Transitioning from SparkPeople

Like many other former SparkPeople users, I’m migrating here to keep track of my food and exercise. I’ve already seen several familiar faces in the community feed from SparkPeople.

There are a lot of us now. I just got back onto SparkPeople in April, so it's a real bummer to see that it's getting shut down.7

I am a former Sparker too. I am relly going to miss the social aspects of SP. I am currently trying to enter my food and its just not as easy as on SP. I will get the hack of it I am sure.4

Hello! I am a former Sparker too. I have been on and off Spark over the years. Just recently got back to it in May. So I hadn't got back to being too active on the community feed. My name on there was MeganM_07. I'm disappointed in their decision to close it down. I'm not quite sure yet how I feel about the way calories are counted on here. But I suppose change just takes some getting use to. And this is one of the better apps I've tried for sure.
Please feel free to add me on here if you wish to. Have a great day!

I have been a member on MFP for awhile although haven't done much with it as also on WW and Sparkpeople. Of course it is just to much to keep up with so with Sparkpeople not keeping us Canadians on I thought it would be a good time to get working on MFP again. Tracking and walking!7

Yep, I'm a Sparker in need of some way to track food/fitness when SP goes down for good in August so I came here. Having a few navigation problems, but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it. Feel free to add me if you wish!4

Me too! Clearly I was taking SparkPeople for granted. I loved it! I hope Myfitnesspal will keep me as motivated.5

Also coming over from Sparkpeople. I need a real food and exercise tracker. The new site doesn't have one yet, perhaps never. I am still holding out hope they can get the teams back together. The 5% challenge was so helpful!1

Also here from Spark to try out MFP. I agree it is hard to start from scratch. On Spark 12 years and had a
system to track easily and quickly. Like to use tracker to plan meals ahead. Keeps me on target. Did not
miss a day since July 2, 2009. Lost sixty pounds and have maintain thanks to Spark, feeling orphaned.7 -

I am in the same boat, I was on Spark faithfully since 2012 and had a 1551 day login streak going, have lost 70 pounds, lead some teams there, and feel abandoned, so now I'm looking for a replacement. I'm trying to figure out syncing with my Fitbit, it seems to be a bit different here. I'll get the hang of it. I'm glad that there are other tracking sites to try, like this one.5 -
Hi everyone! I too am from SP. I joined a group called NEEDING SUPPORT WITH WEIGHT LOSS. The group was started by my leader from SP. Check it out. Join us. WE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE YOU THERE!!3

Another from SP.3

I checked out the "new SparkAmerica" site. Not impressed. No indication that food tracking would be up and coming. That was what made my journey to goal possible. I need to keep it up to avoid regaining the 85 pounds shed. Now I need to figure out how to sync my Garmin tracker!8

Me too!3

I'm from SparkPeople too (10 years). I'm still there til the end, but, will get acclimated here too. Sigh5

I'm from SparkPeople as well. Due to my health, I had to take a break and was just getting restarted. So now I'm trying to readjust my plans. I'm really going to miss the support of other Sparkers and the Tracking system. I wish they had let us know they were in trouble financially and perhaps we could have helped with a small monthly fee. SparkAmerica is very different.4

I am also making this transition. Seeing this post makes the transition a bit easier. I was feeling very low about moving. Now I feel better. Thanks for this. Good to "see" everyone from Spark!

Tracker is supposed to be coming among other things.3 -

85 pounds! That's awesome! Tracker is supposed to be coming by the time they shut down SP.3 -
Another one here from there.3

Hello, another Spark refuge -- I think I joined 7 different sites in order to check them out - this one seems to have most of the things I wanted - the community is the important thing for me. Also from 🇨🇦6

I'm from SP, too. I actually wanted to try MFP ages ago, but I had all my regular foods and groups saved with SP and I didn't want to start over. I've been on SP since 2008 and it's the only thing that's worked for me! I can do the same thing here, though, and I actually know more people here. I actually like the food tracker here better!6

My SP name was MondayLins. Any Spring 5% Challenge Shooting Stars team members on here?4
-
I had been on SparkPeople many years ago (ediets prior to that), if anyone happens to be from those groups. I've found the groups under the Motivation tab to be very similar with the motivations etc that I liked from those sites.
I've liked the tracker here better the last few years4 -
I'm another sparker who was active in a few teams and 5% challenges, the last few as a leader. I've been focusing on maintenance but never did quite reach that "magic" goal weight so I'm going to give it a shot and see if I can drop another 9 pounds. I'll continue being active on SP - there's one last "hurrah" 5% challenge to go and I'm a co-CL for my team for the first (and of course last) time. I really wanted to find another site that gives me some of the strong community that I got with SP so I'm checking out a couple of apps and trying to get used to them before SP totally shuts down. My SP ID was RETIREDSUE4

Hi I came over from spark people.4
-
Glad to see this happening. I've been on Spark for so many years, way more than I'd like to say and it was always the most positive part of my day. I was FullMetalBlunt for years and recently WinterSoldier83. I'll miss having so much of my food saved and all my data from years of tracking, but this place is starting to look promising.5
-
Hello another Sparkpeople orphan. New to MFP. Not sure if Im doing this right. But Hey....Lets do this!5
-
Yes I’m migrating here from SparkPeople hello Fam.5
-
Nice to meet you. I was crushed when I heard SP was shutting down.4
