Thanks @polskagirl01 . I'm actually pretty impressed myself. I didn't know what to expect, so am really pleased with how it is going so far!
@SummerSkier Loved reading your story. My "sport" in HS and college was tennis...but at a really low level. I never considered myself athletic. While in the AF, I struggled to meet the minimum running requirements because I didn't like running and only ran about a month before the "test" so I could pass and not die in the process. It's amazing how much easier and enjoyable it is when you are consistent, don't care about pace, and allow yourself to walk when needed. I do want to run a full marathon at some point, says the person who has never run more than 11 miles! LOL I keep telling people I am going to when I'm 80. I should probably shoot for one before then. I'll just get through this year, try to do a HM and see how it goes, and maybe shoot for a full in 2022. We'll see.
Welcome to the group @Eaglesfanintn ! If you haven't been running for a while, be sure to not start out too fast or too far. You don't want to get injured. Also, from your "name," was wondering if you are from TN. If so, what part? I'm in upper East TN.
@TheMrWobbly You're doing great! Way to hang in there for those HARD miles today!
Nice run @Avidkeo ! You're going to kill your HM!

With a capital H, capital A, capital R and capital D... then put it in bold... then make it flash. There was a thought that said if you are going to run 20 miles why not 26. Well erm... heck NO! This was quite enough and I really need to firm up my fuelling as it just isn't working right now.
No specific target for Feb, just try and keep to the plan.
Great work. And good call - 26 miles is a lot longer than 20. You’ll get to run 26 soon enough.
I’m slightly jealous of the marathoners - I refuse to run one unless I have the time to train properly and that’s not likely while I still have young children. Also, how do you guys deal with the boredom that sets in after an hour or so?
Podcasts. I have a few really good ones that I enjoy and have them either of my watch for short runs (10knor less) or on my phone for longer runs. So I don't double up, I have different subscriptions on each lol.
As for the young children, that's why I'm a 530am runner, even on the weekend.
Ohhh tempted by the waterfront half. Have to check my schedule...3 -
200 minimum miles
Only 28 days, so will be hard to get 500, but will work towards it4 -
Not sure what happened in the last hour or so, but I no longer have access (not able to see) challenge hound challenge. It disappeared?0

First time in this challenge. My goal is minimum of 60 miles for Feb month.11

Hi Everyone! Happy to be here I’ve been running for a while, but I’m new to the monthly running challenge. My goal for the month is 20 hours.8

Awesome!! I’ll buy you lunch after! Or, more likely, brunch. Or second breakfast (my favourite meal if the day!) Woohoo, finally a real life MFP meet up. Now to convince @kirstymn to come up from Tauranga...8 -

Still looking good from here ChallengeHound
We absolutely flew through Portugal leaving the shores of the rather hilly Porto.
Now to do some sort of minecraft/fortnite bridge building as we make our was across the North Atlantic towards the Azores. Not a lot to see out here.

Welcome to all of the new members!

Quite excited! Couldn't bring myself to spend £400-£500 for the fenix 6 or forerunner 945 so an unused older model works well for me!9

The snow this morning made for a fun time out - at least it wasn't sticking to roads/sidewalks yet so footing wasn't an issue. I fall in the best of conditions, so slippery surfaces can be a hazard.

i bought a snowblower after shoveling 3x and 1 more time to clear my driveway apron of 3+ft of snow.
which means i really don't have an excuse not to run. because i won't be using all my energy shovelling
so the goal is to stick to the time expectations of the coach's running plani was supposed to leave about 20 min before the plow came by. I was 30 min late8 -
2-1 6.1k treadmill
February Total: 6.1k
February Goal: 150k
Had some more snow overnight; went on the treadmill. The odd number will have its purpose revealed at the end of the month.
Welcome to all the new runners!
When you pop in here claiming your December 2021 mileage, what accomplishments will you have made?
PUT THE FUN BACK IN THE RUN!
Return to a good running weight of 175 lbs (second attempt)8 -
Welcome @manjeerareddyp and @142jmh ! We're a chatty bunch, so check back often.
@Avidkeo Yeah for registering for the HM entry.
Congrats on the new Garmin @TheMrWobbly !
@Eaglesfanintn Hahaha. Glad you were able to complete your run safely. It's cold and snowing here too, this morning, but not hard and not sticking to the roads yet. I'll be doing my walking on the treadmill later today.
That's a lot of snow @mbaker566 .

@quilteryoyo love seeing we have tennis and military service in common! I so totally sucked at running in the military they even assigned me a special cadet to help me train. lol.
Feb first run was a turtle run today. I don't know why yesterday I could do 7 miles averaging a 9:30 pace and this morning it was 11:30.... If we could figure that out and bottle it we could all be rich? I totally envy the folks who are so consistently running the same pace or improving day after day.

@summerskier your body is just a bit tired from yesterday. you'll be able to be more consistent as you continue to run

I agree my body may be tired from yesterday but I have been running a few years. ..... LOL. (ok does 45 years count as a few) and MY PACE is never consistent. I like to blame it on the weather or my shoes or GPS fluctuations (earth is flatter today)5 -

consistency is key0 -
@mbaker566 - that is a ton of snow! I guess you could thank the plow driver for making you workout more 😂
How are the pups dealing with all that snow?0 -
So I joined a 600 miles in 2021 challenge, also the you vs the year challenge which is 1021km in 2021 and today I started the 75 hard challenge, so miles should be good this month.
2/1-2.25

I’m in for February! As usual no specific mileage goal. My goals right now have to do with the Winter Race Series my husband and I cooked up for ourselves when the local series went in-person and only a handful signed up for the virtual option. We are duplicating the runs of the official series (3k, 5k, 8k, and 10k on trails) as much as possible, and also running the 3k and 8k distances on roads so we can compare our times to both the virtual and in-person results and get an idea how we would have done. Did the 3k runs in January, the 5k we are planning to run Tuesday. Then the 8k race on roads, and a training run for the 8k trails, followed by the 8k trail race. The 10k will be in March.
My primary goal is not to get injured! Trails are always tricky for my knees, I have no acl on one side and had a bad meniscus tear on the other side last year. Secondary goal is to have as much fun as possible.6 -
Yesterday's melt froze overnight, and it was -9°C, so colder than I like but not too bad. This morning we had government office stuff to do, then I ran home from there, about 7k. I made it my weekly speedwork by running the clear roads fast, walked the icy bits, and tried to run "a little further" up the hills. If I can get used to running here, I'll be a beast at hills. Later I put my watch on "weight training" and carried boxes upstairs for an hour. Now most everything is in the proper room, and I'm waiting for some furniture to arrive and be assembled (or shelving replaced in cabinets, etc.) so I can unpack those rooms. My kitchen table & chairs should arrive tomorrow; I'm so excited!11

@ContraryMaryMary I listen to podcasts and try to plan routes with views I like, and I really don't get bored. I also use the time to think through things and pray (meditate or whatever you do). Sometimes if I'm processing something, I have this narrative going in my head, and I keep backing it up and going through it again from a certain point until I get it figured out. Anyone else do that?
Re: HM maintenence @Avidkeo I do at least one HM distance run a month. I sometimes build up my weekly long run longer than HM, sometimes it's less, but I can pretty much do a half anytime now (like Saturday when I woke up and decided to do it that day). Pretty similar to @eleanorhawkins with repeating weeks from a Hal plan, although recently I'm making things up more as I go along - I don't highly recommend that part but it is working for me for this time in my life. If I wanted to go for a time goal, I'd do more specific training, but I'm very happy maintaining at this level for now.5 -

I hear ya. Do be careful. It's why I run in the street with traffic direction as I have no acls (since the 70's!) and meniscus damage on my right so it needs to always be on the downhill. I gave up on trails and such a long time ago as I tend to trip. Even the sidewalks here are more dangerous than the roads as the tree roots have shifted them into treacherous obstacles.
@mbaker566 dang that is a lot of snow. Kudos to all my northern runners for getting out in it.... When it pretends to snow in Tx we hibernate. Heck I even had a snow day last month while WFH......

@mbaker566 I definitely do not miss Wisconsin this time of year lol3

Sunshine, blue skies, and a warm -5C / 23F felt nearly tropical today! 1/20 hours done!7

Hey guys. Sort of fell off with the thread at the end. Busy days ahead at work and I dimply could not keep pace over here! Pardon the pun lol.
I did manage to meet my goals from Jan (run at least 10K 3x week and cycle 3 with some strength and yoga mixed in,)
Will continue. Today was 7 miles ( the last .8 was cold down).
Everyone is doing so well!9
