This is one of the days where I'm glad I weigh daily. I'm up an entire pound from yesterday, but I went 100 calories over goal and had high sodium meals. My average weight for the week is 178.5 (81 kg), so I just need to keep at it and drink plenty of water and hopefully I'll have a lower number to report next week.11 -

Have you thought about using a weight trending app? You sound like the perfect candidate. You weigh every day, but you know that one day is just one day. The one I like right now is called TrendWeight. I like their graphics. Unfortunately for me, I can't enter my data directly. If you use FitBit, it will enter automatically. I have to go enter it manually on a Fitbit account. Another interesting one is called WeightGrapher. One neat feature there is it shows you your weight 28 days ago. This can help if you have monthly cycles where your weight regularly fluctuates. Some people use HappyScale or Libra. I really should try the one that works with iOS.
All of these apps use a "Weighted moving average." I also have a spreadsheet that just calculates a ten-day average, and that's the easiest way to do it. The weighted moving average applies more importance to a number the more recent it is; i.e., yesterday's weight affects the output more than your weight ten days ago. If you want to read more about how this all works, check out The Hacker's Diet, especially the section on Signal and Noise!
These are really good tools to reinforce our notion that we're still doing great even if the scale jumps for one (or three) days.6 -

Well I gained this week. I didn’t go over my calories that much so I think it’s water weight. I started some strength training and shoveled a lot of snow. Hopefully next week will be better!3 -

Been having some stagnation the past few days - a lot of ups and downs. Seeing the weekly comparison and being more or less on track helps! Hoping to get down to 305ish this month so I can break the barrier and get back into the 200s come March. If I can do that, I can be back to my pre-COVID weight before my birthday in April.5
