Very few people have noticed the 50lbs that are missing, but today, I wore a shirt that I had put in the back of my closet because it was getting a little snug around the mid section. One of my co-workers said I looked homeless because my clothes are baggy and my pants look like they are falling off. I've put off buying new clothes, but maybe it's time?28

It's time!! You will visual the difference once you have some clothes that fit and others will notice too.16 -
I needed to wear a suit for the first time in quite a while due to Covid. I couldn’t find my “dress” belt and accidentally grabbed an old one. It wasn’t even close to fitting! Great feeling!20

Ran my fastest time in many years—16:38 for two miles, and mile 2 was 7:59 min mile. Haven’t run a sub 8 min mile in a very long time!!22

I dropped off my first pile of size 22 clothes at Goodwill this morning. As I gained weight on and off over the years, I was bound and determined that I'd never buy a size bigger than that even when they got tight. So that kept my weight somewhat in check. I can't wait until that becomes a size 12 or smaller. On the way...23

I went to the gym three times in the same week - twice before work!25

Got up the nerve to try on the size small underwear I bought yesterday, and it fits NOW!! My husband said I looked good in it. He also said I feel different when he hugs me.31

This may seem like I’m going backwards but, I got rid of clothes that are too small. Every time I looked in my closet, I’d beat myself up for gaining weight. I decided that, if I do lose weight, I’ll buy all new clothes! I’m really working on self care and part of that is getting rid of things that make me feel bad about myself. Like a closet full of clothes that are too small.31

I have 2 both related to a wedding we recently went to out of town.
1. I actually like how I look in the pictures. Sure, I can find flaws if I try, but overall pleased To be in the pictures was one of my big motivators and goals. I had noticed that I was really avoiding cameras or hiding in the back and honestly didn't want my kids to look back at memories and me not be there.
2. My clothes take up a LOT less room in a suitcase - SO WEIRD! Consequently, I took way to many shoes.18 -

What a great NSV. Such a gift to meet yourself where you are and love yourself! Well done!12 -
Went on holiday. Gained 5 lbs. Right back on track when I came home. Lost 3 lbs in 5 days. In the past, it would take me weeks to get my act together. My mindset is changing for the better and I am proud of myself!!!21

Good for you!! I don't think that's going backwards at all. I mean, the whole point of this journey is to get healthy and feel good, so anything that takes your mind back to an unhealthy place needs to go if possible. It's no different than getting all the "fat clothes" out of your closet when they get too big. You made some positive headspace for the new you that's emerging. Well done!!11 -
Small NSV I went from the third hook straight to the 1st hook on my bra!22

Thank you for sharing that. It’s the inspiration I’ve been needing. I have begun something similar in regards to reducing what I eat. I tell myself that I can always have more if I really want it but I start with a smaller portion. Most of the time I don’t go back for more.
I'm going to try this. I've passed my original weight loss goal - down just over 100 pounds - but am having a heck of a time losing 25 pound to get to my new goal. Body/brain is resisting so hard! I can see telling myself I can always have more if I really want it working for me. Might ease the panic mode that seems to be setting in lately. Thank you!11 -
Today after my PT strength workout at the gym, I didn't feel done, so I went to a local park to do my next C25K installment which was W2D2. I started out walking as planned. Then all at once this spark of rebellion flared up and I took off running as fast as I could like a little kid!! I ran as fast as I could for as long as I wanted to. Then I walked until I wanted to run again. Did this for the whole trail and didn't look at my fitbit once to see what I was "supposed" to be doing. It was SO much FUN!!! And at the end I found out I'd done a mile at 13:58 which is one minute faster than my personal best. Sometimes it's just nice to toss the rules out the window and just play!!35

I can fit into my pre pregnancy leggings and wear them comfortably. They are leggings so clearly stretchy but it's certainly on the way.25

Yesterday, I spent a day at the office and went home quite late. When I passed the shops in the train station, I was reminded of how hungry I was. In the past I would have bought a salty snack to tide me over till dinner an hour later, but yesterday I bought a box of cherry tomatoes to snack on.
I did also buy a small bag of lentil chips 😁 but I saved those for after dinner, when I was sure I had enough calories left.23 -
I had got down to my goal weight in 2018 and maintained a few years until October 2020. I grew slowly, stabilized, grew some more, and stabilized. I'm back on the way down, but that's all about the scale. So let me go on....
I have to go back to before I started to be serious about weight management. I had sort of tried but not so hard for a few years then really went after it in 2018. The reason was I saw some pictures of myself from a Grand Canyon rafting trip. I didn't like what I saw. I have been struggling mentally with the extra ten pounds or so that I put back on, but then this happened:
I am just back from a river trip. There was a picture that I was in. Even at my current mass, I actually liked what I saw. I now give myself permission to remain close to my current weight and not stress about getting back down to my previous goal.
I am still going to try to get there, but if I don't, I need to remember that I'm actually doing really well for a middle-aged guy.
Thanks for letting me share.29 -
Walked 2.06 miles today ( hills galore) with no breaks.21

I reached out to my sister in law who is also on MFP and has had success for reconditions on easy low fat food products. Then I made a list, went to the store and only bought what was on the list. Part of that list was healthier options for my sweet tooth. I ended up with some delicious items that seemed to do the after dinner dessert trick! I actually feel excited to see the changes that I know will come.21

Found out that I had severe sleep apnea (53 apnea events per hour).
Freaked out.
Got my CPAP.
Freaked out some more.
I've worn it for a week now every night, the whole night, even while freaking out about it.
Now I have slept just enough to log back in here and start using the food diary.
You know when they say that if you find yourself in a hole that the first thing to do is to stop digging? Well I have hurled that shovel out of the hole.30 -

I love this! Self love is a wonderful thing to find on your journey

Well, my body just whooshed again, and the pants I bought last week already require a belt. So, today I went back to the store to buy them in a smaller size. Tried them on the dressing room, and took a US size 6.
That was supposed to be my NSV for today, and it still kinda is. Except that I left the store empty handed because I had a panic attack in the dressing room over being this small. It's been building the last few days, since I first hit a milestone weight that I associate with some past trauma. Last time I got down to this size I immediately started regaining to feel safe again, but this time I'm determined not to let that happen. So, my NSV today is that I changed my calories to maintenance so I can stay in this place long enough to deal with the issues and the emotions it represents.
So, tonight I'm sitting here with my journal, my Bible, a snuggly cat, and a determination to deal with this crap and put it behind me once and for all. I will NOT let the past stop me from enjoying my body at a healthy, attractive weight, and I will NOT sabotage myself. Period. I will pause, I will be gentle with myself...but I wiill NOT give up this journey, and I will NOT surrender to fear.
I know mostly what this is about, and I'll be fine. It's just another hurdle to clear, and I will. But for now, I'm proud of myself for recognizing what was happening before I boomeranged back into an unhealthy place. Really, in the long run, that's an even better NSV than a smaller pants size. There will always be more pants. For now I just need to be still and regroup. It feels good to let myself do that, and it's reassuring to know that I have the tools now to lose again whever I'm ready. Meanwhile, I'm going to learn to eat at maintenance and keep doing my thing at the gym. This too shall pass.50 -
My 12 yo looked over at me, sitting with my chin in hand while he did his math, and said, “Wow Mom, you are so muscular! You muscles are just…out there!”
He sure knows how to compliment his mom!24
