which you may find useful.

Back in the 90's, I changed my relationship with alcohol with a few Smart Recovery and Rational Recovery meetings. I can now drink moderately, which for me is really barely at all - I think I've had 2.5 drinks this year.
When I drink, I eat more, and my sleep is disrupted, so the next day I eat more as well. Just a terrible combo for me when I'm trying to lose weight.9 -
I am!0

Yes!1

Yep! Stopped drinking alcohol a few weeks ago. I noticed that the days I drank were also days I ate much more than necessary, so my weekly average calories ended up being maintenance for a weight I'd like to not be at anymore.8

Started today and hope to feel better tomorrow!5

I am! It's my first one, and like you, I log way too many wine calories. I'm anxious about not having my daily wine fix, but also so excited at the thought of it not having a hold over me.7

I am in! I do it every year.3
-
Yes. Count me in. Fewer calories, better sleep, all the reasons4

Same. DH did dry June last year, and it was tons easier for me to abstain that month, although he didn’t care if I did or not. During that month, I tried This Naked Mind “alcohol experiment. “ https://thisnakedmind.com/the-alcohol-experiment/
I did gain insights into my beliefs and habits around alcohol that made it easier to moderate.4 -
I’m in, the last time I had a drink was Xmas day so even though it’s the 2/12 where I am I’m still in dry January. I’ve found over the past 6 months my drinking has crept up, to the stage of maybe one bottle of rose a week, for someone on as many medications as I take that’s probably not advisable if I’m honest7

Sorry. Nope. Not me.
I'm one of those contributing to the increase in alcohol sales during the pandemic.
In fact, I just bought a lot highly recommended scotch and bourbon to expand my collection of both and I still have a "cellar" (storage closet) full of wine.8 -
I’m doing it. Day one done lol6

Day 2 so sleepy. And it's Saturday! *kitten*. I can see neighbors next door from my kitchen. That means sports in the garage tv and beers and the usual chiding about not having 'just one'.
Any advice will be noted!
Maybe I will say I have Covid?1 -
Kitten? You can't type curse words ? 😲 Oops1

Bring your own NA? I'm partial to Athletic's NA IPA, myself.4 -
Bring your own. People won't even notice or care. It leaves more for them! Especially with pandemic distancing, BYO is a standard practice and a smart one. Go have fun.1

I’m doing it. Day 2 and looking at some non-alcoholic beer to take the edge off this evening. Keep going everyone!2

There is a correlation between drinking and gaining weight for me. I eat more when I drink for whatever reason. I can't deny it.
What works for me, is not drinking at all during the week. I can still have a few on the weekends..and this is how I balance my weight goals. I'd rather do this than just abstain one month out of the year..4 -
Day 4 (I started a day early). Really wanted a glass (or three) of wine last night! We watched a concert on TV. Oh well I can wait a month! Keep up good work everyone!3
-
@elisa123gal , YES... totally a correlation between drinking and weight gain (or no loss) for me, too... even when I'm within my calories. After not drinking for two days, I'm down two pounds. If only that trend would continue for the whole month!
@sarah7591 , I wanted wine so badly last night, too! And if I had had any in the house, I probably would've caved. You're right -- we can do anything for a month!

Husband and I are in. We’ve drank way too much this past year! Better health is my goal.6

Sunday= football= beer.
Nope..Lord help me.5 -
I'm on day 34 of the 75 Hard challenge which includes NO alcohol.
Won't lie, there have been a few days I REALLY wanted a glass of wine or to enjoy an adult beverage with a friend.
But I've stuck to it, not going to fail now that I've gotten through the holidays with no misses!5 -

I just had to look up this challenge and I backed out before I’d even read all the challenge aspects 😂 well done for getting so far with it

I was doing it.
I’m not now. Maybe that means I should be?
But but but... I watch what I eat. I work out. A little booze is my only vice left.
And I been locked down for four zillion years. I need SOMETHING.
But I am in awe of anyone who can.2 -

Ha! I totally get where your coming from RunneeGirl!! I workout basically 6 days a week and eat well. I like thinking I deserve a bit of relax time. Especially this crappy year. But I have a small health issue and dry January is another 'try'.2 -
I started yesterday...we shall see how long it lasts...my consumption was getting pretty out of control there4
-
My wife and I are on Day 4 of Dry January. Didn't expect to make it this far LOL
We'll be tested 26 more times and may yet fail, but for now the ship is holding steady.
It's unbelievably easier to hit those calorie targets without alcohol. We all but quit alcohol for a year when we started dieting in May 2019 but the last 6 months ... slippage. And our weight loss rate reflects it. It's nice to be able to put every calorie into actual food.7
