NSV = non-scale victory. Basically, some other success or benefit you are seeing besides the number on the scale.3 -

Yesterday, for the first time, I managed 10K steps. Congrats to everyone. Reading everyone's accomplishments in this thread is super motivating. Thanks to all.19

Climbing through my car because the Tesla driver parked too close is much easier than it used to be. Then I realised that I didn't need to because I don't need to open the driver door as wide to get in as I used to.
Downside is that I now have wrinkles in the weirdest places, including my underarm, breast, thigh and belly button. Hopefully the skin will shrink eventually, but I still have a lot of fat to lose.10 -
I have been working out on and off for the last couple years (more off this last year) but have always hated running. With gyms closed, and weather nice, I figured it was worth giving it a shot as a main goal. In a handful of runs, I went from hardly being able to run a km without having to walk to being able to run 10, getting faster almost every time. The progress as you lose weight is staggering.
It's not amazing speed wise, but I ran my fastest 3 and 5 k today, 15.51 and 27.53 respectively.19 -
I'm so new here that I don't have any scale victories yet, but I had my first NSV yesterday: Went to the grocery store and bought only veggies, fruit, and Greek yogurt. It just looked so healthy and inspirational up there on the conveyor belt, I couldn't help smiling.24

Went shopping at my favorite thrift store yesterday. Looked only for colorful clothes in size medium. Bought three blouses and a dress. For years I haven't owned a dress except for my wedding dress (32 years old). Didn't even try these clothes on. Just brought all my "mediums" home and performed a style show for my sweet hubby. All fit. Can't wait to wear my new dress. It's been a long time since I felt pretty. Wish my dear parents could see me now. They'd be so happy. Perhaps they can.29

I just returned from a 12 day vacation which included a river cruise and a stay on either end in 2 cities. I made a lot of healthy choices while I was away but I also indulged a lot. I made conscious decisions about what I ate, but I have a price to pay now that I am home. My NSV is that I didn't panic over my weight gain. I didnβt develop the mind set that βIβve blown it so I may as well eat what I want.β I got right back into healthy eating when I got home. It feels good to be in control.

Two weeks ago I finished my first 5.10, but hadnβt been able to do it again. This morning I got a 5.10-, that same 5.10, and a 5.10+! The 5.10+ didnβt feel hard at all. And bonus, met another partner-less climber at my gym so Iβll actually get to top rope more often, try new routes, and start pushing myself a little more.6

30 lb weight loss8

I finished week 1 of Insanity without skipping any push ups and taking no more breaks than the pro cast.
Also, I can feel my muscles working this time around. Last time I committed fully to this, my body played its own skin-slapping tune.11 -
yesterday my 32 year old daughter hugged me. then she said she needed to make a facebook post saying that for the first time in her life she hugged me and her hands touched. it felt great for my success at weight loss, 265 pounds today, but sad for seeing in personal terms how long i was hugely obese and the results of being like that.29

I doubled my bike-ride distance, while completing it in the same time limit (35 mins)... in 30 days.21

I was feeling discouraged that I am in a bit of a stall with the scale, so I took measurements yesterday and have lost 6 inches off my body in the past couple of months! My clothes are fitting much better and I feel much slimmer. I have also been able to wear my wedding ring comfortably again. This weight lifting is paying off! πͺ20

Facebook memories today reminded me of a pair of jeans I bought, this time last year. They were a size 16 in a company known to run big.
Today I'm somewhere between a 6 and a 10, depending on brand.
I'm thoroughly sick of buying new clothes and having to move things that don't fit out but. Yeah, I'll take it.15 -
Objectively kind of lame, but progress for this ol' gal: I got a chin-up (palms toward me) then a nose-up (same move, just short 2-3 inches), then repeated the same after a minute. It's short of what I wish I could do, but I'm working on it.32

Today marks 1 year since my a1c was 9.5 and my liver values were through the roof. My a1c was 5.1 today and has been in normal range for 6 months, my liver values have been within normal for nine months, I've logged 355 days on Mfp and yesterday was my biggest step day since starting to use my fitbit at over 16000. (And I've lost 51 lbs so far). I've never stuck with an exercise routine or tried to eat healthier for longer than 6 weeks in my lifetime. I struggle sometimes with missing my old habits but I'm glad I keep coming back to it and am very happy with this past year's results.23

That's not lame at all. Pull-ups (not the same but close enough) are oddly my favorite exercise, probably because I use to rock climb. When I started getting healthy again I couldn't come close do doing a single rep, but I could do negatives. Use a chair or stool to get to the top position and then slowly and with control lower yourself down. Do multiple sets of those with multiple reps and you'll be able to do more of the full movement in no time. That's how I got back into it and now I can do 5 sets of 7 or 8. Still not at my goal but it's a lot better than where I started.
Keep going, you'll get it.10 -

Negatives are how I got this far. π5 -

In that case, how will I be able to take credit for any of your future success?
Just kidding. Keep at it and you'll be cranking out reps sooner than you think. I still remember how excited I was when I did 3 clean reps in a row. From 2 to 3 was a hurdle for me, then things started to pick up.6 -
In 2016 I was diagnosed with heart failure.
I was 237kg and the right side of my heart enlarged and wasn't working hard enough.
Its been slowly getting better ever since. With scans every 6-12 months (covid messed things around)
Last week i received a letter from cardiologist, for my second test in a row, my heart is entirely normal in appearance and both sides are functionig within the normal range. So i am discharged from the cardiologist and i dont need to see them any more.
And this is the nsv page but i weigh 114kg now.61 -

That's outstanding!5 -
I seem to have gone up a grade at bouldering recently. I now flash v3, and my standard project is v4. I have got v5 very occasionally.
My goal is to get to v6 before my birthday - I am 50 in October. (I won't be climbing on the day, as I will be scuba diving in rural Cornwall.)8 -
Mixed emotions NSV. In 2020 when I started this journey I bought a beautiful wedding band and diamond. This week I had to put it away until I feel I am at a stable weight. My husband suggested trying on a pinky ring that I had put away because it did not fit. It now fits my ring finger. It's beautiful so at least I still feel married. ππππ₯° I'll get the other sized eventually.19

I looked in the mirror and realized my face is looking thinner/smaller/better defined. Not that I was the Kool-Aid man before, but I definitely was looking...jowly...and now I'm not.19

I got a lovely slinky dress in a medium today which my husband thinks looks great- and another dress I tried was fine over my stomach - but too tight over my boobs. That's the kind of bad fitting that makes you feel great!15

I'm just feeling good today!24

When I went to pick up my mom for lunch today the first thing she said was "you've lost a lot of weight!" I said thank you and that it was only 2 to 3 pounds since I last saw her and she said "no it looks like a lot more than that!" I have a long way to go but it felt great to have her notice! π18

Realized today my arms are now hanging, once again, next to my sides and touching my sides! When I had put on weight during the last year, they kinda stuck out ..like, fat under my arms or from my back made them stick out away from my middle when relaxed. Now..they're back to hanging down where they should be23

Today is the first day in a long time I walked more than 30,000 steps22
