@rnc52012 In our county, restaurants must put the calories next to everything on the menu. My husband was eyeing something on a menu recently that was 2200 calories. He probably would have ordered it if he had not been informed. It really can be shocking. Sometimes "salads" are way higher than a burger. It really is hard to tell with some things.
@JenT304 Yup it sure is! Luckily I can't afford to eat out too often🙄

March 15/21 Check In
SW 162(ish)
GW 140
Today's weight is 155.4
So I'm down 7lbs since I started on January 10/21
My waist is down 2.5 inches and hips about 1.5 inches.
Progress has been made, and while it's not huge I'm pleased and am going to work a little harder at upping my exercise and staying within my daily calorie intake goal.
I have really begun an inner dialogue and awareness about my emotional stressors & the binges. Pounds LOST and emotional GROWTH.....👍👍

I’ve hit a plateau. Time to try something new. I’m going to give Intermittent fasting a go this week. Wish me luck!7 -
Baked salmon and sweet potatoes over the weekend. I seasoned the salmon all over with olive oil, paprika and sea salt. Then added honey and mustard on the top. Then I sealed the salmon in aluminum, with parchment under the fish, baked 20 minutes, opened the aluminum, removed the parchment, then boiled the top for another 5 minutes or so to brown. It was like heaven, very moist inside and brown on the outer. For the sweet potatoes, sliced in half, coated them all over with olive oil and sea salt. Placed on parchment paper with the cut side down and baked for 45 minutes. Smack your momma good eating...Of caused I had wine...and was still under my calorie count for the day...today's weigh in 268 pounds, 23 from goal.6

Wow! That sounds delicious, but I'm not that ambitious. (that could be the beginning of a poem)
It's so satisfying when you can eat a delicious meal and still be under your calorie allowance.
Keep it up!
P.S. We're almost at the same weight -- I weighed 265.5 this morning.5 -

Thanks Frank, it does feel good to cook a great meal...I've never cooked so much as I have this past year...Great for you on the weight, that's awesome! What's your goal weight?2 -
I have gained 1.9 lbs since last check in. Pastries have not been my friend. It is so much easier to stay in a good habit than it is to get back into it when we break our routine.
The good news is the month is not over, I have already lost 19.8 lbs out of my 24 lbs challenge goal, and as @kwgrandma wrote I will “just try to be better than yesterday.”

Well, I started at 330 last July 10th and set a goal of 230 by this coming July 10th. That meant I'd have to lose ~2 pounds/week. I weighed 218 in college so I thought 230 would be doable now that I'm 70+, and it gave me a nice round number: 100 pounds to lose in one year. I started out averaging about 2.1 pounds/week but then the holidays hit and I slowed down. After having a DEXA body scan in December, I learned that I had been losing some muscle along with the fat. So I began eating more protein and lifting weight to try to counteract that. The result was, I plateaued for weeks in January and February.
So now, I'm trying to find a balance where I can continue to lose weight without losing muscle. I am adjusting to the likelihood that I won't make my goal by July 10th, but I am still determined to get there. In fact, I think I might want to continue down to 220 before I begin weight maintenance.

That's GREAT...you're doing an amazing job...wonderful inspiration. I was 306 at my heights. For me, it's been learning and sticking to a new healthier lifestyle, and moderation. Learning that if I fall off the wagon, to get back on immediately, as it only takes a few days before old habits return.
Keep it up!6 -
I’ve hit a plateau. Time to try something new. I’m going to give Intermittent fasting a go this week. Wish me luck!
A mid-week update. I’ve fasted from 8pm-12pm for 3 days now. I was very reluctant to try this as I have it ingrained to never skip breakfast and I love my breakfast meals of oatmeal or yogurt.
Here’s what I’m noticing so far... I’m not missing breakfast at all, I have more time in the morning, I have one less meal to plan/prep and I can eat more for lunch and supper.
Now to wait and see if it helps me out of this plateau. Who else uses or has tried this strategy? Have you had any long- term success?3 -
My diet is in tatters. March is a terrible month for me with a few birthdays and everyone itching to have socially distanced parties again. Our anniversary is Monday and we are going to a hotel Saturday so that is just going to extend the madness. I'll be back on track the 23rd. I'll be glad to be in the minus column at all by the end of the month.6

I'm also posting everywhere; if you are the type to suffer a sore arm after vaccination, rub some Bengay on it when it starts to hurt. The difference it made in my pain level is huge. I don't know why the vaccinators aren't telling everyone this tip. Pass it on to your friends.4

I am now at 90 days of tracking my meals. I’ve never gotten this far! It most definitely helps!
I think the best thing about tracking is that i can plan and track my food at the start of the day and see if I’ll have any leeway for an extra bite here or there. Having a plan helps keep me on track.
From the start of this weigh loss journey it has been my intent that my changes will be lifelong. I first thought this meant a lifelong diet and exercise routine. But I now see that tracking my food will be lifelong as well.
This group has been a big help too. Knowing I’ll be posting my progress helps to hold me accountable. I hope it’s been helpful for everyone else.
Be well everyone!7 -

Yes, I'm actually doing intermittent fasting now...I started with the 16 hour off and 8 hour eating window for a few weeks, then upped that the to an 18, 6 window and now I'm on the 20 hour off eating and a 4 four hour on window. The first week is the toughest, I would actually go to bed at eight so I wouldn't eat past 8 pm....you have to drink lots of water to make you feel full. The best window for me is the 20/4. It's amazing how much energy you get once you're in the keto's zone. You still can't over eat during your eating window. Take your vitamins including potassium. My daily calorie intake right now is 1770. Good Luck!2 -
Friday weigh-in.
Start 165 lbs
Present 148.0 lbs
Goal 140 lbs
Total loss 17 lbs
Getting there. 😊5 -

Thanks for the encouragement @lperkins5 ! I thought I remembered you saying you were using this method. Good tip on the water and vitamins! I just can’t believe how much more satisfied I feel by eating larger meals when I’m hungry and not eating when I’m not. It sounds so obvious when I say that. Lol. So far it seems pretty effortless and so sustainable for me. Time will tell I guess.5 -

I won’t hit 30 either BUT I have made progress. Even though we won’t hit the 30# goal, the mere fact that we’re still working toward healthier choices is a huge accomplishment.
It’s so easy to give up. But we’re not! We’re STILL working toward a goal!
You’re doing great! Keep going!10 -
This has been a success for all of us! I won't hit 30 either BUT I have hit 12. If I hadn't done this challenge, who knows if I would have gained.
I'm so happy to be on this thread with all of you!!!
Two more weeks and counting.
