Thanks @kgirlhart . It's funny that you talked about doing short runs for a "rest day," because I was trying to decide if I should do that. Thank for making that decision much easier.
@Faebert Glad to hear you are doing better. Sounds like you have a great plan in place.
Congratulations on your 7k PR @Tramboman !1 -

Just a quick 1.4 miles this morning for the run streak. It was very humid and muggy. It almost felt drizzly but I think it was just moisture in the air. I was a little worried that doing a run streak might make running feel like a chore, but so far I am really enjoying it. Although I do sometimes feel like it's not really worth the effort to get dressed and not even go 2 miles. But I do like having a 15 minute run as a warmup before an hour long yoga practice.
Congrats on the PR @Tramboman!

@skippygirlsmom I can relate! I had a knee injury two years ago and taking it slow getting back into running is sooo important. yoga also helped me recover. I'm glad you're doing pt. Be patient with your body, listen to those doctors, and pet your puppies for me!
@quilteryoyo your walks are so inspiring! keep doing so good! Is Tippy your dog? I have a big dog, and i always take him with me for my walk/jogs.
@HonuNui I love New Year's Resolutions. Congrats on sticking to yours! yay it's March 13th! most people have given up by now haha My new year's resolutions include walking my dog 1 mile every sunny day and doing a 5k every weekend! Like you i had to find a theme. I like the idea of walking different countries. I'd love for you to share an example of a video you watch. And are you doing your miles on a treadmill so you just watch it right then? My themes change every week. Last weekend's theme was "National Dress Day" So i ran my 5k in a dress haha. and this weekend's theme is in honor of my hometown's annual festival celebrating spring and the Redbud tree :-) they're pretty. Hearing the birds chirp as i run is wonderful
@kgirlhart good job with your running and i hope you're able to get the vaccine soon! I'm happy to report that several of my family members have been able to get theirs and they are doing well! A big relief for me to feel they are now safer :-) I probably won't be able to get mine to may or June. we'll see, but All my running has been socially distanced and at home themed lol I also like yoga, I do the yoga with Adriene videos on youtube. stay safe and have a great weekend!
@Faebert i'm so glad you're feeling better and that alternating strength and run days is helping. I'm sorry to hear your comment made it sound like you have had covid. I'm sorry to hear your breathing has been effected. I haven't had covid and I'm not the best runner and i don't know everything... but i've enjoyed my yoga classes. I find myself channeling the same breathing patterns in running as i do my yoga.
@marisap2010 Good luck with your classes. Those sound fun.
Thank you to everyone for your posts. It's really great to see how many are working hard to reach their goals and even though we are social distancing and virtual these days, we can still get some good support if we know where to look!
Yesterday, I walked 1.5 miles with my pup and then played tennis for an hour.
And I'll be heading out today to do a 5k with my pup!

@quilteryoyo too bad we didn’t live closer we could walk together.
@marisap2010 thank you !
@vs_shine thank you for the encouraging words and the pups thank you for the pets.
So I walked a 5K this morning. I had permission from my PT with lots of conditions which I followed. Took 1 hour 20 minutes which I’m happy with. It was hard to not try to run but I know the huge mistake that would have been so I didn’t. This race swag was medal, shirt and Brooks Launch which I normally wear, they are in the spoiler. As I promised PT I’m sitting on the couch icing and no more “distance walking” this weekend.8 -
@skippygirlsmom great job walking your 5k and reining yourself in to be safe. That is some awesome swag! Shoes! And I really like that t-shirt too.
Congrats on your PR @Tramboman!! Awesome job.
@kgirlhart good job on your streak. I do 15 minute runs fairly often before strength or yoga as a warmup and during my run streak that was my "rest day" as well.
@vs_shine gorgeous Redbud tree.

I was non-committal about running this morning with my group of friends because I was up late last night. But I woke up on time and it was sunny (but cold), and several friends I hadn't seen in a while were planning to go. It ended up being a nice run. There was ice piled up all along the shore of the lake, which was interesting to see - it looked like someone had pushed it all up there out of the water. You can see it in the pic here, along with the beautiful blue sky:
A tough workout class at the gym after that and I am settling in for a nap and relaxing the rest of the day.

@vs_shine Yes, Tippy is my dog. She is almost 8 years old. I don't run with her, but do try to take her for a walk in my neighbor's field most days. She weighs 60 pounds. I got her as a puppy from the Humane Society, so we don't really know what breeds she is a mix of, but think probably Australian Shepherd and German Shepherd. Picture in the spoiler below. I love red bud trees. Ours aren't blooming yet. They will be soon, I'm sure.
@skippygirlsmom Yeah. It's too bad we live so far apart. It would be fun to have a walking partner. You did great today and high five for listening to the PT and putting your foot up and on ice!

For March I want to build on my February goal of completing Couch to 5k.
March goals:
Run 100kms (62 miles)
Build to 5mi long run by the end of the month.
Run Thirsty Thursday 5k on 3/25
Good luck to all of you and I'll see you at the finish line.
March 1 - 5: 17km. Long run is at 3.9 miles and Couch 2 5k is finished!
March 7 - 13: Another 20km finished for 37 total this month. Hitting my 100km goal is going to be close, but I'm determined!
It's inspiring seeing so many of you pushing through obstacles to get your running in. I'm very impressed with the dedication and support in this community.8 -
@skippygirlsmom yay on the 5k and good for listening to PT! Glad you are making progress!
I did my 16k yesterday and it was great. I tried a new path which had a long slow climb, it was a challenge but really good. Got to the top no real issues at all. I am finding at around the 16k mark I'm starting to get tightness in the outsides of my hips? Suggestions? I'm going to do a lot of stretching for the next few weeks to hopefully loosen that area.
Then in the avo I did something a bit silly.
I've worked a LOT of call hours over the last 2 weeks, meaning I got a reasonably good pay. Soooo my patience gave out and I bought myself a new watch! I got the Fenix 6s.so far I love it. Its taking a little getting used to - buttons instead of touchscreen is definitely a bit of a change. But a bit of playing around last night and I got it in my head.
I really want to take it for a run, but rest day. So I'm going to try out the hike function instead.
Anyone have one? Any tips?

I just realized that when I posted my run a little while ago I didn't update my chart at the top. I thought I'd better do that now or I would forget and then not be able to figure out why my mileage was off.
Way to go on your 5K @skippygirlsmom! And great job listening to the PT.
@vs_shine That redbud is beautiful. Ours are blooming here too (also in Texas) but I haven't seen any that pretty.
@katharmonic That ice along the lake looks really pretty.
@avidkeo Nice new watch!

@Tramboman nice job on your 7k PR!
@skippygirlsmom glad you are getting to start walking. 5k is a huge accomplishment after that serious injury.
@quilteryoyo Tippy is a good looking mutt. Glad he keeps you company on your walks.
@vs_shine The redbuds are just starting to bloom here in north Texas. None as pretty as that one!
@Avidkeo going that you treated yourself! I'm sure that watch has more bells and whistles than my truck 😉. I too have been having hip tightness. Try holding some pigeon poses for a few minutes. That really helps with my hips.6 -

3/5: 2.2 miles
3/6: 13.2 miles

I did C25k with my family in the morning yesterday before we headed out of town for spring break. We got an Airbnb in the hill country and will be spending the next week hiking around several state parks in the area.
We did our first hike at Guadalupe River State Park today, a little over 5 miles. It's a pretty park and the terrain is exactly what you think of when you think of Texas hill country. Cedars, mesquites, rocks, and long grasses blowing in the wind. We had some good cloud cover, which I'm always grateful for.
On the way home we stopped at this local gelato place and had the most amazing housemade gelato - vanilla bean with orange and lemon zest. Perfect! Now the plan is to chill this evening on the porch and enjoy the nature!7 -
@skippygirlsmom and @quilteryoyo You guys are doing great with your recovery!
@rheddmobile You and your husband's commitment to this race series is so great! I love how much thought you guys put into these races.
@Avidkeo Pretty watch!3 -
Thanks @Scott6255 for the pigeon pose suggestion, I'll try that
Went for a hike, and while it took a while to connect, the GPS actually worked for most of our walk despite being surrounded by tall trees! I was impressed! And having the map on the watch was also pretty cool, though the trail was well marked.
Kids did well, we went further than last time. Aiming to make it to the top eventually, which should take about an hour. We managed 30 mins before miss 4 had enough. Was only 20 mins last time.6 -
@eric13296 You are doing great! Congrats on finishing your couch to 5k! This is a pretty awesome group of people.
@Avidkeo Great run and you deserved the new watch! It looks so pretty. I have a Garmin, so can't help you out. Sounds like you had a nice hike too. Glad miss 4 made it 30 minutes!
@katharmonic Good job on getting your run in. The picture is beautiful and interesting.
Thanks @Scott6255 ! Tippy love going on those walks. She's pretty special to me.
@martaindale Glad your family is still working on their C25k. The park is very pretty. Enjoy the rest of your week away!

I'm glad I had the thoughts about a "rest day" during my streak yesterday, because I needed it today. I only had time for a one mile walk this morning. One of my brother's sister-in-law's passed away unexpectedly on Thursday. Mom and I found out about 9 this morning that her funeral was going to be today, at 3 pm, in Wytheville, VA - over a two hour drive away. We decided we should probably go to support the family. Before leaving, I took Tippy for a walk so she would get some exercise today and I would get my mile in too. Glad I did it then, because we didn't get home until after 7pm. It's been a long day, but we are glad we went.
In case you were wondering, it was a small memorial service, held outside, in a local park, and almost everyone wore masks. I think we were safe.6 -
@quilteryoyo thanks, it is a garmin, the Fenix 6s Pro. I changed the watch face. Had this watch face for years now lol, since I got my first Garmin.2

Ooh, nice! Looking at the second pic, my only suggestion is that if you want heart rate accuracy, you’ll need to have the strap nice and tight - I had a few tracking issues and according to my coach if light can get behind the watch it’ll mess with the heart rate. I have mine tight when I start my run, the go up to super tight (leave a mark can’t be any tighter tight) after about 5 minutes.3 -

I'll remember that. I used to do that with my old watch too. I like it tight for run but looser for daily wear
Now hanging out for your race report! The weather looked perfect, since no America's Cup racing!1 -
Yesterday, I attended my RIPPED class and then did 3.5 mile run/walk after (I got a phone call during, so I walked to take it).
Night before last, I woke up to an awful cramp in my right calf. I stretched and massaged it, and it was fine yesterday morning, but last night and this morning, it is so tight and sore. I really don’t know what I’ve done to it. I’m massaging it in hopes that I can get out in an hour or so for my St Patty’s virtual 10k. I really don’t want to have to walk it, and I can’t put it off for another day because I don’t always have enough time in the evenings for that long of a run.
Also, I applied for a new job yesterday. My boss, who is the assistant program manager at the state level for my company is leaving, so I applied. It would take me out of clinical work, but I figure if I get it, I could always do some tele-therapy on the side if I wanted. Cross fingers for me. I am so nervous!11 -

Thanks for commiserating with me over my failed weekend plans. On Friday, me and three friends headed to Dupont Forest near Hendersonville, NC and hiked the trails there. They were not technical but I got to practice with my big backpack and we saw some beautiful waterfalls. Had lunch in downtown Hendersonville and did a little shopping there. Yesterday, I got my monthly half marathon completed. I had not really planned on it but a friend needed 13 miles so I just kept going with her.
@katharmonic, @quilteryoyo and @scott6255 – it is funny about being so close to others on the RTW Challenge. I had no clue because I don’t think I’ve been to the site since we started the challenge. I always get an email from Challenge Hound after I complete a run so I know my run counts.
Congrats on your ambassadorship @Camaramandy648!
Love your progress @skippygirlsmom! Nice race swag!
Wow! Estonia is beautiful @HonuNui. I’ve only watch the first 15 minutes so far but I plan to watch it all later. Curious, do you know have a new bucket list of places that you would like to go?
@kgirlhart – Hope you can get the vaccine today. I’m on a wait list at a couple of places for if they have extra doses at the end of the day. One pharmacy called me on Friday when I was out of town. I’m bummed that I missed it but they said I would stay at the top of the wait list of extras on another day.
@Tramboman – sounds like you’re making progress on your weight loss – congrats!
Good luck with the job application @marisap2010!
