Hit 500 miles of swimming in 2021 today!19

My NSV today is that I did my hair color tonight after hours of not doing it. I made myself do it and I got it done. Now I don’t want to eat! I feel accomplished tonight. It’s a good feeling.9

My NSV is that I try not to eat even a gummie vitamin with 15 calories to save the calories. I’ll take the pill with no calories. I’ll stop eating even a small amount of calories just to save the calories. Every little bit helps.
I agree 100% - every calorie saved helps. I've managed to lose 119 since March 1st thinking this same way!11 -
I took my own snacks to work Christmas bowling party last night. They had pizza, french fries and was to have Keto friendly UNBREADED chicken but had Breaded chicken nuggets. I'm glad I had my hard boiled egg, colby jack string cheese and pecans in my purse to go with water!25

I'm finally going to the gym regularly again. First moving, then travel, then pet health issues. By the time I went jogging again, I realized my feet had shrunk half a size and running in my old, worn out shoes was uncomfortable. Bought new running shoes, but pet had more health issues (she's ok, but it's a reoccurring issue). After over two months of barely any running, I'm only about 20 seconds slower than I was before. I can totally make up that difference!21

I've been doing maintenance for the last two months with pretty good results overall. But this week I went up a pound and couldn't figure out why. I waited and did all the usual things, but the pound remained. So today I pulled out the measuring tape. The waist/hips areas are smaller than they've ever been while the muscle spots (arms, thighs) are bigger. Woohoo! I've been lifting heavier weights at the gym, so I guess this recomping thing is actually starting to work!! To be honest, I really didn't expect it to. Guess I need to measure more often until I figure out what my permanent goal weight wants to be. I understand losing, but recomping still seems like voodoo. Nonetheless, it's definitely an NSV to see the inches continue to fall off when I'm no longer eating at deficit.23

I love all your posts. They are really encouraging.
I've lost less than 10 pounds but I've already been able to cut my blood pressure medicine in half. I'm also keeping my sugar levels in the normal range.
Keep up the good work everyone. I know this is a hard time of the year, so many temptations.24 -
I no longer say "OOF" when I pick up my rather large dog. He's lost weight too and is in the perfect range for a lab!
Plus I'm getting stronger, but don't tell him that!20 -
One more - a friend who is normally very responsive didn't return a text until the next day. I didn't automatically think I'd done something wrong and he was about to cut me off and leave. Massive overreaction, I know, but something the heavier me did all the time. Turns out he had a bad day. I feel great that my anxious self didn't freak out and gave them some space to breathe and talk to me when he was ready.
Even though I'm a lot more confident, everything doesn't revolve around me now!22 -
I had a Zoom meeting yesterday and didn't hate the way I looked on camera.26

The last 3 weeks I have been off the wagon. I just stopped caring about eating right and reaching my goals. I was in a real head funk. Then a couple of weeks ago I injured my back and it’s still not at 100% (though definitely much better!) I think the back injury just added to my previous week of not caring and I let it blow out another couple of weeks….
I’m finally on the other side of it. I was mindful of what I ate yesterday. Even bought chocolate biscuits to have as treats (I find I am able to stop myself with one or 2 of these unlike other treat foods that I just seem to gorge myself on) and although I had calories left at the end of the night to have a couple I decided that I didn’t really want them!
I am looking forward to my back getting better to get back into my jogging, (who is this person?!?! I never thought I would be the person who was itching to get back to jogging- a nsv of its own right there) I was starting to set a good pace with a few new pb’s reached along the way. I’m also missing riding my horse like crazy! I have done barely any exercise (the odd walk) since hurting my back, but I plan to start up with walking again in the morning (I’m not a big fan of walking, but I need to do something and it’s one of the few things I can do that won’t aggravate my back, in fact my doctor recommended walking)23 -
I ordered a pair of size large joggers from The Gap and have to return them because they’re too big! I’m going to try on the medium tomorrow! I’m thrilled! 😃24

My NSV was that I took a picture without my shirt on and realized that my stomach is actually pretty flat. Like, it still looks soft and squishy, but after 50 lbs lost, it isn't rounded out. Also, I no longer have that weird 'overhang' between my chest and stomach where the skin squishes together--my sides are pretty shaped and smooth now.21

Today I easily zipped up a dress that I hadn't been able to wear for 3 years! It's an 18 (UK) so I still have a way to go on my journey, but knowing that dress didn't use to fit me and now it does again feels fantastic.26

NSV.. Scale is not moving but leaning out a little...

I beat my mile time. I didn’t know if I’d even be able to but yesterday I shaved off a whole 19 seconds with relative ease.
I’m starting to think my body has always been well-suited to the sport of sprinting but my fear of cardio kept that talent hidden until recently.
I’m proud of not only getting quicker but also of overcoming fear and shame which allowed me to explore different types of exercise.19 -
Went to visit the kids in San Diego earlier this week. Haven’t seen SIL in a couple years. Was a bit bored so wandered out into the garage, where he had some weights and a chin up rack.
He’s so tall I couldn’t even get up in the chin up thing, so was doing this thing where I was like standing in it backwards and doing standing lift ups from bent arms to straight. Then I idly started doing leg lifts til I was in an L shape while pushed up on straight arms. It was fun and I was experimenting with how slow I could do it to make it harder.
Suddenly heard this voice behind me: “Damn, Mel, I can’t do that” and realized SIL had walked in on me playing with his toys. Boy, was he surprised.29 -
@springlering62 Woo hoo Mel!! That is wonderful!! I have seen calisthenics guys do that, I just figured out a routine to start my arms in the hopes that in a couple of years I will have some sort of upper body strength. I feel about arm day like many guys feel about leg day... oof!!13

Able to do 20 minutes of step aerobics today.21

I fit in a bra with a smaller bandwidth 🎉28
-
56#
2 jeans size down
4.5 to 6 inches in every measurement area
Unreal how much better I feel.
Only 20 more pounds to go.24 -
I spent April to the beginning of December off my feet due to injury and bone infection. Am in the process of restarting exercise. Always struggled to squat to parallel. After 2 weeks of PT, am developing enough mobility to squat below parallel. Now to slowly build the weight back up to prior the injury.18

So last week we had FOUR Christmas parties I had to attend/help host at work. (I work in a nursing home, and we do a Christmas party on each unit.) My NSV is that I didn't stuff myself on the leftover cookies we were allowed to enjoy once the residents had had their share. I only had one or two per party13

Went to a restaurant for brunch yesterday for a Christmas celebration. This was the first time I've been out to eat since my weight loss journey began. I checked out the online menu before we left and made a plan. When I got there, I stuck to it. Also, despite the waitress' best efforts, I did NOT get a cinnamon roll (they are famous for them). I enjoyed the meal and the company and did not feel like I needed to be rolled out of there when it was all over. Winning!23

@dralicephd So smart planning ahead like that. Congrats on the self control! Great win! 🎉4

I went to see the new Spiderman movie and didn't touch any popcorn or soda!14

Strava gave me this year end report:
My 2021 Year in Sport
In July, I was recuperating from surgery.

I had to buy new jeggings for a funeral in June/July this year, I had no idea what size I was so I got an 18 and an optimistic 16. I couldn't get the 16s up over my legs so wore the 18s which were snug.
It's Christmas Jumper/own clothes week in work this week, I was going to wear my exercise leggings since they have a pocket (much needed in my job!) but my jumper isn't long so you'd see... everything! I tried on those 18s jeggings, too big! Tried the 16s, a little dance needed to get over the hips but they fit! Couldn't tell you the last time I wore a 16 bottom that wasn't PJs or elasticated leggings!15 -
I made myself a handknit sweater a few years ago that I wear all the time in the Winter. It's my favorite color and style, and I love everything about it except one thing: I made the sleeves about an inch too short. It's not noticeable to other people, but it's always bugged me. I could fix them, but I'd have to unravel and reknit a good part of each sleeve, and I've never gotten around to doing it. So last week I put on the sweater and noticed the sleeves are now long enough because my upper arms aren't stretching the fabric anymore!! I couldn't wipe the smile off my face all day.32
