8 'sneasy' Slow Not Easy miles this evening. Not quite sure what the problem was... maybe 73F, or 20mph / 30mph gust wind, or sore from Sunday. But it wasn't great.

@quilteryoyo I'm so sorry you have COVID again. I know quite a few people who have gotten this variant now despite being fully vaccinated and/or having COVID previously. Hopefully your and your mom's symptoms will be milder and resolve quickly. You could use a break! Hugs!
@Faebert I feel for you on the wounded pride - I almost wiped out twice today, once on the way out of the gym on a slick spot right in front of a guy who was holding the door for me. I managed not to go down but it was not a graceful move. Glad you didn't get more hurt!
@Scott6255 sorry it wasn't a great run today, but I do love the new "sneasy" portmanteau (a word I was just reminded of in a game on the Ask Me Another podcast!)

I ran 5.5 miles today. It wasn't too cold at about 48°F feels like 43°, but it was windy so I ran pretty slow. But it was a nice run. It is supposed to be about 50°F in the morning and not so windy. So I am hoping for a nice run before it gets down into the 20's on Thursday. I'm really not looking forward to that.

@quilteryoyo I am sorry that you are sick again. We’ve had a ton of people at our various worksites test positive, and almost all are vaccinated. It is spreading like crazy.
1.1 slow miles tonight, and a little bit of strength training on my lunch break.
January miles: 50.36
Streak days:185 -
@quilteryoyo ugh, sorry you got it again. Hope it is mild and passes quickly.
My husband is currently locked in our bedroom with it but seems pretty mild for now. I did a test yesterday, negative, but feel like I'm coming down with something. Then again it could just be from the cold and effort on Sunday.

I hope everyone feels better (or stays good)!
My plan said 8.1 km, so that's what I did. Tried a few back roads I haven't done much of before and it was nice. The air felt a little colder than it's been, but -3°C is pretty normal for this time of year. Just watch out for icy spots.
Sunrise7 -
Sorry your run wasn't easy @Scott6255 . I love the "sneasy" portmanteau also. Thanks @katharmonic for exposing me to a new word and the kind thoughts for me and mom.
@kgirlhart Good job on getting your running done. Friday is our coldest day this week. It may get to 50 this afternoon.
Thanks @marisap2010 and @eleanorhawkins . @eleanorhawkins I hope you stay well and your husband gets better quickly. At least this variant seems to be more like a bad cold or the flu and doesn't affect your lungs like the original did.
Thanks @polskagirl01 . Nice running in that cold. Pretty sunrise.1 -

Mostly cloudy, low 30s F, and a gusty south wind. Main road was clear and easy to run on; sided roads were treacherous and required caution.
Nice to see we're all inventing new words to describe our runs. Hope all the sick make a speedy recovery and all the well stay that way.5 -
@Tramboman apparently we need a new running dictionary? Since you started it.....
Up to about 80 miles for the month out of 120 goal. Should make it altho the weather the next few days is supposed to be a bit nippy. As long as it's not icy I can do a little. I had to go back to run the world and correct an duplicate entry but it looks like we are close to keeping up.

Woohoo it was over 40F today! It was actually 47 when I started this morning, pretty morning, until it started to rain on me. Guess I missed that in the forecast.
@quilteryoyo I’m not a fan of snow. NO! I can’t believe you have COVID again. I’m so sorry!!! Three of my friends who had COVID in the past month had their booster at least 2 months ago. So hit or miss it seems.
Poor @Scott6255 “sneasy” miles. Sorry about that. Sounds like it would be a combo of all of the above.

Nice running everyone.
@skippygirlsmom We can at least hope that the vaccine is keeping the symptoms from being too severe. I'm just really tired today and mom still has congestion, but the Mucinex is helping that.3 -

I got a run in at lunch today before the rain moved in. It’s supposed to turn to snow overnight with colder temperatures. I have to keep reminding myself that it is January and this is what January weather is supposed to be like in my area. Doesn’t keep me from longing for Spring though.
@quilteryoyo – Sorry you have COVID again. This variant is so contagious that I think everyone will have it sooner or later. At least the symptoms are milder for most if you have had the vaccine.
Goodness @Faebert – glad you weren’t seriously injured in your ice escapedes!
Beautiful sky @polskagirl01
Thanks for the new words @Scot6255 and @katharmonic!

Thanks @Teresa502. I am also longing for Spring, and light mornings in particular. Hope the snow isn’t too bad when it comes.
@quilteryoyo - hope you and your mum are still feeling ok.
Lovely sunrise @polska_girl. There was a breathtaking one on my way to school today but no time to stop. Pink and peachy stripes through the sky and the most amazing light. People were taking photos from the bridge we walk over!
@Scott6255 - ‘sneasy’ is a great new addition to the running lexicon. Although it autocorrected to ‘sneaky’ so many times I almost gave up on writing this comment. But totally right for when the struggle is inexplicable, but real.
Another boring 2m treadmill run today but keeping the streak alive. I have a half day tomorrow so will get out there and aim for 5km if the weather allows.

@quilteryoyo Hope you and your mom feel better soon, with two shots and a prior infection, plus booster (supposedly only takes 24 hrs to start ramping up immune system) hopefully you should be pretty protected.
I heard back from the doctor’s office finally, calcium score zero so yay on that front. However I do have multiple calcified granulomas in my lungs probably due to lupus inflammation over the years. Both x-rays and ct scan failed to see any pleural effusion so apparently it came and went on its own. Multiple very minor leaks of heart valves again probably due to years of lupus, and minor weirdness of ekg - one of my leads is inverted which can signify really bad stuff but also is normal for about .4% of people and we don’t have a previous one to compare to, so they are assuming it’s normal for me. I don’t get a follow up to talk to an actual doctor about what happens next until 8th February. My strong suspicion is that all the minor problems are downstream from the lupus flare I had shortly before my heart freaked out, since I know I was having lupus-related vasculitis at that time. I’m still really reluctant to push hard while running since it might happen again at any time. And I’m still having chest discomfort which no one has an explanation for.
My husband and I have run twice since I last posted, once on trails across the river, and once on the Greenway. He’s still without his asthma meds (FINALLY got an appointment today so he will have meds again) and so we have been running slow, short and easy. Shlorzy? Usually we run every other day, but this week there were two beautiful days in a row sandwiched between spans of absolutely heinous weather, so we took advantage and ran twice in a row. Which means today I get to lift indoors and be grateful I’m not outside getting rained on.
On the lifting front, since due to my heart issues I haven’t been able to push hard while running, and I got new weights for Christmas, I have been focusing on my lifting. Due to my very limited ancient weight set at home I was stuck deadlifting and squatting a max of 150 lbs. My dad actually got me my old weight set when I was in high school, it’s a Weider set from 1980 something made of plastic and cement, and it has served me well over the decades, but really it’s a little sad. So my Christmas present to myself involves 300 lbs of cast iron, very nicely coated so it doesn’t cut up my hands when I swap plates, and a girlie 5” Oly bar which is really a very high class bar which was on sale because the packaging was damaged, plus a rack which actually has real live safety bars unlike the tiny little safety arms on my old rack, so I don’t accidentally staple myself like I did when I failed a squat and missed the safety bar last year. So, since Christmas I have improved my deadlift from 150 to 175 and my squat to 170, and my overhead press from 65 to 75. This is still less than I was lifting back when I went to the gym but at least it’s coming back!6 -
Thanks @Teresa502 . The symptoms aren't horrible and, you're right, it is so contagious I expect everyone will get it as some point in time. Great run today and I too have to remind myself this is January! Even though, I want it to hurry up and be warmer, I can't believe how fast January has gone by.
Thanks @Faebert and @rheddmobile .
@Faebert I hope you get in a good outdoor run tomorrow.
@rheddmobile Glad you got a few answers to your health questions and sounds like it is all good news. Great job on increasing your weights!
Mom and I are doing good. I was just really tired today with a little bit of a runny nose. I did manage to get in a mile on the treadmill and strolled the half mile to get the mail. I've actually felt better this evening, after the outdoor stroll. Mom still had the runny nose, cough, and sneezing, but not as bad as yesterday. Hopefully it will be short lived and we'll feel a lot better tomorrow.4 -

It was 50°F this morning. I wore shorts and a t-shirt and ran 6 miles. It was really nice. Tomorrow morning it in supposed to be 24°F, feels like 11°F. I haven't decided if I will run or not.

@rheddmobile Glad you are starting to get some answers. Great job on your lifting!
@quilteryoyo, I’m glad you’re feeling a little better.
Last night was a short run working on hill repeats. I warmed up for about half a mile and then tackled a large hill in my neighborhood 3x at about a 10K pace, jogging down after each.

After my last post, I looked at the weather and realized it was going rain the rest of the day. Since I’m not traveling far for work today, I went ahead and got in an early morning 2 miles.
