I've been trying to get DH to fill in the Lasting Power of Attorney forms for ages, but he is resistant. His health is not quite what it was as he is still having disturbed nights. I woke up very early this morning worrying about how I would cope financially if he were incapacitated. I can’t force him to do anything, but I thought I would set him a good example and perhaps he would follow me. Sometimes this works with him.
So, I got up and went in the spare room to start filling out my own LPA on line. Made a bit of progress, which helped my anxiety a bit. I hope he will see sense.
He is also scared to book a cruise because of his night time problems. I'm finding this all a bit frustrating. When I suggested one around the UK, so he could come home if he didn't like it, he said he would be scared to come home on his own. This is a man who can walk for miles and exercise every day. His age is showing.
I feel a bit disloyal saying all this, but he is getting set in his ways.
Maybe when our lockdown wears off he will recover his va va voom!
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx8 -
Lisa--Love the duck pictures and adventure. What a fun thing to share.
Machka--Like the hats, looks very classy.
Heather--Sorry to hear DH is becoming more worried about things outside of your home. I think this lockdown has done that to a lot of people.
Well I am only working until noon today, Have the bug man coming to the house this afternoon as going to take of the tiny ant problem before it becomes a big ant problem. Then have the weekend off. Going to church tonight and Sunday and to DS's tomorrow for an early Easter dinner. Other than that only plan to do little things around the house. DH got me a led frog bird bath I want to get set out.
Enjoy your weekend and Happy Easter!!

Active April:
1: Commit to being more active this month, starting today. Steps and dog training today. Some kind of strength training tomorrow.
Was feeling angry/sad/disgusted because weight went up 2.9 lbs, narrowly missed step goal by pooping out last night, and yuck waist measurement bigger by a half an inch. Then I thought of our Better Bones and Balance coach who recently lost his wife to metastatic cancer. She was a bright little sparkler and would have been so happy to be here today, at whatever weight/waist. Thankful now.
Lisa I had no idea that gophers chewed bark, just that they left nasty earth piles where they burrow. How do y’all encourage them to move on? your son’s “my rubber ducky was here” pics.
Oh Kay, so sorry to hear about your DH’s troubles. Healing prayers.
Rebecca sweetly sleeping “snookums” aww. Count on you to notice Machka’s boa…
Welcome @Just_Gran Kim from Brisbane and @Christory !
Katla you are so much more gracious than I. I would never allow anyone else to order food for me. :noway:  :noway:
Allie, loved your “Tom’s first wife’s first huband” story. He IS a gem. And so are you!
Karen and Machka those hats really lifted my spirits.
Margaret what you said about being “more careful about only buying what I need and when I need it.” Words I needed to hear.
Pat C your DH is right about past generations’ family treasures. Somehow a little sad, think the pendulum will wait till it’s too late to swing back.
Got our 2nd jabs. Joe asked if my arm was a little sore, his was. He never complains so it must really ache. His hurts where he got the shot, mine just aches a little but in that whole shoulder/shoulder blade/upper arm quadrant. Taking it to mean it’s working, hooray!
March Summary and April PlanImproved steps, dogs.

Truth be told I have been known to wear a boa or two. Of course it was at the clothing optional resort dance, so I had a waist wrap on, a great necklace, and not much else, oh and a smile!😁😋

Sue: I love broccoli. I’ll bet you enjoyed every bite.
Machka: Your photography is wonderful. I like Hadspen Hoops very much.
Barbara: This was a party of three longtime friends on an outdoor patio with no one nearby. It was a celebration for our dear friend who is retiring from the school district. I hired her years ago as a secretary. Our hostess ordered everything in advance. She ordered sushi. It tasted wonderful but was much richer than I am used to eating. The companionship was excellent. I was then, & am still, running on my second vaccination headache. Luckily, our house has three bathrooms and only two people. My morning coffee today is helping deal with the headache.
Lisa: It sounds like you need a rocking chair on the porch and a shotgun to deal with the unwelcome critter. Putting out poison might harm your kitty. :flowerforyou:
Allie: I would not appreciate anyone touching my sore arm after the vaccination. :noway: You are more forgiving than me.
Our current outside temp is 46F, at 8:30 am. There is no visible wind just now. It looks like the beginnings of a nice day. I hope to put some fun into it.

So today is grocery shopping day! Ok society needs to open up, because getting excited about groceries is plain pathetic! Today I am planning on sushi, and a couple crab ragoons, and a nice vinegar tomato & cucumber salad. Making lasagna for husband, and lumpia with some pot stickers for son, ( he's not a fan of lasagna). I will portion out some lasagna for me tomorrow. You ask, why don't you just have it today? Well the truth of the matter is I like eating between 12 noon and 2 or 3 pm. Its my sweet spot, and not having food on my belly when I sleep makes a world of difference. If I eat at 5 or 6 pm, I am guaranteed to be taking Tums and not sleeping well. Its interesting to kinda figure out what works and what doesn't when it cones to myself. All thru caring for the boys, I just ate whatever. Its like looking at a car and just turning the key, not looking at gauges, just throwing gas into it. Now, I have opened the hood, check oil, oh what's this thingy, oh what does THIS do??? Lol, its fascinating!
Had boob squish yesterday, went well. The surgery center up at Anacortes, WA called and my colonoscopy is scheduled for April 29th. And the fun just keeps a going!
Husband let me go hog wild at the post office. Bought $87 worth of stamps! I know, but it keeps me happy! I bought dinosaur stamps that when you move them they show bones then their outsides. I am easily amused.....Well husband bought a board game he had as a teen. Yesterday he was clipping the edges off the counters with nailclippers! So we all need to have our happy places.👍😁
Hugs my friends!

More my husband's jam than mine, Katla! Last time I pulled the trigger on a shotgun, I was just a little slip of a thing, and the recoil pushed me right on my posterior in a handy puddle. Just too much gun for me.
Corey's bringing me a multi-trunk redbud tonight, or if he doesn't get it loaded, we'll go get it tomorrow. This is the neighbor's older version, and the color does not do it justice, it just blazes in the sunlight:
From my man-child son, a picture I may have to get framed.
Later, y'all,
Love,

Rebecca- what sweet pictures of Athena.
Karen - I would love to be with you going through that stuff. I love old stuff.
Lisa - I often worry over things that I don’t realize I’m worrying about. Usually my kids.
The generation that our children are in learned to text on old flip phones they used old T9 technology that they used all codes for, I don’t even think it had punctuation. My eldest uses punctuation religiously now though, she is adamant about punctuation, my youngest not as much.
Michele - wouldn’t you like Jess to do her residency in NC, wouldn’t that make her closer to you.
Katla - I have never allowed anyone to order for me. I am way too fussy to trust others.
Allie - how wonderful that someone is thinking of you. I don’t know that o would want a 13 year old and a newborn either. How old is Tracy?
Pat - we have never had a big freezer since being married, we have always lived within a 5 minute drive to a grocery store it never made sense to me.
I have never worn a hat, I suffered through a toque a few times as a preteen/teen. I never saw the sense in doing my hair and then putting a hat on. My eldest loves hats though.
Heather - how old is Johnny? Maybe his disturbances at night are forcing him to face some things he doesn’t want to face. It’s a tough position for both of you.
I am at home today, I do need to log in and do some education and test scenarios on our new payroll system. I can’t find time at work to do it.
I think I’ll go out tomorrow and get some Easter goodies for the Grands to drop at their house on Sunday.

The dating sites are teasing me with great matches hundreds of miles away. I couldn't leave my parents enough to do that, even for Mr. Perfect. Delaware just seems to be a dating desert for me. Discouraging.
One cup of green tea at 11:00 am yesterday and I was up until 5:00 am. Lesson learned for awhile at least. I slept most of this morning.
My ribs are sore from exercise. Probably a good thing.

Lisa my mom had a red bud in their yard. Gorgeous tree. I see them occasionally here. It is a bit too cold for them same with magnolias.0

ALLIE,”I broke down and ordered discovery + ,im trying to be frugal .but with being in the house alot ,there is a ton of content..so with tax 5.31 a month isnt horrible..you can get it without adds but thats 2 bucks more.”“
ALLIE, Can I pick your brain about getting the DISCOVERY NETWORK? My Sis has it,but she has the “Smart” TV. I know nothing about that. A friend is using ROKU to hook up DISCOVERY. Guess I just know nothing about the way to go. We have a regular TV . Did you have it installed or get it on line? Thanks so much for any info you can share.I agree,we all need some entertainment during the pandemic.

mammogram this morning at 9:30, got my results emailed to me already- no lumps, just some "scattered fibroglandular density"- looked it up, not to worry about.
Dentist Tuesday and then done with all medical appt. (except one for my eye I have to make).
Going to do an egg hunt with the daycare girl in a little bit- She isn't feeling great- allergies are kicking her butt.
Need to figure out what I am cooking for dinner on Sunday- thinking fish(the one thing all three of us like.

Today was sushi, a homemade red onion/diced tomato/ cucumber salad with Paul Newman's Own Italian dressing, a cup of coffee with a Frantz chocolate cream pie (in a package). It was all delightful.💖💖

Tracey- she is 32
Pat C- you can watch it most anywhere you can stream, tablet, phone ,laptop yes if you have a regular TV mighy not work.. but so far im enjoying it alot...0 -
Heavenly monkfish kebabs with brown rice salad. I made up a little sauce.
Tracey - He is 75. He gets frustrated that he can't do everything he used to. Since he bashed his head in the fall last July he has struggled, especially at night. This evening I suggested a wheel zimmer frame for the cruise, just to help him with balance at night to get to the toilet. I don't think he was impressed. He is very fit in general. At night he feels dizzy when he gets up and sometimes is wheezy. He has to get up four or five times a night. He does masses of exercise in the daytime.
I managed to keep my temper this afternoon when he was sitting in the living room watching football. Normally he goes into his study. I disappeared upstairs feeling very aggrieved, but I'm glad I kept quiet as he was watching his old team win.
We are going over to the grandchildren on Sunday for an hour or two in the afternoon in the garden. It will be chilly! I asked my son if he could provide tea and biscuits to keep us warm. He said, "only if you are good".

Heather what do you think about the guess the place in the background game on hugodecrypt ? (for others, this is a french news video by a young guy (around 25 years old) that became an easy way to get the gist of the news during the 1st crazy lockdown, without having to spend more than 10 minutes).
i found the background places annoying at first (too busy), but then i got into it. i think i guess at least generally at least half of the time even if i don't know the place (which is of course most of the time).
Heather, i'm sorry about your DH not wanting to go on cruise or travel home alone. If he did have to go home alone, perhaps you could plan to have him accompanied by professional person and or family. (like with kids or the physically or mentally disabled).
i can sympathize with you both.1 -

Tracey. - Oh my gosh, you have no idea how much I would love to have somebody help me go through my old stuff. I just gave all the Disney VHS tapes to a teacher. Some of the LPs smell musty and I suspect mildew. Not surprising, but it stymies me. I don’t have time or inclination to clean hundreds of old valuable but mildew-y LPs. Sheesh. It’s a challange.
I threw a bunch of old dolls away. It made me sad, but they were definitely mildewed and not salvageable. Plus raccoons got into some stuff in a shed. I could go on and on but it would make me too anxious. One thing at a time. I feel I’m supposed to be learning a life lesson here. Karma of some kind. Trying to keep my soul calm and open to what the universe is trying to tell me. Probably something about letting go...

With all the mammogram talk, it is very interesting to me that the doctors have always gone out of their way to leave while you are getting undressed and dressed and keep you covered everywhere except the spot where they are looking. My husband on the other hand, with his catheter issues - yesterday at the urologist they just say "drop your pants" and he does right in front of them. They are so matter of fact and professional, while I'm sitting in the corner dying, feeling like a stupid 13 year old wanting to giggle while the female NP is teaching him how to insert and remove his own catheter. I am so immature!5
-
Allie - 32 is still young, I hope they are successful.
Heather - I was curious about Johnny’s age. My Dad had low blood pressure and it was quite noticeable when he stood up after laying or sleeping for long hours.
Karen - when I was 12 I helped my grandmother and her sister clean out their childhood home and outbuildings. That’s when I fell in love with old things. I now have a few pieces of furniture, some dishes, a curling iron that you heat by putting in the chimney of an oil lamp. I would decorate with all antiques if I could.
I’ve since cleaned that Grandmother’s house and my parent’s house. I have a lot more old things because of that.
I did a bit more education today 3.5 hours, it’s not a fun way to spend my days off.

Did a DVD for the rebounder today. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Firm Defining Sculpt DVD
M – add me to the list of people who love your outfit
Heather – it’s so hard to see a person we love age. My heart goes out to you
Cut the grass and managed to get in over 5,000 steps. This morning fried fish for us to have next week, then to be sure it was cooked all the way thru baked it. After cutting the grass, put together a lasagna for Jess and Vince to have tomorrow. I will probably try a little bit.
Tracey – I would like Jess to do her residency in NC, but most of all, I want her to do it where she wants to do it. Sure, I’d love her to be in NC, but then again, the residency is only for a year. Who knows where she’ll be after that?
Played mahjongg online this morning. I really like it online. I don’t have to drive somewhere and that means more time to play! Then cleaned the windows inside in the living room, dining room, our bedroom and our bathroom. Next, downstairs. I told Vince that I would like to wash the curtains and need to really clean the windows in the sunroom, but I suspect that’ll mean that I’ll have to move my desk. Not sure how he has it all wired up, so I’m sort of leaving that up to him.

Started my day walking (from the parking garage at Kaiser to my dr. appt and back) and ended my day walking with my friend for an hour. Just checked and I am over 13,000 steps already. Didn't think I would have that much.
I would love to walk each day/evening but need to find someone to walk with- not into walking alone
Easter will be just the three of us, four if son's girlfriend comes over. I won't be cooking a lot- ham for husband, fish for son, (along with mac and cheese and deviled eggs for son), asparagus and then brownies for dessert.
