Awesome work @kgirlhart - that urge to slow in the last few kilometres is also overwhelming. Well done on resisting it. Sounds like you executed an excellent race. And awesome result with your PR, age-group placement, and spot prize!1

November Goal: 100 Miles
11/2: 4.03 miles
11/4: 4.04 miles
11/6: 13.18 miles
21.25/100 miles completed for November
Race Report: Today was the Half Marathon I have been training for. It was really nice weather. It was the coolest run I have had so far this season. But there was no wind and the sun was shining. I wore shorts and a t-shirt and started out with sleeves and gloves. Last year when I ran this race I missed a turn after mile 12 and ended up with 13.5 miles. My official time was 2:11(which was a PR)and my Garmin gave me 2:07:57 for a HM that day. So my goal for today was to beat 2:11 and hopefully to beat 2:07:57.
The race started and I went out a little too fast as I always do. I was running side by side with a woman for the first two miles but then she pulled ahead of me, but I was able to keep her in sight. The run was so pretty and even though I slowed a little I was still on pace and feeling good. I took my gloves off around mile 3 and pulled my sleeves down. I took the sleeves off and stuck them in my pocket about a mile later. This race is an open road race and there seemed to be more traffic than in past years, but things were going well. Around mile 8 I noticed that the woman ahead of me was walking and holding her hip. When I caught up to her I asked if she was OK and she said she was, but she was having some hip problems. So I went on. By this time I was getting tired. But I knew I was getting closer so I ran on. I did take some chews during the race. Last year I started having leg cramps after about mile 12. I think that was a lot of the reason I made the wrong turn. (Plus the guy ahead of me took the wrong turn so I followed him.) So I was hoping to avoid the cramps and make my turn. This time I did not miss the turn and soon I was in the final stretch. The last two miles were pretty tough. I was feeling slow and really had to push myself if I wanted to get my PR. There was definitely a part of me that wanted to slow down, but I knew I would be disappointed in myself if I did. I did slow down some, but not on purpose, and I didn't stop. My husband was waiting to cheer me into the finish which always helps. I ended up with a time of 2:07:11. So it was a PR and I got first in my AG. And I won a door prize which was a case of beer.
After the race I drove over to Ft. Worth for a baby shower. It was really nice. I finished the quilt and my niece seemed to really like it.
So it has been a really busy day and I haven't had a chance to read anything yet, but I wanted to post this. I'll go back and catch up, but right now I am looking forward to the extra hour of sleep we get tonight.

Today’s run called for 50 minutes at 11:13-12:13 pace. I ended up a little fast with an average of 11:06. It was in the 40s when I started but quickly warmed, and I ended up shedding my long sleeved layer halfway through. With an added warmup and cooldown, I completed 5.08 miles.
Training runs: 4/16
Total miles for month: 12.228 -
7 Nov total 42.64 out of 150 goal. 241.72 left for run the year so need to avg 4.48 the rest of the year to complete on time. I have really been enjoying the weather and yesterday decided to challenge myself to a 5K run later on. Was happy to have an avg 8:58 per mile time as even tho I have a lot of under 10 min splits this year, I have less than 100 under 9 min. 8:22 is my fastest time for a mile and that was back in March. I was hoping to see something under 8 this year but not sure I have that in me. I have mostly increased my times by increasing tempo and speed work.
1-Nov 5.03
2-Nov 8.23
3-Nov 5.15
4-Nov 5.03
5-Nov 6.01
6-Nov 8.18

Sounds like you are on the mend @Scott6255.
Glad your back is getting better @quilteryoyo.
Well done on your race @kgirlhart, great time, a PB and first in AG. Brilliant 👍
31.2 mile trail run (50.2k) today, average pace of 11:33 min per mile ans 1,865 feet of elevation. Got a 50k PB of 05:58:41 and just (by the skin of my teeth) got sub 6 hours. Very happy with this.
Started off well but got to mile 9 and had a little niggle in my left hip, but after a while this subsided, thankfully.
The one thing I learnt from today is that I need to be a lot fitter than I am when running these distances. But, it's difficult with only being able to run a couple of times a week. I need to work on my glutes and also my quads as they were hurting on the downhill sections.
November cumulative:
36.3 miles & 2,446 feet of Elevation7 -

@kgirlhart Congrats on the PR and the AG win! That's amazing!
@sweetdaisy13 Congrats on your 50k PR! I'm impressed that you can do such long distances running a few days a week.
@skippygirlsmom I remember you mentioning your friends event last year. That's so great for him that it is doing well!
Lots of good running the last few days from everyone here. Seems like a lot of people are.getting some nicer weather. @rheddmobile your comment about the mosquitoes being dead really hit home. It's the best part of it cooling off. Being able to go outside without being swarmed.3
