68 years old, Height: 5'6"
SW: 266 lbs (Dec 2019)
2/1/2020: 263.6
10/19/2020: 245.4
1/1: 251.2 gained after going back to work and being more sedentary
2/3: 250.4
2/6: 256.6 adjusted according to my new scale.
2/7: 255 -1.6 lbs lost of extra new scale weight
2/27: 254.8 -.2 but I went up to 257 so this is a loss of 2.2 lbs
2/28: 253.4
April low: 255.2
May 1: 257.8
CW: 256 (May 18)
1st GW: 220 The lowest weight I got to when I last lost significant weight.
2nd GW: Onderland 1st, maintain for a few weeks then
3rd GW: 186 overweight but not obese
4th GW: 150 lbs. Healthy weight Then evaluate what weight is best for me. I just want to get to a healthy weight for me.
May Goal weight: Under 250.
Goals:
Get 8+ glasses of water, log in calories daily, get enough sleep and stay under my calorie goal. I don't meet this most days but I am keeping intake up
Up N.E.A.T. (steps, stairs, cleaning, gardening, and cooking)
Get regular exercise:
• 1-2 strength training a week (1 with weights and later add back in 1 with resistance bands after a week or 2 if my elbow doesn’t start hurting again) started back on weight training
• 5 days of exercise (Start with 25 minutes and work up to 45-60 minutes for most days) doing good with this but didn't exercise yesterday. Sometimes I make up for missed days on the weekend.
Meal plan so we avoid grocery shopping and make healthy meals at home. Limit take out to once a week (not junk food). Yesterday I meal planned and ordered our food for the week for pick up. However we have had more take out this month than I would like. I think this is what is slowing the weight loss
Take another step towards lowering sugar intake. Working on this. We will see how it goes. Plan to make a lower fat and sugar ice milk to replace ice cream when I have it.
Wait to have breakfast until I feel hungry while I am working remotely. doing well at this
Up my vegetables and make sure I have fruit daily. Lower sugar and simple carbs. starting to make more progress with this
My weight is going up and down so these are my lows. That is how I can see where I am going when my lows are lower and my highs are lower. Very slowly going down. I didn't get any exercise in yesterday. Will have to do something about that today.

@kelMee2 and @JNettie73 I’m glad I’m not alone with nobody noticing my weight loss. I have definitely learned over the years to not really care what other people think of me. I just think it would boost my morale if someone noticed. I’ll just keep going anyway.
I haven’t really noticed anyone else treating me any differently, but I still don’t go out much. I know I’ve become invisible to men since putting weight back on. Lol!2 -
@jazzadesigns I’ve lost 35lbs and the only people who have said things are those who know I am losing. In my circles, people seem to not want to come off as offensive because a couple of times I have referenced something in conversation like “working to make healthy choices” and then they will follow up with, “I THOUGHT you looked different but I just didn’t want to say anything!” The closest I have gotten to a comment was my friend’s husband who I hadn’t seen in a year. He said, “something is different about you but I don’t know what” 😂
@uyister Thanks for the encouragement! My old clothes came through for me and I now have two “new” pairs of pants and 5-6 tops that I can wear. Woohoo! I may or may not have been so excited with my NSV that I danced around the kitchen. I am currently eyeing two pairs of size 10 pants that I only wore a few times before I gained so they are really truly almost new. I can’t quite wear them yet but soon!7 -
Hey ladies! I'm glad to see this thread has stayed active - I'm back home now and ready to get back on track. I logged everything to the best of my ability while we were traveling, so I'm proud of me for that. Not quite as proud of me for being over by 1500 today, LMAO, but I'll pick it back up tomorrow. I did do my Youtube kickboxing workout tonight when we got home, after spending six hours sitting in the car, instead of just skipping it, so I'm gonna say that counts as well. The only deviations from my planned exercise were (1) yoga on Saturday instead of Ring Fit Adventure, because we didn't bring the equipment for that, and (2) I skipped Monday morning yoga entirely. I still got a lot of walking in throughout the time we were away, so I'm not too upset about it. We hit up a farmer's market in the town where we went to college on Friday evening and got some pickled garlic and some spicy dill pickled cucumbers - the spicy cukes are some real heaters, so I think Spicy (habanero + bird's eye) was the better choice between that and Extra Spicy (ghost + Carolina reaper). I can't wait to see how the flavor develops; they were just packed on the 11th, so after another few weeks, we'll have to see what they taste like. We also got some local honey, so I'm looking forward to that as well.5

Thanks everyone for your good wishes for the IVF
I've lost 28lbs since I started. One of the compliments I received came from a girl at work who is herself always dieting, a few days after we briefly discussed that I was on a low calorie diet. She said she could tell that I had lost weight, especially around my face. She was surprised when I told her how much I'd lost.
My best friend, my sister and my partner are also emphatic that I am looking slimmer, but of course they are all totally aware of everything I've been doing! Personally, I'm waiting for my mother to notice -- but after years of us fighting about my weight (she's skinny and has always been quite vain about it) she probably wouldn't dare to mention anything unless I showed up in the body of a supermodel...
Weight can be such a sensitive topic... Before I started this process only a few months ago, I used to get so indignant at the merest hint from others that I wasn't as healthy as they dared to think I could be... "How dare they!"
So to be honest, I think until the weight loss is really drastic, or you are seen in a different place/clothes/light, even people who do notice won't necessarily say anything for fear of offending.
So don't be disheartened. But maybe, start a conversation about it and see what people say!6 -
I usually come down on the side of "don't say anything about a person's body unless you know what their goals are, because they have told you." Not all weight loss or gain, or other change in body size/proportions, is purposeful or desired, and any change i notice might not have happened for pleasant reasons. Now, if i know the person is trying to change their body in some way because they've told me about their journey, then i know if i see progress in that direction that they probably would be okay with me saying something, but in most cases it's safer to let them tell me, like say "so how's the training going?" or if an eating plan comes up in conversation say "how's that working for you so far?" That kind of thing.6

Halfway through the week, how is everyone feeling?
I'm sticking within my calories and still walking, using my weights and my bike, I think I overdid it on Saturday though and spent Saturday night and Sunday with an achy hip and back. I've always had hip issues, they got worse after I had my kids but this is the first time it's been sore in a while. Weight wise things are looking positive so far I'm hoping I'm on track to hit the target I gave myself for this month, I was too optimistic last month and gave myself a target that was too high and didn't hit it but this months target isnt too far away so fingers crossed I get there. I'm trying to decide what my next mini goal should be, when I started my first mini goal was to lose 14lbs, my next one was to get to onederland now I'm thinking maybe 190lbs which is halfway to my goal weight. I find giving myself mini goals is less overwhelming than thinking about the overall amount I need to lose it seems more achievable if I break it down into smaller targets. Hope you're all having a good week so far and staying motivated and that this week gets you all one step closer to your goals.5 -
I’m the same way kelMee2 with mini goals. I have such a large amount of weight to lose that I shoot for five pounds at a time. By the end of May I wanted to hit 215 and now that I’ve reached it my next goal is to get under 210. Breaking it up makes it feel more manageable. I’ve been doing good so far staying within my calorie goal and exercising this week. I’m really motivated to look decent by the time my daughter’s first birthday in October since we are having a party for her with family and there will be lots of pictures. I just want to look good in pictures again and not feel so embarrassed. Even though I’ve lost weight I don’t see any changes in the mirror. I did a side by side comparison of my face from January of this year to May and wow it really opened my eyes and gave me some encouragement! I could really tell my face slimmed down. I hope everyone else is making progress.6

A binge last night owing to pain, but better today, though I have felt exhausted and achy all day. I am only staying out of bed because dinner is elaborate and has to be started about 3 to be ready at 5. I may get some bike time in, but I don't see the gym as happening.4

New to MFP. Just looking to make friends and help people and get help staying on track myself. I've been here 5 days and at my heaviest I was 321lbs in Nov.2018. My first day I weighed in at 279.2 and today I weighed in at 277.4.

Hi @pamelaromanczuk25 , I'm new to the forums, though I've been off and on MFP for several years. Here's to support and community! Best of luck and I hope I see you around here often.2
-
Yep, mini goals are how I break it up in my mind.. That's why I didn't quite catch the whole 'onederland' thing, because I work in stone and lbs, so in my mind I was aiming for the next stone bracket down, as in going from 14 stone something, to seeing 13 stone something on the scales. I work in half stone goals, so I'm hoping at weigh-in tomorrow I will have reached the 13 stone numbers. From there I will work towards hitting 13 and a half etc, those are my milestones.. Fingers crossed the scale has budged this week. 🤞
Keep at it ladies, you're all doing great. ❤️5 -
@CariTJR I work in stones and pounds too but find it easier to use pounds on here as its only people from the UK that seem to understand a stone. I'm close to seeing 13 as my first number on the scale which I'm looking forward to cause when I started my first number was 15 and wasn't far away from 16. My weight loss chart works in stones and pounds so I love getting a drop and adding the next sticker then it let's me see how close I am to my next target. Good luck for this week's weigh in.4

doing well, hitting below my calorie marks and macros are pretty close. Drinking lots of water and trying to stay away from sodium. I have a ton of yard work to do this weekend so I'll earn back some extra calories. Do you all eat your exercise calories or not? I've heard many people do half and half - eat back half because of the extra exertion, but not the other half to continue with weight loss. Your thoughts? Happy Thursday everyone!3
-
@azalea4175 I eat back half my exercise calories and my losses have been quite consistent since I've been doing that. The reason I only eat half is because sometimes apps overestimate calories burned so if I only eat half my exercise calories then I know I'm not accidentally eating more than I've burned and that I'm still within my calorie goal.5

Hello everyone! I was part of the group last year but stepped away for awhile due to a rocky health year. I had gained back a lot of what I lost, then lost it again!
Age: 35
Height: 5'8"
SW (end of 12/2020) 245
CW: 212
Goal this month: 210. I want to be well under the 210s by my birthday next month5 -

You're definitely not alone. I had lost almost 45lbs when people at work started to notice. Most of what was said was "you can really tell it in your face". At least they noticed!5 -
@azalea4175 Thank you for your kind words. I truly am amazed at my accomplishments I have made so far and have no intention of giving up. Lately, I've been doing a lot of deep thinking about how people treat others who struggle with weight issues. I do feel there is a stigma around people of larger sizes and society doesn't treat us the same. It really bothers me. I hope that when I eventaully reach my goal I always remember where I came from and to treat others with nothing but kindness.
In regards to eating exercise calories back, in the past I have eaten them back and had a lot of success with that method. This time around I am not eating them back. But I am trying to control my glucose levels. Right now not eating them back is working for me. This may change once I follow up with my doctor.
@Jazzadesigns Hopefully someone will notice soon. You are doing a fantastic job!
@girlinkaz My husband and I were just having a similar conversation. I think you are correct. Some people may notice but not want to say anything out of fear of saying something insulting. Congrats on the old clothes fitting and those pants soon to fit. That is so exciting!
I took some draw string cotton shorts out of the drawer the other day and put on to walk my daughter to the bus stop. I noticed while walking they didn't get stuck between my thighs and ride up on me like they have done in the past. I was pretty excited. My husband laughed at me when I told him how excited I was. He just doesn't get it. LOL
@goal06082021 Sounds like you had a fun trip. If you don't mind me asking, where did you go?
@kelMee2 and @SammiGirl1321 I agree. I do better with mini goals rather than a larger goal.
@SammiGirl1321 I can relate to the pictures. I don't have a lot of pictures of me with my daughter because I hate how I look in pictures and often cringe when I see them. The other part of not having a lot of pictures is I am always the one taking them. So naturally I have a lot of pictures of my husband with my daughter. I have a feeling you are going to look fantastic in your pictures!
@pamelaromanczuk25 Welcome. Congratulations on your loss so far. Feel free to add me if you like.

@JNettie73 We did! My husband and I are fully vaccinated now and he had a week off between semesters (he's going back to school to retrain in a new field), so we decided to get out of the house for a minute. We went to see friends and family who are also vaxed - my dad and his wife; my SIL and her fiance; and our friend who was stuck overseas for much of the pandemic. We also spent a day wandering around our old college town, which was nice - that place is about halfway between Dad and SIL, so we just made a day of it.5

HOW did each of my weigh ins this month end up not only at exactly -2lbs each but also at a precise number?! No clue. You can’t make this stuff up. I am mostly recovered from my injury this week and can slowly get back into my HIIT workouts, which is doing wonders for my mental health. I’m glad to have had the service setback though because I did learn to be more flexible and (hopefully) take life as it comes.
One day last week, I overate my calories because I was over at a friend’s house for dinner and hadn’t saved enough calories during the day for dinner out. While that is a huge deal by any means, I did notice that the next day I felt bloated and gross (because I ate more carbs and refined sugars the day before), so I had no desire to overeat again and instead wanted tons of veggies. What I ate that night out was a tiny drop in the bucket compared to what I used to consume regularly - and it makes me hopeful that I am actually making permanent ang long lasting lifestyle changes (while still being able to let loose on occasion)!
I hit 100 days of logging this week which, while I know it’s nothing compared to a lot of you all, felt like a big deal to me as I strive for consistency and habit-creation. I also did a few progress photos this week to remind myself how far I’ve come and honestly, I look at the girl in my first picture (from Jan) and I don’t recognize her anymore! It’s surprising how easy it is to forget even though it’s only been a few months. I find the pictures are super helpful because it gets me encouraged to keep moving forward.
Wishing you all the best on your journeys this week!

I've had a lot of pain today from my midfoot. I really hope it's not a stress fracture. Of course, if it is, a doctor will tell me to stay off it and wear solid shoes, and I can do that without seeing a doctor. So the next few days my activity will be very carefully designed to avoid too much weightbearing. The bike is probably out, but I think I can do the weight work tomorrow if I avoid any machine that assumes I'm going to push with my feet, or stabilize myself by shoving my feet against something.
I did get through the shopping today in braces, but was so exhausted by the background dull ache that once I ate I wanted to nap, so I did. I'll probably have a hot bath tonight and four ibuprofen before bed, and see if I can sleep. Because this hurt bad enough that when I woke up at four am this morning to use the bathroom I couldn't go back to sleep for the pain. And that's saying something.

1st GW: 220 The lowest weight I got to when I last lost significant weight.

3rd GW: 186 overweight but not obese
4th GW: 150 lbs. Healthy weight Then evaluate what weight is best for me. I just want to get to a healthy weight for me.
May Goal weight: Under 250.
Goals:- Get 8+ glasses of water, log in calories daily, get enough sleep and stay under my calorie goal.
- Up N.E.A.T. (steps, stairs, cleaning, gardening, and cooking)
- Get regular exercise:
- 1-2 strength training a week (1 with weights and later add back in 1 with resistance bands after a week or 2 if my elbow doesn’t start hurting again)started back on weight training

- Take another step towards lowering sugar intake.

- Up my vegetables and make sure I have fruit daily
I seemed to be slowly losing this week. I haven't gotten all my exercise in but having some pain so taking it easier. We haven't had take out yet except that my youngest went out for some espresso and pastries this morning. I shared mine with my husband so not too bad. I have done well eating breakfast later. I need to have a small nutritious snack right after work.
I did the math and If I was using my old scale I would be in the 240s now. I think my new scale is more accurate but I have lost more than it looks like if I subtract the difference between the 2 scales. So in this sense I am near where I was before I started to go back to work in November. I have lost most of what I gained in the end of last year. I am within a few pounds of my low of last year. I still want to lose the 6+pounds that the scale change added. If I add 6+lbs to my starting weight I get 272.6 and I am at 255. 6 now. So I have lost 17 lbs. I had lost 20 pounds last year before I started working so I have 3 more to go to get where I was in October 2020. I wanted to ignore the extra lbs of the scale adjustment but I think the apparent lack of progress wasn't helping me lose the 5 lbs I had gained going back to work. I think adding another 6 lbs just made it seem more onerous and I got discouraged in the process. When I was younger 11+ pounds was easier to lose faster. I always lose then gain when I start a new job until I can turn it around. The time before this I gained 40 pounds back before turning it around. This time I gained about 5 pounds. I have actually turned it around and I am making progress it just doesn't look like it due to that new scale issue.6 -
@girlinkaz you look fantastic2
-
@girlinkaz thanks for sharing your photos! You look great!
@AlexandraFindsHerself1971 I’m sorry you’re in so much pain! I hope it gets resolved soon!
@KeriA your scale issue sounds frustrating! I recently bought a new scale and fortunately it was really close in weight to my old one.2 -

GW for 2021: 196
UGW: 144, end of 2022
OK, I successfully maintained for the week I was away from home. I can live with that. I clearly won't reach my May GW - it was rather ambitious, though, so again, I can live with that.
Work has decreed that WFH is over as of 6/1. My department has been on a split schedule with 3 days in-office and 2 days WFH for about the last year, minus a few weeks FT in-office at the end of last year; my WFH days were Monday and Friday, which was really nice. I am pretty bummed about losing that, but my organization is run by dinosaurs who are more concerned about butts in seats and not actual effectiveness or even reasonable performance metrics, so I knew this was coming eventually. I am vaccinated, at least, so I feel better about being in the office FT, and most of my appointments will be virtual/phone based for the next few months anyway.
That does mean I need to basically retool my entire daily/weekly routine and the division of labor in the house, since I had been timing certain chores based on being able to WFH two days a week. At least now that we're a 6 AM household I have time for a real workout and shower on Friday mornings - I don't have to waste my time noodling around trying not to break a sweat for ten minutes while still trying to burn a calorie or two, which is what I was doing in November and December. I'm also planning to get back into the gym next month, so I also need to decide when that's going to be and what I'm going to do while I'm there. I think I want to focus more on lifting/resistance training while I'm at the gym, since I can't do that at home.5 -
So I decided to weigh in early this week and change my weigh in days back to Fridays. The scale did go down some which is good since I’m weighing in less than a week from my last weigh and I ate a California burrito last night! I rode my Peloton last night and it was a tough workout. I’m convinced if I use it regularly for the next several months I will have nice, tone legs.
May 1st- 218.6
May 8th- 216
May 15th-215.2
May 21st- 214.6
I am under the goal I wanted for the end of May so my next goal is to get under 210. I’m trying to get my workouts in now because I start classes back up this fall online for Speech language and communication disorders and will be a full time student on top of being a mom so I will be super busy. I will have to fit in a workout at least 3 times a week and the rest will be all study time! One pound at a time.6 -

I made my first mini goal! I am now officially in the '13 stone' club. Yippee. 😁 Clearly I'm happy with this week's weight-in, and a nice 4 lb loss to catch up with no loss last week. It's all about persevering and not throwing the towel in when you hit a wall, keep at it and it will come.
So, the walking each day goal is going nowhere, literally. It hasn't stopped bloody raining all week, I'm so over this weather right now, it's doing my head in. Every time I think it's cleared up, I go outside and end up soaked. It's not funny anymore, where is summer? 🌞
We may have got the house we viewed on Monday, we're just waiting for the final checks to be done and providing everything is fine then they will confirm our moving in date. I'm so hoping it goes through as it's a quirky little house in the village up the road and would be a massive relief to know we have secured somewhere to live. Keep your fingers crossed for us.
Reading everyone's posts is so motivating, I'm picking up good tips and different views on things. Keep doing what you're doing and stay safe everyone, you're all fabulous.6 -
I just realised my ages is now wrong, I was 45 on Tuesday haha. Opps. 🤔7

Nice loss!
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in SLP - what are you planning to do with yours? (I realized I didn't want to work with children with autism or old people with swallowing disorders, and those are basically the only two populations that exist where I am, so I haven't pursued SLP as a career since finishing that BS in 2015. The classes were really interesting though!)2 -
@goal06082021
Oh that’s awesome! I’m actually interested in working with kids who have delays/autism. My son had a speech delay and as a parent of a child who needed speech therapy the unknowns can be scary. He has since made significant progress but it’s what inspired me to enter the field. I do believe he has some sensory issues so I need to set up an appointment to have him assessed to see if he may have high functioning autism.
